16 Holiday Makeup Must-Haves

Since August (!!!!!) Holiday makeup collections have been out in full force and they’re showing no signs of slowing down. Because I love to shop I thought it’d be fun to share with you a few beauty items I picked up and a few that are on my wishlist (based on reviews from websites and other bloggers). Note: these items are, for the most part, limited edition. Shop early!

In alphabetical order:

  1. Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance Eyeshadow Palette($42.00 // ULTA Beauty). I bought this when it first released and am obsessed with it. You know you’ve heard of it, you know you want it. I also need that Mario palette!
  2. beautyblender® + Too Faced Holiday Kit($40.00 // Sephora). I’m obsessed with this. It’s baby pink AND it has an awesome beautyblender AND one of my favorite TF highlighters AND a blotterazzi that I LOVE. Everyone just go ahead and buy me this for my bday. I’ll wait.
  3. BECCA Blushed With Light Palette($34.00 // Sephora). BECCA blushes are just so pretty and glowy… one of the few brands where I don’t mind my blushes to shimmer a bit because it’s not overkill and doesn’t accent pores.
  4. Benefit Cosmetics Sassy Lassie “Chick Picks” Beauty Bestsellers Kit($39.00 // Sephora). So many new products, so little time. This kit features 4 of the must-have products from the brand, all of which I love!
  5. Bobbi Brown New York Palette($65.00 // Nordstrom). Sure, the colors are something you might already own… but you guys know how I love packaging. Also how much I LOVE New York. There are also kits for Paris and London!
  6. Burberry Beauty Festive Set($115.00 // Nordstrom). Military Red Lipstick is one of my fave reds ever and it’s in this kit. That along with nail polish and a lot of glow make it a NEED.
  7. Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Muse Luxury Palette($52.00 // Nordstrom). Excellent shadow quality from this brand PLUS all the gold tones you need to do holiday in one palette.
  8. IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Essentials Your Superhero Eyes Must-Have Eye Set($28.00 // ULTA Beauty). Oh, that’s a mouthful… but Superhero MATTE shades that you can transform into non-matte shades? Great product performance and a fabulous price. Own you some IT.
  9. Jouer Powder Highlighter($24.00 // Nordstrom). Particularly in the shade Rose Quartz. Citrine seems to be the hot seller… but Rose Quartz is where it’s at.
  10. Kat Von D Everlasting Mini Liquid Lipstick Set($49.00 // Sephora). Though Lolita 2 is my fave (and not in this set) there are a ton of shades that I’d love to try and the color palette is one I gravitate towards. Except for maybe that purple… but I’d try it 😉
  11. LORAC Mega Pro Palette 3($59.00 // ULTA Beauty). LORAC has always had wonderful shadows and I love their palettes… but Mega Pro 3 is really speaking to me in all the ways.
  12. MAKE UP FOR EVER Artistic Lip Ink and Brush Set ($40.00 // Sephora). I love a good red and I love how different the product is. Definitely a good shade for the holidays!
  13. PÜR Cosmetics The Perfect Matte 5 Pc Velvet Matte Liquid Lipstick Collection w/ Lip Oil($34.00 // ULTA Beauty). Another long product name but you have no idea how long I’ve wanted to try this liquid lipstick. I work fo the brand and can’t get my hands on them! Insanely popular, must have.
  14. Sephora Favorites Trending: Beauty’s Most Coveted($75.00 // Sephora). Fave brands + fave products = gift set win. Give to yourself 😉
  15. Tarte Tartelette Treasures Eye Set ($59.00 // ULTA Beauty). Tartelette in Bloom and Tarteist Mascara are some of my favorite products. I haven’t tried the Double Take Eyeliner but at a $92.00 value for just $59.00 I’ll take my chances.
  16. Urban Decay Junkie Vice Lipstick Palette($35.00 // Sephora). The only lip palette I’ve ever LOVED. It’s a good deal and full of must-have cold weather shades.

What’s on your beauty wishlist?

BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Swatches, Review + FOTD

Affiliate Links

Around mid-May BECCA Cosmetics and Jaclyn Hill celebrated the incredible success of their Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector with the launch of even more products to add to the Champagne Pop family – a Liquid, a Poured Creme, an Eyeshadow Palette and the Champagne Collection Face Palette.

The Eyeshadow and Face palettes are limited edition while the three versions of Shimmering Skin Perfectors (pressed, poured and liquid) are permanent. Before we get into looking at the collection in it’s entirety I will say that the day of the surprise pre-launch 10,000 units of the Face Palette sold out in 30 minutes, and it was only announced by Jaclyn Hill on Snapchat (with word spreading fast). The day the collection launched on Sephora.com I was volunteering at my sons school and, while I was able to order all of the collection, I had actually missed a few things. As luck would have it Sephora pulled more to put on the site that day and I was in the right place at the right time.

Champagne Collection Face Palette($52.00 // Sephora). I reviewed and swatched this palette a few weeks ago (check here). But the pics are below for your convenience.

I have been having a blast mixing the shades together and layering. Everything is so blendable and pigmented. Amaretto has been a top pick of mine for dusting over-top of my regular bronzer which is giving it a nice glow for Summer-time.

Champagne Collection Eyeshadow Palette($40.00 // Sephora). The eyeshadow palette carries five shades in Chardonnay (white gold pearl), Champagne Toast (golden toasty almond pearl), Cordial (light dusty mauve matte), Cognac (mid-tone brown matte) and Bordeaux (raisin colored matte).

Champagne Toast is a Champagne Pop inspired shade for the eyes and it looks amazing alone or layered on top of the matte shades, as does Chardonnay. The top performers are Champagne Toast and Chardonnay but I was also very impressed with the three matte shades and found the palette as a whole to be very wearable for both day and night. Each shade was nicely pigmented and all applied and blended well on the lid. I wouldn’t call any of the five shades unique but if you’re a fan of BECCA shadows and Jaclyn Hill this will definitely be a palette you’ll want to pick up.

The swatches below are done dry on bare skin (no primer):

Now for the permanent items. Champagne Pop (no matter what the formula) is described as a soft white gold w/ pinky peach undertones.

Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed($38.00 // Sephora). I originally reviewed this in September 2015 (check here) and it’s been a staple ever since. I use it primarily to highlight but it’s also the perfect color to add a glowing pop to the inner corners of the eyes. This is the same shade as what’s in the Face Palette but my Champagne Pop single is softer than the formula of the one in the palette.

Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured Creme($38.00 // Sephora). The Poured Creme formula is my jam to use as a base for eye looks. I use the Rose Gold Poured Creme frequently in the Fall and Champagne Pop will be fabulous for Summer eye looks. My lids are oily so I use a secondary primer (usually Benefit Air Patrol) underneath the Poured Creme.

Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid($41.00 // Sephora). This is the first liquid Shimmering Skin Perfector that I’ve ever owned and no one is more shocked by that than I am. I remember my first time in ULTA Beauty while I was working with PUR Cosmetics… I saw the Rose Gold liquid and was rubbing it into my arm…. basically like a weirdo I couldn’t stop staring. The liquid is gorgeous to use as a base for the powder highlighter or to make your foundation glowy.

The swatches below are done dry on bare skin (no primers):

In the look below I’m wearing a bit of the liquid at the tops of my cheek bones with Champagne Pop dusted on top and I used Amaretto alone as a bronzer to show it off. Rose Spritz is the blush.

On my eyes I used Benefit Air Patrol and then placed a thin layer of Champagne Pop Poured Creme on top. From the Champagne Collection Eyeshadow Palette Cordial was used as a transition shade with Bordeaux is applied all over the eye lid area except the inner corners. Champagne Toast was patted at the center of the lid to make it pop a bit more and Chardonnay is at the inner corners of the eye. I used a bit of Champagne toast to blend out the crease and then some Chardonnay to highlight at the brow. The eye liners are MAC Black Walnut Modern Twist Kajal Liner and I used Anastasia Liquid Gold Metallic Luster Liner to line the lower waterline. The mascara is IT Cosmetics Superhero.

This collection will launch in stores on June 16, 2016 with items restocking online as well (though I’m not sure if those will be on the 16th, if you know plmk in the comments!). Jaclyn Hill has stated that once the limited edition items sell out this will be it. If you’re needing you the LE items, set your alarms. The last time they launched it the time was noon EST, but check with Sephora just in case.

Perfecting & Correcting with BECCA Cosmetics

Press Sample/Affiliate Links

The latest faves from BECCA Cosmetics aren’t all Jaclyn Hill! You can use the Backlight Targeted Colour Corrector($30.00 // Sephora) to correct and the Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation($44.00 // Sephora) on top to perfect! Facial trickery at it’s finest!

The Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation is available in 9 shades, Light (light with neutral undertones) is shown. This foundation provides a “radiant” finish and is said to be light, buildable and weightless.

Now, my skin is super oily, so I was worried that this foundation wouldn’t play well with what I have to work with. I got it to work for me by applying a mattifying primer (focusing on my oiliest areas) and applying the foundation immediately as it was completely absorbed into my skin. For me, application worked best when I put the product on with my fingers and then buffed it in with a brush.

Wear time was only an hour or so before I was showing signs of oil but the coverage stayed well and blotting papers fixed all. This foundation is definitely best for dry skin, but if you have oily skin and aren’t into a matte all day finish you’d also like this.

The Backlight Targeted Colour Correctors are available in four shades – Pistachio (neutralizes redness for fair to medium skintones with red undertones), Violet (neutralizes dullness for light tan/olive skintones with yellow undertones), Papaya (neutralizes deep blues and greens for tan to deep bronze skintones with blue undertones) and Peach (neutralizes dark spots and hyperpigmentation for beige to deep bronze skintones) – Papaya and Peach are shown below.

The two shades that I tried are really creamy, with a slick feel. They apply and blend in easily with the finger. Each time I’ve worn these products the color correction lasted all day.

I played with all of these a bit on Snapchat (mini tutorial like) when they arrived and found the perfect way to use both the Papaya and Peach correctors to conceal the darkness around my eyes. Now, a serious reddened tone like Papaya is best for darker skin tones, but I found that putting this at the inner most part of my eye socket (where it’s really dark for me) and then putting the peach all over the undereye area (where it’s not as dark) made the area look the most even once the foundation was on top. It’s a really quick and easy way to make the undereyes appear flawless.

BECCA Cosmetics products are available at Sephora, ULTA Beauty and beccacosmetics.com.

BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette Swatches + Review

Affiliate Links

A few nights ago Jaclyn Hill celebrated the release of her Champagne Collection with BECCA Cosmetics and surprised the heck out of all of those watching her Snapchat by announcing that Sephora would be putting up a limited amount of the BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette ($52.00 // Sephora) for sale on their app. You had to go onto the Sephora app, search the hashtag and the palette came up. I’m always late to the party so a few friends of mine alerted me of the release and I snapped it up ASAP. Can you believe it’s already HERE?!

The BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette is the ultimate set of five highlighters and blush that are said to work with and illuminate any and all skintones. Every single shade in this palette was created by Jaclyn Hill who designed them all so that they’d be able to be worn alone or layered together for a customized glow.

The packaging is “stunning, honey” (<—say that in your Jaclyn Hill voice) and it looks like a clutch you’d take to a cocktail party. The back and sides are a mirrored gold while the front is white with gold and silver confetti partying it’s way around the BECCA x Jaclyn Hill logo. Inside you’ll find a full mirror opposite the products. Though the casing is plastic it feels sturdy and has a nice heft to it.

You’ll get five products inside the case – Two Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne Pop and Prosecco Pop, Two Mineral Blushes in Amaretto and Pamplemousse as well as a Luminous Blush in Rose Spritz. Champagne Pop is a peachy champagne shade while Prosecco Pop is much more golden in tone. Amaretto is bronzed rose, Pamplemousse is a bright berry pink and Rose Spritz is pink with golden reflects.

I found all of the products to be extremely pigmented and of high quality. They’re really soft, fine to the touch and wear so beautifully. I really can’t tell you enough how beautiful each of the shades are. You absolutely need this in your collection.

(L-R: Rose Spritz, Amaretto, Pamplemousse, Champagne Pop, Prosecco Pop, Champagne & Prosecco blended)

The BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Collection Face Palette retails for $52.00 and will be available at Sephora beginning May 26 along with the other items in the collection – Champagne Collection Eyeshadow Palette, Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector Liquid and Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured Creme. The Face Palette and Eye Palette are limited edition.

Favorite Luxury Highlighters & Illuminators // Makeup Wars

Affiliate Links

Even if the trend of highlighting goes away I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to stop myself from doing it. I’m one that wants my face to look matte – except where I want it to be glowy. It’s all about that control! I’m oily, so if I just let the glow go naturally that shiz gets WAY out of hand. I love to mattify all the things and then give my cheeks and cupids bow a bit of illumination. This week for Makeup Wars we’re talking our favorite highlighters & illuminators. Of course, Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop came to mind but so did one other that I didn’t talk about on here (but I did mention and swatch on my Instagram).

My top two for highlighting and illuminating are:

Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector($38.00 // Sephora). OF COURSE I mention this first because I use it nearly every time I do my makeup. The only time I don’t pick this one up is if I’m testing something else or just not doing my makeup that day. I always go back to it! It used to be limited edition BUT Becca is so awesome (and smart because it definitely makes them the $$$) and brought it back permanently! The palette shown that contains Champagne Pop WAS Limited Edition but it’s pretty and I do love to mix Champagne Pop with Pearl (far left) for evening (see more on that palette here). Also, that trio makes one heck of a gorgeous eye look! Original review.

Tom Ford Moodlight Skin Illuminating Powder Duo ($80.00 // Neiman Marcus). I have a big love/hate with Tom Ford beauty products. I love most of them but the brands quality control is below sub-par. For the money you pay you shouldn’t worry about eyeshadow pans being unglued from the palette and falling out, or lipsticks breaking off as soon as you twist them up (and even before you use them). At first I thought it was because of shipping or climate… but then I bought some things in person and it was the same deal. One item I never had a problem with was the Moodlight Skin Illuminating Powder Duo. It’s more of a cream highlighter but it looks other level gorgeous when you want a bronzey, glimmering glow. You have to be careful with it or you can shimmer-bomb yourself. Using very little does help justify the high price tag a lot more, since it’ll last you that much longer.

Here are a few pics from my Instagram of the Tom Ford before I used it (when it was at it’s prettiest) and also swatches:

Now THIS is what it’s all about. The @tomfordcosmetics Moodlight Skin Illuminating Duo ???????????? smooth and pigmented… No matter how much I put it on it wasn’t ever over done. Can I just bathe in this always!? #InstaReview #tomfordbeauty #tomford #makeup #love

#swatches of the @tomfordcosmetics L-R: Moodlight Skin Illuminating Duo, Peach Ombré, Plum Ombre, Pink Ombre, Bronze Ombre. Yep you can barely see Bronze Ombre ???? that Moodlight tho ???????????? #tomford #tomfordbeauty #makeup #swatch #InstaReview

Next on my list? The new Hourglass Ambient® Strobe Lighting Powder($38.00 // Sephora). They’re getting some good reviews and I’m a fan of the others soooo…. yeah obviously I need them.

BECCA Cosmetics Haul Swatches, Review & FOTD

Press Sample/Affiliate Links

This week for Makeup Wars we’re talking our recent beauty splurges! Ever since my purchase of the BECCA Cosmetics x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector (review) I’ve had a rekindled obsession with the entire brand. In the last month or so I purchased a few things and was also sent a few things to try out! All of my reviews are below along with a look so you can see how I wore them.

Ever-Matte Shine Proof Foundation* ($42.00 // Sephora). 20 shades of this foundation are available but the one that matches best for me is Cashmere. I’m forever looking to tame the shine on my face. When applied this foundation was wonderfully mattifying, applying easily and blending out well. The coverage is medium but I did add a bit more to areas that needed it. I didn’t notice that this kept shine at bay any better than the other foundations I use and love, but this is definitely a great one if you need your makeup to last all day. I blotted my face with blotting papers and didn’t feel like I needed to apply more makeup product, which was nice! I also love that it’s got the good, buildable coverage but still feels lightweight when worn.

Ultimate Coverage Concealing Crème* ($32.00 // Sephora). 12 shades of this concealer are available but the one that matches best for me is Butterscotch. I found that this was creamy and easy to apply, covering all that I needed it to without disappearing on me. You don’t need a ton of product to get the job done so start slowly and add more as needed. The only downfall I have with it is the scent. It’s got a waxy odor to it… which doesn’t translate when you apply it (so you don’t have to worry about smelling it all day) but it is noticeable when you open the pot.

Shimmering Skin Perfector™ Poured($38.00 // Sephora). Five Shimmering Skin Perfector Poured are available and I purchased the one in Rose Gold. Because obsessed with all things Rose Gold! I was interested in this more as an eye shadow base more than a cheek color. It doesn’t hold the shadows well on it’s own, it absolutely requires a secondary primer or creasing will ensue. However it looks gorgeous with shadows over-top (see the look below!).

Ombre Rouge Eye Palette* ($40.00 // Sephora). Be still my rapidly beating heart. This is probably my favorite “rouge-hued” palette of all time. Five shades are featured in Neutral Bone, Pastel Mauve, Dusty Rose Petal, Burnt Sienna and Deep Plum. The pigment is fabulous, the shades are easy to blend and they work easily together and alone. The colors in this palette can be worn wet or dry and can also be used as an eye liner and for brows.

Automatic Eye Pencil* ($23.00 // Sephora). Only two shades are available in this eye pencil formula and I received Goa, which is described as a bronzed chocolate brown. It’s gorgeous on and works well for a strong look or a demure every day look. It stayed the day on the top lid and also below the lower lid, but did not hang on more than an hour in my waterline. It’s not touted as a waterliner, but that’s generally how I wear my liners so you know I was testing it there 😉

Eye Tint* ($24.00 // Sephora). Of the four shades available I receivedRomanticism, which is described as a mauve bronze. The eye tints apply semi-sheerly for a wash of color that you can easily wear alone or wear as your base for eye looks. There is a bit of shimmer (but not over-kill!) and it blends well onto the eye. On it’s own I need to wear a secondary primer underneath so it lasts all day long, but when I put other shadows on top it holds them in place on it’s own.

Beach Tint Shimmer Soufflé($27.00 // Sephora). Six shades are available and I bought Papaya/Topaz, which is described as bright tangerine red infused with golden bronze. This is definitely (to me, anyway) a Summer deal but I love the warm, shimmering, bronzed look it gives to my cheeks. It applies well and looks luminous with a color that lasts the day.

Afterglow Palette ($39.50 // ULTA Beauty). If ever you were looking to try a fun selection from BECCA for glowy purposes the Afterglow Palette should be your purchase. It’s got three Shimmering Skin Perfectors Pressed inside in Moonstone, Rose Gold and Topaz as well as two Mineral Blushes in Wild Honey and Flowerchild. Obviously I love the Shimmering Skin Perfectors but this was my first rodeo with the Mineral Blushes and I thought they were smooth, pigmented and so gorgeous. Definitely needing a full size of Flowerchild!

Champagne Glow Palette($34.00). This is the LE palette featuring the BECCA x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop highlighter! Two other shades join the latest cult highlighter in Blushed Copper and Pearl. Obviously, seeing as how obsessed I am with Champagne Pop, this palette is one of my favorite things. Wear them on your face, lids… wherever!

I posted a look a few days ago on Instagram where I’m wearing these products!

To get the eye look start by using a primer for your eyes – I used

The Best Beauty Gift Sets & Palettes of the Sephora VIB Sale

Affiliate Links

It’s the most wonderful time of the beauty year!!! Holiday Gift Sets! For this week the bloggers of Makeup Wars are sharing their faves. I love when we do this post because it works as my wishlist for family… it’s so much easier to send them to a website than sit there and try to remember what I liked. PLUS the Sephora VIB sale is going on so hopefully this list will you narrow down your list… or grow it… whatever 😉

Breakups To Makeup Holiday Bag($29.00 // Sephora). Okay… not a gift set. But even though I need more makeup bags like a hole in the head I’m obsessed with all the ones from Breakups to Makeup. The holiday bags are limited edition and yes, I need them both.

Kat Von D Lolita Lip Duo($19.50 // Sephora). It’s awesome Lolita that everyone loves and also Lolita II! I’ve heard great things about this formula and I’ve been dying to try it. These shades are perfect for the Fall/Winter season so the duo is a must-have for me!

BECCA Shimmering Skin Perfector® Opal Glow On The Go($20.00 // Sephora). Since I got Champagne Glow I’ve wanted all things BECCA. I also already bought the Pressed Champagne Glow Palette because not only is that shade in there but so are two more gorgeous shades! Opal Glow On The Go would give me a chance to try out another shade as well as the liquid form of the highlighters. I also want the Ombre Rouge Eye Palette. All the things, k?

Lancôme Noel Eye Set ($38.00 // Sephora). This is a great set to try out some of the best products from Lancôme. It comes with the best selling mascaras and eye-makeup remover and the new Drama Liqui-pencil (reviewed here) which do.not.budge.

Too Faced Melted Kisses & Sweet Cheeks($36.00 // Sephora). This set is just adorable. Beyond it’s cuteness the product quality of the full sized versions are amazing (all the blushes are swatched and reviewed here).

tarte Light Of The Party Collector’s Makeup Case ($59.00 // Sephora). I actually already bought this… mostly for the sequin case… but I had to share with you. Tarte has excellent quality makeup products and in this case you’re getting 30 eye shadows, 3 cheek products, a double-ended shadow brush and mascara all in that beautiful case. It works out to be less than $2 per product. A steal!

Benefit Real Cheeky Party Holiday Blush Palette($42.00 // Sephora). Packaging wise Benefit hands-down wins Holiday every single year. One of my favorites every time is the blush palette. This year it comes with 5 face products (including my fave Rockateur – reviewed here), Watt’s Up! and They’re Real! Mascara and Liner.

Urban Decay Vice4($60.00 // Sephora). Every year I say the packaging for Vice is my favorite but this year is beyond. They’ll never top the gorgeous holo shattered mirror effect. In Vice4 you’re getting 20 new eyeshadow shades and a double-ended brush as well as a coordinating bag to store it in.

Make Up For Ever 15 Artist Shadow Palette($59.00 // Sephora). These artist shadows are amazing and this palette gives a nice color assortment for you to play around with. There’s also a step-by-step guide included just in case you don’t know where to start.

bling.ring kit by beautyblender($29.00 // Sephora). Who doesn’t want something bejeweled to set their beautyblender on? It certainly looks prettier than just laying it over the case to dry. Definitely prettier on the vanity and a nice stocking stuffer size!

Elsa and Anna Compact Mirror($32.00 // Sephora). I can’t even tell you how obsessed I am with these Disney mirrors that Sephora puts out. Up until the huge release from this year I had them all (see here). However I truly can’t justify buying all of the new ones. If I had to pick one it’d be this Frozen mirror. I think it’s gorgeous and Frozen is one of my favorite Disney movies!

Jem and the Holograms Collection($16.00-$36.00 // Sephora). I’m arguably the biggest Jem fan in the world. Ask my mom. Anyway I need all of these things. IDK when or where I’ll wear so much hot pink but IDGAF. Get in my life.

Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector Swatches + Review // Makeup Wars

Affiliate Links

Usually I’m the first one to fall for a majorly hyped up product. However when the Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector®($38.00 // Sephora) released I didn’t dive on it. After all, I have a lot of highlighters and how amazing could this one be? Some time passed and more hype ensued. I broke down and ordered it online – never once seeing it in person or swatching it myself. My experience with testing it makes it the perfect choice for a feature in this weeks Makeup Wars post which is focused on “Things That Surprised Me” – in a good way, or a bad way.

The box itself is stunning. A flashy rose gold mirrored box with silver wording.

The casing of the Skin Perfector is the usual packaging that we see in compact products from Becca – round, black plastic with a silvered metal topper and Becca embossed around it.

As you open the compact there is a full mirror on the top side and 0.28oz worth of product on the bottom side.

Champagne Pop is described as a soft white gold w/ pinky peach undertones. As you can tell in the swatch below this highlighter is heavily pigmented but blends out so subtly it’s almost non-existent without the help of a light source.

Why is this product something that surprised me? Because when I first put it on I hated it. It looked like nothing on me. Like it did nothing. I was actually angry with myself not-so-much for spending the money on it but for believing all of the hype surrounding it. Frustrated I stomped into my makeup room to take a photo of the product on me, intent on doing what was likely the first negative review of it. When I sat down and loaded the photos up on my computer I stopped. What was that glow?! The highlight looked incredible in photos. Grabbing a mirror I ran outside and looked at myself in direct light. Luminous. This skin perfector/highlighter/whatever is fabulous at all of the right moments. Perfect in all of the right places. It’s a must have… Basically, if you’re going to strobe, strobe with this.

Below Champagne Pop is swatched heavily on the left and blended out on the right:

In the look below I used Champagne Pop at the tops of my cheeks and down the bridge of my nose. Please do yourself a favor and buy this.

The Becca x Jaclyn Hill Champagne Pop Shimmering Skin Perfector retails for $38.00 and is available at Sephora. This product is currently listed as limited edition.

Top 10 Luxury Highlight & Contour Beauty Products

Press Sample/Affiliate Links

Highlight and contouring are all the rage (thanks, Kim Kardashian) so for Top 10 Tuesday your fave beauty bloggers have come together to share some of our faves!

Chanel MÉDITERRANÉE LUMIERE D’ETE Illuminating Powder ($65.00 // Nordstrom). Lumiere d’Ete is limited edition but a brand new release so you can still get your hands on it! This subtle bronzer is more than just a pretty face – it packs the perfect shade for us pale gals to add up just a bit of color in a buildable way. It’s not intensely shimmery so it doesn’t accentuate pores, but I wouldn’t call it a matte either. It looks a lot more yellow sheered out on my arm than it did when I wore it, but it’s definitely more warm toned than cool. It was hard to dig into the product because I did not want to mess up that gorgeous rose design… but, and don’t boo me, it was worth it! Get your hands on this one fast!

* IT Cosmetics My Sculpted Face ($38.00 // ULTA Beauty). It’s all the colors you need to perfectly contour your face and a friends all at the same time. There are 6 shades within this palette so it’s also great to keep in a makeup kit because you’ll find something to work with any skin tone. There’s also an included face sculpting chart if you need a bit of help figuring out the best placement for the shades – there is obviously more than one face shape out there, but you’ll get the general idea and with a bit of practice be a pro in no time!

* Clinique Chubby Stick Sculpting Contour($21.00 // Sephora)Chubby Stick Sculpting Highlight ($21.00 // Sephora). It seems there’s a Chubby Stick for anything now and as a 90’s girl that was always in lust with the original Chubby Sticks I’m totally okay with that. The latest duo are a highlight and a contour stick (sold separately) that make it easy to mark up your face while the silky cream formula makes it easy to blend out. I personally love the size of these ones because my face is round and I’ve got a lot more area to mark up than you slimmies out there 😉

NARS Contour Blush ($42.00 // Sephora). One of my favorite highlight/contour products from NARS is the Contour Blush (reviewed here). This matte duo is perfect for subtle, easy sculpting and is available in three shades. If you like a bit more shimmer the new Dual Intensity Blush in Craving($45.00 // Sephora) is a fabulous pick!

Tarte The Sculptor Contouring Face Slenderizer($24.00 // Sephora). For those that find the size of something like the Clinique Chubby Stick to be too big for their face a great pick would be The Sculptor from Tarte (reviewed here). It’s still bigger than the size of a crayon but there is less of an area of exposed product. If you have a slim/long face, you may find that this one is easier for you to manipulate to the spaces you need it.

ColourPopAphrodisiac Blush($8.00 // ColourPop). Okay… so this isn’t luxury but I saw it sitting there and I had to make room for it in this round-up. It’s that amazing. The pigment is crazy intense but the formula is so smooth it makes it easy to work with and blend out. This will last all day long!

Charlotte Tilbury ‘Filmstar Bronze & Glow’ Face Sculpt & Highlight ($68.00 // Nordstrom). In case you’re new I mention this one constantly and it’s the duo I reach for the most (reviewed here). I call it my no brainer contour and highlight. One hit application on both sides and I’m out the door. It never looks overdone and it’ll last all day. Plus… the packaging is REALLY pretty 😉

Benefit Dallas($28.00 // Sephora). Dallas is allllll the rage in terms of bronzing and has been for awhile. I was always intimidated by it because it looked so dark. Once I finally bit the bullet and gave it a try I could never go back. The shade is beautiful for a bronzer but I even like to wear it alone as a blush (reviewed here). For highlighting I love to use Benefit Watt’s Up($30.00 // Sephora) also. I get samples all of the time when I purchase things and the little size is great to get into the arch of the brow, cupids bow, etc. Note – the full size isn’t tiny for the areas I mentioned, but it does have a little spongey deal on the other side for easier application and blending.

BECCA Shadow & Light Bronze/ Contour Perfector™($40.00 // Sephora). When this duo was new in store I had to have it the moment I saw it. It just looked so pretty. The contrasting bronze shades give the perfect contour. I lean more towards the light side in the Winter season but when my face gets a little color I add in the darker side.

MAC Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish($32.00 // Nordstrom). Okay who doesn’t love Lightscapade (reviewed here)? It looks like it would be a shimmer-bomb but when I wear it on my face it never turns up like that. If you want to look fantastical and glowy at all times, Lightscapade is where it’s at.

Is it really possible for one brush to do it all? Becca says that it is, and has created The One Perfecting Brush to cut makeup application in half by replacing 10 tools: foundation brush, powder brush, contour brush, bronzer brush, stipple brush, blush brush, fan brush, concealer brush, kabuki and sponge.

What Sephora says about Becca The One Perfection Brush:

What it is:
A true beauty multitasker, this patent-pending brush cuts makeup application time in half by replacing 10 other brushes and tools.

What it does:
From start to finish, primer to powder, The One Perfecting Brush can be used with liquids, creams, powders and anything in between. Non-porous, high-quality goat hair allows product to sit on top of bristles rather than absorbing, ensuring a seamless application with no wasted product. It can be used effectively as a foundation brush, powder brush, contour brush, bronzer brush, stipple brush, blush brush, fan brush, concealer brush, kabuki, or sponge.

The bristles are packed in a 3.5 inch horizontal design allowing you to effortlessly and evenly cover larger or smaller surface areas. The density of the brush creates a smooth, even, and airbrushed application every time, taking the guesswork out of brushwork. Flat edges fit the linear contours of your face, while curved corners allow for targeted, more precise application. Long, flexible bristles make a variety of application techniques possible including: targeted application, stippling, blending, contouring, and highlighting.

What else you need to know:
The bristles are free of dye, ensuring they will not lose shape or softness over time, and the unique shape of the handle and soft-touch finish provide complete control during application, allowing you to create your desired look.

This brush is firm and sturdy, but at the same time is a little fluffy and very soft. It’s definitely usable with foundations and liquid, but I much prefer it for powder formula. I use this brush daily for my bronzer, contour, blush and highlighting and it allows me to move a lot quicker from one into the other, and blending is seamless. For blush, do note that you need to be careful that you aren’t applying to too large of an area. I recommend swirling just one side of the brush into your blush to apply at the desired area.

My OCD honestly won’t let me use this brush daily for an entire application process of makeup. I’d have to spot clean it in between products and deep clean in between uses. It just feels like a lot. Cost wise it’s still a good deal because I’d use it for bronzer, blush, highlighting and contour. So it’s 4 brushes in one for me.

Which is your favorite way to use this brush?

Becca The One Perfecting Brush retails for $49.00 and is available at Sephora.
