Mineralize Eye Shadows have never been a top eye product for me. Sure, they are gorgeous to look at, but I feel that I just get better pigment and use from a normal shadow in a normal pan. The Chenman MES in Love Cycle has made my jaw drop.
What the MAC website has to say about Chenman Mineralize Eye Shadow Duo:
In the spirit of the M∙A∙C/Chen Man collaboration, two shades of Mineralize Eye Shadow – a mélange and a solid – form the traditional Yin-Yang symbol. The Chinese character for love is depicted in Chen Man’s calligraphy on the outer sleeve. Limited edition.
3 g / 0.10 US oz
Love Cycle (duo – half light blue, white, dark blue melange/half solid dark royal blue) is probably the most pigmented Mineralize Eye Shadow I’ve ever used in my life, especially the royal blue side. In the swatches above, the shadows are swatched dry on my arm. No base, no water… just the product. Amazing, right?
With the look I did below, there were no issues with fall out. However, since mineralized anything can be soft, I suggest being careful with application, using good and firm brushes, and (of course) applying your eye makeup before your foundation.
On to the Eye Look! Obviously, with this duo being so extremely pigmented, we had to go wild! To get the EOTD look below, you’ll need to do the following – apply a thin layer of eye shadow base (I used Urban Decay Primer Potion) to the lid using your pointer finger or a firm brush (such as the MAC 242). Taking another firm brush (I used the MAC 239) I patted 2 layers of the MES Duo’s left side all over the lid and into the crease. Using a firm pencil brush (I used the MAC 219) deposit the MES Duo’s right side in to the crease. Picking up some more color on the pencil brush pat the shade into the outer V. Picking up a blending brush (I used the MAC 226) get a bit more of the MES Duo’s right side, tap off the excess, and blend the eye. I then took the same blending brush and got a bit of MAC Cloudy Afternoon MES to blend the crease out and to highlight the eye.
The top eye liner is Chanel Le Crayon Kohl in Noir, the bottom liner is Chanel Le Crayon Kohl in Marine. I also added a bit of the MES Duo’s left side on the outer side of the lower lashes. The mascara used for this look was 2 coats of MAC Plushlash.
Love Cycle is meant for bold and dramatic things, but you could wear this a bit more toned down by putting the left side down on the lid, and using the right side wet as a liner.
ChenMan Mineralize Eye Shadow Duo retails for $20.00 and is limited edition to the Chenman Collection. Currently this MES is available on the MAC website along with the other two (Supersweet and Pink Union), but you can also purchase at your local MAC counter or store.
