Since August (!!!!!) Holiday makeup collections have been out in full force and they’re showing no signs of slowing down. Because I love to shop I thought it’d be fun to share with you a few beauty items I picked up and a few that are on my wishlist (based on reviews from websites and other bloggers). Note: these items are, for the most part, limited edition. Shop early!
In alphabetical order:
Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette($42.00 // ULTA Beauty). I bought this when it first released and am obsessed with it. You know you’ve heard of it, you know you want it. I also need that Mario palette!
beautyblender® + Too Faced Holiday Kit($40.00 // Sephora). I’m obsessed with this. It’s baby pink AND it has an awesome beautyblender AND one of my favorite TF highlighters AND a blotterazzi that I LOVE. Everyone just go ahead and buy me this for my bday. I’ll wait.
BECCA Blushed With Light Palette($34.00 // Sephora). BECCA blushes are just so pretty and glowy… one of the few brands where I don’t mind my blushes to shimmer a bit because it’s not overkill and doesn’t accent pores.
Benefit Cosmetics Sassy Lassie “Chick Picks” Beauty Bestsellers Kit($39.00 // Sephora). So many new products, so little time. This kit features 4 of the must-have products from the brand, all of which I love!
Bobbi Brown New York Palette($65.00 // Nordstrom). Sure, the colors are something you might already own… but you guys know how I love packaging. Also how much I LOVE New York. There are also kits for Paris and London!
Burberry Beauty Festive Set($115.00 // Nordstrom). Military Red Lipstick is one of my fave reds ever and it’s in this kit. That along with nail polish and a lot of glow make it a NEED.
Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Muse Luxury Palette($52.00 // Nordstrom). Excellent shadow quality from this brand PLUS all the gold tones you need to do holiday in one palette.
IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Essentials Your Superhero Eyes Must-Have Eye Set($28.00 // ULTA Beauty). Oh, that’s a mouthful… but Superhero MATTE shades that you can transform into non-matte shades? Great product performance and a fabulous price. Own you some IT.
Jouer Powder Highlighter($24.00 // Nordstrom). Particularly in the shade Rose Quartz. Citrine seems to be the hot seller… but Rose Quartz is where it’s at.
Kat Von D Everlasting Mini Liquid Lipstick Set($49.00 // Sephora). Though Lolita 2 is my fave (and not in this set) there are a ton of shades that I’d love to try and the color palette is one I gravitate towards. Except for maybe that purple… but I’d try it 😉
LORAC Mega Pro Palette 3($59.00 // ULTA Beauty). LORAC has always had wonderful shadows and I love their palettes… but Mega Pro 3 is really speaking to me in all the ways.
MAKE UP FOR EVER Artistic Lip Ink and Brush Set ($40.00 // Sephora). I love a good red and I love how different the product is. Definitely a good shade for the holidays!
PÜR Cosmetics The Perfect Matte 5 Pc Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick Collection w/ Lip Oil($34.00 // ULTA Beauty). Another long product name but you have no idea how long I’ve wanted to try this liquid lipstick. I work fo the brand and can’t get my hands on them! Insanely popular, must have.
Sephora Favorites Trending: Beauty’s Most Coveted($75.00 // Sephora). Fave brands + fave products = gift set win. Give to yourself 😉
Tarte Tartelette Treasures Eye Set ($59.00 // ULTA Beauty). Tartelette in Bloom and Tarteist Mascara are some of my favorite products. I haven’t tried the Double Take Eyeliner but at a $92.00 value for just $59.00 I’ll take my chances.
Urban Decay Junkie Vice Lipstick Palette($35.00 // Sephora). The only lip palette I’ve ever LOVED. It’s a good deal and full of must-have cold weather shades.
Sure, I was excited for the BECCA x Jaclyn Hill collab. But when I heard about the Too Faced The Power of Makeup By NIKKIETUTORIALS($56.00 // Sephora) launch I learned how excitement can reach a whole other level. I’m not a fan girl by any stretch of the imagination, but I do really appreciate good artistry. While Nikkie may be what some call an “insta-artist” there’s no doubt that she is an artist, and an incredibly talented one at that. She’s got good technique and an excellent eye for color and trends. Of course I wanted her collab! Buy alllll the things!
All that being said I’m going to be real with you guys about this collection of products. I’ve had it for a few weeks now and really took some time with it. I played around with everything in here far more than I have with any other product that I’ve ever reviewed. Why? Because I wanted to be absolutely sure of how everything performed and how I felt about it – since the reviews online seemed so love/hate.
Starting off the packaging is love. Because I love leopard. The fact that they threw in some pink and mirrored gold accents. Honey, sign me up. The palette itself opens up like a thin book (and I do appreciate it being thin, which makes it an easy pack for travel) without a mirror (which saddens me because it sort of ruins that perfect for travel vibe) and inside you’ll see 9 x 0.004 oz eye shadow shades, 2 x 0.36 oz Love Flush Long-Lasting Blush shades, 1 x 0.11 oz Highlighter, 1 x 0.11 oz Bronzer, 1 x 0.035 oz Glamour Dust Glitter Pigment, 1 x 0.17 oz Shadow Insurance 24-Hour Eye Shadow Primer, 1 x 0.17 oz Better Than Sex Mascara and 1 x 0.015 oz Sketch Marker Liquid Art Eyeliner.
Let’s start in the palette, with the eye shadows, since they’re the main feature here. You’re getting 9 shades in Painkiller, Frosted Yum, Sugar Coated, Wham Bam, Makeup and Chill, Ivy, Wanted, Mystic Hour and Irresistible.
Ivy is a matte, pale white shade. A lot of pigment and perfect for under the brow. Love.
Sugar Coated is a frosty pale pink with a silvery look to it. It’s beautiful to look at and to swatch and it’s ok at the inner corner of the eye… but it’s pretty sheer when you wear it. It didn’t do what I hoped it would pigment-wise. This one could have been the star of the entire collection. Not a love.
Frosted Yum is a metallic silver. This one was also a shade that swatched beautifully but was a lot more sheer than I thought it would be (not as much as Sugar Coated). It works best pressed onto the lid with a firm, flat brush (think MAC 239) or blended into other shades. It was a like.
Irresistible is a metallic gold. Like Sugar Coated and Frosted Yum it was also a beautiful swatch but more sheer than I thought (yet not as much as Frosted Yum). It also worked best pressed to the lid with a firm, flat brush or blended into other shades. It was a like.
Painkiller is a matte, medium tan that is my most perfect transition shade. The pigment was fabulous and it performed like a dream. Love.
Makeup & Chill is a matte, warm brown with fabulous pigment. It also performed like a dream and was, shockingly to me, the star of the palette. Love.
Mystic Hour is a metallic deep teal and probably my biggest disappointment. Swatched it’s the color of my dreams. On the lid it faded out into a mostly light blue shade. I didn’t use it over any other color, just the primer on my bare lid. I used it to create a halo eye for the Meghan Trainor concert (side note, I did get to meet her in person and the first thing she said was that she loved my eye look, so at least it DID look okay lol) and the look didn’t crease, but it wasn’t the effect I envisioned for such a beautiful color. Not a love.
Wham Bam is a bright, metallic purple. Normally this is a shade I’d stay clear of. I love my purples but this one just looks so bright and almost flashes a blue when the light catches it right. I found the formula on it to be a bit dry and I had to press two coats of the shade onto the lid with a firm, flat brush to make it even and fully opaque. The color did fade slightly which ended up making it more wearable, which made me happy but likely won’t make you happy if you’re wanting that in your face purple. If the formula would have been easier to work with, for me, this would have been a love.
Wanted is a matte black. It was really easy to swatch and felt very smooth. On the eye it isn’t as pigmented but did work well blended into other colors. It’s not the best matte black out there, but it’s absolutely not the worst. It was a like.
Also in the palette are four cheek products – I Will Always Love You and Justify My Love Love Flush Long-Lasting Blush, Chocolate Soleil Bronzer and Champagne Truffle Highlighter. I found the blush shades to be very pigmented and on par with the full sized versions (full review on those here) and I also really liked Chocolate Soleil Bronzer and Champagne Truffle Highlighter.
There are some reports of the bronzer being dry and hard to get color from – I personally didn’t have that issue and liked both the bronzer and highlighter. I can’t say if the bronzer performs the same as a full sized version, since it’s been awhile since I’ve owned that (I have another small version here that I use quite a bit), but I was able to swatch, wear and use the palette bronzer without issue.
In addition to the palette itself you’re also getting a little bag of goodies which holds the Glamour Dust Glitter Pigment, Shadow Insurance 24-Hour Eye Shadow Primer, Better Than Sex Mascara and Sketch Marker Liquid Art Eyeliner.
Right off, if you’ve been around here for all the years (hayyyyyy) you know that Too Faced Shadow Insurance doesn’t work very well for me. My lids are incredibly oily and I’ve found with this primer that my shadows will crease within a few hours. For the sake of the review I did try it again and had the same results. I did find that it worked well at holding the Glamour Dust Glitter Pigment on my eye look. I did a halo eye using Mystic Hour and Frosted Yum then lightly dabbed a bit of TFSI over Frosted Yum, immediately followed by the glitter. It held all night.
By the same token, if you’ve been around awhile, you know that I am a fan of the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara formula. The shade you’re getting in this collection is a limited edition, not available anywhere else color called Purple. It’s purple and matches the shade of the Wham Bam eye shadow perfectly. I found that this mascara was on par with the original formula and did well with lasting volume and thickness. With colored mascaras I tend to like to wear them only on the tips of the lashes and/or the lower lashes.
One of the main reasons I splurged on this collection was because I’d wanted to buy the Too Faced Sketch Marker Liquid Art Eyeliner – which retails for $20.00 anyway and you are getting the full size product in this collection. You’re getting the shade Deep Black but, while that’s basic, it’s very much the most popular shade of liquid eyeliner and the one that Nikkie does use the most of. Stephanie Nicole had stated that the marker performs well over shadows but bleeds when on just your skin, which may or may not work for people that wear a cat eye – it just depends on how far you’re extending your eye shadow. I found that to be true but because of her review I made sure that I extended the shadow out a bit further than usual then cleaned up after I applied the marker so that the line wouldn’t bleed but would still look sharp.
I love the applicator on this eyeliner. The tip is perfect for precision. I’m not normally someone who does an extreme cat eye (my eyes are hooded and it’s a real PITA to do it) but this marker made it easy to get the exact shape I wanted with a precise looking tip at the wing. The liner dried quick enough so there wasn’t transfer above the lid and it stayed in place all day. I want them all now.
Finally, in this bag, you’re getting the main reason I bought this collection. Yes, friends, I did it all for the glitter. The Too Faced Glamour Dust Glitter Pigment is in the shade Glitterally (which is so much fun to say) and it’s a beautiful combo of gold, pink, blue… just *sigh*. It adhered well and lasted all day using TFSI (you’ll definitely need to use something to adhere it but it doesn’t have to be TFSI… I think any eye shadow primer or glitter glue… anything sticky…. will work well). My eyes are extremely sensitive and this glitter didn’t cause any sort of reaction and I had no issues with it falling into my eyes throughout the night (and I wore it to the Meghan Trainor concert). The only thing I don’t like is that there is no sifter. You don’t know fear until you’ve opened a glitter in your home with no sifter.
In addition to all of the above there is also a Glamour Guide which features three looks all created by Nikkie herself.
In short – it’s true… I don’t love everything, but I do still think that $56.00 is a good deal if you’re a fan of Nikkie and also love the shades/products in the collection. I’d absolutely buy it again even knowing that I may not be crazy about a few eye shadow shades. Everything else more than makes up for it.
I bought the Too Faced The Power of Makeup By NIKKIETUTORIALS during a pre-sale at Sephora where it sold out online. Please call your local Sephora and ULTA Beauty for their availability or check toofaced.com in case there is any more info. I suggest if you see it and you want it, you snag it – this collab is limited edition and will absolutely sell out completely.
This week, Allison from Never Say Die Beauty shares her favorites from one of her all-time favorite brands, Too Faced! Hop over to her blog to read Five Faves from Too Faced and find out why she thinks they rock.
Who knew you could own a day?! Huda Beauty has officially made July 29th National Lipstick Day and it’ll also be the day she launches her newest lip product, Liquid Matte. I’ve never tried anything from Huda Beauty, but this product is said to be “revolutionary” … so maybe I’ll give it a peek 😉
In honor of this now official “holiday” I want to share with you a bunch of lip products that I’ve tried out this Summer that I’ve been loving. Some aren’t Lipsticks per se but neither is a liquid matte (technically).
Lancome Juicy Shaker Bi-Phase Lip Oil($21.00 // Nordstrom). A cocktail for your lips. Of course I’m on board. There are a ton of shades in the Juicy Shaker line, but for the most part they’re all going to come off the same on your lips. Some will have a bit more pigmented than others to leave a nice tint (like Wonder Melon) but really this product is just a nourishing oil to add shine. Shake and pop on your lips – the cushion applicator is perfect for applying all over without a heavy feel. I chose Wonder Melon for the tint, Mint To Be because I love the color/it helps boost teeth whiteness and Boom Meringue for the scent because YUM. Yes, these are all subtly scented but light and LOVELY.
Lipstick Queen Lipstick($25.00 // Nordstrom). Color changing lipstick. If I wouldn’t have seen a YouTube video on these shades I never in a million years would have bought them. Frog Prince is Green but when I wear it my lips turn the most gorgeous shade of berry and it also leaves a slight stain behind. Hello Sailor is Blue but gives my lips a subtle mauve tone, almost a deepening of my natural lip pigment. These shades will look slightly different on everyone due to natural lip coloring and pH levels, but they’re gorgeous and very moisturizing.
MAC Tendertalk Lip Balm*($20.00 // Nordstrom). I’m so happy for the Tendertalk Lip Balms now being in a tube! I’m not a potted lip product fan by any means but I did like the formula of the original Tendertalk balms. Application is easy with these sheer-to-semisheer lip products. Smooth, moisturizing… exactly what I want and need out of my makeup life.
IT Cosmetics Je Ne Sais Quoi Lip Balm*($20.00 // ULTA Beauty). I am a big fan of IT Cosmetics but what you might not know is one of the very first products I fell in love with was the Je Ne Sais Quoi Vitality Lip Flush. Recently they released the lip balm and it’s just as wonderful and does the same as the Lip Flush, but it’s in a rounded shape. This was first released in a set featured on QVC, but I hope we see the single available soon!
Urban Decay Vice Lipstick*($17.00 // Sephora). UD covers all the bases with their #LipstickIsMyVice launch. Just in Wende’s Ten Top Picks I found 6 LOVES. How is that even possible?! Swatches here.
Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Pillow Plump XXL Lip Plumping Gloss*($14.00 // ULTA Beauty). I don’t use the term “ride or die” lightly, but this gloss is something I refuse to run out of. Slightly tingly, moisturizing and even plumps a bit. Swatches here.
Estée Edit Cocobalm*($22.00 // Sephora). Since I first tried this balm it’s been a Summer staple. The Cocobalms are moisturizing, slightly tinted and have a subtle coconut fragrance. That scent always screams Summer to me and the rounded packaging makes them handy to keep in your bag or even your car. Original review here.
Too Faced Melted Metal($21.00 // Sephora). These babies were around before any of the other brands decided metallic lips should be in. My shades of choice are Melted Metallic Peony (metallic dusty rose, shimmer finish) and Melted Metallic Debutante (metallic apricot rose, shimmer finish) mostly because I thought they’d be the perfect fit if I needed a Summer metallic lip. I love how the Melted lip colors stay on decently, have nice pigment and basically just POP!
Jouer Long-Wear Lip Crème Liquid Lipstick($18.00 // Nordstrom). Because I was so happy with my metallic Summer lips I wanted to get a more neutral tone to wear in the Fall. The praise has been high for the Jouer Liquid Lipsticks and I settled on buying Praline which is a pretty pink champagne metallic. It’s still metallic but not overdone.
Nudestix Skin Glossing Pencil*($24.00 // Sephora). Nudestix products are known for multi-tasking and this particular one is great for highlighting as well as wearing on the lips. It’s sheer and lightweight but perfect for toting along to touch-up your entire face.
Anastasia Liquid Lipstick($20.00 // ULTA Beauty). These liquid lipsticks stay on SO well and Crush is my latest purchase. A beautiful, neutral mauve for Fall – perfect for day or night wear. When you put the Nudestix pencil over-top it’ll gloss it up which looks amazing with a smokey eye.
Covergirl Katy Kat Matte Lipstick($8.99 // ULTA Beauty). It’s been a struggle to not go out and buy every single one of these. They have a nice, even pigment and feel comfortable on. My faves are shown below and swatches are here.
Sleek MakeUP Lip VIP Lipstick*($8.49 // Sleek MakeUP). Great, bold Summer selection with super pigment. These mattes are comfy to wear, last well and are a wee bit cheaper than the Covergirl mattes!
Of course as I was writing this up I thought of even more I love from other brands, but I think you get the idea 😉

It’s the most wonderful time of the beauty year!!! Holiday Gift Sets! For this week the bloggers of Makeup Wars are sharing their faves. I love when we do this post because it works as my wishlist for family… it’s so much easier to send them to a website than sit there and try to remember what I liked. PLUS the Sephora VIB sale is going on so hopefully this list will you narrow down your list… or grow it… whatever 😉
Breakups To Makeup Holiday Bag($29.00 // Sephora). Okay… not a gift set. But even though I need more makeup bags like a hole in the head I’m obsessed with all the ones from Breakups to Makeup. The holiday bags are limited edition and yes, I need them both.
Kat Von D Lolita Lip Duo($19.50 // Sephora). It’s awesome Lolita that everyone loves and also Lolita II! I’ve heard great things about this formula and I’ve been dying to try it. These shades are perfect for the Fall/Winter season so the duo is a must-have for me!
BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector® Opal Glow On The Go($20.00 // Sephora). Since I got Champagne Glow I’ve wanted all things BECCA. I also already bought the Pressed Champagne Glow Palette because not only is that shade in there but so are two more gorgeous shades! Opal Glow On The Go would give me a chance to try out another shade as well as the liquid form of the highlighters. I also want the Ombre Rouge Eye Palette. All the things, k?
Lancôme Noel Eye Set ($38.00 // Sephora). This is a great set to try out some of the best products from Lancôme. It comes with the best selling mascaras and eye-makeup remover and the new Drama Liqui-pencil (reviewed here) which do.not.budge.
Too Faced Melted Kisses & Sweet Cheeks($36.00 // Sephora). This set is just adorable. Beyond it’s cuteness the product quality of the full sized versions are amazing (all the blushes are swatched and reviewed here).
tarte Light Of The Party Collector’s Makeup Case ($59.00 // Sephora). I actually already bought this… mostly for the sequin case… but I had to share with you. Tarte has excellent quality makeup products and in this case you’re getting 30 eye shadows, 3 cheek products, a double-ended shadow brush and mascara all in that beautiful case. It works out to be less than $2 per product. A steal!
Benefit Real Cheeky Party Holiday Blush Palette($42.00 // Sephora). Packaging wise Benefit hands-down wins Holiday every single year. One of my favorites every time is the blush palette. This year it comes with 5 face products (including my fave Rockateur – reviewed here), Watt’s Up! and They’re Real! Mascara and Liner.
Urban Decay Vice4($60.00 // Sephora). Every year I say the packaging for Vice is my favorite but this year is beyond. They’ll never top the gorgeous holo shattered mirror effect. In Vice4 you’re getting 20 new eyeshadow shades and a double-ended brush as well as a coordinating bag to store it in.
Make Up For Ever 15 Artist Shadow Palette($59.00 // Sephora). These artist shadows are amazing and this palette gives a nice color assortment for you to play around with. There’s also a step-by-step guide included just in case you don’t know where to start.
bling.ring kit by beautyblender($29.00 // Sephora). Who doesn’t want something bejeweled to set their beautyblender on? It certainly looks prettier than just laying it over the case to dry. Definitely prettier on the vanity and a nice stocking stuffer size!
Elsa and Anna Compact Mirror($32.00 // Sephora). I can’t even tell you how obsessed I am with these Disney mirrors that Sephora puts out. Up until the huge release from this year I had them all (see here). However I truly can’t justify buying all of the new ones. If I had to pick one it’d be this Frozen mirror. I think it’s gorgeous and Frozen is one of my favorite Disney movies!
Jem and the Holograms Collection($16.00-$36.00 // Sephora). I’m arguably the biggest Jem fan in the world. Ask my mom. Anyway I need all of these things. IDK when or where I’ll wear so much hot pink but IDGAF. Get in my life.

Have you ever walked into ULTA Beauty with a goal? Of course you have. About a month ago I walked in with the goal of swatching the Too Faced Love Flush Long-Lasting Blushes ($26.00 // ULTA Beauty) and picking two. TWO. When I saw them online I was convinced two was enough. As you can probably tell by the first pic… I was wrong. And I can admit that, because I’m a legit person.
I ended up buying all six of the Too Faced Love Flush Long-Lasting Blushes. Not even kidding I was in there with them for an hour swatching and trying to decide…. was it the pretty boxes?
….was it the girly, fun, plastic mirrored hearts that encased these beauties?
Was it the overly adorable flowers and bunnies imprinted on the blush itself? I imagine a mixture of all of those things drew me in initially. But every single one of these blushes swatched beautifully. Pigmented, soft… those with a slight shimmer had just enough of it. Wearable for all ages… It was truly impossible to pick just two.
Baby Love // soft dusty nude w/ fine gold sparkle
I Will Always Love You // gilded peach
Love Hangover // perfect warm pink
How Deep is Your Love // watermelon pink
Justify My Love // bright pink w/fine gold sparkle
Your Love is King // plumy rose
After purchase did they live up to the hype? Yes, yes, yes! These blushes lasted 14-hours on me (because I couldn’t go 16-hours.. that ain’t my kind of day, you guys… 14 was pushing it) and I saw no fading to speak of. The pigment and longevity is incredible and I’m so excited to have such beautiful blushes in my collection. I don’t regret purchasing all six even for one minute.
Below the Too Faced Love Flush Long-Lasting Blushes are swatched dry with no primers underneath:
See what I mean?!
Which of the Too Faced Love Flush Long-Lasting Blushes would you pick? Or, like me, will you be needing all six 😉 please say yes.
Because I bought the Too Faced Chocolate Bar Palette and also the Semi-Sweet Palette I didn’t think I needed to buy the Summer 2015Too Faced Sugar Pop Palette ($36.00 // Sephora). That is … until I was enabled. The enabler was enabled to buy this palette from several other bloggers – most notably Phyrra (who is the main reason I buy any beauty product that is bold or out of my comfort zone) and Vampy Varnish (who is most similar to my skin tone).
The interior packaging matches the exterior in that you’ll not only want to eat it but you’ll love staring at it. Macarons. Stacked macarons. Just feed me and then get on my eye balls. It’s so sweet and girlie and cute! As is with all of the Too Faced nine shadow palettes this is in a travel-friendly tin case with a mirror living under the Glamour Guide at the top.
What is this Glamour Guide I speak of? The Glamour Guide is a tutorial booklet with instructions on how to get three looks (shown below):
Sweet & Spicy
This is one of the most fun palettes that I’ve ever had from Too Faced. The shades are the perfect combo of fun vs. neutral, day time sexy vs night time sultry. Nine shades are included in the Sugar Pop Palette – Rock Candy(ivory w/ small gold glitters), Macaron(apricot w/ small gold glitters), Malted Milk Ball(chocolate w/ bronze flash), Strawberry Ice(icy pink frost), Sugared Violet(grape metallic), Blackberry(deep plum matte), Peach Fuzz(pale peach w/ small gold glitters), Bubblegum(mid-tone pink w/glitter) and Blue Raspberry(mid-tone ocean blue metallic). All of the shades were top notch except Blackberry, which wasn’t too bad but was a little on the dry side and Blue Raspberry swatches nicely but really needs a good primer and a good brush to look just as fabulous on the eye.
The swatches below are done dry on bare skin with no primer underneath:
So I just got back from my son’s baseball game (where he kicked major butt, I might add!) and it was HOT. But that good hot where it feels awesome but you don’t sweat at all. Sadly Happily everything makes me think about makeup and while I’m sitting there the opposing teams bold orange uniforms reminded me of Summer Lipsticks! Orange-red, coral Summer lipsticks, to be exact! Between the heat and the uniforms I thought this would be a great shade to focus on for my Top 10 Summer Lipsticks post!
Dior Addict Tie Dye Lipstick in Coral Trip ($33.00 // Nordstrom). I recently reviewed these lipsticks here and am obsessed. Glossy, hydrating and wearable day or night with buildable pigment. You can’t ask for much more! Unfortunately these are limited edition so if you love this one as much as I do get your hands on it asap!
Too Faced Melted Metal in Debutante ($21.00 // Sephora). I recently picked a few of these up at Sephora and haven’t had the chance to post about them yet but they are perfect for Summer.. majorly metallic, but in a wearable way, which is important to me.
OCC Metallic Lip Tar in Manhunter ($18.00 // OCC). This caught my eye when I was buying the Too Faced Melted Metals. It’s a seriously orange-red with golden shimmer. Not so much a day-time shade, IMO, but when you wear this out at night it definitely screams “I mean business and I’m here to run sh…“. I’m not seeing it on the Sephora website but you can still pick it up on the Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics site.
PIXI Beauty Shea Butter Lip Balm in Coral Crush ($8.00 // Target). A moisturizing, tinted lip balm that packs the perfect punch of color for day or night. Swatches and review are here.
Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Lip Balm in Orange ($5.69 // Target). This little balm amps up your lips more than you’d think but it’s nice to keep in your bag for a quick dose of tinted moisture because it’s easy to reapply.
Pur Minerals Pout Pen in Fuzzy Navel ($20.00 // ULTA Beauty). If you’re looking for a color to last you’ve got to keep a Pout Pen handy. I love that it comes with the stain and then a balm on the other side! Swatches and review are here.
MAC Lipstick in Morange ($16.00 // Nordstrom). How could anyone do a round-up of bold Summer lippies and not include MAC Morange? It’s probably the first lipstick that pops into your head when you think Orange Lipstick – definitely a fave of many!
Milani Color Statement Moisture Matte Lipstick in Matte Passion ($5.99 // Milani). A comfortable and bold matte lip that won’t dry you out! Swatches and review are here.
NARS Audacious Lipstick in Lana ($32.00 // Sephora). This is arguably one of my favorite lipstick formulas so of course it’s got to be included in a round up of screamingly fabulous bright lipsticks. Lana is my pick for this round-up but it’s the dream to own the all as they are all loved equally by me… like children.
Urban Decay Revolution High Color Lip Gloss in Punch Drunk ($22.00 // Sephora). While not a lipstick it’s definitely pigmented enough to be so it’s okay that I include it here, right?! When I saw these I needed them all, and I do have a few coming up for swatching and review 😉 For now, bask in the love for Punch Drunk!

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day. But you knew that. Chances are your plans this weekend are to go see 50 Shades of Grey this evening with your girlfriends and drink pitchers of Long Island Iced Teas (which may or may not have been an option for me) and then tomorrow spend the day getting ready for the date night to end all date nights. Sunday equals recovery day. All weekend the major things on a gals mind are red lips and pretty gifts. Here are some of my current faves of both.
My friend’s little girl, who just turned 6, was getting ready for her Valentine’s Day party at school and asked her mom if she could wear red lipstick. “Why?” her mom asked. “Because you wear red lipstick on Valentine’s Day. Every one knows that”. I mean… truth. For V-day I absolutely auto-reach for red. Day-to-day I wear a nude or pinky-nude lip… sometimes just a lip balm. But on Valentine’s Day, or during a Valentine’s Day activity (such as a party) I reach for the red. In honor of this Hallmark Holiday here are some excellent red or reddish choices that you can buy to wear this Valentine’s Day (or any date night, really!).
In addition to red lips there is also minor major pampering involved in V-day. You want to look, feel and smell the prettiest. (Note: even if you’re not going anywhere do this anyway, because every one deserves all the pampering they desire!). And, you know, buy all the things because instant gratification is awesome too.
Clinique is synonymous with Happy. Everyone knows about Happy. But have you checked out Happy Heart? Happy Heart Perfume Spray*($38.00 // Clinique) is like a warmer, softer and more floral version of Happy and I’m seriously in lust with it. It may or may not have to be my actual Valentine. $10.00 of the purchase price goes towards the Happy Hearts Fund. In addition to the perfume there is a Happy Hearts Chubby Stick in Plumped Up Pink* ($17.00 // Clinique) available.. you know I love me some Chubby Sticks. This particular one also benefits the Happy Hearts Fund so $3.00 of each one sold will be donated to the organization.
Sherrieblossom ICEbOX*. The end all be all of ALL of the makeup organizers and storage out there. It’s pricey but then you get what you pay for. If you’re into luxe and quality, this is the one you want your makeup to live in. I reviewed the ICEbOX Wide here but I have my eye on the Little London next!
OPI Infinite Shine Nail Polish* ($12.50 each // Ulta). You need to have your nails looking fresh on Valentine’s Day. While the OPI Infinite Shine system didn’t last any longer on me than their usual polishes but the shine could not be beat throughout the entire wear test (which I showed on my Instagram account). My nails were just as shiny on Day 1 as they were on Day 5. I’ll have swatches and a better review up next week.
Nail Butter*($24.00 // NailButter.com). If you’re going to be flashing the Infinite Shine you better make sure your cuticles aren’t all raggedy. Nail Butter is fantastic for making your cuticles look renewed without worrying about greasy hands or gooping on too much product. Keep using and you’ll have the healthiest looking hands out of allll your peoples. Unless they use it too in which case at least you’ll match. It’s also great for those awful dry areas on your elbows, toes, feet… just bathe yourself in it.
Peter Lamas has two products currently out that you should consider putting into your routine. The ExfoliatingPumpkin Facial Scrub*($19.36 // Amazon) and the Nourishing Buriti Oil Moisturizer*($19.00 // Amazon). I’m not super crazy about the scent of the moisturizer but it feels SO GOOD. The “oil” aspect threw me off because I expected greasy and it definitely was not. This is meant for the face and neck but since I’m so prone to break outs I’ve been using it on my hands. The scrub smells amazing and isn’t too abrasive. I have sensitive skin so it’s something I could only use once a week or so, but it does a great job at polishing my skin and making it glow.
ALEX AND ANI got with The Child Mind Institute and Charity by Design to launch the Little Brown Bear charm ($28.00 // Bloomingdale’s) which will directly benefit the Child Mind Institute, the only independent nonprofit organization exclusively dedicated to transforming mental health care for children. 20% of bangle sales will go to the Child Mind Institute. The charm, with its teddy bear image, is a reminder of the carefree days of childhood.
Lather has 100% All-Natural Lip Balms* now available three tinted versions ($7.50 each // Lather)! These feel, smell and taste soooo good. Super nourishing it’s seriously like a treat every single time I use one. Today is the last day to enter their giveaway on Instagram so run!
I feel like this listing also serves as a gift guide of sorts. Personally, I’d flip out in happiness to get a goodie bag with all or even some of these things inside. Add in some Godiva and I’m yours.
What is your go-to lip shade for Valentine’s Day/date night?

Again, not a Makeup Wars week, but we each have an exciting post to share with you – ALL of us are doing looks or swatches with the Too Faced Cat Eyes Palette! You are going to have so many looks to choose from your head… it may spin.
The packaging of this palette is my fave ever… leopard. Or is that Ocelot? IDK, love that pattern either way. The outer box is framed in the leopard while the interior, tin box that holds the shadows is leopard good-ness all over.
Before I get to the looks/tutorials note that this palette does come with a How-To Glamour Guide which also gives you a step-by-step way to get each of the three looks. I rarely follow those, so mine are going to be completely different. But, just in case you’re interested, here it is:
Tutorial 1 – Day.
Get the look. (1) Begin with a thin layer of eye shadow primer (I used NARS Smudge Proof). (2) Use a firm brush to press Leopard (dry) all over the eye lid and into the crease. (3) Use a crease brush to blend Tiger’s Eye into the crease and above. (4) Using a clean brush apply Purrr at the inner corners of the eye and at the brow bone to highlight. I also blended this downward to help blend out the crease color. (5) Get a liner brush and apply Leopard (wet) as an eye liner to the top and bottom. You can also waterline the bottom lash line with this. Sub a brown pencil liner in if your eyes are extremely sensitive. I used this same brush to put a little of Tiger’s Eye under the outer third of the lower lash line. (6) Stick your lashes (optional, I used Eylure Katy Perry Lashes in Feline Fierce) and apply 2 coats of mascara. I used L’Oreal Miss Manga for this look.
Tutorial 2 – Classic.
Get the look. (1) Begin with a thin layer of eye shadow primer (I used NARS Smudge Proof). (2) Use a firm brush to press Jungle Love (dry) all over the eye lid and into the crease. (3) Use a crease brush to blend Pussy Cat into the crease and above. (4) Using a clean brush apply Meow at the inner corners of the eye and at the brow bone to highlight. I also blended this downward to help blend out the crease color. (5) Get a liner brush and apply Jungle Love (wet) as an eye liner to the top and bottom. You can also waterline the bottom lash line with this. Sub an indigo pencil liner in if your eyes are extremely sensitive. I used this same brush to put a little bit of Pussy Cat under the outer third of the lower lash line. (6) Stick your lashes (optional, I used Eylure Katy Perry Lashes in Feline Fierce) and apply 2 coats of mascara. I used L’Oreal Miss Manga for this look.
Tutorial 3 – Fashion.
Get the look. (1) Begin with a thin layer of eye shadow primer (I used NARS Smudge Proof). (2) Use a firm brush to press Panther (dry) all over the eye lid and into the crease. (3) Use a crease brush to blend Kitty Glitter into the crease and above. (4) Using a clean brush apply Kitten at the inner corners of the eye and at the brow bone to highlight. I also blended this downward to help blend out the crease color. (5) Get a liner brush and apply Panther (wet) as an eye liner to the top and bottom. You can also waterline the bottom lash line with this. Sub a black pencil liner in if your eyes are extremely sensitive. I used this same brush to put a little more of Panther under the outer third of the lower lash line. (6) Stick your lashes (optional, I used Eylure Katy Perry Lashes in Feline Fierce) and apply 2 coats of mascara. I used L’Oreal Miss Manga for this look.
