August 2014 GlossyBox Swatches & Review

August marks the third anniversary (BIRTHDAYYYY!) for Glossybox! In celebration of year three they’ve sent out what is one of my most favorite boxes all year (though not as good as the Bergdorf Goodman box card! hehe). Make sure you go the whole way to the bottom of this post to get a SNEAK PEEK at the contents of the September box!

Currently available in over 16 countries, GlossyBox has become known for their full sized products, high quality samples and prestigious brands such as NARS, Lancome, Laura Mercier, Tarte and more.

Let’s check out the goodies inside the August 2014 GLOSSYBOX!

From Eslor, Firming Collagen Day Cream. This all natural cream is said to improve elasticity and prevent the early appearance of wrinkles. I’m all about that. I can’t speak to the long-term effects of this skincare product because I only tested it out once to get a feel for it but I did like the way my skin felt and looked after application. Based on that I’d be interested in taking a longer run at it.

From Uberliss, Hydrating Shampoo & Conditioner. These products are said to give a healthy shine and lots of hydration thanks to ingredients like lemon peel, keratin, royal jelly and more! When used together I loved how the shampoo and conditioner made my hair look and feel. These products are also sulfate free.

From Sparitual, Nail Lacquer. The shade I received was Uncharted and it’s from the Explore Collection (which was from Spring 2014). I thought the shade was beautiful and it applied very well. Opaque in 2 coats.

From Kryolan for Glossybox, Highlighter in Cashmere. Okay, so as much as I love me some Eyeko and as much as I love me some Sparitual… this was my favorite piece from the August box. To celebrate birthday number three Kryolan created this special-edition, multipurpose highlighter that GlossyGals can use on their cheekbones, eyes… any area that needs that lit-from-within glow. It’s very subtle and is very brightening. I’m wearing it below as an eye base from lid to brow.

From Eyeko, Skinny Liquid Eyeliner. This has been a fave of mine for a long time and I love that GB included a small size in this months box for me to lug around with me in my already over-flowing purse. It’s a nice dark line and stays all day long. I’m wearing it below over-top of the Kryolan, though it looks a bit lighter because of the base. The mascara is also from Eyeko and is the Black Magic Mascara in the shade Midnight Blue.

The August shipment was wonderful for me because the Kryolan Highlighter is something I’ve been using daily and I received so many products that I love – especially the Eyeko liner, which has been a fave of mine for awhile. While last month was really skincare heavy this month makes up for it with only one skincare product and lots of beauty. NO duds this month!

With GlossyBox you get a bit of everything, makeup, skin care, hair product… I love that this subscription box is sure to cover all of the bases, every single month.

GLOSSYBOX is a subscription service. You sign up on the website and then from there you can order your subscription based on one month, six months, or a year. You’ll answer a series of questions and based off of that, you will receive a customized box. This is all pretty standard for a beauty subscription service.

The price is a bit higher than that of other services you may have heard of or belong to. At $21 I would expect double the awesomeness of what I’d receive from, say, Birchbox.

GLOSSYBOX will always offer a MINIMUM of five products. After receiving your box, you can fill out more surveys in order to rate the products you received so they can better tailor your next package. So, basically, after a few months of the service, your packages should be PERFECT.

**TIP – Make sure you review the products received in your GLOSSYBOX to receive 20 GLOSSYDots per review. You can use these toward your own free box!**

Next month (technically this month aka September) Glossybox is partnering with Harper’s Bazaar! It’s going to be another great month (see pic of the full box leak below!). Sign up now to ensure you get in for September!Enter code FLAWLESS at checkout to get a free Boscia BB Cream ($38 value) with your purchase of either a monthly, 3, 6 or 12 month Glossybox subscription (valid until September 30, 2014)!

SpaRitual introduces the Water Collection for Spring 2012

Portion of proceeds donated to Surge

Benefits Clean, Safe, Drinking Water

SpaRitual is pleased to introduce Water 2012 for spring, which is inspired by the creative flow of energy that travels through us, much in the same way water travels throughout the earth. The collection encourages us to listen to the undercurrents of our subconscious that allows positive thoughts, emotions, and creativity to rise to the surface of our conscious mind. Each nail lacquer also serves as a gentle reminder that protecting our natural resources for generations to come is vital.

The global water crisis does exist and as SpaRitual ritualistically supports an organization that is aligned with the brands environmental, health, and wellness platform, this spring they have chosen to collaborate with the organization Surge. 20% of proceeds of the Water nail lacquer collection will be donated to the organization whose mission is to deliver clean drinking water to those who are in need.

Surge, co-founded by Chicago-based activist Shilpa Alva, is a U.S. non-profit organization that improves access to clean, safe water for communities around the world that need this resource for drinking and cooking. Surge increases public awareness of the global water crisis through education and investment in sustainable solutions that can alter peoples’ lives worldwide.

“Water is a necessity that no one should have to live without and together we hope to make sure that everyone has access to clean, safe, drinking water. This is a valuable partnership for us because SpaRitual sees the importance of expanding our reach to enable clean water to be part of every community. “– Shilpa Alva,

“The Water Collection represents the importance it has for our physical wellbeing (up to 70% of the human body is composed of water) and our emotional health (it’s a proven fact that water provides soothing benefits). Sadly, communities around the world lack access to clean drinking water,” says SpaRitual founder, Shel Pink. “We’re pleased to be involved with Surge, and to support the foundation’s efforts to help provide clean, safe, drinking water worldwide.’’

As a philosophy-driven brand, SpaRitual is deeply committed to helping one person at a time whether it is through direct support of safe drinking water or by sourcing safe ingredients. SpaRitual’s Water 2012 lacquers are free of DBP, Toluene, Formaldehyde, and Formaldehyde Resin, and are formulated to compliment slow-beauty practices.

Water shades include:

Hidden Reef, a shimmering coral

Deep, an iridescent reflection of moonlight

Ripple Effect, a creamy & dusty mauve
