Top 11 Blushes for Spring 2015

Press Sample/Affiliate Links

For this weeks Top 10 Tuesday blushes are the focus. Cheek flushing is important for spring. The right amount of shimmer gives that glowy (not sweaty) look when the sun hits your cheeks just right. The right cream will last all day, even though the April showers. Below are, IMO, the best of the best for this season and are still currently available for purchase as of this blog post! (Your eyes are not deceiving you. There are in fact 11 blushes in the line-up below. The fact that I got that close to 10 is a major win for me).

ColourPop Super Shock Cheek($8.00 // ColourPop). Of course I had to mention this first. The release of the ColorPop blushes broke the internet so hard that Kim Kardashian’s butt got jealous and fell off (not really but you get it). It was a challenge to not order every single one but the five that came home with me are swatched below – Holiday, Fox, Between the Sheets, Birthday Suit and Prenup. Not only are these blushes affordable but you won’t find any better in terms of pigment, blend-ability and wear. Tip: apply sparingly by dabbing on with fingers and blending out. Do the dab and blend repeat until you’re satisfied with the color.

Benefit Majorette($28.00 // Sephora). I’m going to go ahead and admit that I picked this one up because I was a majorette. And also I love the vintage packaging. Imagine my utter glee when this blush became a staple! I love to apply this lightly on my cheeks and layer Rockateur on top.

PUR Minerals Chateau Cheeks Cream Blush*($18.00 // ULTA). Super smooth and dewy, natural and glowy… isn’t this what we’re all looking for this Spring? Bonus: blends easier than anything ever and lasts all day! Any cream based mineral product that lasts on me is winner winner. The two shades shown below are Flirt and Coy.

Clinique Sculptionary Cheek Contouring Palette*($32.00 // Nordstrom). Uber soft and blendable you can swirl these together or wear the shades separately for contour, highlight and cheek color. Four palettes are available and I have three swatched below for you in 01 Defining Nectars, 03 Defining Roses and 04 Defining Nudes.

IT Cosmetics CC+ Radiance Ombre Blush($24.00 // IT Cosmetics). The shade is called Je Ne Sais Quoi and it’s a lovely three tone ombre ranging from dark-to-medium-to-light pink. It’s fantastic because you can apply with ease and even though the pigment is good it never seems to look over-done. See it here.

Milani Rose Powder Blush($7.99 // CVS). Forget the fact that the design is completely beautiful. These blushes (yes, every single one ever released) are incredibly pigmented and beautiful on the skin. I have four and I need more. See it here.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush($35.00 // Sephora). ALL of these were featured as my favorite blushes from Spring and Summer last year for Makeup Wars so how could I not talk about them here for Top 10 Tuesday? The Ambient Lighting Blushes give off a radiant glow, each with that perfect tint. If you’ve ever had a rough night and need your face to perk up any of these will do it. See it here.

Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Swish & Pop Blush($40.00 // Nordstrom). The only shade I have is in First Love and I’m truly DYING to get more. I always put this blush in as many round-ups as I can. I love how soft it is and how beautiful it looks on. This particular shade goes with everything so I reach for it constantly. They’re on the pricey side, but if you get the chance to splurge you absolutely need to do it on one of these. See it here.

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush($26.00 // Sephora). ALL of the Tarte Amazonian Clay Blushes are fantastic. Celebrated (shown) is the latest to launch with their Spring collection but I haven’t met one I didn’t like. No powder blush will last as long and still keep the same color like these ones do. See it here.

Gucci Sheer Blushing Powder($49.00 // Neiman Marcus). The name is so misleading because there is nothing sheer or nude about this particular shade – Nude Freesia. It’s a pigmented mauve-rose with a slight glow that appears when you blend it out. It ends up looking like a natural, all-day flush.

Urban Decay Naked Flushed($32.00 // Sephora). This is my 11th and had to mention honorable mention addition. The shade shown is Streak which is a warm trio of a matte bronzer, a shimmery peach highlighter and a bright coral blush. Awesome pigment and perfect for travel. I had to use this sparingly because I’m on the fair side and I feel like this is going to be a total go-to when tanning begins (PSA use SPF).

Gucci Amaretto Magnetic Color Shadow Duo Swatches, Review + EOTD

The Gucci Beauty line is an extensive one but I haven’t yet met a product I didn’t like! Today is my first post regarding any eye product from the brand and if the Amaretto Magnetic Color Shadow Duo is any indication of how amazing the quality is then this will not be my last purchase.

Like the previously reviewed nail polishes and lip products the packaging is black plastic with gold accents. The eye shadow duo comes tucked inside a velveteen pouch embossed with the Gucci logo with the same print on the shadows themselves.

Amaretto is a duo of icy peach and a reddened chocolate brown shadows. Super smooth and velvety… I’d call them pearly luxe. They appear like they’d be over the top frosty, but on the eye it’s a warm combo of perfection that you could wear day and night for any occasion. The pigment is fabulous and I had no issues with blending or fall-out. Over primer these shades lasted all day on the lid.

In the look below I primed the eyes with UDPP and simply applied the chocolate shade all over the lid and through the crease and the icy peach shade slightly above the crease and blended up. I also applied the icy peach shade to the inner corners and the chocolate shade under the lower lash line. The liner is Marc Jacobs Ro(cocoa) Highliner-Gel Crayon and the mascara is Milani Total Lash Cover.

Have you tried any of the Gucci Beauty eye shadows? Which ones are your faves?

Gucci Amaretto Magnetic Color Shadow Duo retails for $49.00 and can be purchased at Neiman Marcus and Gucci.

Gucci Cipria Lipstick, Burnt Cinnamon Lip Lacquer Swatches + Review

I’m slowly but surely working my way through the Gucci Beauty items I purchased from Neiman Marcus. Previously I shared the three nail polishes and today I’m excited to show you the two lip products I purchased – Cipria Luxurious Moisture-Rich Lipstick and Burnt Cinnamon Vibrant Demi-Glaze Lip Lacquer. Because this was a new line that I couldn’t play with before I purchased I stayed safe and went with nude colors.

The packaging is black plastic with gold accents. The gloss has the G’s embossed in the black case while the interior of the lipstick case has golden G’s.

Cipria is a pinky nude lustre shade that looks almost completely sheer on my lips. This would be a great base shade for a deep gloss or any shade that you want to make more wearable. The formula was hydrating but not too long-lasting. Perhaps a darker shade would stick around longer.

Burnt Cinnamon is more of a browned nude and while you do see shimmer in the tube it’s hardly noticeable on the lip. The formula wasn’t sticky and felt comfortable. This one also didn’t last too long, just a few hours, but I did like how it paired with Cipria.

When paired together Cipria and Burnt Cinnamon make a beautiful, nude lip. It’s definitely a basic nude lip that you can achieve with any brand, but something about those golden G’s on the lipstick tube just make me feel special.

Obviously, the formula is a love. I’ll definitely be picking up some more shades in the future… one’s that aren’t so safe! What Gucci beauty products are you looking to buy?

Gucci Burnt Cinnamon, Antique Ruby, Siam Red Nail Polish Swatches + Review

We’re getting to a point in time where we’re going to be hard-pressed to find a designer that hasn’t decided to dive into the world of color cosmetics. Gucci is the latest to hit the market at their boutiques and Neiman Marcus, launching an enormous line of products from eye shadow palettes, lipsticks, nail polish… you name it. I bought a little of everything (which wasn’t easy because when I ordered there were virtually NO swatches or reviews online) but today I’m featuring the nail polishes that I picked up.

From looking at the Neiman Marcus website 27 Bold High-Gloss Lacquers seem to be available. I purchased three shades in Burnt Cinnamon 070, Antique Ruby and Siam Red 200.

Burnt Cinnamon. This is a lovely tan rose shade that almost goes mauve-ish when it’s not in the light. There is a very subtle shimmer throughout that looks lightly iridescent because I just can’t place what the colors are exactly. Two coats.

Antique Ruby. This is my holiday baby. I’m not even kidding, I love it so much I may buy it a present. When I first painted it on it was streaky but when it dried down completely and added the top coat the streaks disappeared. With the burnt red very metallic finish I didn’t see that one coming. I’m in love, you guys. Two coats.

Siam Red.This has a beautiful, saturated black cherry base bursting with bright burgundy metallic shimmer. Two coats.

Overall I was impressed with the formula on all three lacquers because they applied smoothly and were all fully opaque in two coats. But can we just single out Antique Red.. a metallic like that with no streaks?! What?! Based off of this purchase I would absolutely buy more! What shade is your fave?

Gucci Bold High-Gloss Lacquer retail for $29.00 each and can be purchased at Neiman Marcus and Gucci.
