Top 10 Items in My Purse ~ Beauty Edition

Affiliate Links

Do you know how hard it is for a beauty blogger to condense the beauty items that he or she needs in their bag?  Pretty freaking hard.  But I love this Top 10 Tuesday post because it’s forced me to clean out my purse and cut down on the basics (six lip products are definitely basic right?!).

IMG_7824Above is my Rebecca Minkoff Cupid Satchel.  The actual name is escaping me right now, and I can’t find it online =\.  This particular style was released during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale but it’s currently on sale even cheaper!  It’s not on the website right now, but I saw them on the sale table at my local store.

Onto the beautiful beauty contents!  In no particular order:

IMG_7835

  1. Hair Brush – I probably don’t need to explain that.
  2. IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation – for touch ups, which actually aren’t needed very often when I use this, but it’s important to keep a spare on hand anyway ;)
  3. Hand Cream – So important.  I hate that tight, itchy, dry-hand feeling!  The one in the picture is from L’Occitane, but as I run out it changes into whatever small size of something I have at the time.
  4. Nail File – Again, no explanation needed.  The above is from the Tweezerman Cynthia Rowley Series.  I like this one in my purse because it came with that protective plastic case.
  5. Anti-Bac – At any given time I have at least two of these in my purse.  I have kids and play areas are gross.  Malls are gross.  It’s just a lot of gross out there.  The above are Eucalyptus Mint from Bath and Body Works and Pure Seduction from Victoria’s Secret.
  6. Mirror – That circular zebra bling thing up there is a mirror.  This is more for someone else.  Like if someone asks if you have a mirror they can use… I don’t want to give them my powder compact… because …. well… germs, yo.
  7. First Aid Kit – Again, I have kids.  That thing is full of band-aids, tweezers (also Tweezerman), hand wipes, gauze… as well as Visine for momma ;) And I also throw hair ties and bobby pins in there so they don’t get lost in the depths of my always huge purses.
  8. Lip Products – There are six in the picture and you don’t want to even know what was in there before I went through it.  I tend to throw smaller sized products in my lip bag as “just in case” type things.  Above I took my top 6 and it’s a mixture of Dior and LipSmackers.  And, of course, the MAC Lip Conditioner for good measure.  I can’t stand dry lips.  Could you tell?
  9. Hand Towelettes – These are for emergency hand/face wipes for me or my kids.  They smell so awesome and are really handy.
  10. Pinch Provisions Mini Emergency Kit.  These are FULL of every beauty emergency item you’ll need (such as bandages, safety pins, stain remover, pain reliever, double sided tape…and a whole lot more – 17 in total!).  I keep a set in my bag at all times.  These are available at Sephora.

I hope you enjoyed my Top 10 Items in My Purse!  Check out what the other bloggers have in their bags and be sure to tell us what your must haves are!

Upgrade the Way You Shave with the Schick Hydro Silk Razor

Recently I decided I needed a face upgrade. Everyone knows that when you are too young for a facelift and already own too much makeup you go for sunglasses (which are also cheaper than a facelift). I have a weird obsession with buying aviators. I can’t own too many of them. The biggest problem with aviators is that they get stuck in your hair, and at the rate I’m going I’ll be bald before I’m 40. However, the only plastic framed sunglasses that I own are from Nine West and they are older than my kids (who are 6 and 4). Also, I swim with them on. Above water, underwater… I beat these things to no end. Longer story short, I needed a pair of plastic framed sunglasses I could look relaxed, yet chic in… enter Rebecca Minkoff.]

The new shade upgrade (see that? I can rhyme #BloggersWithHiddenSkills) changed pretty much every outfit I own and made it a little more awesome. I can wear these with jeans or a dress, not to mention the rose gold metal around the eyes makes me go off the rails because it’s so gorgeous. Upgrades = smiles! Smiles = a better, brighter face.

Another quick way to feel like you’ve upgraded yourself (again, also cheaper than a facelift) is getting smooth, moisturized, hydrated legs. Or, as my daughter so eloquently puts it “shaving your sharps”. For this I use the Schick Hydro Silk® razor.

IMG_7083The Schick Hydro Silk® Razor has been a favorite of mine for over a year now (see here and here). My favorite part about this particular razor is the Water Activated Moisturizing Serum which has a Better Hydration Boost than any other razor, keeping you moisturized for up to 2 hours after you shave. Which means, no diving out of the tub and frantically slapping on lotion so you don’t feel the skin dry out (I know you know what I mean *shivers*). You can step out of the bubbles, towel off, relax… and moisturize at your leisure.

This razor boasts five (yes, I swear there are five) curve-sensing blades so that it will move along the arcs and contours of your body with ease for an incredibly close shave while the oval shape maneuvers easily into hard-to-reach areas. The skin guards help protect against irritation and the soft rubber handle adds comfort to your grip.

Clearly, it’s no joke that I’m a huge fan of this razor since it’s been a holy grail shaving item of mine for well over a year.

Now for the contest! It’s time for a Razorvention!!!!

Upgrade your shave with Schick Hydro Silk® razor and you’ll be rewarded with silky smooth, hydrated legs… Once you experience this little bit of fabulousness, you may just want to upgrade some other things in your life too.

Rebecca Minkoff Jellybean Crossbody Bag Photos & Review

Lately I’ve been going off about crossbody bags.  For months I’ve been looking at them, thinking some are too big, some are too small… do I really want another basic brown or black shade, or something that will pop.. Basically I was indecisive, and the little (okay, very little) logical voice in me said, “if you don’t see one you love then you just don’t need it”.

Then, during one of my random looks on the Bloomingdales website, I saw a new addition from Rebecca Minkoff – the Jellybean Crossbody Bag.

IMG_6627 - CopyThe details, courtesy of Bloomingdales:

  • Leather

  • Imported

  • Shoulder strap

  • Zip closure; lined

  • 2 front zip pockets, 6 credit card slots, 1 slip pocket

  • 8” L x 1.5” W x 5” H; 22” strap drop

  • Web ID: 679473

IMG_6665The material is a soft, pebbled leather. I chose the bag in the shade of Jungle Green with gold hardware, mostly because the Pantone Color of the Year is Emerald.  The leather is pliable, and you can actually get quite a bit in there.

The main thing that drew me towards this bag is the three different sized zippered pockets to keep your items organized.  Since, usually with small pouches things can get disorganized very quickly, this was a huge selling point for me.

IMG_6651While you may be used to the blue with black polka dot lining in your Rebecca Minkoff bag, this one comes lined with a black and white pattern (the dust bag also matches the lining).

IMG_6662Purchase your own Rebecca Minkoff Jellybean Crossbody at Bloomingdale’s in the Jungle Green or in Purple.  Zappos also has this bag available in Almond, Black, Cream and Sunny.

Rebecca Minkoff Deco Earrings Photos & Review

Within the Rebecca Minkoff brand, the jewelry line is rather new.  Since it launched I’ve been drooling over and loving what I’ve seen.

The Deco Earrings ($168.00) have been at the top of my list since the beginning because they are bold and fancy, yet can be worn with jeans (I actually JUST wore them yesterday for Thanksgiving!)

What Bloomingdales has to say about the Rebecca Minkoff Deco Earrings:

These boldly styled Rebecca Minkoff drop earrings exude a tony allure, detailed with dangling stone centers and a sleek diamond-shaped silhouette.
  • Gunmetal/brass/glass
  • Imported
  • Post backs
  • 1.75″ drop

The Deco Earrings are the perfect length and have a studded post back that is a lot more interesting than your usual earring backs.  When you first put them in they feel heavy, but you’ll get used to the weight within a few minutes and it wasn’t bothersome throughout the day. These definitely make a statement, and aren’t for the faint of heart.

What is next on my wishlist?  The Scorpio Zodiac Necklace but in silver (because I wear more silver than gold, so hopefully that is in the works).  What are you loving from Rebecca Minkoff Jewelry?

Rebecca Minkoff Jewelry is available at Bloomingdales and on the Rebecca Minkoff website.

The Rebecca Minkoff website also has a huge Black Friday sale going on until November 26, 2012!  Be sure to check it out!

Nordstrom Half-Yearly Sale is ON!

Yesterday began the Half-Yearly Sale for Women & Kids at Nordstrom!  What this means for you is lots of stuff on DEEP discount (up to 40% off) and double points yesterday and also today!

I’ve had my eye on a bag for Fall from, of course, Rebecca Minkoff so I ran out to Nordstrom to be there the minute they opened.  It was a flipping MAD HOUSE.  Luckily, the bag I had my eye on was still there and 40% off.  The Rebecca Minkoff MAB Mini in Ecru with Black studs.  Retail on this bag is $525.00 (shown here at Zappos because it’s not currently on the Nordstrom site) but at 40% off it was $315.

It’s the perfect size for all of my must-haves and I can wear it with absolutely anything.  Beautiful!

While I was there I picked up a Michael Kors cell phone cover because my behind-the-times self finally got an iPhone and it needed to be fancied up:

So, what are you waiting for?!  Get to Nordstrom and get some deals!  Then come back here and share what you bought!
