NARS Grand Palais Eyeshadow Duo is part of the Fall 2011 Collection and is described on Sephora.com as silvery taupe/dusty rose. Happily, that description is spot on. I’m always excited when descriptions (pics and words) on websites match what you’ll see and get in real life.
Grand Palais makes for a very elegant, demure, smokey evening eye. It really doesn’t HAVE to be evening, but I see it there. The silvery taupe side is nice and soft, very easy to apply. The dusty rose side feels chalky, but actually applies well and blends seamlessly.
At first glance, these two shades don’t seem conventional together. Quite a few of NARS duos I would never actually use together… Grand Palais totally blew my mind. I’m always down for a taupe shade, but I’m totally drawn to the beauty of this eye.
For this EOTD I began by using Urban Decay Primer Potion in Eden and placing the right shade (dusty rose) in the crease. I used the left silvery taupe side and applied that to the lid and a bit above the crease. I then took the dusty rose color again and blended more of it into the crease and went up. I also placed some of this in the outer V area. For an eyeliner I started off with Dior Trinidad Black BUT it wasn’t dark enough so I placed Eyeko Black Graffiti Eyeliner Pen on top of it. For mascara I used Benefit BADgal Lash Mascara on top and bottom lashes.
NARS Grand Palais Eyeshadow Duo is Limited Edition and retails for $33. You can pick this up at NARS counters nationwide, Sephora, and narscosmetics.com
