Yes, you are correct… it is no longer December! However, this particular Birchbox had some difficulty getting to me and it arrived on my doorstep rather late. (Birchbox CS is AMAZING and helpful, BTW!) Once it got here, I was in the throughs of products for Spring 2012 and the Birchbox review fell to the wayside.
The December 2011 Birchbox wasn’t a total let down, and I was interested in trying most of the products. This made me feel like I should still share the contents with you so you could see what the service had to offer, if you’re still not convinced!
~ Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional
~ blinc Eyeliner
~ Harvey Prince Ageless
~ Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Birchbox Pink
~ PREP ShowStoppers
~ RECHARGE EBOOST Orange Natural Energy Booster
The Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional sample is a translucent primer meant to hide visible pores.
I’m not sure whether or not I’d use this daily, but it might be nice for special occasions. I can’t speak to whether or not it’s pore clogging since I’ve only just tried it and not tested at length, but my foundation did apply a lot smoother and easier.
The blinc Eyeliner was the item I was most excited about trying. Unfortunately, I’m not too impressed. I’m going to give this product the benefit of the doubt and say that application was difficult because it was a mini sized item, and perhaps the larger size is easier to hold and apply. It didn’t glide on evenly or dry quickly. The best part about this product was that it DOES remove with warm water and a little bit of pressure, as it states it does. This is nice because you don’t have to scrub at your eyes, it’s just a nice and gentle removal process.
The Harvey Prince Ageless scent is supposedly designed to make you smell more youthful… but really it smelled like an old lady put on her Avon Rose scented perfume and added a spritz of her granddaughters expensive Escada citrus. It didn’t smell horrid, just odd and not something that worked well with my own personal chemical makeup.
The Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Birchbox Pink was the absolute hit of this box. I am SO sad it was only a mini. The shade in the tube is shocking, but on the lips it’s a semi-sheer beauty. The formula is not sticky (YAY!). The pink shade is perfection and of COURSE it’s sold out on their website. I’m on the waiting list for a full size!
These next two items are considered “extras”:
The PREP ShowStoppers Designer Fashion Tape is used by stylists so that there isn’t any unwanted flashing doing on. Basically it’s double-sided tape. I’m a scrapbooker and always have this stuff on hand from the Scotch brand… so in a pinch I can save money and use that lol works the same!
The RECHARGE EBOOST Orange Natural Energy Booster is meant to (obviously) boost energy and is packed with a “mega-dose” of nutrients. I haven’t actually tried this yet. My dad has me trying some thing from GNC meant to give you energy and boost your metabolism, which isn’t working. LOL My first impression of the Recharge EBOOST is that $28 for 20 packets seems rather expensive… but I guess if it works, then it’s worth it! When I try, I’ll update!
Since signing up for Birchbox a few months ago it’s had it’s ups and downs, but I’ve ordered a full size of something from every single month. November has been by far the best month, mostly thanks to that bracelet. I will definitely be continuing my subscription into January.
Wanna sign up for Birchbox? (Click for referral) If you like what you see go to the website and fill out the form. It’s just $10 a month (free shipping too!) and you get some cool stuff, tho I will warn you, you’re going to get stuff you hate as well. All in all, for the $10 it’s worth it. I love getting mail! haha
***Disclosure – I buy my own Birchbox, but the link posted in the above paragraph does give me referral points which I can use toward product on the site. Once you sign up for your own Birchbox, you’ll also get a referral code to send out to others and get some points of your own 😉
