Zoya Urban Grunge Nail Polish Collection Swatches + Review // Fall 2016

Press Sample

The Zoya Urban Grunge Nail Polish Collection is the brands Fall 2016 launch, said to be full of “one coat creams and metallic holos”. The shades are completely stunning, particularly the holos… I’m such a sucker for that jewel toned sparkle! The cream polishes applied nicely but I found that only Mallory was a one-coater for me. The rest of the creams were perfect in two coats as were the holos, with the exception of Alicia which I used three coats for.

Mallory // “Prussian blue cream”
Alicia // “linear holo with a touch of gold”

August // “gray cream”
Finley // “deep royal purpe scattered holo”

Wyatt // “true racing green cream”
Merida // “lush evergreen scattered holo”

Courtney // “deep red beet root cream”
Ash // “vibrant cherry with a red and gold metallic shimmer”

Tara // “purple plum cream”
Britta // “berry metallic with a red and purple fuchsia flash”

Noah // “mid-range taupe evenly balanced between yellow and grey cream”
Troy // “liquid pewter with a foil finish and an edgy touch of black and gold”

My favorite nail polish shades from this collection are Alicia, Merida, Mallory, August and Ash. What are yours?

Zoya Nail Polish shades retail for $10.00 each and are available at top salons, spas and Zoya.com.

I knowwwwwww the OPI Disney Alice Through The Looking Glass Nail Polish Collection came out forever ago! BUT right now at ULTA Beauty the OPI Nail Polishes are Buy 2 Get 1 Free and I still saw these nail polishes as well as the mini set at two of my local ULTA Beauty stores, so I figured it’s worth putting them up. PLUS I love the Disney Alice movies so indulge me. 😉

All of the swatches below were done using OPI Nail Envy as a base and then the Milani Color Statement Top Coat.

Having a Big Head Day // Get ahead of the pack in this commanding, hot red.
1 coat

I’m Gown For Anything! // Have a ball in this adventurous, creamy lilac.
2 coats

Mad for Madness Sake // This fuchsia pink is crazy-hot on you.

and the Special Edition:

What Time Isn’t It? // It’s time for this matte black with slivers of silver.

OPI Spring & Summer Infinite Shine 2016 Nail Polish Swatches, Review + Application Tips

Press Sample/Affiliate Links

As the seasons change the OPI Infinite Shine Nail Polish line grows! In this post I’ll be sharing the shades of Spring and Summer 2016 and giving tips on how to apply and wear this formula (because it can be a little tricky).

Spring 2016

  1. Don’t Provoke the Plum! // A hot-blooded purple to stir things up.
  2. Half Past Nude // I have an appointment with this nude blush.
  3. In Familiar Terra-Tory // I’ve seen this rich coral… in my dreams.
  4. It’s Pink P.M. // The perfect time for pastel pink is anytime.
  5. Olive for Green // I pine for this deep evergreen.
  6. Reach for the Sky // This cool, airy blue is yours to achieve.
  7. Rose Against Time // Get set… this bright pink is ready to GO!
  8. Sunrise to Sunset // This glowing orange shines with golden light.

Summer 2016

  1. Can’t Stop Myself // Everything’s peachy when you give yourself the go ahead.
  2. Don’t Ever Stop // This sun-drenched salmon will keep you on your toes.
  3. Hurry Up & Wait // There’s no time like the present to let this luminous tan linger.
  4. No Stopping Zone // Give your undertones a workout in dusky rose that goes and goes.
  5. No Strings Attached // This elusive nude refuses to let anyone pin it down.
  6. Staying Neutral On This One // A whisper of pink so sweet, it makes choosing sides impossible.

Application tips: Make sure you’re starting out with clean, dry nails. For a base you should always be using the OPI Infinite Shine 1 (primer) and your top coat should be the OPI Infinite Shine 3 (gloss). Wait for the primer to fully dry (even if it feels dry, wait another 10 minutes) and be sure that your first coat of nail polish is on the thin side. Let that dry completely – I’m not even kidding when I say 15 minutes. Add your second coat which should be medium-thick and let that dry at least 15 minutes (again, not kidding). Apply a thick coat of the top coat and let that dry around 45 minutes to an hour. You may get some color transfer on the top coat brush but after you dip it back in the bottle it disappears and I have never had an issue with color transferring on the next nail. It’s a process, but if I do it this way the mani does last a week for me, and I’m pretty rough on my nails. It lasts even longer on my toes, which is even better because I hate doing pedicures!

OPI Infinite Shine shades retail for $12.50 each and are available at ULTA Beauty.

MAC Star Trek Collection Swatches + Review

Press Sample/Affiliate Links

How long have we been waiting for this collab? I feel like it was announced awhile ago… and you know how when you want something so badly it seems like it takes forever? Finally the day is approaching – the release of the MAC x Star Trek Collection.

This 25 piece collection features a ton of blingtastic eye, lip, nail and face products in sleek yet perfect packaging. You’ll recognize that the outer box packaging as well as the packaging for the products is the usual black matte, but with the Star Trek twist – a silver Starfleet Insignia. The interior of the box has a silver and black pattern celebrating the 50th anniversary of the franchise.

Lipstick($18.00 // Nordstrom). Four shades are released in The Enemy Within(neutral gold shimmer, frost), Where No Man Has Gone Before (pink with gold pearl, lustre), Kling-It-On(deep purple with fine pink glitter, frost) and LLAP(icy rose champagne, frost). The shade shown is LLAP and, in short, it’s stunning. I was worried that it wouldn’t be wearable but it’s so gorgeous when you put a sheer, light pink gloss over-top. Even a coral or berry shade would work. Basically anything. The frost finish combined with the gloss really makes my lips shine and appear a little bit more full.

Pressed Pigment Eye Shadow($23.00 // Nordstrom). Four shades are released in To Boldly Go(reddish copper pearl with sparkle, frost), Midnight (cobalt blue with pearl sparkle, frost), Bird of Prey(dark olive green pearl with sparkle, frost) and The NakedTime(taupe pearl with sparkle, frost).

Bird of Prey is shown here and the description is spot on, particularly when it’s used wet – which is how I recommend using this particular shade. I’m not sure how the others perform but when you use Bird of Prey wet you’ll get a beautiful olive pearl laced with gold (see Instagram photo). Press the color on with a firm brush (I like the MAC 239) while it’s wet to reduce any sort of fallout. These will be released in North America only.

The swatches below are done on bare skin (no primers):

Studio Nail Lacquer($14.00 // Nordstrom). Three shades are released in Skin of Evil(yellowish green with black chunks, frost), Holla-Deck (gold sparkle, frost) and Enterprise(silver chrome, frost). Holla-Deck is shown below as a beautiful frosted metallic gold. Completely opaque in two coats.

I tried my hand at a little bit of nail art… which is rare for me. The collection really had me inspired plus I had these Swarovski Crystals in my beauty room that I’ve been dying to try out. My son wasn’t impressed but I think I kinda like the end result 😉

Also released within this collection are 4 Lipglassin Pleasure Planet(muted gold shimmer), Khaaannnn!(berry with red reflect), Set to Stun(light silver with gold pearl) and Warp Speed Ahead(plum with blue and pink reflects); 1 Mascarain Haute & Naughty Too Black Lash(black); 1 Lashin Wink of an Eye; 2 Brushes in 184(Duo Fibre Fan Brush) and 246(Synthetic Fluffy Eye Brush); 3 Superslick Liquid Eye Liner in On the Hunt(true black), Nocturnal(bright silver pearl) and Pure Show(bright yellow gold pearl); 3 Trip The Light Fantastic Powder(North America Only) in Luna Luster(sheer wash of soft rose shimmer), Strange New Worlds(sheer wash of golden coral pearl) and Highly Illogical(sheer wash of golden plum with fine pearl).

I’ll be trying (fingers crossed) to get my hands on ALL of the Powders, Pure Show liner, To Boldly Go Pressed Pigment and Where No Man Has Gone Before Lipstick. Stay tuned and watch my Snapchat and Instagram accounts for more swatches and pics when I purchase more of the collection!

The MAC Star Trek Collection will be available online August 25th (check stores like Nordstrom and Macy’s) and in store on September 1. This collection is limited edition and note that you should sign up for MAC Select because sometimes members will get a chance to pre-shop collections!

Zoya Seashells & Sunsets Nail Polish Collection Swatches + Review // Summer 2016

Press Sample

Zoya Seashells & Sunsets marks a breathtaking Summer collection of cream nail polishes and new Pixiedust shades. The gorgeous colors make me think of sunsets over a shimmering ocean and seashells buried in beautiful rainbow sand… Summer nail perfection.

Sunsets is a collection of six new “one coat creams”. I found these to look okay in one coat, but there was visible nail line so I added a second coat for complete coverage on the swatches.

“a popsicle pink”

“a deep, fully saturated orange”

“a juicy watermelon red”

“a vibrant cornflower blue”

“a fun-filled purple”

“a softened jade green with a hint of blue to make it wearable for all skin tones”

Seashells is a collection of six new PixieDust shades. I did two coats of each shade (one thin and one thick – no top coat) to make the coverage more opaque.

“a sky blue, textured PixieDust with fine silver and gold glitter creating a dreamy effect”

“a full impact green, textured PixieDust with a thin vein of gold creating a fizzy lemon-lime effect”

“a beige gold, textured PixieDust with medium holographic hex glitter”

“a cherry red, textured PixieDust with red and fuchsia glitter to mimic the look of maraschino cherries dipped in sugar”

“a starry grey, textured PixieDust with a small holographic glitter interwoven with a darker gunmetal”

“a classic pink, textured PixieDust laced with a fine thread of gold and medium sized holographic hexes for an added layer of dimension”

In addition to the new nail polish colors, Zoya has included two matching lipstick shades in Candy (a classic bright pink cream) & Mellie (a red-pink cream). You can buy the lipsticks on the Zoya website where they retail for $12.00 each.

My favorite nail polish shades from this collection are Ness, Dory, Cam, Levi & Zooey. What are yours?

Zoya Nail Polish shades retail for $10.00 each and are available at top salons, spas and Zoya.com.

Beat the Heat // Summer Beauty Survival

*This post is sponsored by BabbleBoxx.com on behalf of Single Edition Media.

This is about the point during the Summer where I’m over it. Over the heat, over the bugs, over the sweat… In all fairness it hasn’t been that harsh of a Summer, but the last few weeks have been brutal and I’m ready to move on to Fall, which happens to be my favorite season. My plans of surviving the rest of Summer include many a beauty product so in this post I’ll be sharing a few of them with you, explaining why they’ll work and sharing a few deals!

Butter™ London Lost In Leisure Lacquer Set // NEW POLISHES! YES. New nail polishes in my collection, regardless if I need them or not, always make me happy. This limited edition set from Butter London contains four nail lacquers as well as a guide to get the “Lost in Leisure Nail Art Look”. The four shades included are Rock Candy, Marmalade Skies, Fit and Skive.

*Get 20% off your first purchase at butterlondon.com with code: BabbleBoxx2016!

Tempting by Sofia Vergara // This fragrance basically personifies sexy. It’s by Sofia Vergara, after all. When I first sprayed it I thought it was Summery candy sweet, but as it dried down a more sophisticated floral scent appeared. It’s the type of fragrance that’s perfect for Summer but can totally carry you into Fall. Pick the 1 oz. fragrance available exclusively at Perfumania online and in stores. The 3.4 oz. (as well as the 1 oz.) will hit major retailers nationwide in September.

LaCroix Cúrate Melón Pomelo // I probably got a little too excited when I saw this fanciness. Sure, everyone knows to drink water year round, but especially in the Summer where it’s way too easy to get dehydrated. When I want something a little more special, I like a bit of flavor – which is what makes the LaCroix Cúrate Melón Pomelo so perfect! It’s sparkling, 100% natural and my mom will be happy to hear a lot better to be drinking than my usual diet cola. 😉

Nad’s Exfoliating Body Wax Strips // Anyone that’s been around awhile knows that waxing is my preferred method of hair removal – particularly in the Summer. Nad’s I’ve heard of and used… but I had no idea that they now have Exfoliating Body Wax Strips! Using patented Xfol™ technology, these strips contain an exfoliator on the outside and wax on the inside to provide you with smooth, hair-free results. Since waxing I’ve learned how especially important exfoliating is – who wants in-growns?! No one, trust me. It’s awesome that you can use these easily at-home and DIY your hair removal.

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Mineral Water Gel Moisturizer// Maybe you think because it’s not cold out your skin isn’t getting as dehydrated, but it totally is. Dehydration is more than just tight skin, it can even be the cause of acne! The Vichy Aqualia Thermal Mineral Water Gel Moisturizer has a lightweight, oil-free formula that provides 48-hour hydration. Ingredients like mineralizing thermal water, hyaluronic acid, aquabioryl and y-carrageenans make this the perfect moisturizer for morning and night. I love a gel moisturizer in the Summer because it feels cool to the skin when you apply – which we all need a little bit of in these hot months.

Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss Swatches + Review // Spring 2016

Press Sample/Affiliate Links

One of my favorite products from Dior has been re-formulated… and they didn’t even ASK me *cries* just kidding…. but really…. 😉 It doesn’t matter how old I am I still shy away from changes. Personally, I LOVED the old formula. When I heard the Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss ($30.00 // Nordstrom) was being “re-imagined” my initial reaction was basic horror. “No! Why! It’s SO GOOD!” Luckily, this is one of those instances where the product remains just as amazing as it’s always been. Keep reading to see the new-ness!

What’s this new formula about? The Dior Addict Ultra-Gloss is said to “deliver incredible shine and color in a brand new ultra hydrating and plumping formula.” In this new formula you can definitely feel the plumping a bit. It’s not “lip venom” level but it’s slight to where you know somethings going on. The incredible sparkle just adds to the plumping effect and doesn’t look glittery or feel overly gritty/uncomfortable to wear (though as the gloss wears away you will feel it a bit).

The gloss doesn’t feel too thick or heavy while you’re wearing it and I don’t notice any scent. The applicator is a brush, which I usually don’t like… but in this instance it’s not too long or too short. It’s the perfect length to apply the product to my lips without making a mess of myself.

These have a sheer base but the darker ones have a nice tint to them. Each will pair up well with a plethora of lipstick shades and work nicely layered together for a fun new color. Wear time is that of a normal gloss… 2 hours or so unless I eat or drink and then it’s definitely in need of a re-application session.

18 new shades have been released this month and are inspired by the three high-shine effects, intricate embroideries and couture materials of Dior runway designs: Sparkling, Watery, and Iridescent.

The ultra-concentrated sparkly shades adorn lips with saturated pearls that reflect light, while the easy-to-wear watery shades dress lips in clean, saturated colors. Finally, the iridescent shades are infused with contrasting or tone-on-tone pearls to give color new dimension.

Of the 18 shades I was sent five to test out in 169 Gems, 553 Princess, 465 Shock, 643 Everdior and 996 Diorosphere. All of them are part of the Iridescent line.

To go along with the latest in Ultra-Gloss Dior also released three new limited edition shades of the Dior Vernis Gel Shine & Long Wear Nail Lacquer ($27.00 // Nordstrom) and Dior Addict Lipstick($35.00 // Nordstrom), each in the 3 It-Shades.

The new Dior Addict Lipsticks feature a hydra-gel core with a top coat effect for sensational mirror shine. They apply smoothly with just enough of a pigment for a sweet day look, even at the beach. I love how moisturizing and wearable these lipsticks are – perfect for lazy/easy days or sultry nights where you’re not looking to fuss with a bold color.

Below I’ve got swatches two of the Dior Addict Lipsticks in 465 Cruise and 656 Cosmic.

There are two of the Dior Vernis Gel Shine & Long Wear Nail Lacquer and I have one of them in 676 Cruise.

Cruise can be best described as gorgeous, but I’ll do you one better and tell you why. It’s medium pink base is perfect for Spring and Summer but there is an incredible amount of fine iridescent and copper shimmers in there along with small FLAKIES of the same color. I truly have nothing like it and it’s a winner. Below I’m wearing two coats along with a base and top coat.

How do you feel when brands re-formulate products? What shades are your favorite from the new Dior line of Ultra-Gloss?? Let me know in the comments!

Dior is available at Nordstrom, Sephora, Neiman Marcus and dior.com.
