Chanel Troublante Le Vernis Dupe? + China Glaze The Great Outdoors Swatches + GIVEAWAY!

Press Sample/Affiliate Links

So much talk about the Chanel Troublante Le Vernis dupe! You know which one I mean… China Glaze Cabin Fever from the Fall 2015 The Great Outdoors Collection. Guess what, though. I don’t think it’s a dupe!

In this post I reviewed Chanel Troublante and showed some swatches. In the pic below I swatched (L-R) Revlon Untamed, China Glaze Cabin Fever and Chanel Troublante. The first coat of Troublante is thinner than Cabin Fever and the finished color is more copper/purple. The finished color of Cabin Fever leans more burgundy. Similar, but definitely not dupes. On my Instagram and Snapchat (@blushingnoir) I shared more pics where I used the camera flash making the the differences more apparent. I added in the Revlon because I felt like it was what would happen if Cabin Fever and Troublante had a glitter baby.

The China Glaze The Great Outdoors Collection was released in Fall 2015 and had some really pretty duochromes and glitter shades. It never hurts to share some swatches and at this point, maybe you can find a few on sale or on websites! (FYI S’more Fun is as of this post on the ULTA website for $2.08!)

Below check out more swatches of China Glaze Cabin Fever Nail Polish along with the rest of The Great Outdoors collection.

  2. Gone Glamping

Top 10 Luxury Beauty feat. Chanel Vamp Attitude // Holiday 2015

Affiliate Links

There are well more than 10 luxury beauty buys this holiday, but rather than focus on gifts I wanted to share one of my favorite collections from this year – Chanel Vamp Attitude.

My favorite shades to wear in the Fall and Winter are in the burgundy family, and while it’s well known that I love a good red this collection of “rouge noir” really spoke to me. Here are my Top 10 Luxury Beauty picks from Chanel Holiday!

Signe Particuliere Les 4 Ombres($65.00 // Nordstrom). This eye shadow palette has an icy lilac, gold, grey and (of course) a rouge noir shade. You wouldn’t think it works, but it does. I applied the burgundy all over my lid, put the icy lilac at the inner corner and the grey to blend out the crease. For the gold I patted it lightly over the rouge noir shade.

Rouge Noir Illusion d’Ombre($36.00 // Nordstrom). Layer this alone for a blackened burgundy eye that won’t quit or use it as a base for your purple toned shades. I’ve been particularly loving it with MAC Star Violet Eyeshadow!

Rouge Noir Le Crayon Kohl($29.00 // Nordstrom). The Chanel Kohls have always been one of my fave liners because they’re smooth but last. This one is almost black, but definitely has that rouge look to it. If you can’t find it Clinique Black Honey is similar!

Or Safran Le Crayon Yeux Precision Eye Definer($29.00 // Nordstrom). Smooth and perfect for the lower waterline, or how I like to use it, at the inner corners of the eye.

Rouge Noir Le Volume de Chanel Mascara($32.00 // Neiman Marcus). Le Volume de Chanel Mascara is one of my favorites. It’s very thickening and some find it clumpy, but I love the drama and lift it adds to my lashes. The Rouge Noir shade really makes an eye look stand out in an extra yet subtle way.

Coups De Minuit Joues Contraste($45.00 // Nordstrom). Who can resist a highlighting powder from Chanel?! NO ONE. Coups de Minuit gave a nice, pink glow… refreshing from all of the warm highlighters I’ve been using lately!

Vaporeuse Rouge Allure Lipstick($36.00 // Nordstrom). A subtle, sheer-ish candy pink. It makes the perfect base for Etincelle Glossimer and will be wearable into Spring and Summer!

Etincelle Glossimer($30.00 // Nordstrom). I actually had vampy girl hopes for this one. When it arrived and I saw it was more of a jelly with no serious shimmer I was a little upset. Until I saw how well it wore with Vaporeuse and basically every single other lip color I tried it with. Love it!

Rose Fusion Le Vernis($27.00 // Macy’s). The incredible beauty of this one in the bottle doesn’t hold a candle to how pretty it is on the nails! (swatches here)

Lame Rouge Noir Le Vernis Top Coat ($27.00 // Macy’s). It’s definitely prettier in the bottle, BUT if you don’t have a good, gold flake top coat it’s a good one to add into your collection. (swatches here)

Swatches of all of the products are below – swatched dry with no primers under:

…and in case you don’t follow me on Instagram – a FOTD:

Chanel Holiday 2015 Le Vernis Nail Polish Swatches

Affiliate Links

Holiday nail polishes get me every time. While I love the shades of Fall the nail polishes are usually of the vampy cream variety. For Holiday it’s amped up and becomes all types of metallic and shimmery and flaky… yet still somehow vampy. It’s basically the best of both worlds. Three new, limited edition nail polishes from Chanel have struck my fancy – Troublante Le Vernis($27.00 // Nordstrom) which was released with the Rouge Allure collection as well as two shades released with the Vamp Attitude holiday collection – Rose Fusion($27.00 // Nordstrom) and Le Top Coat Lame Rouge Noir($27.00 // Nordstrom) aka Gold Sparkle Nail Coat.

675 Troublante // two coats
It’s a gorgeous metallic burgundy copper duochome shift of hotness. If I could bottle the leaves changing colors it would be this shade. Limited Edition

^without flash^

^with flash^

757 Rose Fusion // two coats
A silvered, lilac metallic with a green shift. That’s what I’m getting from it. I didn’t love it until the light hit it… it’s pretty dull in the shade. Now, I’m smitten. Limited Edition

Lame Rouge Noir // one coat shown over Rose Fusion
This top coat has a clear base with quite a lot of different sized gold flake sparkle throughout. From promo pics I expected a bit of a tint in the base but there is none. The gold sinks so you have to really shake this up to get a good bit of gold, after that it’s easy to apply. It’s beautiful and I do love it, but if you have a gold flake top coat at home you don’t need it. Limited Edition

Lame Rouge Noir // one coat shown over Troublante
Limited Edition

Buying all three is definitely warranted if you don’t have a gold flake top coat (and even if you do join me in owning more LMAO), but if you do you’d be okay to splurge on only Troublante and Rose Fusion. Those are the two not to be missed. What are your favorite nail shades to wear for the holidays?

Chanel Vibrato Le Vernis Nail Polish Swatches + Review // Blue Rhythm de Chanel

Affiliate Links

Blue nail polish was never something that I “thought” I’d ever want or need. Over the years I’ve seen some beautiful ones.. usually involving glitters, holos or sparkle. I don’t know that I’ve ever been as enamored over a blue cream nail polish until Chanel Vibrato Le Vernis($27.00 // Nordstrom) landed at my doorstep.

You see… it’s not just any blue nail polish. It’s that bright royal blue shade that has been hot for awhile now – that I have yet to find the perfect handbag in… but I digress…. The formula isn’t temperamental in the slightest and glides on effortlessly. I think if you paint it on thickly enough one coat will do ya, but I prefer it to last more than a few days when I do a full mani so for this polish I did two coats. And no, it did not stain.

Chanel Vibrato 665 Le Vernis

Will you be picking up Chanel Vibrato? It’s limited edition so if you want it don’t wait!

Chanel Le Vernis retails for $27.00. As of this blog post Vibrato is still available at Nordstrom and chanel.com.

Top 10 Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Beauty Buys

Affiliate Links

There’s nothing easy about navigating and then narrowing your choices down for the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. This sale happens every year and if you’ve been around my blog for awhile you know it’s one of my favorite times to shop. I hit up the sale the first day of the preview (July 9) and picked up some items that I am in love with. As I shopped around in store I was surprised that there wasn’t a huge area of beauty items up for grabs… not as many as usual, anyway. I actually only bought ONE beauty item in store! When I came home I was excited to see several more available online so I bought a few more there as well (they are currently en route).

Here are my Top 10 beauty favorites from this years Nordstrom Anniversary Sale:

  1. Dior ‘Eye Reviver – Rosy’ Palette($62.00 // Nordstrom). This palette was the only item I picked up in store. At first glance this palette and the original Eye Reviver look exactly the same so initially I walked by it a few times until I asked “Where the Dior, son?!”. Because of the store lighting and tent I had to put the original and Rosy side by side. Only then did I notice how different they are. And how much I needed them both. The review and swatches are coming!
  2. Dior ‘Addict Lipstick’($33.00 // Nordstrom). I didn’t see these in store at all but I loved all 4 that came out with the Summer line so I bought both of these from the computer later. The two shades available are Cosmic Pink and Hypnotic Plum. The review and swatches will be up after they arrive, hopefully soon!!!
  3. Rebecca Minkoff ‘Erin – Retail Therapy #nordygirl’ Pouch($49.90 // Nordstrom). Every year the exclusive #nordygirl pouch has come out I’ve bought it. Last year “Chic Happens” and the year before “I came, I shopped, I conquered”. This year is a beautiful pale pink and the Retail Therapy theme couldn’t be more perfect.
  4. Charlotte Tilbury ‘On-the-Go Essentials’ Set($155.00 // Nordstrom). I always hear readers saying they want to check out this brand and the On-the-Go Essentials Set is a great place to start. I love the makeup bag it all comes in (especially the quote) and the products included are key pieces needed to start your collection. Once you begin to wear Charlotte Tilbury, there’s no looking back!
  5. MAC ‘Nordstrom’s Finest’ Eyeshadow Palette ($85.00 // Nordstrom). Technically this palette isn’t listed in the Anniversary Sale, but it’s a new palette from MAC that is exclusive to Nordstrom and first appeared during the time of the sale. So imma count it. A lot of perm shades are included in this but there are several new ones also. If you loved Nordstrom Naturals you’ll absolutely need this one also!
  6. NARS ‘Blame it on NARS’ Cheek Palette($59.00 // Nordstrom). I absolutely blame NARS for a good bit of my beauty obsessions! This palette features a Highlighting Blush in Satellite of Love (0.14 oz.), Blush in Day Dream (0.14 oz.), Blush in New Attitude (0.14 oz.) and Bronzing Powder in Casino (0.15 oz.) as well as a Travel-size Ita Kabuki Brush. All completely travel friendly! NARS also has two lip crayon sets that are drool worthy and worth checking out in Ultimate NARS and True NARS (I love the cases!).
  7. Chanel Travel Makeup Palette($95.00 // Nordstrom). This is a great kit for travel, it’s truly everything you need in one compact. The shades are wearable and perfect for any occasion. Like with Charlotte Tilbury, if you’re looking to try out some Chanel and need a place to start this is an excellent way to get your hands on several products at once.
  8. Yves Saint Laurent Glossy Stain Exclusive Trio($72.00 // Nordstrom). This YSL set was one of the first beauty items that caught my eye as being a great deal. These retail for $36 each so it’s buying 2 and getting 1 free plus you get a free cosmetic bag. I’ve had all positive experiences with the product and the shades are stunning. The only reason I didn’t pick it up is I already have one of the shades they included (review linked). Shades included: Glossy Stain Classic No. 7 in Corail Aquatique, Glossy Stain Pop Water No. 204 Onde Rose and Glossy Stain Plump Up No. 200.
  9. Tom Ford ‘Lips & Boys’ Set($96.00 // Nordstrom). The resolve is strong with this one. I didn’t buy it, but I’m dying for it. Tom Ford Lipsticks retail for $52.00 each so this is a sweet deal for shades that you’ll actually get some use out of. The trio comes in a case but I think if it were in a Tom Ford back I wouldn’t be able to hold out. Shades included are Flynn, Giacomo and Alejandro.
  10. Hourglass ‘Nude Essentials’ Set($64.00 // Nordstrom). One of my favorite items from Hourglass is the Femme Nude Lip Stylo and No. 5 is included in this set along with the 1.5mm Mechanical Gel Eyeliner in Obsidian, Film Noir Full Spectrum Mascara and a Travel-size Veil Mineral Primer. I didn’t buy this because I have the Lip Stylo and Eyeliner here already. But, again, it’s a pretty sweet deal for the set.

Chanel Arthur Rouge Coco Lipstick & Allegria Glossimer Swatches + Review // Summer 2015

Affiliate Links

Always a sucker for a pretty red, particularly when it’s a Chanel red, I had to pick up the two red lip products from Summer 2015 Collection MediterraneeChanel 440 Arthur Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Color ($34.00 // Nordstrom) and Chanel 457 Allegria Levres Scintillantes Glossimer($30.00 // Nordstrom).

Chanel 440 Arthur Rouge Coco Ultra Hydrating Lip Color ($34.00 // Nordstrom) is described as “luminous red” but when I wear it it’s got a pinkish orange hit to it. It’s not quite a coral-red, but lighter. Nicely pigmented and glossy while still wearing comfortably. This wore around 3-4 hours on me before I needed to reapply. Arthur is in the permanent line but is featured with Summer 2015.

Chanel 457 Allegria Levres Scintillantes Glossimer($30.00 // Nordstrom) is described as “rose” but I find it to be a true red cream. The formula was creamy and completely opaque when worn. It only lasted about 2 hours on me before I felt like it needed touched up. This product is limited edition and a must-have.

To see what these two look like layered and on the lips visit this post and scroll to the bottom.

The swatches below are done on bare skin (no primer):

Chanel Fresh Effect Stylo Eyeshadow Swatches, Review + FOTD // Summer 2015

Affiliate Links

Because of my obsession with the 2013 launch of the Chanel Stylo Eyeshadows (love shown here) I knew sight unseen that I had to own a few of the Chanel Fresh Effect Stylo Eyeshadow($34.00 // Nordstrom) shades from the Summer 2015 Collection Mediterranee. Five limited edition shades were released and I picked up three of them in Laurier Rose(rose gold), Olivine(olive green) and Caroube(chocolate bronze).

Like with the previous release the Stylo Eyeshadows are in rounded tube where the product is able to be twisted up or down. The formula is creamy, applies smoothly and easily and feels cool to the skin (almost like you’re applying a gel). I’ve found when applying this product it’s best to directly deposit the color to the lid right from the applicator and then smudge it out with your fingertip for a sheer wash of color which is buildable and can be worn alone or with a shadow on top. In my experience the Stylo Eyeshadows do not crease or fade at all, even without a secondary primer underneath such as Urban Decay Primer Potion. My lids are incredibly oily, so it’s always impressive to me when a product stays put without help.

The swatches below are done on bare skin (dry, no primer):

In the look below:(EYES) Using a fingerChanel Olivine Stylo Eyeshadow is smudged all over the lid and through the crease. Chanel Caroube Stylo Eyeshadow is smudged overtop the outer V area and lightly below the lower lash line. Next I placed a light dusting of Chanel Gri-Gri Ombre Essentielle Soft Touch Eyeshadow. Chanel Laurier Rose Style Eyeshadow was dabbed at the center of the lid and blended with a finger. The liner is PUR Minerals Madagascar Double Ego Dual Ended Eye Liner. The mascara is W3LL PEOPLE The Expressionist Bio Extreme Mascara and Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes layered. (BROWS)IT Cosmetics Your Brows But Better Brow Power Skinny Pencil and Anastasia Clear Brow Gel. (FACE)Make Up For Ever HD Foundation in 125 and Pro Finish Powder in 120, Pür Minerals 4-in-1 Pressed Mineral Makeup SPF 15 in Light, Pür Minerals Disappearing Ink Concealer in Light (both shown here), Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Bronze & Glow and Urban Decay Bang Afterglow Blush. (LIPS)Chanel Arthur Rouge Coco Lipstick under Chanel Allegria Glossimer.

What do you think of the Chanel Stylo Eyeshadow shades for Summer 2015? Are any wishlist worthy for you?

Chanel Collection Mediterranee Le Vernis Nail Colour Swatches + Review // Summer 2015

Affiliate Links

Even though I’m a huge fan of all things bright, bold and neon for Summer there is something surprisingly refreshing about the jewel tones of the Chanel Collection Mediterranee for Summer 2015.

Four shades were released within this collection earlier this month in Mediterranee, Coquelicot, Lavanda and Terrana (which is the only shade that is listed as limited edition on the Chanel website).

697 Terrana. A shimmering chocolate brown.

707 Mediterranee. An ocean blue cream.

717 Coquelicot. A luminous vermillion red cream.

727 Lavanda. An intense vivid violet cream.

The formula on all of the shades in this collection were wonderful. Smooth and even. Each shade required two coats for full opacity but if you go a little thicker on the creams you can get away with just one. What are your picks from the Chanel summer polish shades?

Chanel Mediterranee Le Vernis Nail Colour retails for $27.00 and is available now at Nordstrom, Macy’s, Neiman Marcus and chanel.com.

The Best Eye Makeup Remover // Makeup Wars

Press Sample/Affiliate Links

With no less than one billion eye makeup removers out there I think it goes without saying that some are much better than others. Right now I have two favorites – one from the drugstore and one that that is a bit more expensive.

philosophy Just Release Me™ Dual-Phase Oil-Free Makeup Remover ($19.00 // Sephora). Just Release Me removes 99% of my daily eye makeup even when it’s a liquid liner or product that would normally be harder to remove. I found out after purchasing that it’s formulated with natural aloe, and chamomile and cucumber extracts so it’s got all that goodness in it plus it doesn’t irritate my eyes or fog up my contacts.

Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover*($6.49 // Target). This is my fave liquid eye makeup remover from the drugstore. It’s gentle on my eyes and doesn’t irritate my contacts but it definitely removes most of my eye makeup easily and quickly.

****************************

Other makeup removers I’ve tried and loved:

MAC Gently Off Eye & Lip Makeup Remover($21.00 // Nordstrom). This was my tried and true for years. I only stopped using it when I ran out and ended up grabbing the philosophy when I didn’t have a choice. In the long run it did end up working out, since the philosophy is a bit cheaper and works a bit better.

Tarte Fresh Eyes Maracuja Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover Wipes($12.00 //Sephora). I still pull these out when I’m wearing a heavy amount of eye makeup, particularly if the look includes a strong liquid liner and/or lashes. It’s a necessary first step in the removal process. (see pics and review here).

Chanel DÉMAQUILLANT YEUX INTENSE Gentle Bi-Phase Eye Makeup Remover($34.00 // Nordstrom). This is so effective in removing my eye makeup quickly. I never wake up with any kind of mascara or liner remnants when I use this while taking off my makeup at night. But. SO pricey when it’s something I will use up quickly. When I buy my Chanel makeup they usually slick me up with a few samples of the eye makeup remover and I use them for travel or keep them in the shower since the smaller bottle takes up less space.

Lancome Bi-Facil Double-Action Eye Makeup Remover($29.00 // Nordstrom). Back when I first started using makeup (early teens!) this was what I used to take off my eye makeup. Even though I don’t buy the full sized bottle any more I always go out of my way to pick the samples when it’s GWP time!

Top 10 Luxury Highlight & Contour Beauty Products

Press Sample/Affiliate Links

Highlight and contouring are all the rage (thanks, Kim Kardashian) so for Top 10 Tuesday your fave beauty bloggers have come together to share some of our faves!

Chanel MÉDITERRANÉE LUMIERE D’ETE Illuminating Powder ($65.00 // Nordstrom). Lumiere d’Ete is limited edition but a brand new release so you can still get your hands on it! This subtle bronzer is more than just a pretty face – it packs the perfect shade for us pale gals to add up just a bit of color in a buildable way. It’s not intensely shimmery so it doesn’t accentuate pores, but I wouldn’t call it a matte either. It looks a lot more yellow sheered out on my arm than it did when I wore it, but it’s definitely more warm toned than cool. It was hard to dig into the product because I did not want to mess up that gorgeous rose design… but, and don’t boo me, it was worth it! Get your hands on this one fast!

* IT Cosmetics My Sculpted Face ($38.00 // ULTA Beauty). It’s all the colors you need to perfectly contour your face and a friends all at the same time. There are 6 shades within this palette so it’s also great to keep in a makeup kit because you’ll find something to work with any skin tone. There’s also an included face sculpting chart if you need a bit of help figuring out the best placement for the shades – there is obviously more than one face shape out there, but you’ll get the general idea and with a bit of practice be a pro in no time!

* Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour($21.00 // Sephora)Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight ($21.00 // Sephora). It seems there’s a Chubby Stick for anything now and as a 90’s girl that was always in lust with the original Chubby Sticks I’m totally okay with that. The latest duo are a highlight and a contour stick (sold separately) that make it easy to mark up your face while the silky cream formula makes it easy to blend out. I personally love the size of these ones because my face is round and I’ve got a lot more area to mark up than you slimmies out there 😉

NARS Contour Blush ($42.00 // Sephora). One of my favorite highlight/contour products from NARS is the Contour Blush (reviewed here). This matte duo is perfect for subtle, easy sculpting and is available in three shades. If you like a bit more shimmer the new Dual Intensity Blush in Craving($45.00 // Sephora) is a fabulous pick!

Tarte The Sculptor Contouring Face Slenderizer($24.00 // Sephora). For those that find the size of something like the Clinique Chubby Stick to be too big for their face a great pick would be The Sculptor from Tarte (reviewed here). It’s still bigger than the size of a crayon but there is less of an area of exposed product. If you have a slim/long face, you may find that this one is easier for you to manipulate to the spaces you need it.

ColourPopAphrodisiac Blush($8.00 // ColourPop). Okay… so this isn’t luxury but I saw it sitting there and I had to make room for it in this round-up. It’s that amazing. The pigment is crazy intense but the formula is so smooth it makes it easy to work with and blend out. This will last all day long!

Charlotte Tilbury ‘Filmstar Bronze & Glow’ Face Sculpt & Highlight ($68.00 // Nordstrom). In case you’re new I mention this one constantly and it’s the duo I reach for the most (reviewed here). I call it my no brainer contour and highlight. One hit application on both sides and I’m out the door. It never looks overdone and it’ll last all day. Plus… the packaging is REALLY pretty 😉

Benefit Dallas($28.00 // Sephora). Dallas is allllll the rage in terms of bronzing and has been for awhile. I was always intimidated by it because it looked so dark. Once I finally bit the bullet and gave it a try I could never go back. The shade is beautiful for a bronzer but I even like to wear it alone as a blush (reviewed here). For highlighting I love to use Benefit Watt’s Up($30.00 // Sephora) also. I get samples all of the time when I purchase things and the little size is great to get into the arch of the brow, cupids bow, etc. Note – the full size isn’t tiny for the areas I mentioned, but it does have a little spongey deal on the other side for easier application and blending.

BECCA Shadow & Light Bronze/ Contour Perfector™($40.00 // Sephora). When this duo was new in store I had to have it the moment I saw it. It just looked so pretty. The contrasting bronze shades give the perfect contour. I lean more towards the light side in the Winter season but when my face gets a little color I add in the darker side.

MAC Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish($32.00 // Nordstrom). Okay who doesn’t love Lightscapade (reviewed here)? It looks like it would be a shimmer-bomb but when I wear it on my face it never turns up like that. If you want to look fantastical and glowy at all times, Lightscapade is where it’s at.
