China Glaze HOOK AND LINE, FAST TRACK, HARVEST MOON, STONE COLD Nail Polish Swatches and Review – Capitol Colours

February 17, 2012

Inspired by The Hunger Games, China Glaze is launching a stellar 12 piece collection, which has become highly anticipated!

I haven’t read the books, so I can’t say I’m a super-fan… but seeing this collection and checking out the colors has me wanting to read the books and watch the upcoming movie!

Out of the 12 shades released I was sent four shades to share with you – Hook and Line, Fast Track, Harvest Moon, and Stone Cold.  Since I haven’t read the books, I’m not sure of the meanings and if the shades match up with their names, but I hope you enjoy the swatches 😉

Hook and Line

Hook and Line (pearlescent light grey) is a frosty silvered platinum.  I used three coats for the above photo and while this polish applied smoothly it finished rather streaky.  The shade is lovely, but if streaks bother you then you might want to pass.

Fast Track

Fast Track (soft sandy brown with a gold metallic shimmer) is like watching a star explode.  Bits of golden shimmer everywhere!  This shade is on the sheer side (3 coats used above) but applied well.  The flash will have you mesmerized.  My favorite out of the four!

Harvest Moon

Harvest Moon (crystallized copper shimmer) is a foily molten copper surrounded by fire.   The shade is very “Autumn” in color.  Three coats were used above, but I think it would have been okay in two.

Stone Cold

(Stone Cold w/ top coat)

Stone Cold (matte slate grey with shimmer) looks cool as a matte (it reminds me of rocks!), but I think it really shines with the top coat added.  I used 2 coats for full opacity.

Overall, this is gearing up to be a REALLY awesome collection.  I’m beside myself over Fast Track and Harvest Moon, and Stone Cold is pretty gorgeous too!  I definitely plan to pick up a couple more once these hit stores, so keep checking back for more!

China Glaze® Capitol Colours will be available in early March 2012 at salons and specialty beauty retailers including Sally Beauty Supply and ULTA stores, coinciding with the release of THE HUNGER GAMES in theatres March 23, 2012.  Individual shades retail for $7.  The collection will be available in a 12-piece counter display as well as open stock colors.

Do you happen to know how close Harvest Moon is to In Awe of Amber? It seems like the two certainly have the same feel, but I’m curious if they are dupes.

I don’t have AoA for a swatch comparison, but based off of swatches I’m seeing, Harvest Moon seems to have a deeper copper base and more shimmer. I’m liking the look of Harvest Moon better, personally, because I like that deep “Fall Fireball” look more so than the brassier, toned down look of AoA

Thanks! I’m picking these up today (they are on hold at my Sally’s so I might just go for both)!
