Yesterday for Makeup Wars we talked waterproof makeup. Tarte was mentioned quite a bit because they have some amazing waterproof makeup products, such as the items from the new and limited edition Aqualillies for Tarte Collection for Summer 2013.

Obviously, if it’s repped by the Aqualillies (who do water ballet), it’s got to be waterproof, and while the whole collection is stunning my absolute favorite item is the Amazonian Clay Waterproof Eye And Cheek Palette.

Amazonian clay is nature’s most perfect ingredient providing total skin balance for better, longer, truer wear. Tarte has made the epitome of shadows for Summer-time, all in one amazing palette. You’ve got five amazing neutral shadows with one turquoise pop of color, a gorgeous blush as well as a shade to bronze and highlight.

The shadows and cheek products are ridiculously buttery, pigmented and easy to use and blend. The shadows are shimmery, but not in an overdone or garish way. They’re just so smooth and enjoyable!

The palette itself is a round disk shape, maybe an inch thick. It’s plastic and decorated with an aqua and coral mermaid tail pattern on the front and gold accents. It opens easily to reveal the shadows, blush and a nice sized mirror. Perfect for your vanity and for travel.

This palette is a must-have. It will be lust-at-first-sight and then once you use it you’ll fall in long-term-love.

For the EOTD below I prepped with a thin layer of UDPP. Bikini is all over the lid with Parasol at the inner corners of the eye and then very lightly to highlight. Poolside was used in the outer V and Sundeck in the crease. The liner is MUFE 2L Aqua Eyes and the mascara used is Missha Signature Vibrating Mascara.

This FOTD is almost the same eye look but with more of the teal and also a different liner (MUFE 52L Aqua Eyes). I’m also wearing the blush, Captivated, from the palette.

Makeup Wars – Emerald Look Featuring L’Oreal The Temptress’ Gaze Quad, The Muse’s Attitude Nail Polish and Tarte Emerald Skinny SmolderEYES

For this weeks Makeup Wars the gals have decided to take on the Pantone 2013 Color of the Year, Emerald and show our favorite way to wear it. This is such a fun one for me personally, because Emerald is my favorite jewel-toned shade. And this post also comes to you just in time for St. Patrick’s Day! Get your green on!

Below are the items I’m featuring in my post, a few fabulous items from Tarte and L’Oreal!

I love to wear my emerald as a pop of color on an otherwise neutral eye. A great palette to start this process is the Project Runway Limited Edition Studio Secrets Pressed Eyeshadow Quad in 216 Temptress’ Gaze by L’Oreal ($8.99 at Ulta).

This quad has three shades (a bronze, golden copper, and a deep, matte brown) that make it easy to create a bold, yet lovely neutral eye with a fourth shade in green to mix it up.

But, I like to mix it up even MORE by adding in a true emerald hued eye liner. My favorite for this is the Tarte Skinny SmolderEYES Amazonian Clay Waterproof Liner in Emerald ($19.00 at Sephora & Ulta). This liner will not budge once it sets and it lines smoothly on the lid as well as on the waterline. There is no skipping, and it’s so soft all you need is one stroke for perfection.

Clearly, swatching and looking at product is fun, but the REALLY fun part is showing off the eye look!

For this EOTD I started out with my primer of choice, Urban Decay Primer Potion. Taking the L’Oreal Temptress’ Gaze Quad I applied the Bronze shade all over the eye lid except for at the inner corners where I applied the golden copper. The green shade is in the crease and blended up, and then I also blended a bit more of the golden copper over that. The deep brown shade was used to deepen the outer V. I lined top and bottom with the Tarte Skinny SmolderEYES in Emerald and then smudged more of the green shadow underneath that. The mascara used is Neutrogena Healthy Volume.

And, for kicks, an emerald nail look with L’Oreal The Muse’s Attitude Nail Color ($5.99 at Ulta)! I believe this polish as well as the quad shown are limited edition. Three coats of polish were used in the photo below.

She dabbed tarte’s cheek stain in awakening on the apples of her cheeks

lips:

Jenn swiped tarte’s LipSurgence matte lip tint in hope over her lips to bring out the pink diamonds in her earrings

body:

As a finishing touch Jenn applied amazon bronze Amazonian clay & annatto body bronzer with the golden gal bronzing buki brush all over her arms and chest to make her glisten

Kayleen started by applying tarte’s BB tinted treatment 12-hour primer in light to prepare Jenna’s skin.
Then she used Amazonian clay 12-hour full coverage foundation in tan all over her face and maracuja creaseless concealer in tan just under her eyes.
She finished by applying tarte’s Amazonian clay 12-hour blush in peaceful on the apples of her cheeks.

Eyes: “We wanted something iridescent, so I mixed a lot of shimmery shadows and liner to get the look.”

Kayleen mixed Amazonian clay waterproof cream eyeshadow in slate and plum smoke all over her lids and along the bottom lash line.
She then used skinny smolderEYES Amazonian clay waterproof liner in onyx on the outer edges of her eyes, both top and bottom and skinny smolderEYES Amazonian clay waterproof liner in slate on the inner corners and blended them well.
She finished by applying two coats of lights, camera, lashes 4-in-1 mascara.

Lips: ”We wanted a statement lip, but kept it sheer so the look was fresh.”

Kayleen used two coats of tarte’s LipSurgence lip tint in moody to build up the color and smudged it very well.

Body: “I wanted to give Jenna a little sheen on her skin. I rubbed a little bit between my hands and applied wherever the sun would hit her skin.”

Zooey Deschanel and Marion Cotillard wear TARTE at the 2013 Golden Globes

Celebrity makeup artist Jorjee Douglas created Zooey Deschanel’s look for the Golden Globes using all TARTE.

Inspiration: “We always love to go very 60s with Zooey’s makeup, so we look at Brigitte Bardot and Twiggy for inspiration. We went with a modern Zooey version that made her blue eyes pop.”
Face:

She prepped Zooey’s skin the night before with tarte’s pure maracuja oil to keep her skin soft and glowy.
To even out her complexion and ensure her foundation lasted she applied BB tinted treatment primer in fair.
Next, she blended tarte’s maracuja miracle 12-hr foundation to add extra radiance to her complexion. To conceal any uneven skin she used tarte’s maracuja creaseless concealer underneath her eyes.
She added a pop of color with tarte’s Amazonian clay 12-hour blush in frisky to the apples of her cheeks.
For a touch of shimmer, she applied maracuja blush & glow brightening lumiziner and cheek tint in candlelight to the tops of her cheekbones and set her t-zone with a light dusting of Amazonian clay finishing powder.

Eyes:

For a strong and defined brow, she used a mixture of tarte’s Amazonian clay waterproof brow pencil in taupe and medium brown.
To make Zooey’s blue eyes pop, she started by blending the bronze shadows from tarte’s beauty & the box Amazonian clay eyeshadow quad in “in the buff” all over her lids.
To create a cat-eye shape, she drew tarte’s multiplEYE lash enhancing liquid line r over her top lashline, with a dip at the outer corner.
Inspired by Twiggy’s lashes, she painted on tiny lashes underneath her bottom lashes with the precise tip of multiplEYE lash enhancing liquid liner.
She finished by applying two coats of lights, camera, lashes! 4-in-1 mascara to add major volume and drama to her lashes.

Lips:

Jorjee patted tarte’s glamazon pure performance 12-hour lipstick in bold over Zooey’s lips with her fingers to create a light stain and then went over it with LipSurgence lip luster in delighted to add extra shine.

Face:

Christophe mixed maracuja miracle 12-hour foundation in medium with tarte’s BB tinted treatment primer in light to ensure a glowing complexion.
To bring extra light around the eyes, he used tarte’s maracuja creaseless concealer.
Then he dusted Amazonian clay 12-hour blush in dollface over the apples of her cheeks up into the cheekbones.
He finished by applying a tiny bit of Amazonian clay finishing powder to minimize shine and set her look for the red carpet.

Eyes:

Christophe started by sweeping “meow” from the call of the wild Amazonian clay 8-shadow collector’s palette all over her lids for a splash of gold. Then he smudged skinny smolderEYES Amazonian clay waterproof liner in onyx at the base of her lashes to create a jet-black lashline.
For a one-of-a-kind blue, he mixed two skinny smolderEYES Amazonian clay waterproof liners. He started by lining the top lashline with skinny smolderEYES Amazonian clay waterproof liner in amazonite blue and then topped it with skinny smolderEYES Amazonian clay waterproof liner in slate.
To finish, he swept multiple coats of lights, camera, lashes 4-in-1 mascar a through her lashes.

Lips:

For a natural-looking pout, he traced her lips with LipSurgence lip tint in charmed and then added a dab of maracuja divine shine lip gloss in adored for a hint of shine.

Makeup Wars ~ My Holiday Beauty Wish List

Angelic is a very illuminating yet not overly shimmery highlighter. It’s soft and let’s the face glow. Very easy to use… just tap your brush in, and lightly dust over the tops of the cheeks or anywhere else you need brightened.

Fantastic

Fantastic is a purple based pink with satin finish. The shade scared me a bit, but it actually worked for my tone when most shades like this do not. It’s highly pigmented, so go easy! Less is more!

Magic

Magic is a peachy pink that seems like it’ll be a universal shade. This is also highly pigmented and makes the face come alive.

Stellar

Stellar is a lightly shimmery bronzer. Not so much shimmer that you’re all.. wtf… but enough so that it makes contouring easy for even a novice.
