Guerlain Les Tendres Collection Swatches + Review // Spring 2015

The Spring 2015Guerlain Les Tendres Collection is the first time in awhile I’ve wanted to purchase from Guerlain. Not because I don’t love the brand but just because I wasn’t super excited about anything enough to buy their products over products from other brands like Chanel or Dior. I picked up a few items from this seasons collection mostly because I needed to get my hands on the Meteorites Perles de Blush and the other two just struck my fancy 😉

Meteorites Perles de Blush in Angelic Radiance($53.00 // Nordstrom). I’ve held off purchasing Guerlain Meteorites (aka Ballz) for my entire makeup life. I love the scent of their cheek products… and the ballz are pretty… but I’m a clumsy girl. And rolling things stand no chance. BUT. When the Meteorites Perles de Blush launched and appeared to give a gorgeous pink color as well as have that beautiful cherub packaging… I lost all sanity and bought it. The product is beautiful. The color is even more so. The packaging design make my heart flutter… but oh is it cheap feeling. HUGE downfall for me, because I love packaging and expected it to be on level with the other Meteorites. Also, you don’t get much product at all. And that powder puff is a PAIN in the rear to get out. It’s really just poorly designed and it’s a shame because the product itself is wonderful. For the price, though… all around not worth it. This product is limited edition.

Kiss Kiss Shaping Cream Lip Colour in 560 Rosy Silk($37.00 // Nordstrom). Rosy Silk is a semi-sheer warm pink and it’s everything. I love the formula because it’s smooth and moisturizing. While it’s probably going to be too sheer for those with pigmented lips I love the color because it’s wearable on the daily. Because of the finish you only get like 2 hours of wear, but it’s smooth and easy to reapply. This product is limited edition and appears to be sold out where I’ve looked online for it, so definitely call ahead to check in store.

Ecrin 4 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in 504 Les Precieux($65.00 // Nordstrom). Of the two palettes released Les Precieux is the one that caught my eye because of the olive shade and because it’s so wearable and classic looking. The bronzey shade is beautiful as well and the light pink and ivory make it angelic. Plus that design imprinted on the shadows is pretty 😉 you know how it goes. Anyway, the shades are smooth and buttery. Super easy to apply and they blend well, wear well. I heard some bad things about the formula on this one and I haven’t bought Guerlain in awhile, so I was definitely nervous that things had changed, but it was wonderful. A+ all around. This product is limited edition.

Below my picks from the Guerlain Spring 2015 Collection are swatched dry on bare skin:

In the look below I’m wearing Les Precieux on my eyes over UDPP. The bronze shade is all over the lid and through the crease, the light pink is in the inner corners and to blend out the crease, the ivory shade was used to highlight. I smudged the olive shade under the lower lash line. The eye liner is Marc Jacobs Ro(cocoa) Highliner-Gel Crayon and the mascara is Milani Total Lash Cover. Angelic Radiance is on my cheeks and Rosy Silk is on my lips.

If you’re interested in what I wear in terms of the other makeup it’s the products from IT Cosmetics mentioned here (but in the pic below I’m wearing the shade Light because the Medium in that post was much too dark for me). Brows are IT Cosmetics Your Brows But Better Brow Power Skinny Pencil and Anastasia Clear Brow Gel.

Guerlain 263 A LA PARISIENNE Nail Lacquer Swatches & Review – Spring 2014 Météorites Blossom Collection

You might remember when I showed you one of the nail polishes from the Spring 2014Guerlain Météorites Blossom Collection, a little limited edition beauty called Star Dust. While I was purchasing my favorite items from this particular Guerlain collection another nail polish also caught my eye… the vibrant A La Parisienne. I didn’t purchase that day because I thought I had something similar. But I couldn’t get it out of my head and a few days later I ended up placing an order.

What Nordstrom says about Guerlain Nail Lacquer:

Guerlain’s newest nail lacquers are indispensable allies for accomplished femininity. The ultra-vibrant shades incorporate adhesive resins to offer a perfectly even sheen that lasts for days. Using each shade’s extra-flat and widened brush, the easy-to-use formula imparts a shiny, daring and immaculate finish.

A La Parisienne is a pinked hue I like to call rock lobster red. The formula is fantastic – very easy to paint on and control. The shade is a little on the sheer side. I’m happy with two coats, but there is some visible nail line. In the swatch above I used three coats.

Guerlain A La Parisienne Nail Lacquer retails for $25.00 and is available at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s and Sephora.

Guerlain 862 STAR DUST Nail Lacquer Swatches & Review – Spring 2014 Météorites Blossom Collection

I’ve been so curious about Guerlain Nail Lacquer. I’ve heard amazing things but was hesitant to get involved with another pricey nail polish line. With the release of the Spring 2014 Météorites Blossom Collection I found I couldn’t pass up Star Dust (limited edition).

What Nordstrom says about Guerlain Star Dust Nail Lacquer:

Guerlain Star Dust nail lacquer adds another level to your manicure by coating them in long-lasting, diamond-shine color.

(Guerlain Star Dust Nail Lacquer – outside, no flash)

Star Dust has a very sheer pearl colored base but is loaded with white iridescent shimmer that flashes blue. This would provide a decent to good amount of coverage in three coats, four would be better but wouldn’t last. Personally I like this better as a layering polish.

In case you think I’m imagining it 😉 the very subtle blue shimmer of this polish (seen best in the blurred photo below)….

….and it’s so perfect for layering. I put it over Chanel Charivari (below).

I loved the tapered brush and the easy way this polish painted on. I definitely see more Guerlain polishes in my future!

Guerlain Star Dust Nail Lacquer retails for $25.00 and is available at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s and Sephora.

Guerlain 503 LES TENDRES Écrin 4 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Swatches, Review & EOTD – Spring 2014 Météorites Blossom Collection

There isn’t a whole lot that has thrilled me from Guerlain in the past couple of collections. I’ve picked up a few items here and there, but certainly wasn’t wowed. That all changed with the Spring 2014 Météorites Blossom Collection. My favorite part of this collection is the Les Tendres Écrin 4 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette, featured in this post.

What Nordstrom says about the Guerlain Écrin 4 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette:

The essence of color: one palette, four shades. Create, have fun and dare to wear color as an accessory. These palettes were specifically designed to be used together and can be mixed, matched and blended with no fear of mistakes. Application is extremely simple, intuitive, fun and risk-free! Choose your range: each palette offers iridescent, matte, satin and metallic shadows.

(swatched dry over no primer)

Les Tendres is a quartet of shades you may be used to seeing more-so in the Fall and Winter months rather than spring, but the demureness of the shades makes them a perfect look for spring. The pale iridescent pink and frosty mint green aren’t too saturated, making them easily wearable when used with caution. The satin taupe and cranberry shades are just pigmented enough to achieve the perfect wash of color over the eye lid.

All four shades were lovely and easy to work with. The mint shade is perhaps the least showy in terms of the color and also the most frosty. It was perfect for the inner corners of the eye. The swatch above shows the color much better than it would show up when used lightly on the eye.

Below I used the mint green shade at the inner corners & at the arch, the taupe on the lid, the cranberry in the crease and the pink shade to blend out the crease and to highlight. The liner is MAC Past Twilight Fluidline and the mascara is Too Faced Better Than Sex & Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant layered:

Guerlain Madame Rougit 4-Colours Blush Swatches & Review – Voilette de Madame

Affiliate Links

Guerlain always has the most beautiful and intricate cheek products, and the Madame Rougit 4-Colours Blush from the Fall 2013 Voilette de Madame Collection is no exception.

What Nordstrom says about Guerlain Madame Rougit Blush:

Guerlain introduces Madame Rougit, a quartet of luminous blushes that work together to illuminate your skin, giving you a radiant, velvet finish. The blush comes in a lacquered black box with magnetic closure tucked nicely into a faux-suede pouch with coral topstitching for on-the-go ease. 0.28 oz.

Shades include:
– Raspberry
– Pale pink
– Beige
– Coral

At first Madame Rougit appealed to my eyes, but what really made me fall in love was the natural pink, luminous glow it gives the face as well as the pleasent fragrance that reminds me of something from my childhood. I can’t put my finger on what, exactly…. but it makes me smile and relax every time I wear it.

It contains tones of corals and pinks, dotted with little pearls. The white on the dots is just an over-spray, so that will disappear the minute you use it. I don’t particularly like to use the included brush, but it’s nice to see it there in case you need to reapply during the day. The formula is easy to blend and supremely soft, making Madame Rougit irresistible.

You can layer to make this shade a bit deeper, below I wore it with two passes of my blush brush. It never seems to get overly dark, though. IMO that’s a good thing, but if you have a darker skin tone it may not be deep enough for you. For evening, I love to wear this amped up with a bronzer or contour shade.

The Guerlain Madame Rougit 4-Colours Blush retails for $67.00 and is available at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdales, Sephora and Saks Fifth Ave.

Guerlain PRALINE BLOP 401 Maxi Shine Gloss d’Enfer Lip Gloss Swatches & Review

Affiliate Links

Guerlain’s new gloss formula, Maxi Shine Gloss d’Enfer Lip Gloss, promises to deliver radiance, shimmer and volume (read: plump) to your lips.

20 shades are available (yes, they’re permanent) so I picked up Praline Blop, since it’s a shade I’ll wear frequently.

What Nordstrom says about Guerlain Maxi Shine Gloss d’Enfer Lip Gloss:

Maxi Shine Gloss d’Enfer guarantees lips a shimmering, radiant and plumping finish. Maxi Shine’s oil composition creates a moisturizing barrier to ensure an intense softness. Additionally, each shade presents varying degrees of coverage and pigment intensity. The perfect partner for a desirable, appealing smile, Maxi Shine offers tailor-made effects for beautifully enhanced lips.

Praline Blop is a sheer peachy nude. Certainly not the most pigmented, only offering a hint of color on the lips, but the shine is tremendous and does give my lips the appearance of being fuller.

The gloss lays comfortably on with no stick or tackiness. For such a sheer (though lovely) gloss the price tag is definitely high. Personally, I chose this shade because I knew I’d use it a lot and for the money I want to get my use.

Guerlain Maxi Shine Gloss d’Enfer Lip Gloss retails for $30.00 and is available at Nordstrom, Sephora, Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale’s and Saks Fifth Ave.

Guerlain Cils d’Enfer Maxi Lash Mascara Swatches & Review

So, this is just a mascara sample, but I’ve had a couple of people ask my opinion on this mascara and I wanted to get some photos and my initial opinion out there on the new Guerlain Cils d’Enfer Maxi Lash Mascara.

What Nordstrom says about Guerlain Cils d’Enfer Maxi Lash Mascara:

Introducing Cils d’Enfer – Maxi Lash, the mascara that creates just the right volume in the blink of an eye for a look that instantly captivates.

Featuring an innovative formula for maximum volume curl and hold, experience astonishing volume and staggering curl thanks to a high-performance polymer trio.
– First: Wraps the lashes in extremely adherent oils to thicken.
– Second: Made with supple waxes, it acts as a conditioner, softening the lashes so you can sculpt them into just the right shape and style.
– Third: Acts as a finishing touch to set the amazing curve.

  • 0.28 oz.

This mascara provides an excellent lift, lengthening and curl to the lashes, even after one coat. Be careful if you’re going to two or more coats, as it will start to clump a bit. I had no issues with migration while I tested this mascara.

While I wouldn’t call it my number one favorite, it is a lovely mascara and one to check out if you’re still in search of your HG.

Guerlain Cils d’Enfer Maxi Lash Mascara retails for $30.00 and is available at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus and Sephora.

Guerlain 502 COUP DE FOUDRE Écrin 4 Couleurs Swatches, Review and EOTD – Spring 2013

Tempting us for Spring 2013Guerlain has launched two limited edition vibrant and amazing Écrin 4 Couleurs eye shadow palettes – 501 Attrape-Coeur and today’s post of 502 Coup de Foudre.

Coup de Foudre is a quad of greens and a pop of apricot. You can use the shades separately for a lovely and refined look, or amp it up by using two or more to smoke out your eye.

I love how when you look at this palette you’d never imagine that the apricot shade would even mesh well with these greens. In fact, it’s actually just what this palette ordered! These shadows applied wonderfully and were easy to work with. I experienced no fall out with any of the shades, however the deepest khaki shade on the far right was a bit patchy to apply when used dry. This one would make an excellent liner when used wet.

In this EOTD I started off using UDPP as a base. First taking the apricot shade I applied it to just the middle of the lid and the frosty apple green shade at the inner part of the lid. The outer part of the lid was the deepest khaki shade on the right side of the palette and the golden khaki shade on the left of the palette was applied to the crease and blended up. The eye liner is Make Up For Ever 5L Aqua Eyes and the mascara is Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara.

For more information on this collection, please see the Official Press Release.

The Guerlain Écrin 4 Couleurs retails for $59.00 and is available at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Bloomingdales.

Guerlain 500 Les Ombres Turandot Écrin 4 Couleurs Eye Shadow Palette Swatches, Review & EOTD – Holiday 2012

In terms of color, the Guerlain 500 Les Ombres Turandot Écrin 4 Couleurs Eye Shadow Palette is quite different from it’s limited edition sister, LIU, but shines just as bright with beauty.

What the Neiman Marcus website has to say about Guerlain Les Ombres Turandot Écrin 4 Couleurs Eye Shadow Palette:

This precious quartet showcases a subtle monochrome palette for vibrant and refined eyes. The interplay of textures and colors effortlessly takes your look from morning to night.

Two matte and two iridescent textures are combined to perfection. Refined down to the slightest detail, the elegant golden case travels in a black suedette pouch with red topstitching.

The four shades can be worn all together (as shown in my eye look) or in different combinations. All of them have a great pigment and this has been one of my favorite Guerlain quads to use and blend. The shades are refined, vibrant and should compliment all eye looks, though this quad does lean warm.

On the eye, the two burgundy toned shades look extremely similar. You almost can’t see the difference between the crease color and the lid color. I have the golden shade at the inner corners and above the crease and the brown shade on the outer V. The eye liner is Chanel Brun Le Crayon Yeux and the mascara is MAC Plush Lash.

For more information on this collection, please see the Official Press Release.

The Guerlain Les Ombres Turandot Écrin 4 Couleurs Eye Shadow Palette retails for $59.00 and can be purchased at Neiman Marucs, Nordstrom or at your local Guerlain counter.
