Confession. I’m a closet Super Hero junkie. I love the movies and the outfits, the effects, the makeup… you name it. One of my favorite nail polish brands doing a collection based off of the new Spider Man movie? I’m ALL over it.
For The Amazing Spider-Man Collection, OPI has released six limited edition shades (as shown left to right in the photos above) – My Boyfriend Scales Walls, Your Web or Mine?, Call Me Gwen-Ever, Just Spotted the Lizard, Number One Nemesis, and Into the Night – as well as a brand new shatter shade in Shatter the Scales.
My Boyfriend Scales Walls
My Boyfriend Scales Walls isn’t a true white, but more of a grey-blue tinged white. Very interesting in tone! Three coats were needed for even and full opacity.
Your Web or Mine?
Your Web or Mine? is a frosty, semi-streaky pinked rose. The shades of this collection are so interesting and stand-out, that this one just falls flat. While a pretty color, it doesn’t seem to fit well in the line… A pink linear holo would have been better (but when is holo NOT better?!). Two coats.
Call Me Gwen-Ever
Call Me Gwen-Ever is a dusty tangerine cream. I love this shade, and am wondering if it resembles Dior Bikini at all? I used three coats, but you could get away with two thick coats.
Just Spotted the Lizard
Just Spotted the Lizard is a metallic polish with shades of green, gold and some blue. A likely dupe for Chanel Peridot (comparison post), this shade is a little streaky, but the duochrome beauty obviously makes up for that. Luckily, the sun was going in and out while I was photographing, so I got a lot of different shots for you! Two coats were used for the photo.
Number One Nemesis
(outside in the sun, blurry to show the glitters)
Number One Nemesis has a steel gray base with a ton of mostly gold but some other multicolored micro-shimmers throughout. Maybe a dupe for Chanel Graphite (?) (comparison post), this is a glittering beauty… nothing like what I’d imagine my nemesis to be! Three coats were used in the photo.
Into the Night
Into the Night is a fantastic bright royal blue shimmer. It takes my breath away. OPI Swimsuit…Nailed It may seem similar, but there is that slight indigo tone to Into the Night that Swimsuit doesn’t have. The only downfall to this one is that it’s a bit on the sheer side. I used three very thick coats for the swatch photo.
Shatter the Scales
(outdoors, with sun, no flash)
Shatter the Scales is a knock-your-socks off shimmery teal shatter. I did a thin coat overtop of My Boyfriend Scales Walls and Just Spotted the Lizard. A thick coat was applied over Call Me Gwen-Ever and Your Web or Mine. My favorite combo is definitely Shatter the Scales over Just Spotted the Lizard, amazing!
Overall, this is one of my favorite collections this year from OPI. The only one I would completely skip from this collection is Your Web or Mine. Top choices are definitely Shatter the Scales, Just Spotted the Lizard (if you don’t have Chanel Peridot), Call Me Gwen-Ever, and Number One Nemesis.
As with all OPI nail lacquers, these shades inspired by The Amazing Spider-Man contain no DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde, and feature OPI’sexclusive ProWide™ Brush for the ultimate in application.
This limited edition promotion will be available beginning May 2012 at Professional Salons, including Beauty Brands, Beauty First, Chatters, Dillard’s, JCPenney, Pure Beauty, Regis, Trade Secret, and ULTA, for $8.50 ($9.95 CAN) suggested retail for each Nail Lacquer.

Hmm I’m definitely spotting Chanel dupes here! Just Spotted the Lizard looks very similar to Peridot. Can’t wait for your comparison swatches!

I find it a little disappointing when they make almost exact dupes from other brands like Chanel and Dior. I see Chanel has made a nail polish due this summer just like Call Me Gwen – Ever. I wish OPI was a little more creative 😉

I don’t know what it is but I just can’t get into this collection. Although, I really like Shatter the Scales over My Boyfriend Scales Walls 🙂
