Gone are the days of wetting down your Urban Decay Moondust Eyeshadows to make them more saturated and metallic. There's now a liquid for that - the Urban Decay Liquid Moondust Eyeshadows($22.00 // Sephora).

These shadows are packaged in a round tube with a small, pointed brush applicator. This type of applicator works well for a more precise, light placing of the product - I would personally prefer doe-foot for a more concentrated amount of color but this type of brush is perfect if you want to place the color over a liner.

Eight shades of Urban Decay Liquid Moondust Eyeshadows are released with a formula that works for using the product alone or layered over your favorite eyeshadow shades to give them a sparkly 3-D effect.

  • Solstice // pink-red with green 3-D sparkle and shift
  • Vega // bright blue with iridescent sparkle
  • Spacetime // deep coppery bronze with iridescent sparkle
  • Zodiac // Smoky black with blue-green shift and blue-green 3-D sparkle
  • Zap // gold with tonal sparkle
  • Recharged // peach with pink shift and sparkle
  • Chem Trail // oyster with iridescent sparkle
  • Magnetic // purple with iridescent sparkle

I found that these eyeshadows are best worn by dabbing the color on the lid and then using your finger to spread it out by lightly patting around. If you apply them and put a shadow over-top it does make the shadow pop a bit but it isn't as sparkly as you'd imagine. Patting the color over the eye look will give a fun, 3D effect.

When you apply the shadows you will get a bit of glitter fallout under the eye so I recommend doing your eye makeup before your face. When worn alone for 8 hours these did not crease for me, however the base color isn't opaque so it's likely that's why creasing wasn't noticeable. I also tried them with a secondary primer underneath and a shadow on top as well as alone and with just shadow on top. With the secondary primer involved there was no fading or creasing but after around 3 hours the side without the primer had creased and also faded. If you're stuck with oily lids like me, I'd suggest wearing the primer.

These aren't as pigmented as you'd imagine - some are more than others - so if you're looking for major pigment you'll have to stick to wetting down the Moondust pressed version. IMO they look best over other shades to add the dimension and sparkle. My favorites are Solstice, Recharged (it reminds me of Tom Ford Sphinx!), Zodiac and Spacetime.

The Urban Decay Liquid Moondust Eyeshadows retail for $22.00 each and are available exclusively in-store and online at Sephora. This product is limited edition.
