Allure Beauty Blogger of the Year – Challenge 5, Reminder to VOTE and REVLON SWATCHES & EOTD! – Super PIC Heavy!

Hello, everyone! It’s time for the fifth and FINAL challenge in the Allure Beauty Blogger of the Year Competition! This has been such an honor!! Don’t forget to vote, vote, vote!!!

Three steps to voting! Go to THIS LINK. Gaze up to the upper right hand area and click LIKE and TWEET. Then go focus on my face 😉 and Click the big red vote for me button! Simple! After youvote you’ll be entered to win one of two pairs of Monster Headphones and also the grand prize of a trip to Miami Beach and $1,000 in Revlon products!

In honor of Challenge 5, I decided to go on a Revlon Swatch-A-Thon!

For this competition, we were sent quite a few Revlon products in order to do the final challenge. I was so excited for the product, that I wanted to do a blog post and share with you all that was sent.

Another reason for this post, is to feature the products used in the video a little more. The tutorial part of the video was a little dark (more so on some computers than others), and I feel it’s important to check out the final look because it was a really unique combination of color, and possibly something you might not have thought of doing!

First, if you haven’t already, check out the video HERE and VOTE!

Now look at the photos of Julie’s face and eye look (this is the look I did in the video):

Can you even believe that she has no face powder on in those photos? The foundation is insane! So fabulous! Because the eye look is so dramatic it’s best to keep the lip and cheek makeup to a more natural minimum.

Here are the Revlon products that I used on Julie for the tutorial.

Starting with the Face:

(L-R: Revlon Photoready Color Correcting Primer, Revlon Photoready Eye Primer + Brightener, Revlon Photoready Concealer in Light, and Revlon Photoready Airbrush Mousse Makeup in 040 Natural Beige)

Now the Eyes:

(L-R: Revlon Grow Luscious Lashliner in Onyx, Revlon Grow Luscious Lashliner in Emerald, Revlon Colorstay 16hr Eyeshadow in Inspired, and Revlon Photoready 3D Volume Mascara in Black)

and finally the Cheek and Lip products:

(L-R: Revlon Photoready Sculpting Blush Palette in Peach, Revlon Lip Butter in Creme Brulee, Revlon Colorburst Lip Gloss in Gold Dust)

The eye concept was taken from the back of the Revlon Inspired Shadow casing.

I did decide to dress it up a bit more for a more glam look by using the Emerald Lashliner as a base for the robin’s egg blue shade (aka shade 2). This REALLY made the lid pop. If you check out the photo below, you’ll see the left eye is with the Emerald base, and the right side is without:

Now on to the goods!

Here I am going to break down all of the products sent! I tried them ALL so I could do a full post of everything.

Let’s start with the Priming products:

Perfecting Primer, Color Correcting Primer, and Eye Primer + Brightener

(L-R: Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer, Revlon Photoready Color Correcting Primer, and Revlon Photoready Eye Primer + Brightener)

The Revlon PhotoReady Perfecting Primer and Color Correcting Primer are excellent to put on the face before applying the Mousse Makeup. It helps create a better canvas for your makeup and reduces the appearance of lines and discoloration.

The Revlon PhotoReady Eye Primer + Brightener can be used as a base for your shadows or (how I like to use it) to blend out the Concealer under the eye or on trouble spots. However, you can use this anywhere on your face that you want or need to.

Now for the Face products:

Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush Mousse Makeup

(L-R: 010 Vanilla, 020 Shell, 030 Nude, and 040 Natural Beige)

(L-R: 050 Medium Beige, 060 Golden Beige, 070 Rich Ginger, and 080 Caramel)

The Revlon PhotoReady Mousse Makeup sprays out generously as a foam. You only need one spray to get the right amount of product for your whole face. This product spreads evenly and easily for a full coverage, matte look.

Revlon PhotoReady Concealer

(L-R: 001 Fair, 002 Light, 003 Light Medium, 004 Medium, 005 Medium Deep, and 006 Deep)

The Revlon PhotoReady Concealer is a nice, thick concealer, but not so thick that it’s going to accentuate the lines of your face. Like with the Mousse Makeup, you need very little product for application, and this blends in well with the Eye Primer + Brightener.

Revlon PhotoReady Sculpting Blush Palette

The Revlon PhotoReady Sculpting Blush Palette contains three shades meant to illuminate, sculpt and color your cheek into ultimate perfection. I found these shades to apply very lightly, but a good trick to get a heavier amount of color (like in the swatch photos) is to scratch out a bit of the powder to loosen it and then pick it up with your brush to apply.

The contour and illuminating areas of the palette are on the small side, so you’ll want to use the included brush for those. The color is twice the size, so you can continue to use the included brush, or your own blush brush for that step.

On to the Eye products!

This is going to be a lot of pics, because I did swatches AND an eye look for each palette. The eye looks were done as instructed by the back of each compact. On with the show!

Starting off with the Mascara and Liners:

I was pleasantly surprised that I loved the Revlon PhotoReady 3D Volume Mascara. I’m super picky about mascaras to love, and this one is at the top of the pack. I recently forgot mascara during my recent trip to Disney World, and I ran right to Walgreens and purchased this one! Now I have two!

The Revlon Grow Luscious Lash Liner is a super pigmented and soft liner. Emerald is the stand out shade of the four, but all of them apply seamlessly and look great.

The Revlon ColorStay Creme Gel Eye Liner are mini-pots of creamy color goodness. I love how nicely they glide on. The included brush fits nicely into the pot. I’ve found with this type of brush, it’s best to dot the color on and then glide them into a line.

Next we’ll do the eye looks. Each look was made using ALL Revlon products. The Mascara was the PhotoReady 3D Volume and I also used the liners shown above:

The Eyeshadows all really surprised me in terms of quality and durability. Goddess was a surprise favorite as well as Bombshell and Enchanted. I did all of the eye looks based off of the diagrams on the back of the palette. You don’t HAVE to use this diagram, but it’s definitely an easy way to wear. If you find the colors aren’t as vibrant as you would like, add a coat of the pencil or cream liner as a base before you apply (like I did with Julie!).

Finally… the lips (you didn’t think we were DONE did you?!) You’re going to be so sick of my pucker by the end of this lol but it’s worth it!

I want to start off with one of my favorite products, the Revlon Lip Butters! (I know you’ve heard of these, everyone loves them as being the drugstore dupes of the “designer” lip balms!).

(L-R: Creme Brulee, Brown Sugar, Peach Parfait, Fig Jam)

Now for the Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss! These are great glosses with minimal stick. They range from creamy to shimmery, sheer to pigmented. They actually remind me of Glossimers!

Some More New Bloggy Awards!!

So, I’m sitting here, finishing up my third Tarte for True Blood Eye look, ready to photog… camera batteries die. Seriously?! While I’m waiting for them to charge a bit (because I want to get this done since I’m going to the pool in an hour lol and don’t want to redo my eyeball AGAIN) I wanted to give 2 more shout outs for blog awards that were passed on to me. I received awards from Sammi at Utopista, and from Pooja_G at Beauty, Brains, and Brawns.

One of them I haven’t received yet, so here we go!:

1. Link back and thank the person who tagged you.
2. Post seven things about yourself and answer the list of favorite questions. ( I have already covered this previously, so you can click the awards quick link lower and to the right if you want to see them all)
3. Pass these awards to 15 bloggers.
4. Notify the lucky bloggers who got these awards.

Name your favorite colors: Red, Pink
Name your favorite song: Any of the mash-ups from Glee. I’m a gleek.
Name your favorite dessert: Lemon Meringue Pie
What pisses you off: stupid people. I hate to say that, it’s seriously mean… but some people are just jaw dropping…
When you’re upset you: close my eyes and count. I have kids so I don’t want to flip out or anything. If they aren’t around I DO have quite the trucker mouth…
Your favorite pet: I only have one 😉 my puppy Myla!
Black or white: Black because it’s slimming lol
Your biggest fear: something horrible happening to my kids, or anyone in my family for that matter. And spiders. I tense up and then lose my mind lol
Best feature: eyes?
Everyday Attitude: I generally try to stay upbeat and positive. We can’t be like that ALL of the time, but I think it takes the edge off of someone elses bad mood if you’re happy
What is perfection: silence. sometimes it’s nice to just sit and hear nothing for a bit 😉
Guilty pleasure: I think it’s obviously makeup 😉 Especially high end brands like Le Metier de Beaute, Chanel, and Dior. mmmmm. I LOVE to buy a lot of MAC too. I adore visiting the counters and talking makeup with people in person, who actually are as crazy about it as I am!

I tag everyone who is reading this post and hasn’t done it before to get er done! You’ve ALL BEEN TAGGED! =D

Two New Bloggy Awards!!

So extremely flattered and excited to be awarded with not one, but two blog awards!

It’s so awesome to be recognized by my peers and to be given these awards. Click the links and check these awesome bloggers out, they deserve the love!!!

Award Time!!!

Hey, everyone!

To pass on the Beautiful Blogger Award I tag the following blogs:
~ Tracey (US) @ GingerKitty Designs
~ Emma (UK) @ Birds Decorate Branches
~ Emily (US) @ Wife Check Mom Check Now What

My second award comes from Tracey at GingerKitty Designs. Tracey makes AWESOME jewelry made from NAIL POLISH. Her creations are ALL one of a kind, hand made, and to die for! Be sure to check out her Etsy store!

This award is the Stylish Blogger Award.

The rules:
1. Thank and link back to the person who awarded you this award. Done above!!
2. Share 7 things about yourself.
3. Award 15 recently discovered great bloggers.
4. Contact these bloggers and tell them about the award!

Seven Things:
1. I go blank every time I have to think of 7 things to post about myself lol
2. I love jewelry from Tiffany. It’s an obsession when I get the catalog to pick one thing from each page that I would get if I won the lottery.
3. I’m determined to have NO lemmings. Which for me means buying everything that I’m lemming at the time which is expensive and will eventually be my demise.
4. I have a slight OCD issue and am constantly organizing random papers, drawers, toys, cabinets… you name it. Everything in this house is color coordinated and alphabetized.
5. I absolutely HATE cigarettes. I used to smoke YEARS ago and now that I don’t it grosses me out more than anything in the world. Especially the smell of stale smoke. People who smoke think if they go outside to do it then no one can tell… trust me… a non-smoker can smell you coming a MILE away.
6. I recently got a 3 drawer organizer for my makeup and it’s not big enough. =\
7. This wasn’t as hard as I thought it would be!

15 blogs…. well that’s a lot…. so I leave you with a couple lol

The Versatile Blogger Award!!

Emily over at Wife Check, Mom Check, Now What? has passed on an awesome blogger award to BlushingNoir! The Versatile Blogger Award!

The rules for this blog award include listing 7 things about yourself and tagging 12 fellow bloggers. Tagging 12 bloggers… it’s a lot. Emily did 3 so imma keep with my senior tagger.

First here are the seven facts about me:
1. I moved around (for my dad’s job) to 6 houses before settling in New Kensington, PA during the summer of 1989.

2. I met my husband in a beer distributor during the summer of 2003. We had a mutual friend working there who hooked us up with free beer (and me free cigarettes). Classy.

3. Tequila makes hubby a little bit crazy so he gave it up, and I gave up cigarettes, also in 2003. Best decisions ever.

4. I scrapbook. I love it so much I even became a rep for Creative Memories! The addiction becomes worse the more you’re around it.

5. I didn’t ALWAYS love makeup. I literally had next to nothing a few years ago when I used to sell MAC on ebay. I never used it. I tried it one day and never went back. Obviously I had to stop selling it though, having that much product on hand (for an addict) is just a recipe for disaster and bankruptcy.

6. I just learned to snap my fingers this past year.

7. I have a passion for the theatre. I did some acting in high school, in college, and a bit after and wish I had the time/money to persue it a little better.

Ok so here I go on my tagging!

1. GINGERKITTY DESIGNS – Tracey is the most talented artist that I know, and also the sponser of my current GIVEAWAY!!!! Click HERE to check that out!
2. MAGIC MAID – Obviously you all know by now that I love Nicole and her site is one of my daily addictions.
3. BIRDS DECORATE BRANCHES – Emma does some awesome looks, I’ve always been totally jealous of her eye balls!

WOOT! First Blog Award!!

I’m so excited! I woke up this morning, checked the blog roll and found I had a blog award passed on to me!

The Rules:

• Thank the blogger who awarded it to you.

Thank you EMILY!! Emily is my oldest and dearest friend. We go all the way back to FOURTH grade when we were both the new kids!! Check out her blog, her writing style is extremely witty, I think you’ll enjoy it!

• Sum up your blogging philosophy, motivation, and experience using five (5) words.

Happy for a kid-free zone. (I hypenated kid-free to make it one word, see that? hehe)

• Pass it on to blogs which you feel have real substance.
Christopher & Tia

The blogs above are ones that I check out DAILY and ones that have frequent and interesting posts. Well deserving of this blog award!

Emily also tagged me to answer the following 8 questions.

1) Do you have any tattoos? What/where?
There is one… which I got when I was a skinny thing. It’s a yellow flower (which has seriously grown into a Begonia since I had kids) with tribal biznass behind it. It used to be so beautiful lol I want another that I can make my kids the subject of, I just have no idea where.

2) Where were you born?
PA baby!

3) What was the first drink you had legally after turning 21?
What’s weird, is that my first DRINK I remember. I was 16 and it was with Emily, my friend who tagged me in this award. I have no idea what my first drink at 21 was. It’s likely it was either a shot of Red Headed Slut, a shot of straight Tequila, or a Parrot Bay and Pinapple drink.. Those were the usuals.

4) Which side of bed do you sleep on (if you were standing at the foot of the bed)?

5) What is your favorite curse word?
I drop the eff bomb a lot. Sometimes I catch myself and just say eff or fudge.. Luckily, my son copies daddy and not mommy!

6) What is your favorite band from the 80s? Bonus points if it’s a hair metal band.
Michael Jackson. I know it’s a person and technically not a “band” but this was back when he was really good.

7) Do you believe in ghosts/ufo/the supernatural?
I do. I have first hand experiences to prove it. They’ll freak your freak.

8) Who holds the #1 spot on your freebie list? You know what list I mean {wink, wink}
are we getting dirty right now?! lol Paul Walker and Jensen Ackles. They fight for #1. Fun to look at fo’ sho’.
