When I finally found my signature lip color… I’ll admit I always thought it would be a shade of coral or peach. Those are just the shades I’m usually happiest with when I’m wearing a lip color. I never expected to find my perfect shade, in a darker lipstick, from a new-to-me brand.
The shade Thandie is part of the Icon Collection (I know the box says Noir, but when I looked online it says Icon so I’m going with that), which is a collection Julie Hewett created to honor the screen icons of beauty.
What the Julie Hewett website has to say about Thandie:
Julie created the Icon Collection as a series of shades honoring screen icons of beauty. This long-lasting lipstick features a triple-pigmented formula and lasts for hours but will not dry your lips out, thanks to healing camellia oil and essence of rosebud. A unique sheer red with gold highlights.
Thandie is a light rosy raisin shade with just the right hint of shimmer. It applies almost like a stain to the lips, and you can layer to get more pigment. This formula doesn’t feel heavy or thick, and is slightly moisturizing. In the above swatch I don’t have any type of lip balm underneath (my lips were actually pretty dry when I applied this lipstick) or on top.
I love how the interior of the box has a design. You know I’m all about the fanciful packaging. The casing of the lipstick is that shiny gold that Guerlain also likes to use, meaning fingerprints, but it’s nice and compact enough to fit in any makeup bag.
Julie Hewett Icon Lipstick retails for $22.50 and can be purchased online through stores such as anthropologie.com or dermstore.com. This line is also available in some stores, please click here for a full list.

I thought it would be a lot browner, but I’m pleasantly surprised… It looks really wearable!
