Beyond sad that I missed Modern Mercury from Fall 2011, I was determined to get my hands on this seasons Estee Lauder ‘Pure Color’ Illuminating Powder Gelée.
Based off of the swatches of Shimmering Sands that I was drooling over before I ran out to buy my own, it seemed that it would be more of a fit for me than Modern Mercury. I tend to gravitate towards the bronzey shades!
What the Nordstrom website has to say about ‘Pure Color’ Illuminating Powder Gelée:
Turn up the heat. Innovative tri-blend liquid, powder, gel formula goes beyond face powder to give you a sexy, sophisticated glow. The perfect mix of pigment and pearls for a multi-reflective finish. Smoothes on as an allover soft sheen. Builds for luminous pearl highlighting. From the Bronze Goddess Capri Summer 2012 Collection.
Shimmering Sands is a silky bronzed peach shade. You don’t need much product to apply to your face, as this is extremely pigmented. You can go natural, or build the color up for a more striking cheek.
How I use this – I dip my brush into the powder dab on my cheekbones and blend up for a radiant glow. This is more than just an illuminating product for me, but rather a great flush for the cheeks and lid color on the eyes.
In the pan Shimmering Sands appears like it would be frosty on the cheeks, but once it’s blended out it’s nothing but luminous.
The packaging is a gorgeous gold emblazoned with the Estee Lauder logo. The included brush is just an extra large sponge tip applicator. I used it for swatching but wasn’t fond of using it on my face, and prefer using my MAC 168 (as usual lol).
Shimmering Sands ‘Pure Color’ Illuminating Powder Gelée retails for $42.00 and is available at Nordstrom.
I suggest is you are interested in this to order immediately… when Estee Lauder releases a popular product such as this, it doesn’t stick around long!
