Make Up For Ever is a company well known by makeup artists and the regular user as being a high quality, runway ready brand. The Aqua Creams are more of the wildly popular items and with good reason. These cream shadows are extremely pigmented and high performing, ready to withstand the toughest conditions.
It’s going to be really fun to step out of my comfort zone and share #10 Orange Aqua Cream with you by way of photos, swatching, and something new I’m trying out… a tutorial!
What the Sephora website has to say about Aqua Cream:
What it is:
An ultra-pigmented, long-lasting waterproof cream.What it does:
Aqua Cream combines the highest-quality pigments with mother of pearl particles to give immediate rich color payoff with a luminous finish in just one application. It’s long-lasting formulation will not crease or smudge under the most extreme conditions and its creamy and elastic texture allows for easy blending. What else you need to know:
Available in shades ranging from soft neutrals to pure bright tones, you can find the perfect color for any purpose.
Shades #5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 are formulated for the Lips & Cheeks.
Shades #1, 2, 3, 4, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 20, 21, and 22 are formulated for the Eyes & Cheeks.Sephora is the exclusive beauty retailer for this product.
Size: 0.21 oz
Orange (golden tangerine sheen) is a true orange shade with fine golden shimmer. It’s cream to powder, and while you can see the golden a bit in the pot it’s not apparent much when used. The Aqua Cream wore like iron all day without any help from another primer underneath. I found it easy to apply and blend over. Be sure to work swiftly while applying, as it does dry fast.
Technically this one is listed as being formulated for lips and cheeks, and not the eye. On the cheeks it’s WAY too bold for me. Darker skin tones (I’m NW25) would be able to use it lightly, the ever bold can rock it on the lips (though you’ll need a gloss because it’s super drying).
I’ve been ok with it on my eyes (for shame, I know it says not to.. oh well) so the look with this post will be using this product on the eye. Please be sure to test this on yourself before you do a full look and go out for the day/night. Since it’s not technically eye safe, you don’t want to risk it, especially in public!
For the EOTD I thought I’d mix it up a little bit and make it a picture type of tutorial. I don’t really have the set up yet to do anything tutorial wise on YouTube, but I think it’s best to start easy and begin with pictures. Please let me know if this is something you’d like to see more of and I’ll try to get one up at least once a week.
Begin by applying Make Up For Ever 10 Orange Aqua Cream with your pointer finger all over the lid and patted into the crease. I kind of patted it around to smooth it until it felt dry. I left the inner corner of the eye free of color.
Next, I took an angled fluffy brush (I used the MAC 272) and picked up MAC Patina Eye Shadow, applying it to the inner corner, bringing it above the crease and all the way up to the eye brow.
After that take a pencil brush (I used the MAC 219) and picked up MAC Sparkle Neely, Sparkle Eye Shadow and applied it to the outer V and crease. (The eye pic is messy, but don’t worry, we’ll blend!)
Pick up your blending brush (MAC 226 for me!) and add some more of MAC Sparkle Neely, Sparkle Eye Shadow to blend.
Next I took a liner brush (MAC 209 for me) and added MAC Graphic Brown Fluidline (obviously well loved, and needs brought back!).
Also, for this step, I took a angled brush (MAC 266) and applied MAC Carbonized Eye Shadow a bit under the lower lash area.
Finally, I applied Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Mascara to finish off the look.
I liked this look because, while it was still out of my comfort zone, it was enough IN my comfort zone so that I would still be okay wearing it out of the house without feeling silly. This bright orange/tangerine is big for Spring, and even though it’s a loud shade, it can still be wearable!
Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream retails for $22.00 and is available at Sephora.
