My Anti-Residue Moment: product buildup! Part of being a blogger is testing a TON of product. A lot of which never actually makes it to the blog or even my social media (because it didn’t stand out to me). I have to be really careful about what type of products I put on my hair especially. My strands are getting older and they’re not as tough as they used to be, plus I pay a lot of money to get my highlights done every other month. Those highlights need to last. Because of that I have to make sure that the items I use personally are safe for color treated hair.
Since trying a ton of product means washing and styling my hair quite a bit and using a menagerie of things, not all of which are good, there can be quite a bit of buildup making my hair look flat and dull. Until now I’d never actually found a product that could detox my hair from all of the product testing but was also safe for color treated hair – but then Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo($6.49) happened and I couldn’t get it on my head fast enough.
Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo is a weekly treatment that instantly removes up to 90% of of hair dulling residue caused by other shampoos, conditioners and styling products. You can use the Neutogena Anti-Residue Shampoo for your treatment one day and then go back to your regular hair care products. Keep on with routine and then once a week – detox. This will help remove the excess oil and clean your hair thoroughly. The formula is mild, non-irritating and safe for all hair types.

Skincare. Whether you’re 15 or 85, we all need it. In this post I’m telling you about all of the latest skincare products I’ve been playing with and if they’ll be good in the Spring, Winter or even year round! I do have a lot to talk about, so bear with me. They ALL serve a purpose!
Aveeno. I have a ton of Aveeno products that I love! I’m a blogger ambassador for the brand so I get the opportunity to try out most of their items continuously. A few of my favorites are pictured below: Daily Moisturizing Lotion, Moisturizing Body Wash, Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer and (of course) Positively Radiant Makeup Removing Wipes. Aveeno products are fabulous if your skin is sensitive. It’s one of the few brands that use a light fragrance in some of the products and I can actually use without getting itchy. I use these products year round. Pick it up at your local drugstore!
Murad. This is another brand I’m obsessed with. If I didn’t have their Clarifying Cleanser and Clarifying Wipes in bulk I’d be having an anxiety attack right now. In this post I want to let you in on a few other products from the brand that I’m currently loving (but mostly you’ve seen them around on the blog before):
The Hydro-Dynamic Ultimate Moisture($72.00 // ULTA Beauty) has been wonderful for nighttime moisturizing. It’s not heavy but it gets the job done… I know this because when I wake up my skin doesn’t feel tight. It’s pricey but you get a lot of product (a little goes a very long way) and in terms of skincare I’ll pay for what works well, particularly if it works just as well (if not better) as a product that costs twice as much.
The Hydrating Toner($28.00 // ULTA Beauty) is something I like to spritz lightly on my face. Because it’s hydrating I give a little extra to my cheeks, which tend to be more dry in the Winter. I switch out this toner for the Clarifying Toner in the Spring/Summer when I don’t need as much hydration.
If you’re oily the Oil-Control Mattifier($39.50 // ULTA Beauty) is something to get on your list ASAP. It’s not a primer, but a product you use before your primer to keep the oiliest parts of your face (like the t-zone) shine-free for a bit longer.
The Advanced Active Radiance Serum($90.00 // ULTA Beauty). I tend to reach for this one more in the Spring and Summer but every once in awhile I do use it in the colder months. This serum contains vitamin C and is fabulous for brightening a dull complexion and it’s lightweight.
The Rapid Collagen Infusion for Lips($24.00 // ULTA Beauty) is going to give your lips a more youthful appearance and stave off any sort of wrinkling. I am a freak for never having lip wrinkles so I use this constantly. It’s also a fabulous way to prep your lips for a matte lipstick. It smooths them out so the lipstick won’t feel or look as drying.
The latest product I’m trying from Murad is the Eye Lift Firming Treatment($68.00 // Murad). This treatment comes in the bottle but also includes eye pads to apply the product to your under-eye area. Apply a few pumps to the pad and press under the eye. After 10-15 minutes remove and you’ll see instant improvement. If you continually use this 2-3 a week you’ll see even more improvement even after the first week. For the price the results are impressive!
I use these year round unless noted! You can pick up Murad Skincare at ULTA Beauty.
PIXI Beauty has a treat for your skin – Skintreats! Glowtion Day Dew($22.00 // Target) is a great brightening lotion for day, Glow Mud Mask ($22.00 // Target) helps to absorb oil and fight breakouts and Glow Mud Cleanser ($18.00 // Target) is gentle but contains 5% glycolic acid, hyaluronic acid, aloe vera, and avocado oil for a smoother complexion. The Hydrating Milky Mist($15.00 // Target) isn’t part of the Skintreats line but is still a fabulous addition for those of us that love to have hyaluronic acid in all aspects of our skincare. Use this to prep the skin before moisturizing and applying makeup. Pick up Pixi Skincare at Target!
Elizabeth Arden. The SUPERSTART Skin Renewal Booster($65.00 // Nordstrom) is non-greasy and perfect for day-time if you need to give your skin a boost while the FLAWLESS FUTURE Powered by Ceramide™ Caplet Serum($60.00 // Nordstrom) works great for evening skin tone and reducing the early signs of wrinkles. This are great for any season!
Yes to Coconut. Yes this is from the same company as Yes to Carrots and Yes to Cucumbers… all the Yes to! Each Yes to line focuses on a specific target issue. Let’s face it, though. Coconut fixes all the things. The items I tried out (below) are the Ultra Hydrating Overnight Eye Balm($15.99 // ULTA Beauty), the Ultra Hydrating Melting Cleanser($9.99 // ULTA Beauty) and the Ultra Hydrating Facial Mask($15.99 // ULTA Beauty). They ALL smell amazing feel incredible on the skin. Of the three, the Eye Balm is my favorite because when dryness happens wrinkles happen. Also my eyes tend to water and get dry at the outer corner and this balm has prevented it from happening this Winter. For me, these items are great for use in the Winter, but if you’re pretty dry year round, you’ll want them year round! I’m looking to pick up the cleaning wipes, hand cream and eczema relief spray to see how that works for my daughter and I. You can find Yes to products at Target and ULTA Beauty.
A Girl’s Gotta Spa!. Fellow Beauty Blogger Shannon from A Girl’s Gotta Spa! has several skincare items for your body! All of the items smell amazing and make your skin feel great – PLUS I’m happy to report the lotion (shown) that I’ve been using doesn’t make me itch. Perfect all year round! Items are priced from $22.00-$32.00 when purchased separately (or you can buy a set for $76.00 and save a few bucks) and if you sign up for her newsletter you can save 15%! Shop here.
LATHER. This is a fabulous, cruelty free brand that offers everything you need for body, hair, face, aromatherapy and more. I particularly love to use the soaps in any season, but I do like to change up the fragrances. Shop LATHER here.
The Body Shop. I remember even back in high school I loved going in to The Body Shop. Recently I’ve fallen in love with their Hemp Hand Protector($20.00 // The Body Shop). It’s ultra-moisturizing and has been fabulous this Winter for keeping my hands from getting too dry. Right now they’re offering Hemp Hand Protector in limited edition packaging where $2.20 of each sale of the cream will go directly into The Body Shop Foundation, which is “helping to increase awareness around the negative changes happening to our planet and to create positive change”.
Pacifica. I really haven’t met a makeup wipe I haven’t liked and I’d been dying to try out the Pacifica Coco Pure Makeup Removing Wipes($6.99 // Target). Like with most other makeup removing wipes I own I use these year round as the first step in makeup removal before washing my face at night or when I need to remove arm swatches.
Neutrogena. If you’ve read my blog for awhile you know that one of my favorite hand creams all year long for several years now has been the Neutraogena Norwegian Formula Hand Cream ($3.97 // Target). Super affordable, super kick butt and keeping my hands feeling nice. It doesn’t absorb quickly but I like to use it at night with gloves while I watch TV. While there is an un-noticable (to me) scent there is also an unscented version available.
AcnEase. This is a brand/product I’ve reviewed years ago and am now currently doing a four-post series on. The series is sponsored, but this mention is not. They have no idea I’m even putting them in this round-up. This is an herbal supplement to combat the evils of acne from the inside. It worked fabulously for me before and it’s working well for me again one month into the new regime. My first post is here and my second post will be coming soon! I’m not a doctor, so consult yours before trying anything new. Buy AcnEase here.
IT Cosmetics. Finally, skincare products from one of my favorite brands! Confidence in a Cream($48.00 // ULTA Beauty) is effective, lightweight and moisturizing. It’s fabulous in the winter and I still think it’ll work well for me in the Summer because it doesn’t sit on the skin. My full review can be found here.
Derma E. The Purifying 2-in-1 Charcoal Mask ($19.50 // ULTA Beauty) is an excellent choice if you’re hopping on that charcoal trend. It’s a mask that helps draw out impurities and gently exfoliate. I’ve read that if you have dry skin this might be irritating for you (it is meant for normal-to-oily skin types), so make sure you start out slowly (once a week).

My skin drips with the oil. Both a blessing and a curse. Over the years I’ve tried many (and by many I mean manyyyyyy) foundations. None keep me matte all day long (even though some say they will) but they do last for several hours and some are definitely way better than others. For this weeks Top 10 Tuesday I’m excited to share with you the Top 10 Foundations for Oily Skin!
IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation($35.00 // ULTA Beauty). Far and away one of my favorites. There’s enough coverage so that I can just dust the powder on before I run out the door. You don’t need to spend 5 minutes on your face when it only takes 5 seconds 😉
Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation($43.00 // Sephora). I reach for this quite a bit, even on days when I don’t need to be HD ready 😉 It provides excellent coverage which is something I’ve desperately needed lately!
Urban Decay Naked Skin Weightless Ultra Definition Liquid Makeup($40.00 // Sephora). This is fabulous for medium to full coverage. It feels like but still hides everything I don’t want people to notice.
Physician’s Formula Argan Wear Glow-Renewing BB Cream($13.19 // Target). I never would have thought Argan Oil would be great for my oily face but Physician’s Formula has proved me wrong. This is one I use when I want a bit more of a dewy finish. Yes, us oily people can glow also. It’s not always matte 😉
PUR Cosmetics 4-in-1 Liquid Veil Spray Foundation($39.00 // ULTA Beauty). This is best used sprayed directly to a beautyblender and patted in. Coverage is buildable up to full. I always reach for this when I want to look particularly flawless or I have any extra redness.
Lancome Dual Finish Versatile Powder Makeup($38.50 // Nordstrom). My HG from WAY back. Like high school way back! I’ve used this for literally half my life. That’s saying a lot. Fabulous coverage for a powder foundation, even on it’s own!
Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Foundation ($8.29 // Target). When I don’t want glowy this is the liquid drugstore foundation I swear by. It’s medium to full coverage and feels amazing. Making me feel and look amazing!
MAC Pro Longwear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation($33.00 // Nordstrom). I wore this in the Summer time when I needed my face to remain in place for an extra long time. My skin is so oily it doesn’t stay on all day, but it held up really well, even in the 112 degree Las Vegas heat!
NARS All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation($48.00 // Sephora). This is a love/hate for people, but if you’re oily and apply with a beautyblender, it’ll be a love. Trust.
Milani Even-Touch Powder Foundation($8.99 // CVS). This is the closest drugstore equivalent I’ve found to the IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation. It doesn’t last quite as long but the coverage is good – basically it gets the job done well and the price is fabulous!
I’m also currently testing the new Hourglass Immaculate Liquid Powder Foundation Mattifying Oil Free($55.00 // Sephora). So far I’ve only applied it one time and with a beautyblender. It was incredibly sheer and I needed to layer it on 5 times (!!!!!) to get the coverage I wanted. I’m going to continue to test it out this week to see what the best application method is. It seems to keep my oil at a minimum, which I like, so I want to give it several run-throughs before making my final review!
What is your favorite foundation? Let me know in the comments and also share what kind of skin you have, just in case someone with dry skin is on the hunt 😉 Click the icons below to see more blogger faves!
For this week on Makeup Wars we’re talking about the top 5 products under $10. Immediately I knew I wanted to feature Neutrogena! Why? Neutrogena is easily one of my favorite drugstore beauty brands. It’s personally not very easy for me to find drugstore products I love much less find a brand with fantastic products in every single category.
In no particular order:
Healthy Skin Blush($7.99 // ULTA Beauty). SO incredibly smooth with a lovely pigment and beautiful glow. Without hesitation I can tell you that you need every single color.
Healthy Volume Mascara ($7.99 // ULTA Beauty). This mascara gives a natural but lifted look that lasts all day. Perfect for day time and easy to layer for night!
Nourishing Eye Liner($8.99 // ULTA Beauty). I learned I loved this liner in Brushed Pewter (review) years ago. It was actually one of the first grey toned liners that I couldn’t be without. Because I loved it so much I ended up buying more shades (review)!!
Moisture Smooth Color Stick($8.99 // ULTA Beauty). There isn’t one shade of these that I don’t like. A brilliant choice if you’re looking for a lip crayon with shine and excellent color.
Long-Wear Eye Shadow + Built In Primer($9.99 // ULTA Beauty). Six shade choices are offered in quad form, so there’s something for every one. There’s a built-in primer to prevent creasing (though my lids are incredibly oily and I do require a secondary primer to help) but I noticed that the built-in helps to amp up the pigment when worn and swatched.
Bonus item! I also really love the Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Makeup ($12.99 // ULTA Beauty). This foundation is over $10, but worth picking up regardless because the quality is outstanding!
I’m wearing quite a few products of the above in this post from last year. It’ll give you a sense of how they look on, if you want to check it out 😉

On my last vacation I got the opportunity to take a hard look at things that I’ve been using lately from the drugstore. As I packed I realized this is the same stuff I always revert to when I need to buy something to replenish what I’ve used. The items photographed here were all received as press samples, however I’ve purchased them myself in the past – some for years.
Aveeno. Did you know Aveeno was the first skincare brand from the drugstore that didn’t make my skin freak out when I touched it? This goes all the way back to when beauty blogs weren’t even a thing and most people didn’t even review their drugstore product purchases online. Before I knew about any other products that would work for me (drugstore and beyond) Aveeno made it possible for me to use body wash and have a bubble bath. There isn’t one thing in their line that my skin can’t handle and I love ’em for it! Some of my faves are pictured below, but seriously buy all the things.
Neutrogena Naturals Makeup Removing Towelettes($6.99 // Target) are a step up from the regular Neutrogena Makeup Removing Towelettes I’ve use in the past. What I love about these is that they remove all of my makeup on light days and don’t leave behind any kind of residue. On heavy makeup days I begin with these before I use my cleanser.
Secret Clinical Strength Invisible Solid($7.99 // Target) is new to me this year. 9 times out of 10 I’ve bought a Secret Deodorant in the past but this particular one caught my eye because of the words “stress response”. I stress and would like a response in my pits, please. I’ve been loving this one over the Summer because I don’t end up with any underarm staining and it keeps odors in check.
Dove Beauty Bar ($5.19 for 4 // Target). Usually when I use a soap over a body wash I have to use Safeguard, which is an anti-bacterial soap, so my skin doesn’t get angry. Dove Beauty Bar is another one that I can reach for to feel extra moisturized while keeping my skin on the happy side.
London SOHO Products. I say products in general because I buy as many as possible when they hit Walgreens. I went especially ham on the Frozen display. Beauty and the Beast is another of my favorite Disney movies and they hit the mark when creating the line. I’m in love with this SOHO Disney Belle Wristlet (which my daughter promptly stole) and Belle Enchanted Eyes Brush Set($12.99 // Walgreens). Another good buy is the set of SOHO Disney Aurora Fairy Sponges ($12.99 // Walgreens). You get three of them and while they’re not quite as fabulous as the original beautyblender they do get the job done and the finished result is lovely.
Gillette Venus SwirlRazor ($9.99 // Target). Before I started to wax (recently) and still on the places that don’t get waxed my razor of choice is the Gillette Venus Swirl. It gets all the hairs without the cuts and irritation. One of the best I’ve come across in the drugstores.
göt2b guardian angel gloss finish ($4.29 // Target). On the never-ending hunt for a protectant for your hair to use before you flat iron? End it now because the guardian angel is a love. It keeps hair looking sleek, healthy and even helps with the frizz.
Band-Aid® Heal Blister Bandages ($3.69 // Target). In a moment of pure genius (those can be few and far between when you have kids – but that’s a story for another time) I brought the Band-Aids. A lot of Band-Aids. And not the ones that my son needed when he slid into second =\ These ones saved the moms from blisters while walking from field to field for these all day baseball tournaments we’ve had all month long.
What’s your must have non-makeup drugstore product?

Since I first tried the NEUTROGENA® Norwegian Formula Hand Cream($4.99 MSRP // Target) two years ago it has been a drugstore staple of mine. I love how thick the formula is, I’d call it more of an ointment than a cream, and you only need a small dab to coat both of your hands and cuticles.
Because this Winter has been, for lack of a better word, tragic in terms of how the weather has been on my skin I’ve been slathering this hand cream on nightly as well as during the day. When my hands are nourished it’s less likely I’ll pick at the nails and cuticles. I’m a reformed nail biter and when I see any type of snag or snarl it sets me off and I’ll pick all day long.
On the rare occasion where I have the time to go and get a manicure done I’m particularly diligent in applying the NEUTROGENA® Norwegian Formula Hand Cream because the picking will go from the cuticles to the nails. I will peel off any and all polish and completely ruin what I just paid to have done. Plus who wants ragged and ugly cuticles when their mani is so pretty? This hand cream repairs skin’s natural moisture barrier to keep hands, and especially cuticles, softer and smoother, longer.
(Essie First Timer Nail Polish from the Lilly Pulitzer for Target Collection)
When I use this hand cream consistently my mani may sport some minor chips, but still looks fresh because my hands look more maintained.
With no less than one billion eye makeup removers out there I think it goes without saying that some are much better than others. Right now I have two favorites – one from the drugstore and one that that is a bit more expensive.
philosophy Just Release Me™ Dual-Phase Oil-Free Makeup Remover ($19.00 // Sephora). Just Release Me removes 99% of my daily eye makeup even when it’s a liquid liner or product that would normally be harder to remove. I found out after purchasing that it’s formulated with natural aloe, and chamomile and cucumber extracts so it’s got all that goodness in it plus it doesn’t irritate my eyes or fog up my contacts.
Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover*($6.49 // Target). This is my fave liquid eye makeup remover from the drugstore. It’s gentle on my eyes and doesn’t irritate my contacts but it definitely removes most of my eye makeup easily and quickly.
Other makeup removers I’ve tried and loved:
MAC Gently Off Eye & Lip Makeup Remover($21.00 // Nordstrom). This was my tried and true for years. I only stopped using it when I ran out and ended up grabbing the philosophy when I didn’t have a choice. In the long run it did end up working out, since the philosophy is a bit cheaper and works a bit better.
Tarte Fresh Eyes Maracuja Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover Wipes($12.00 //Sephora). I still pull these out when I’m wearing a heavy amount of eye makeup, particularly if the look includes a strong liquid liner and/or lashes. It’s a necessary first step in the removal process. (see pics and review here).
Chanel DÉMAQUILLANT YEUX INTENSE Gentle Bi-Phase Eye Makeup Remover($34.00 // Nordstrom). This is so effective in removing my eye makeup quickly. I never wake up with any kind of mascara or liner remnants when I use this while taking off my makeup at night. But. SO pricey when it’s something I will use up quickly. When I buy my Chanel makeup they usually slick me up with a few samples of the eye makeup remover and I use them for travel or keep them in the shower since the smaller bottle takes up less space.
Lancome Bi-Facil Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover($29.00 // Nordstrom). Back when I first started using makeup (early teens!) this was what I used to take off my eye makeup. Even though I don’t buy the full sized bottle any more I always go out of my way to pick the samples when it’s GWP time!

It’s only Spring but the temperature change has been so drastic (I’m talking negative temperatures one week up to 80 the next) that it’s got me thinking about Summer. Why? Because that swift switch to hot made me sweat glow. New beauty products launch every year so here are a few old favorites that I love to use in the Summer as well as some new products I’m dying to try.
Sephora Collection The Art of Braid Hair Kit($18.00 // Sephora). I love a good braid. It’s perfect for keeping hair out of the eyes while you’re swimming and it’s a bit fancier than a pony tail for keeping your hair off of your neck. My daughter also loves a good braid, but not because she’s trying to be me. She’s trying to be Elsa. Regardless, this kit has all the things for the perfect braid and teaches you how to do it. It’s at the top of my list to buy this Summer!
Aveeno Active Naturals Positively Radiant Makeup Removing Wipes($6.47 // Walmart). Not all makeup removal wipes are created equal and I’ve found these ones from Aveeno to be one of the best for removing as much makeup as possible. Or sand dirt that inevitably will get all over you.
Pür Minerals Pout Pen($20.00 // Kohl’s). Hot lips are where it’s at and you’re going to want one that’ll stick around awhile. The Pout Pens are vibrant and leave a stain plus they have a balm on the other side to keep it comfortable and fresh.
Benefit Roller Lash Mascara($24.00 // Macy’s). While this mascara isn’t marked as “waterproof” it is deemed “water-resistant” and let me tell you. I wore this one day where I bawled my freaking eyes out. Hard. You know when all was said and done DH said to me “wow your makeup still looks really good”. I haven’t tried it in a pool, but I plan to this Summer. Never leave me, Benefit Roller Lash.
IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC Cream with SPF 50+($38.00 // ULTA Beauty). Not only does this have awesome coverage it doesn’t feel heavy at all and even if I “glow” a bit my skin still stays flawless all day. Bonus: SPF 50+ (though you do still need to wear your sunscreen underneath… better to be over-prepared!).
The Entire Sonia Kashuk Sahara Sunset Collection(Pricing Varies). Normally I wouldn’t mention a limited edition collection in a round-up such as this, but omg you guys… maybe my heart skipped two beats when I saw this line. All the things are major must-haves for me this Summer. If I could only pick two things it’d for sure be the Sahara Sunset Eye Shadow Palette – Desert Escape($19.99 // Target) and the Sonia Kashuk Sahara Sunset Highlighter – Arabian Dreams ($19.99 // Target). Please live in my life you beautiful collection.
Essie Turquoise & Caicos Nail Polish ($8.50 // Walgreens). This is a widespread Summer favorite nail polish – bright and fun… the Summer blue of ocean love!
If you’re shopping online you’ve got to use ShopAtHome.com! It’s a new online coupon and cash back site that I’ve been using and loving! It’s got thousands of retailers sharing savings and rewards. 60 million members can’t be wrong, right?

*This post is sponsored by Shop at Home. All recommendations & opinions are my own.
This topic is beyond broad, which is why I kept it strictly makeup and didn’t venture into any nail product, hair product, body care etc. There are also WELL more than 10 top makeup products in the drugstore right now. I picked the 10 below just off the top of my head and then realized after I took the pics I forgot one of my all-time favorite lip products – L’Oreal Paris Nude Ballet Colour Riche Extraordinaire Liquid Lipstick. So, while this list show’s some of my faves out of the drugstore, it’s not comprehensive and also not in any particular order.
(1) Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Makeup($13.99 // Target). This foundation is my absolute favorite liquid foundation from the drugstore. The formula, coverage, feel… every thing about it is perfect… except the glass bottle it comes in. It makes it difficult to get the product out to use, however if changing the bottle means that the formula would apply differently for whatever reason… I’ll suck it up and keep the glass. Because it’s that good. See it here.
(2) Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick($7.99 // Target). Not all lip color sticks are created equal and Neutrogena has some of the best. I’ve loved every single shade I’ve tried. The one pictured above is in Rich Raisin. See it here.
(3) Eddie Funkhouser Hyperreal Eye Color Palette($14.99 // Rite-Aid). These quads contain shadows with that perfect formula, with shades that all work well together and wear all day. The shade shown in the photo is Bedroom Eyes. See it here. Eddie Funkhouser is only available at some Rite-Aid stores. If yours isn’t one of them you can shop online here.
(4) Milani Total Lash Cover Mascara ($5.49 // CVS). This mascara will be in every single round-up for life, whether it’s drugstore or overall. It’s hands down the best mascara I’ve ever come across from $1.00 up to $50.00. Nothing else thickens, lengthens, curls and just makes my eyes look quite as wonderful. When I add more oomph and layer mascaras this one is ALWAYS the base. If you buy anything in life, this should be it. See it here. You can also purchase Milani at some Walgreens locations or online at milanicosmetics.com.
(5) Milani Rose Powder Blush($7.99 // CVS). The shade shown in the photo is Romantic Rose and it’s a part of the Spring 2015 line-up. See it here. You can also purchase Milani at some Walgreens locations or online at milanicosmetics.com.
(6) PIXI Beauty Shea Butter Lip Balm ($8.00 // Target). Just Shea Butter Lip Balm all the things and call it a day. These apply with a lot of slip and feel so amazing. Lots of moisture in this tube, a yummy vanilla scent and gorgeous tints of color. The shade shown in the photo is Coral Crush. See it here and other shades here.
(7) Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Lip Balm($2.99 // Target). If you want to go neon on your mouth but aren’t quite there yet Maybelline Baby Lips Electro Lip Balm is the way to go. It boasts a very sheer pop of color, lots of moisture and a sugary scent. That price is pretty awesome, too! The shade shown in the photo is Pink Shock. See it here.
(8) Maybelline Color Tattoo 24hr Eyeshadow($5.29 // Target). Oh come on. You knew these were coming as much as you knew I’d put the Milani mascara in here 😉 I love the Color Tattoo’s because they can be worn as an eyeshadow base without the help of any other primer. My lids are super oily and these never crease on me. The shade shown in the photo is Sleek & Spice. See it here. That shade may not be around anymore, I’m not 100% on that. It’s just a taupe color which it what I’d gravitate towards. Chocolate Suede is pretty close.
(9) L’Oreal 24hr Infallible Eye Shadow($6.39 // Target). Like the Color Tattoos these hold my shadows in place all day without creasing, however with the Infallible the shades apply more metallic on me. When I want a metallic look, I absolutely reach for these products. The shade shown in the photo is Purple Priority. See it here.
(10) L’Oreal Silkissime Eyeliner($7.99 // Target). So far this is the only drugstore liner that lives in my waterline longer than an hour. It glides on smoothly and this particular shade is perfect for amping up any eye look. It’s a 2015 mission to buy all the shades available! My only beef is that there isn’t a chocolatey brown color. Morning and evening beauty rituals might seem boring to some, but to others (like me) both are extremely important to maintaining healthy skin and a youthful appearance for as long as humanly possible. My two skin care routines are similar, but each contain essential steps that are absolutely necessary.
In the morning my routine is pretty simple. I wash my face with my cleanser and then apply moisturizer. Because my daughter allows for zero uninterrupted sleep nights I’ve integrated the Neutrogena Rapid Dark Circle Repair Eye Cream into my routine – which I apply right after the moisturizer but before makeup. It’s in an easy to use twist-up tube that releases a bit of product that I dab on and tap lightly to blend in. After this I head to the vanity to apply makeup. Neutrogena has new Nourishing Long Wear Eye Shadow and built in primer in 6 color combinations that I’m loving for an easy, every day eye look. Below I’m wearing the Cocoa Mauve combo.
^omg what a difference makeup makes^
At the end of the day I begin by removing my eye makeup – either with a makeup wipe or a cotton ball saturated with eye makeup remover. Next, using a new makeup wipe, I remove the first layer of makeup. Lately for this I’ve been using the Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes. They smell amazing and are fantastic for removing even waterproof mascara without leaving a greasy residue.
I always wash my face with an acne fighting cleanser (Neutrogena has a new one called Rapid Clear Cleanser that I’m still on the hunt for) and then pat my skin dry with a towel. Next I use a cotton ball and sweep a toner all over my face and neck. After it dries I dab on my eye cream and then apply my evening moisturizer (which is a thicker cream than what I’d use for day) generously all over my face and neck.
