Le Metier de Beaute AURORA Kaleidoscope Lip Kit Swatches and Review – Northern Lights Spring 2012

March 2, 2012

Le Metier de Beaute always has a creative color story to go along with all of their collections.  The story of Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis) makes you feel magical, and it’s neat to be able to add a bit of what nature can create to your face.

The Aurora Kaleidoscope Lip Kit contains four shades in the Lip Creme Lip Gloss formula – Illuminate (shimmering hot pink with a sheer finish), Voltaic (a satin-y nude mauve), Dynamos (an effervescent coral-tangerine), and Eos (an opaque fuchsia).

(Illuminate)

(Voltaic)

(Dynamos)

(Eos)

(L-R: Illuminate, Voltaic, Dynamos, Eos, all shades blended)

(All shades blended)

Aurora is a mix of nude, pink and reddened coral shades that you wouldn’t normally think could work well together, but the shades blend together to create a soft, flawless pink lip.  Each shade is wearable on it’s own, or layered (as shown above, shades applied from top to bottom) in Le Métier de Beauté’s signature Couche de Couleur layering format.

Normally I steer clear of Lip Palettes because I don’t handle the mess well, but each shade of a Kaleidoscope Lip Kit is housed on a separate level that swivels out.  This is FABULOUS because the shades won’t mingle near or into each other and I feel like it’s just more sanitary and looks better.  Plus it comes with a mirror and beautiful packaging (the top is dulled so fingerprints won’t mar it It’s got a protective cover!  So the top can be shiny if you like, or you can keep the cover on so it doesn’t get printed).  I’m excited to take this on vacation with me in April because it’s a nice assortment of color and will be easy to travel with.

Aurora retails for $95.00 and is Limited Edition.  Purchase the Le Métier de Beauté’s Northern Lights Collection at Neiman Marcus, NeimanMarcus.com, Nordstrom and Nordstrom.com and Bergdorf Goodman around the middle of March.

Please see the Official Press Release for more information.

That is so freaking pretty, I would make an exception to my no potted gloss rule.

seriously, I hate lip palettes, potted gloss… all that. I LOVE this! I used it a few times so far between swatching and general wear and it still looks great. I’m floored!

You, you and Xiao are just EVIL! Tempting everybody with such a gorgeous set (that I can’t have)! Aargh!

My frustration aside: all of them look good enough to eat on you!
