Marc Anthony DREAM WAVES Beach Hair System Review and Photos

Are you ready for Summer?  I am, but Summer hair is an issue for me.  I have such a bizarre hair texture.  It’s frizzy with wave, but is fine, yet thick.  Anyway, it does not hold curl, and it doesn’t straighten without extreme effort.  All my life (I went to high school in the late 90’s) I envied that curly hair that all of the other girls seemed to so effortlessly achieve.  I tried hot rollers, steam rollers, curling irons… everything.  It would look great when finished, but would fall to frizz waves within the hour.  I even went to the salon and got a body wave.  The wave actually fell out in a few days (and, yes, I waited to wash it).

No bueno.

The Amplifying Shampoo & Amplifying Conditioner

The Dream Waves Amplifying Shampoo & Amplifying Conditioner are to be used before applying the other two steps.  Simply wash your hair as usual with the shampoo, rinse, apply conditioner, rinse… done.

The Amplifying Lotion

The Amplifying Lotion is a liquid that you need to be careful when squeezing out, because it will come fast. This product used alone made my hair a little stiff, so I like to use the lotion in conjunction with the Beach Spray.

Beach Spray

The Beach Spray is a light mist used to make the hair wavy and not crunchy.  For the full curl I apply this after the Lotion.  MA Beach Spray is even nice to use alone.  Did you just wake up and don’t feel like washing your hair that is still wavy from using this system the day before?  Spritz on some more of the Beach Spray for a nice wave.  It won’t curl like the day before, but it revives your hair to be wavy and wearable.  (BTW, my hair is usually oily in the morning, but when I use this it’s not).

The end result when using the whole four step system is full and luscious CURLS.

I couldn’t even believe it when I looked at the picture.  I expected it to be like the Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray, but the Marc Anthony System actually gives a fuller curl and when the Lotion and Spray are used together you don’t get that crispy feeling.  I did NOT use a diffuser for this.  The picture above is my hair after it was air dried.

Breaking down the steps – Shampoo, Condition, apply Lotion to damp hair, let it air dry a bit, apply Spray and scrunch… voila!

All of the products are coconut scented to make you feel like you’re at the beach, even if you’re looking out your window and all you see is snow.

How much, you ask?  Before I looked at pricing information, I’m thinking expensive.  This stuff is EXTREMELY affordable.  At Ulta you can get these products for $7.99 EACH and right now they are Buy One get One half off AND you can even print a $3.50 coupon off of the website, which will take that amount of any purchase over $10.  So, to break it down, you could do two transactions with two $3.50 coupons and only pay $8.49 per transaction, making the whole system only $16.97 plus tax.  Just for the Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray you’d pay $23.00 for less product than just the Marc Anthony Dream Waves Spray.

Obviously, everyone has a different hair texture.  This is just my experience with the products and my particular and tempermental hair texture.  It works well for me, and hopefully it will for you too.  It’s a huge relief to know I can do my hair quickly over the Summer so I can run out the door and not have to worry about flatness or frizz.
