October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Whether a lump is benign or malignant feeling that lump for the first time, (if you self exam which you SHOULD) or being told at an exam that a lump was found, can be terrifying.
I couldn’t even imagine what that would be like. The closest I’ve ever come was after I had Owen I was in the shower getting washed and felt a lump. I called my doctor bawling and she explained to me that sometimes after you have a baby the milk glands can make a lump and to call back if it was still there after I breast fed. It wasn’t, thank goodness, but it was still an awful experience. All I could think about what how I just had this beautiful baby boy and what if I wasn’t around to ever see him grow. SELF CHECK! Early detection is KEY.
I encourage you to go to this site and educate yourself on what breast cancer is, the stages, and what you can do to lower your risk.
