Even if you're not in a bowling league there will still be something for you to love in the MAC It's a Strike! Collection. This line is full of sultry, vampy shades for Fall as well as some bolder and more fun hues.
Eye Shadow($16.00 // Nordstrom). Six shades are released in Gutter Gal (off-white grey, matte), Bowlarama(bright lime green, satin), Bowl Out(mid-tone grey, matte), 300 Game(blackened cherry, matte), Join My League?(dark espresso, matte) and Carbon (intense black, matte).
300 Game is the shade shown and even though it says it's matte there is a slight amount of silver glitter in it. I did an eye look with this (which I shared on Snapchat along with my overall impressions). I found this shadow to be hard and very dry. It was patchy when applied and reminded me of Carbon and the complaints that people always have regarding that shade. It didn't look good at all as a shadow, but it's absolutely gorgeous when you use it wet as an eyeliner. In the pic below (which was my Snapchat pic, so apologies for the quality) I used 300 Game as a crease shade but blended up and down the eye toward the brow and lid a fair bit to try and make it even and look better. I did this twice and got very little color payoff. I also used 300 Game in this look wet as my top liner and it's probably one of my favorite liner colors of all time.
Lipstick($17.00 // Nordstrom). Seven shades are released in Honeylove(light beige toned with rose, matte), Flat Out Fabulous (bright plum matte, retro matte), All Fired Up(bright fuchsia matte, retro matte), Perfect Score(deep red, matte), Bowl Me Over(deep burnt brown, retro matte // online exclusive), Liquid Lurex(tarnished gold, dazzle) and Babes and Balls (deep burgundy, matte).
Three of the shades are shown in Perfect Score, Liquid Lurex and Babes and Balls. The two matte shades were really pigmented with a nice opacity. They were comfortable to wear and lasted about 4 or 5 hours on me before they started to fade away. Liquid Lurex, being a Dazzle, isn't really comfortable or wearable on it's own but it looks amazing when layered with gloss shades. I particularly love it with It's a Strike Cremesheen Glass.
Cremesheen Glass($21.00 // Nordstrom). Five shades are released in It’s A Strike(soft nude pink), King Pin(deep chocolate mauve), Throw A Spare(fuchsia with pearl), Right Up My Alley(deep red) and Spare Me(dark purple).
It's a Strike is shown and is a glossy, light mauve - my perfect shade for a Fall gloss topper! It's not super sticky (less than a Lipglass) and looks really gorgeous with Liquid Lurex Lipstick. Wear time was around 2 hours before the gloss faded (but there was still some color) unless I ate or drank a lot.
The swatches below are done dry, on bare skin (no primers). 300 Game is swatched heavily to show the color.
Nail Lacquer($13.00 // Nordstrom). Three shades are released in Rack ‘Em Up(cool deep khaki, cream), 5 Pin(deep wine, cream) and Baby Split(sheer lime green, cream).
Rack 'Em Up is shown and it's a browned-greige shade with a hint of khaki green. Two coats were needed for full and even coverage. (The shade is a bit darker in person than in the swatch photo).
Also released within this collection are three Fluidline Pens in Vintage Brown(deep dark brown), Retro Black(black) and Indelibly Blue(deep navy blue); one Pearlmatte Face Powder in Trophy(multi-colour, pearlmatte); two Casual Colour in Have a Lovely Day!(neutral nude) and Blind Score(dirty reddish lilac); and two Brushes in 116(blush) and 213(fluff).
