Butter London KNACKERED Nail Polish Swatches and Review – Spring/Summer 2012

February 27, 2012

Butter London has launched five new shades as part of their Spring/Summer Collection.  One of my favorite things about this brand is the name of their polishes.  From this particular collection I have Knackered, but Trout Pout and Disco Biscuit are also on my list… basically because of the names (great reason, right?!).

What the Nordstrom website has to say about Butter London polishes:

What is 3 Free? butter LONDON is a 3 Free company: no formaldehyde, no toluene, no DBP (dibutyl phthalate). This luxury nail lacquer is high-fashion, heavily pigmented and safe. butter LONDON believes in rock ‘n’ roll. Great Britain. And Fashion.

I took picture of Knackered in several different angles and lightings to show off the holo glitter and duochrome.  It doesn’t begin to capture how beautiful it is in person, but hopefully this will help you decide on if it’s a yay or a nay!

Knackered is a purpley green duochrome with holo mini glitters.  The base reminds me of MAC Ascension (which was a dupe for multiple shades) but not as opaque. The formula glided on well and doesn’t feel gritty after a top coat.

I love the color of this, but with the above swatch being three coats you can see how sheer this polish is.  It will look lovely over a darker shade, but I wish layering didn’t have to be involved.  It’s still a nice polish worth having in your stash if you don’t already own a similar color for a base and a top coat of holo glitter.

Butter London polishes retail for $14.00 and can be purchased at Nordstrom, Ulta, beauty.com, Zappos and ButterLondon.com.

This is lovely, too, but I think I prefer Victoriana to this, just a little.

This is the first swatch I’ve seen of it. I didn’t realize it was so sheer. What do you think would be good to wear under it?
