More Spring!! To be honest, this is perfect timing because I don’t know what season it is. It’s rainy and about 60 degrees here today in western PA which is Spring weather (normally)… so the makeup is matching the weather! I’m not a huge snow fan.. but really, it better snow on Christmas.
Anyway, back to makeup! Dior introduces us to their Spring 2012 Collection – Garden Party! I am enamored with the beautiful shades of pastel in this collection. Everything about it is phenomenal and I’m totally aware I’m being obnoxious right now, but the press pictures do not do any of this justice. I hope you’ll do yourself a favor and check this entire collection out in person as soon as it hits counters!
On to the first piece! Today for you I have the Dior 5-Couleurs “Garden Edition” Eyeshadow in Garden Roses #841. (I have also reviewed Garden Pastels #441, click here to view).
What the Official Press Release has to say about the Garden Party 5-Couleurs Eyeshadow palettes:
These two limited edition 5-Couleurs Eyeshadows are embossed with a floral pattern inspired by embroidered designs on delicate tulle. The Garden Pastels harmony features shadows of pale pink, buttercup yellow and luminous greens. The Garden Roses harmony includes soft pinks, Parma violet, silver and purple.
Garden Roses is a beautifully iridescent mix of pastel purples and soft pinks with a silver flash. Every shade is smooth and soft. They are all rather frosty, the first three providing a soft sheen, while the silver and parma violet provide the real color. I experienced no fall out with these shades. They are swatched above clockwise on top of bare skin, no primer.
PSA – when swatching I hit one of the roses too hard and it crumbled a bit. I think because of the design that area is a little softer, so if you’re using, head for the non-rose area to save your product!
For the EOTD I wanted to do something a little different. By way of habit, I usually gravitate towards to darker color for my crease, in this case I’d go for the middle purple shade. While I did this look I kept it in my head “do not put the purple in the crease, woman!”. Though, for the full face look I’ll do later with this collection, it’s likely I will LOL.
For this eye, after applying my UDPP, I put the middle purple shade all over the lid and a bit past the crease leaving a bit of the inner corner bare. I put the bottom right pastel purple shade above the crease and used the top right shade to highlight. I popped the bottom left silver shade in the inner corners. I used MAC Ash Violet Fluidline as a top liner and kept it close to the lash lines and winging it out for a bit of a sexier look. I used Chanel Grenat Stylo Yeux Liner to waterline on the bottom and applied Chanel Rose Platine Stylo Yeux Liner below the lower lashes. I used the top left shade of Dior Garden Roses overtop of Rose Platine to make it pop a bit more. The mascara is Le Metier de Beaute Anamorphic Lash Mascara in Aubergine.
I think this look would be perfect for your spring fling or late afternoon/evening “Garden Party”.

Stunning! It'd be said to ruin the rose overlay though. 🙁 x

Pretty, but it'd be too pale for me! I love how it looks on you, though. It's like a lighter version of Petal Shine!!
