Ever since I was introduced to the DermOrganic Leave-In Spray Therapy($20.00 // ULTA Beauty) last year I’ve been a major fan, particularly when I want to add extra shine and get second day hair out of my curls. I even included it in my Top 10 Hair Products to Try post. Because of this I was totally game for trying out more products from the brand – particularly from the Argan Oil and Color Care lines.

Now that you already know why I love the DermOrganic Leave-In Spray Therapy I’ll tell you what other products I tried out and why I’m working them into my hair care routine. The DermOrganic Daily Conditioning Shampoo ($18.00 // ULTA Beauty) is actually made with skin cleansers! It’s safe for color treated hair (YAY) and really helps to keep my frizz at bay without weighing it down. A lot of times when a product has Argan Oil in it I can get weary of trying it but this even worked well for cleansing the crown of my head, which is always the most oily.

Once a week I use the DermOrganic Intensive Hair Repair Masque($18.00 // ULTA Beauty) from the middle of my hair to the ends. This helps with damage and keeps my hair looking and feeling healthy. This product is okay to use daily but I’d only recommend that if your hair is thick, wavy, curly or super long. Mine is none of those things lol!

One other product from this line that I’m loving for daily use is the DermOrganic Fast Dry Shaping Spray Plus Hold($18.00 // ULTA Beauty). It’s perfect when you’re just looking to spray something on quickly for all-day hold and it’s easy to brush through. PLUS it’s humidity resistant. All of these products are made with Argan Oil of Morocco and are sulfate-free.

So the major new love for me from DermOrganic is their Color Care line. I get my hair highlighted quite heavily and recently I’ve gotten some greys so while getting highlights I have to get a base color done. I usually opt for a “color safe” line but because of the extra time and money it takes to get my hair done I’m even more diligent about what I’m putting on my head. The DermOrganic Color Care Shampoo($18.00 // ULTA Beauty) and Conditioner($18.00 // ULTA Beauty) have been my favorites to reach for because I really feel like it’s making my color look fresh as well as keeping it soft. Plus this duo smells salon-level amazing.

The DermOrganic 8-Way Thermal Spray($18.00 // ULTA Beauty) provides heat protection up to 450 degrees and helps control my frizz and fly-aways. I also like that it guards against harmful things like chlorine and environmental factors.

I’m going to continue to use all three of these products daily and let you know how well my color maintained using them vs my other hair care (this will likely be done via Snapchat, so make sure you’re following me).

All of the DermOrganic products mentioned in this post are cruelty free and vegan.

Top 10 Hair Products to Try

Press Sample/Affiliate Links

I have been posting SO MUCH hair care lately that it’s only appropriate to do a Top 10 Hair Products post. Even as I sit here typing this I’m thinking of all of the products I forgot to include in this. There are easily enough for a Top 20 so I’m going to keep this post to my most recent discoveries of faves!

In no particular order:

  1. Redken. Lately this brand has really been on my radar, mostly thanks to my husband (see Favorite Hair Product for a Man below). First off, I’ve been using their Texturizing Sea Spray* ($ // ULTA Beauty) and Braid Aid* ($25.00 // ULTA Beauty) on my daughters hair. She has this very silky, fine hair that is impossible to deal with for styling. Braids, updos… nothing ends up working out or lasting because her strands slip out. I use the Sea Spray all over her hair and brush it through (not saturated, but misted) and then put some of the Braid Aid on my fingers as I work on her look. It’s been a Godsend!
I’ve also been playing around with their Frizz Dismiss line* ($8.50-$35.50 // ULTA Beauty) and have been loving how it’s keeping my frizz to a minimum this Summer My hair is manageable with this, and that, I like. This is sulfate & sodium chloride-free.
  2. DermOrganic. Leave-In Spray Therapy* ($20.00 // ULTA Beauty) has been fabulous for when my hair is curled and I want to run my hands through it to separate it up a bit. This product adds shine to my strands without weighing them down.
  3. Living Proof. If a Perfect Hair Day* ($26.00 // Sephora) is all you need then you’ve found it! I’m a huge fan of this brands No Frizz line ($15.00-$36.00 // Sephora) and Perfect Hair Day is just as fabulous to smooth into wet or damp hair to help keep your mane in check during the suffering of the weather. 😉 (Review).
  4. Peter Coppola. The Keratin Concept Legacy Collection* (Review) kept my hair in check during 118 degree Las Vegas heat. It doesn’t get more impressive than that. Purchase at
  5. Keune. The line is fabulous for helping my hair look less oily. It’s extremely impressive how well it does that as well as keeps frizz at bay. Find a salon here to purchase. (Review).
  6. Nora Ross. Garlic Shampoo & Conditioner* may seem intimidating, but there is no garlic smell and the benefits are insane. Very clarifying, very hair softening. Purchase on the website. (Review).
  7. Sebastian. Potion 9 ($18.95 // ULTA Beauty), y’all. I got this in a beauty sub box and haven’t let it go since. It’s a must-have styling product if you’re into flexible hold.. which I am. I also love their Shaper Plus Extra Hold Hairspray ($10.00 // ULTA Beauty) for times when I needs me some hold.
  8. Suave. Popping mousse in my hair is the best way to get my curls to hold all day long. My go-to for awhile now has been Suave Professionals Luxe Style Infusion Mousse* ($6.49 // Walgreens). Pop some of that in wet hair, brush through, blow dry… get to stylin’.
  9. Biotera. I did an entire post on awesome dry shampoos and Biotera Invisible Dry Shampoo* ($7.69 // Sally Beauty) is one of my top picks from that post. Great at absorbing that nasty oil and making you look like you actually washed your hair that day. No residue, no problems!
  10. CLEAR SCALP & HAIRâ„¢. The Intense Hydration Shampoo & Conditioner* ($4.99-$5.99 // Target) have been instrumental at fixing up the scalps and chlorine damaged hair of the women in this house. Affordable and a must-have for a Summer hair fix! (Review).

Favorite Hair Product for a Man: Redken For Men Firm Grasp Texturizing Clay ($19.00 // ULTA Beauty). My husband, he is a diva. He loves that this holds but doesn’t make his hair look overly-styled and crunchy.

Hair Products I Want to Try: Aveeno Pure Renewal Shampoo ($7.99 // ULTA Beauty). I read a ton of reviews on this line awhile ago but haven’t had the chance to try it! It’s on the list to get at ASAP!

Also this week I’m testing outmystery hair care! Any guesses as to what it is? I won’t even know myself until the end of the week!

Favorite New Item feat. the T3 Micro Twirl 360 Curling Iron // Makeup Wars

Press Sample

*** PRODUCT RECALL. See info at the bottom.

One of my favorite ways to wear my hair is with a bit of curl. All my life curling my hair has been worthless. The curl always got droopy and would completely disappear so that it just looked like I had one weird bump going on. In the past few years there have been a few items that have helped make the curl last longer, but not control frizz. In order to curl my hair I’d have to flat iron it first, which is that extra step I’m way too lazy to deal with. Since trying the T3 Micro Twirl 360 Curling Iron($230.00 // Sephora) I’ve been impressed with how quick and efficient it is in my styling routine – making it the perfect choice for this weeks Makeup Wars topic Favorite New Item.

The T3 Micro Twirl features a 1.25in, auto-rotating barrel and motion sensing technology with a single “Go” button that activates and twirls with just a small flick of the wrist. This device can actually sense the movement of your hand to automatically rotate in the desired direction. It heats up to 410 degrees, has two speeds and T3 tourmaline + ceramic technology. The description sounds intimidating, but it was incredibly easy to use. If anything I was personally more shocked by how well it worked, rather than being frustrated learning how to use it in my routine.

To achieve my no-frizz, chic curl look (1) I first blew my hair completely dry (before pic below). To (2) prep my hair for curls I’ve been using the Suave Luxe Style Infusion Souffle Mousse. I put a generous amount of that in my hair working it all the way through. Next (3) I blast my hair with the hair dryer again and use a paddle brush to smooth it out. (4) Using a clip I pull up all of my hair except the bottom layer. (5) With the T3 Mirco Twirl I curl that layer. (6) When completely finished I blast it with hairspray, which lately has been the Suave Luxe Style Infusion Anti-Humidity Hairspray. (7) Repeat this with as many layers of your hair as necessary. I have to do about 4-5 depending on how much curl I want. (8) When completely done curling I spritz some Dermorganic Leave-In Spray Therapy on my hands and work into my ends, which tend to be dry looking always. (9) Before washing the Spray Therapy off my hands I flip my head upside down and run my fingers quickly through the curls.

Below is the before and after using the T3 Twirl 360. Generally I like to do a medium sized curl and then shake it out. After about an hour everything relaxes to look like a gorgeous/effortless wave that actually stays that way. I love that this curling iron is easy to use and also smooths out my major frizz while it curls. It’s nice not to have to use the straightening iron before the curling iron, which is usually what I have to do. Cutting out that middle man saves a ton of time and allows me to curl my hair more often than I used to. It’s pricey, but it’s doing the work of two items for me and it’s a curl that lasts – making the cost well worth it.
