Stocking Stuffer Ideas for a Beauty Lover

Press Sample/Affiliate Links

Beauty lovers are the easiest to shop for. It’s almost as though the options are limitless! This week, for Makeup Wars, we’re giving some recommendations on stocking stuffers. Below you’ll find Stocking Stuffer Ideas for a Beauty Lover – and there’s sure to be something that you know they’ll love 😉

Holiday Lips:

COVERGIRL Outlast Longwear Lipstick* (find it at ULTA Beauty). The shade shown below is called Sofia in Love and was made for Sofia Vergara to wear on her wedding day to Joe Manganiello! That basically means it’s the perfect red – there are many other reds to choose from so be sure to check out Red Siren, Red Revenge or Red Rogue!

Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick (find it at Macy’s). You’ve heard the hype and it’s real. It’s the lip color that won’t quit so it’s the perfect gift! I’m wearing Heathers in this photo and I was SO impressed with how well it lasted through a Christmas party full of eats and drinks.

NYX Liquid Suede Cream Lipstick (find it at ULTA Beauty). If you’re looking to save money these are the next best thing to the Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipsticks. The color selection is decent and you have a lot more neutral options than with ABH. I’d recommend buying them online, though… my stores are always sold out of the best colors!!

LUSH Santa Baby (find it at LUSH). My fave lip tint is now in a tube! Seasonally appropriate and it smells, tastes and looks amazing. Buy buy buy!

Hooked on Hair:

Redken* (find it at ULTA Beauty). Three products I’ve been using and loving from Redken are the Pillow Proof Blow Dry Two Day Extender, Express Primer and Diamond Oil. It’s been a whole other level of hair care for me. The oil is the only one I’ve tried that doesn’t seem to travel up my strands and into the crown of my head making it even more oily. It stays where you put it and to me that’s a miracle. If the giftee enjoys hair care, they need this trio.

For the Brow Obsessed:

Salon Perfect* (find it at Walmart). Have they whined about how they want to try awesome brow gels and powders but they’re so expensive? Hook them up with the Salon Perfect ones at Walmart. Same thing, a third of the cost!

Always Doe-Eyed:

Salon Perfect Lashes* (find it at Walmart). If lashes are worn then you can never ever own enough. I know for my cousin if I handed her a stocking full of false lashes she’d love me forever. The Salon Perfect lashes are available at Walmart and look really good on.

Nudestix* (find it at Sephora). The Nudestix line is full of perfect multi-taskers. Travel-friendly and easy to use you’ll find items that work well on lips, eyes, cheeks and brows! So, if you’re not sure what they’d like this line will cover every single base with minimal product purchasing.

Gaga for Gadgets:

Real Techniques* (find it at ULTA Beauty). If they’re into brushes you need to get them some of the Bold Metals line from Real Techniques. They’re so pretty and the metal handles make them seasonally perfect.

Salon Perfect* (find it at Walmart). Affordable beauty gadgets abound! Who else not only has lashes and brow products but also a handy tool for helping you apply those lashes?! Get on it.

Because They Love Skin Care:

AVEENO* (find it at Target). There is some skin sensitivity up in this house and we are good with Aveeno. If the person you’re stuffing a stocking for is picky about what they can put on their body this line is an excellent choice. There are wonderful items available for the body and also the face.

Murad* (find it at ULTA Beauty). I put a lot of Murad on my face and have recently become very obsessed with the benefits of Vitamin C. They have a lot of products to suit any skin issues (or non-issues) but if your recipient hasn’t checked out the “C” line you must introduce them!

Lather* (find it at If you follow me on Instagram you’ve seen this one already – but it smells so good it’s landing here too so no one misses out! Lather has 4 options of stocking stuffers that smell amazing. It’s a candle/soap duo that you can get in Lavender, Lemongrass, Vanilla and Cranberry Orange.

Manicure Addicted:

OPI* (find it at ULTA Beauty). OPI has released some gorgeous nail polish sets lately full of fun ways to jazz up core colors. You can also currently find their new Starlight collection in stores now!

Sally Hansen Nail Art Pens (find it at Target). I’m not the greatest at nail art but I love to use these pens when I want to doodle a bit on my nails. If your person loves nail art these will be an excellent way for them to customize their looks.

Sinful Colors Nail Polish* (find it at Walgreens). For budget friendly nail polish options Sinful Polish gives you a ton of colors, both neutral and loud. Because they’re so reasonably priced it’s an easy add on to a gift or even easier to fill up an entire stocking with!

Pretty Perfect Nail Polish* (find it at I talked about this brand last year – you can pick a polish and put ANY name you want on it. Everyone likes to see their name on things 😉 Ask someone to marry you with one… there are endless options!

If You’re On a Budget:

ELF* (find it at Target). I originally posted these items on my Instagram but they’re perfect for this post as well because they’re the best at being budget friendly! Basically anything you choose will work so pick what works best for the recipient. There are also some amazing holiday kits out!

Hard Candy* (find it at Walmart). If your recipient loves to bring the fun and flash then Hard Candy is the budget friendly beauty pick for them! Beautiful picks are available for holiday including palettes, kits, lip gloss and even a Disco Lip Gloss ball!

PIXI Beauty* (find it at Target). PIXI has a fabulous collection of core items as well as holiday picks. You’ll find everything you need in this section from holiday sets to lip balms to liners to shadows… anything you can think of!

Pick from the list and mix it up or stock them up on their must-haves (if they love lashes they can never have enough)!

5 Things To Do for “Call in Well Day”

*I felt the magic of swiss herbs in Ricola® Herb & Throat drops as part of a sponsored post for Socialstars #swissherbs – All opinions remain honest and my own.

At least once in your life you’ve had to call in sick to work. You’ve likely legitimately been sick when making that call. But what about those days when you want to stay home and you’re not sick. Maybe you just need a mental health day full of silence and “vegging out”. Maybe you can’t handle the way Sheila chews her food in the morning meeting (name has been changed to protect the innocent *wink*). November 30 has been deemed “Call in Well Day”. The day where you can call in sick but stay home well.

Okay, so you’re on board with me and calling in well on the 30th. What are you supposed to do with all of this free time at home? Here’s what I’d do:

1 // Play in the tub. Not because you’re three, but because you want to relax and no one is home but you. You can actually lay in the hottest water tolerable, soak in the oils and bubbles… in peace. In the dark.. maybe with some candles… maybe read a magazine. Alone. Can you tell my kids constantly walk in on me in the bathroom?! Nowhere is your own during communal hours. Slap on some Reviva Labs Collagen-Fibre Eye Pads, mask up with Borghese Fango, exfoliate with some LUSH Ocean Salt…. basically take your well day and bask in it.

2 // Jam. Not the food. Music. Your music. Not one of your songs, then one of your SO’s… then 1,000 of your kids. Yours. Sing as loud as you want for as long as you want to anything you want.

3 // Now the food. Eat what you want and you don’t have to share. For me, I love to eat buttered noodles and peanut butter cups from the fridge. Because well day isn’t really about “eating well”. As you sink into your food coma pop in a Ricola® Dual Action Honey Lemon drop for stamina and to help keep you from actually getting sick so that your next “call in sick day” can be a “well day” also 😉 . A blend of 10 herbs called Chrüterchraft is naturally effective in soothing relief for your throat as well as other ailments that may be impending.

Ricola® is hitting the road to help America wake up their mouths with their Revitalizing drops! I love how these drops make my throat feel during allergy season and the colder months… find me that car! Check out the site and see if Ricola® will be stopping by a city near you! #wakeupyourmouth

4 // Catch up. It’s so stressful to be behind on anything. Even the DVR. Catch up on shows while you do something that you enjoy. Decorate your planner, do some adult coloring… find your happy place.

5 // Try a new nail color. Work safe bah humbug. Do a LUSH Hot Hand Mask, toss the nudes and neutrals and give yourself a mani pedi of something bold and bright… go as vampy as you want… bring on the glitter. Rhinestones. Add on your favorite hand cream and voila.

Notice how I didn’t say clean anything? Because, no. Not on your well day.

FYI I think it goes without saying to use extreme discretion when calling in well. You know your employer the best and it’s obviously not worth losing your job over… but if you can call in well… do that. We all need a little break sometimes!

Top 9 Luxury Beauty Buys

Press Sample/Affiliate Links

Probably even more annoying that shopping for your SO is shopping for the girl (or guy, for that matter) that has every.damn.thing. Maybe it’s a friend or relative… or someone you pulled during a Secret Santa moment at the office. Regardless… that ish is rough. Here are a few ideas on what to buy for this person whether you’re on a budget or if money is no expense – luxury does not mean designer it just means awesome!

  1. My number one gift for the person who has everything is a monthly subscription box. For a lot of these you can purchase just one month, three, six or even the whole year. Making this budget friendly for just about everyone. Depending on your budget you have options so I’ll list them in order from least expensive to most expensive – ipsy ($10/month – reviews), Birchbox ($10/month – reviews), Beauty Box 5* ($12/month – reviews), Scentbird* ($14.95/month – reviews), Glossybox* ($21/month – reviews), Wantable ($36/month – reviews), POPSUGAR Must Have* ($39.95/month – reviews). There are obviously MANY, MANY more, but these are the ones I currently subscribe to and have the experience with. I’m hoping to hop on a few new ones for 2015! Any recs?
  2. High end makeup storage. For those with a high or unlimited budget consider the Sherrieblossom ICEbOX*. This is a makeup/beauty organizer that is made with only the finest acrylics. You can absolutely see the difference, especially in person. It holds up well, cleans easily and comes in several sizes. Check out mine here!
  3. Personalized Jewelry. Onecklace* offers personalized jewelry that comes in a beautiful gold box complete with an authenticity certificate. Not only is there currently a Christmas Sale going on, BUT you can also get 10% off of your order using code GIFT10! Check out mine on Instagram (or purchase your own here)!
  4. Personalized Nail Polish. It does exist. Pretty Please Nail Polish allows you to pick a shade and give it any name you desire! It’s only $12 a bottle but wouldn’t it be fun to call it Will You Marry Me or something to that effect? Ahhh… a bloggers beauty dream proposal 😉
  5. Candles. I’m not talking Yankee. I’m talking high-quality soy, organic goodness from right here in Pittsburgh (but you can order from anywhere in the US!). KTHOM Beauty offers seasonal and spa collections for only $18.00. Flat Rate shipping is only $2.00 which for a heavy candle is AMAZING.
  6. Specialty Bath & Body. It’s easy to walk into a Bath & Body works and grab something, but I’ve talked to many people that say that getting body care from there is very impersonal and makes them think that you forgot and needed something quick. If the person you’re buying for is into bath and body products consider A Girl’s Gotta Spa. Energizing Citrus Body Wash (8 oz. – $26), Energizing Citrus Body Lotion (8 oz. – $28), Energizing Citrus Salt Scrub (10 oz. – $35 only available on the website), Energizing Citrus 3-Piece Gift Set – $84 comes in a silver matte gift box tied with a guava colored ribbon so it is ready for gift giving. (only available on the website, $5 savings) All of the products have vegan ingredients, are 94-100% natural and certified cruelty free by Leaping Bunny. Best of all, they are incredibly hydrating and smell wonderful! (products are also available on Gloss48 and Amazon however if you purchase on the official website you get a 15% off code when you sign up for emails!).
  7. LUSH. Few things personally make me happier than a gift set from LUSH. There is one to suit every one in every single price range. You absolutely cannot go wrong. They’re Limited Edition so shop soon!
  8. Makeup Brushes. NO ONE has enough makeup brushes. IDC if you have a million, you need more. No one likes to wash them, so the more, the merrier. IT Cosmetics makes affordable sets of their 5 star brushes (shown in the main pic – Your Beautiful Basics* (3-piece Face & Eye Travel Brush Set $19.50) and Your Airbrush Masters* (6-piece Face & Eye Advanced Brush Set $65.00). You can get these sets plus a plethora of individual brushes at Ulta.
  9. Beauty Gifts that give back. Some brands partner with charities and devote a portion of product proceeds to a good cause. Laura Mercier Bonne Mine Palette($48), Lip Glacé in Peach Hope ($25) and Bracelet of Hope($35) all give 100% back to the Laura Mercier Ovarian Cancer Fund; Kiehl’s has released their 6th Annual Limited Edition Creme de Corps Holiday Collection where 100% of Kiehl’s net profits from this collection, up to $100,000, will benefit Feeding America.

Of course, in the end, it helps to know who you’re shopping for. Obviously, specialty lip balm isn’t going to be okay for someone who doesn’t like to put anything on their lips. In the age of the internet, it’s not hard to get to know who you’re shopping for. Go ahead and stalk a little on Facebook… I won’t tell.

Top 10 Hair Masks for Oily Hair + How to Use Them!

Press Sample/Affiliate Links

Yes, your hair is oily. YES, you can still use hair masks! My hair gets oily 12 hours after I wash it (barely lasting a day) but I still treat my locks to a deep conditioning treatment once a week. Just because my scalp gets slick quick, doesn’t mean it doesn’t need love too!

How to use a hair mask when you have an oily scalp: When wearing a mask I apply beginning at the roots working up to the mid-length area (like where a low ponytail would begin), because that is the area that requires the most attention. I comb that through using a wide toothed comb and then comb all the excess product through my root area and down. After that, I simply follow the instructions on the packaging. Maybe it’s a 2 minute mask, maybe it’s 20. When it’s time to wash it out I always begin washing out the product at the roots, working my way down to the bottom.

Here are a few of my faves!!

  1. Phyrra Pretty Little Elixir ($15.99, Future Derm). I love that I can coat my hair top to bottom with this and it’s not oily or wet looking even after I’ve dried it. Sometimes when I OD on a hair mask that happens. This is currently on sale for $15.99 (down from $39.99) so stock up now!
  2. Aviva Hair Rescue ($32.95 for 7.0 oz, Aviva Hair)*. This is a Keratin Renewal Masque that is safe for color treated hair. My favorite part about this is that you only have to leave it on for 3 minutes (but up to 10, if you wish) and it still makes my hair look, feel and smell amazing. Yes, the scent is to die for… fruity but not overly so. The price is a bit higher than you might care for, but do note that there is a 30 day money back guarantee, which personally always makes me feel better about trying something new and spending the cash.
  3. LUSH R & B Hair Treatment ($22.95 for 3.5 oz, LUSH). Control the frizz, control the flyaways. This mask is fantastic for when I need my hair to be extra silky smooth (let’s face it, that’s all of the time).
  4. LUSH Shine So Bright ($9.95 for 0.4 oz, LUSH). I don’t know if I can really count this as a mask, but I love to work this into my split ends so I don’t need to get my hair trimmed as much. It’s a hair treatment that we all need in our bathroom!
  5. Novex Brazilian Keratin ($14.99 for 35.3 oz, Sally Beauty Supply). I got this in my August Beauty Box 5 and I am able to get several uses out of one packet. This is another one that keeps my hair smooth and silky. Did I mention it’s also super affordable?
  6. Agadir Argan Oil Moisture Mask ($14,63 for 1 pack at Amazon). This mask is amazing at making your hair not only look good, but also stop breaking (which I had major issues with when I went crazy blonde last year).
  7. Living Proof Restore Mask Treatment ($42.00 for 8 oz, Sephora). When I first used this mask my hair was in dire need of help from the Summer heat. The frizz is real, you guys. I love the No Frizz line of products and this mask falls right in with that collection as an HG hair item!
  8. OGX Quenched Sea Mineral Moisture Surge Treatment ($7.99 for 6.7 fl. oz, Ulta). When I bought the Sea Mineral Shampoo and Conditioner I picked up this treatment as well. It really makes my hair soft and manageable. The conditioner is so good that this treatment works along the same lines, but I like to use this better because the packaging is more user friendly. The conditioner bottle makes it hard to get product out, this type of squeeze tube is much easier!
  9. Neutrogena Deep Recovery Hair Mask ($7.99 for 6 oz, Ulta). I love this for my ends because they just get so dehydrated and almost dead looking. This mask is an inexpensive way to put softness and life back into them.
  10. Marc Anthony Oil of Morocco Deep Hydrating Conditioning Treatment ($2.99 for 1 pack, Ulta). This mask contains Argan Oil AND Keratin AND Grape Seed Oil for a saturating hair treatment. It’s basically a hair cure-all. I can’t use it weekly, but once a month I like to coat my ends in this and let it sit.

LUSH Fall 2014 + some Old Favorites!

Press Sample/Affiliate Links

Walking into a LUSH store can be as overwhelming as it is beautiful. You’ll want all the things and at the same time you won’t know where to start. Luckily the employees are always fantastic and very helpful, ready to guide you exactly where you need to go. In this post I wanted to introduce you to a few of my favorites, a few of the new items for Fall and a few of the brands best sellers.

Granny Takes a Dip ($6.95). This bath bomb is colorful and smells amazing. It’s loaded up with lemon and ginger oils as well as black pepper to create a subtle scent and soft skin.

Parsley Porridge($6.95). I’ve said before Porridge has been my fave product from LUSH ever. I love how it smells and I love how my skin feels after using it. New to the line is Parsley Porridge so I had to try it! It doesn’t smell as fabulous as the original, but it by no means smells bad. It’s a soothing soap and perfect for every day use since it’s non-drying and contains fresh parsley, finely ground oatmeal, thyme, tea tree oil and aloe gel.

D’Fluff ($9.95). I am obsessed with this shaving cream. The featured ingredient is strawberries and it looks like pink marshmallows. It’s not going to lather like you may be used to, but I like that because it doesn’t gunk up my razor as much. My legs feel super smooth after and razor burn is a thing of the past. If your man can get past the color, I think he’d be into it too!

If snatching up the latest seaonsal items aren’t your thing then you need to check out the tried and true, best of the best that LUSH has to offer!

Ocean Salt ($21.95). This scrub can be used on the face and the body, but I love to use it to exfoliate my legs before shaving. It definitely makes a difference and keeps stubble away for an extra day (I’ll take what I can get!). Also, it’s vodka infused. So.. bonus.

Angels on Bare Skin($13.95). This cleanser has a kaolin clay base contains lavender oil to soothe and rose absolute to calm redness. It also contains finely ground almonds and lavender flowers to gently exfoliate. My skin can be very sensitive to daily exfoliation so this is just the treat I need after a long day. It looks a little dry and bland at first, but once you mix it up with some water it cleanses like no other!

Mask of Magnaminty ($12.95). This is a face and back mask contains china clay and fresh peppermint that is for deep cleansing. When I went into the LUSH store and asked for something to lessen the appearance of blackheads this is what they recommended. I’ve been using it once a week and I’ve noticed a major improvement. It also really helped to lessen those little bumps on my forehead.

Aqua Marina($12.95). This is used to calm sensitive skin and can be used as an all over body cleanser as well as for the face. I really thought this worked well at removing dirt and also making my skin glow. When using on your face make sure you remove any makeup first as this is more of a secondary cleanser. The smell isn’t going to be your favorite, but it does work!

Mint Julips($9.95). I love all of the LUSH lip scrubs but Mint Julips has been my favorite above all others since I started using them. It’s got a yummy peppermint flavor and a gentle exfoliation that gets the job done. Your lips are smooth and supple after.

R & B($22.95). This is the stuff you need to use to beat your frizz ball hair into submission. My scalp is oily but my ends are dry and this is the only hair product I’ve used that doesn’t make my hair look dirty on top. I really feel like my hair is healthier when I remember to use this at least once a week (sometimes twice if I have something going on – like an event).

What are your faves from LUSH?

Top 10 Pedicure Products for the Best Looking Summer Feet

Press Sample

Ahhhh… Summer. The time when men and women get to literally put their so-called “best foot forward”. Whether we want to or not, we get to see every one’s feets. I hate feets, you guys. I don’t care if you’re a foot model, feet are gross. Now that I’ve insulted you all (sorrynotsorry), here are my Top 10 Pedicure Products. AKA the must haves to make the appearance of your tootsies at least somewhat bearable to us all.

In no particular order:

1.Cleanse. Please clean your feets. Why would you go off on the pampering, softening and adorning if you have Fred Flinstone Feet (Google it). This Summer I’ve been using a soap from Swell Skin* containing Sea-buckthorn, aloe, astragalus and vitamin E. It says it’s for the face, but my feet need love too.

2.Oil. Argan or otherwise. It’s not just for hair. The serum I’ve been loving lately is also from Swell Skin* and it can be used on the face as well. The 100% Sea Buckthorn makes for top-notch healing even for pimples. Head to toe treatments = timesaver! (TIP: do your feets last or wash your hands… don’t go foot to face. Grosssss,)

3.Scrub. I’m ticklish as all get out (just ask the pedicurist that almost got a foot to the face). However I do love a good scrub, and LUSH Ocean Salt is my favorite for my feet and all over the rest of my body.

4. A good Foot Mask. I am loving this one by Iroha*. It’s cheaper than getting it done at a salon and in some cases cleaner! Anyway, the foot mask smells amazing, feels amazing and kicks butt at it’s job. They also have one for your hands and this yummy Chocolate face mask! At home pampering FTW!

5. A Glass Nail File. These last forever and they’re the best thing for your nails. Mine is from Cult Nails and I’ve had it at around 2 years (give or take? I picked it up right when they first came out)! Or maybe you need a nail clipper, because it’s that out of hand.

6.Lotion. Coat those bad boys in a cream from LUSH (I’m partial to Charity Pot because it is fantastic and also every single penny from the sale goes to fund and support grassroots charities all around the world.

7. Drugstores have awesome creams too. If the Charity Pot is a little too rich you for your blood you MUST get the Neutrogena Norweigian Formula Foot Cream. I fell heavy and hard for the Hand Cream, so I had a near panic attack rushing to the checkout line to buy the foot cream.

8. A bright, very distracting nail polish. There are no excuses for this one. This is the year of the neons and some really fantastic ones exist. Check out any of the Neons by OPI or the Color Club Poptastic Collection!

9. Baby Powder. That’s not a joke. It’ll help keep sweat and stink at bay. If you can’t stand to smell your own feet just know that it’s 10 times worse for an outsider. #themoreyouknow.

10. The cutest flip flops evah. Whether they’re Old Navy or Manolo get a comfy, flashy pair of flops. Everyone needs foot bling (not toe-rings, though. please…).

I just thought of feet that are okay. Baby feet. So cute!

What do you like to use to get your beat best feet Summer ready?

So You Forgot About Mom? LUSH to the Rescue!

Press Sample

A little late on Mother’s Day? That’s okay! LUSH still has Mother’s Day products available! I briefly spoke about a few of the items that they have available on the last Top 10 Tuesday, and now you can check out a few of my personal faves below!

Wonder Woohoo ($6.95) – first of all, who doesn’t want to bathe in something covered in gold glitter?! Second it smells amazing because it’s the same fragrance as the Gorilla Perfume in The Sun – which means it smells of Brazilian orange and sandalwood oil. Luminous, yummy skin? This momma wants that.

Inhale Exhale Bath Bomb ($5.35) One part inhale, one part exhale = 2 parts relax. Inhale is fruity and fizzy while Exhale is amber and sandalwood (like incense) with a slower fizz.

Rose Bubble Bar ($4.95) Mom likes the smell of the Amandopondo Bubble Bar? Then she will love this because it’s the same scent! This bubble bar is beautifully swirled with white and pink and a bit of glitter making your skin feel SO soft.

Secret Garden Bath Bomb ($5.45) is one of my faves every single year. It smells earthy, rosy and as it fizzes flower petals float throughout the tub.

The Mum Reusable Bubble Bar ($8.95) is another one I enjoy every year. It smells of lime, bergamot & juniper but isn’t overly fragrant. I get about five baths out of is. Well… my kids steal it, so I get at least one lol

Makeup Wars – My Beauty Diary

This week for Makeup Wars we decided to do a beauty diary. Basically a “my day in beauty”. I tried to be diligent in writing down what I was using all day, so hopefully I don’t forget anything! Here’s what happens to my face, bod & hair throughout the day (beauty wise!).

Good morning!
I wake up around 7-8am (God willing, sometimes insomnia visits and that becomes around 3am). After my son is out the door I hop in the shower and hit my mug with Murad Clarifying Cleanser and my Clarisonic. I also like to use a lip scrub from LUSH. Currently I’m still using Santa Baby from Christmas. Once or twice a week I exfoliate my face with Kate Somerville ExfoliKate. For the bod I’ve been using Dove Pistachio Cream with Magnolia Body Wash & Body Bar. When shaving happens I generally use Schick Hydro Silk and Skintimate Shave Gel. Hair gets the AMAZE-BALLS OGX Sea Mineral Moisture Shampoo & Conditioner. I haven’t even been using a hair mask once a week, because the OGX is that good.

Out of the bathroom I start by applying Kate Somerville Anti-Bac Acne Treatment Lotion all over my face. Then I apply a spray lotion all over my body – something like the Vaseline Spray & Go or St. Ives Fresh Hydration Spray. The hair gets a generous hit of Living Proof No Frizz Styling Cream (starting at the ends and putting very little at the crown) and Agadir Argan Oil at the ends. My fave perfume is Chanel Chance EDT but lately I’m also reaching for Chloe Roses de Chloe.

In the interest of saving time I’ll just go through my daily makeup routine when I’m not actually going anywhere but the store or to pick the kids up from school. Generally (unless something is being tested) I start with the eyes and apply Urban Decay Primer Potion. MAC Utterly Becoming Paint Pot is an excellent base for all things eye balls and on top of that I go easy with Urban Decay Naked Basics or Hourglass Suede Visionaire Eye Shadow Duo. Lately I’ve been getting at my brows with Vincent Longo Eyebrow Micro Pencil and NARS Oural Brow Gel. For a liner I reach for something neutral like Marc Jacobs Ro(Cocoa), Urban Decay Hustle or MUFE Aqua Eyes in 24L. Mascara is usually IT Cosmetics Tightline and/or Milani Total Lash Cover. Face Makeup is IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation, IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye/Hello Light Liquid Brightener and IT Cosmetics Full Coverage CC+ Cream. On the cheeks I’m using NARS Olympia for contouring and one of the six Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blushes. For my lips, when it’s just an easy day like this, it’s always some sort of sheer-semi sheer gloss like my current fave YSL Gloss Volupte in Golden (20).

Through the day…
During the day I usually just touch up as needed. Generally that just means a dusting of IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation on the nose and reapplying gloss. More often than not, though, I just end up slicking on Jack Black Lip Balm (of which I’m obsessed with).

Nighty Night!
The makeup removal process is quick for me. I remove my eye makeup with MAC Gently Off Eye & Lip Remover. My makeup is removed by using Murad Clarifying Cleanser & the Clarisonic. Lately I’ve been obsessively staring at wrinkles by my eyes, so I start out my skincare regime with Le Metier de Beaute Revive Eye Concentrate and then I smooth on StriVectin SD Advanced. Because that isn’t moisturizing enough for me in the evening I also use Kate Somerville Oil-Free Moisturizer. I can’t fall asleep with dry lips so I always dab on a bit of LUSH Honey Trap Lip Balm. I also check for stray eye brow hairs that managed to pop up and get at them with my Tweezerman Tweezers.

After all of that I settle down to watch a show and slather on some LUSH Lemony Flutter & pop on my gloves.

I seriously didn’t feel high maintenance about myself until I wrote this post. Tell me I’m not alone!

Top 10 Ways to Pamper Mom This Mother’s Day (even from miles away)!

Whether you’re a mom, have a mom, know a mom… maybe you’re married to a mom?! This post is set to give you what I consider to be the best of the best to pamper that special lady in your life on Mother’s Day. Even though women should be appreciated every day, all day… year round (mother or not) Mother’s Day is that special Hallmark holiday where you are reminded to show Mom just how much you care.

Regardless of your budget it’s definitely possible to celebrate your mom with these options:

  1. The most important thing Mom wants? She wants you to recognize this special day. Make a phone call, send a card (if possible give her a card in person!) – if you’re a dad reading this have the kids make her things. I loveeeeee when my kids make me things. Their creations are all over my house and I’ll keep them there forever to show their girlfriends/boyfriends/kids in the future!
  2. The Sherrieblossom ICEbOX. Yeah, I know it’s expensive. BUT, if you have the budget for it (or just want to spoil someone with a little luxury) any woman in your life wants this. The quality cannot be touched and this makeup organizer looks stunning on any counter-top or vanity. I personally would rather have a product that’ll last a long time then something junky that’ll crack, scratch or break within a year.
  3. LUSH has an entire line of Mother’s Day goodies to bestow upon your momma! Splurge on the ‘MUM’ set or go budget friendly with these smaller options.
  4. Monthly Subscription Services. There are so many out there that would be perfect for mom, some are only $10 a month! NatureBox, POPSUGAR Must Have, Wantable, Birchbox, ipsy, Beauty Box 5, Glossybox (hint, the MAY GLOSSYBOX is curated with Bergdorf Goodman AND in each box is a $25.00 Gift Card to Bergdorf Goodman! That makes this deal AMAZING!)… and so many more!
  5. Tatcha has a full, luxurious line of skin care. There is a Mother’s Day Gift Set available, but some of my faves are the Indigo Soothing Silk Hand Cream & Gold Camellia Moisturizing Lip Balm. I have my eye on the Ageless Revitalizing Eye Cream!
  6. Jewelry. All moms love the jewelry – whether it’s the macaroni necklace you made in 5th period art class or a bauble from Tiffany’s, momma is happy. Or you could sign her up for JewelMint to make her remember that you’re her favorite kid every single month.
  7. Pampering. Pamper this woman! Send her off for a mani/pedi/blowout and while she’s gone clean the house (or cook a meal). When she gets back from her relaxing day have a gift basket of awesome spa items ready for her to continue on through the night. L’Occitane has 8 gift sets ranging from $85-$25!
  8. Keepsakes. Hands in cement. I can’t tell you how obsessed I am with my kids itty bitty hand prints. They won’t be that little forever, so get the digits and tootsies plastered in cement or something that you can look at forever and smile. You can even have them made into a stepping stone for a garden or walk way. Kits can be found at Walmart, Michaels… many more places than you’d realize!
  9. Swag. Get mom a cute beach tote and fill it with items like lip balm, lotions (basically any SPF type beachy faves), sunglasses, magazines, floppy hat, towel… I’m partial to this tote by Tory Burch!
  10. IOU. This may be the most informative thing you’ll ever read. Your mom loves when you do stuff for her. Duh, clearly, since she’s always asking you to do stuff. BUT with IOU books you’re promising to do things like clean the kitchen, wash the car.. etc. Chores that mom hates doing and tires of having to yell about. I die for the day my kids hand me an IOU book.

How do you gift on Mother’s Day? Do you go all out sparing no expense or focus more on gifts from the heart?
