Back when I reviewed the Turquoise Waterproof Stylo Eyeliner, I did the look with the Aurora 5-Couleurs. I wasn’t too pleased with the amount of orange and overall brassiness of the look, and how the gold ate the brown.
Aurora is SO gorgeous to look at, I left for vacation bound and determined to make it work when I came home. I made it work, and it’s all love from here.
What the Nordstrom website has to say about Aurora ‘Le Croisette’ 5-Couleurs Palette:
Inspired by the art de vivre of the French Riviera, the Dior Croisette Collection combines the peace of the French countryside with the splendor of Saint Tropez. Adorned with sunbursts, the Le Croisette palettes are inspired by the sophisticated signature pleating technique used on the fabric of Dior dresses. The Aurora harmony is a warm collection inspired by a day spent sunbathing on the beach.
Aurora is a warm blend of hot summer shades – a golden mustard yellow, a rusted bronze, juicy orange, white gold, and a frosty pink. The pressed sunburst effect on the shadows really make the shades shimmer and stand out.
Out of the two 5-Couleur Palettes released with the Summer 2012 Croisette Collection, Aurora is the most lovely and pigmented. The shades are a breeze to blend and can be worn multiple ways – bold and brassy, elegant, even demure if you skip the yellow and orange. It’s a very versatile and easy palette to create with, which makes the price tag that much easier to swallow.
I did not purchase the other palette, Swimming Pool, because I wasn’t impressed when I swatched it in person, and once I got home I also noticed there weren’t many (if any) decent reviews. They also aren’t the type of shades I gravitate towards, but I do recommend that if you DID purchase Swimming Pool and can’t get a good pigment, a good trick is to take the Turquoise Stylo Eyeliner from this same collection, apply it all over the lid, and THEN apply Swimming Pool.
As I mentioned before, my first EOTD with Aurora can actually be seen back when I reviewed the Turquoise Eyeliner. I wasn’t super happy with it… way too brassy for me… but many more looks were begging to be created with this palette. The one below is seriously one of my favorite looks this year.
Below I applied the bronze shade all over the lid, a mix of the orange and gold in the crease (blending up), the orange in the outer V, the frosty pink at the inner corner, and the white gold as a highlight. The liner is MAC Powersurge Eye Kohl with the bronze shade from Aurora placed over it. Under the lower lid I also used a bit more of the orange shade to really make the eye look stand out. The mascara used is Tarina Tarantino in Fleur de Lash Black Opal.
The Dior ‘Le Croisette’ 5-Couleurs Palette retails for $60.00 and is available at fine department stores, their websites, and Dior.com. Aurora is Limited Edition.

that looks really nice on you! which one do you like better, the Dior or the Nars Ramatuelle? I can’t decide between the two…the orange and the peach shades for both palettes seems to swatch the same on my hand. thanks|!|

The Dior is much more vibrant, whereas the NARS stays demure. If you’re looking for a great Summer eye that isn’t going to scream at you, then the NARS is best. If you’re looking for something more eye-catching and warm, then the Dior is best. Obviously, you can create many more looks with the Dior, but it would be REALLY hard for me to choose between the two if I could just have one.
