Makeup Wars ~ My Holiday Beauty Wish List

The Makeup Wars Bloggers decided it would be a smart move to do up our Holiday wish lists.  Basically, if any family or friends are reading this and want to tell Santa so I have a little surprise under the tree… you won’t hear me complain.  I might even have a smooch waiting under the mistletoe for anyone thinking of me!

I thought it would be a good idea to pick some “wants” at several price points… just in case my hubby or someone else who loves me equally as much is checking this out!  Keeping it tame, this is just beauty items.  If I would have dove into handbag, shoes, jewelry… well, we’d have been here all day.

  1. Tarte Carried Away Collector’s Set ($54.00).  This set from Tarte has is ALL.  It’s so beautiful and clearly necessary for all of your beauty needs and wants!  Photo courtesy of
  2. OCC Pro’s Picks Lip Tar Set ($49.00).  I own nothing from Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics and I’m DYING to.  This set is the perfect opportunity!  Photo courtesy of
  3. Make Up For Ever Be Your Own Make Up Artist Station ($950.00).  Let’s just be honest, who DOESN’T want this?  At that price point it’ll very likely never happen for me, but I can dream!  Photo courtesy of
  4. Burberry Complete Eye Palette ($59.00).  I’ll take any of them, but the one pictured, Dark Spice, is my top choice.  Photo courtesy of
  5. Laura Mercier Illuminating Eye Shadow in Rose Gold ($24.00).  I love the style of the shadow pan and the shade just looks stunning!  Photo courtesy of
  6. Estee Lauder Michael Kors Set ($38.50).  This one is tricky, you can only purchase it with an Estee Lauder Fragrance purchase.  I cannot stand EL fragrance and I don’t know anyone to give it to if I bought it.  So go buy yourself some perfume and then get me this Michael Kors set!  Different sets are available at Nordstrom, Bloomingdales, Dillards, Macys and  I’ll take any of them.  Photo courtesy of
  7. MAC Hang Up the Glamour Hanging Travel Bag ($40.00).  It’s leopard on the outside, lacy looking on the inside and securely holds all of our travel junkies with style.  Hook me up.  Photo courtesy of
  8. Bare Escentuals The Star Treatment Set ($40.00).  I love the pressed shadows from this brand, and the shades in this palette are right up my alley!  Photo courtesy of
  9. MAC Making Pretty Brush Set for Face & Eye ($100.00).  I obviously don’t NEED this, but its so pretty and chic… I just want it to look at it.  I’d never buy it for myself, but would loveeee to have it as a gift!  Photo courtesy of
  10. Le Metier de Beaute CHEM60 Pro-Peel and GLOW10ai Mask Set ($265.00)  I am so totally addicted to this.  It’s easy to do, safe and it works!  You can check out my experience with this product by clicking here.  Photo courtesy of

Oh, drugstore beauty, I haven’t forgotten about you!

  1. Cover Girl Clump Crusher LashBlast Mascara.  I’ve heard great things from fellow bloggers.  Photo courtesy of where this product is currently buy one get one half off.
  2. Wet N Wild ColorIcon Eight Pan Eyeshadow Palette Collection.  I’d love the two palettes I don’t have that released with Holiday 2012 (I think the matte one, Drinking a Glass of Shine, was released before as I <3 Matte) in Sparkle ‘Til Morning & Shimmer the Night Away (see pics at Nouveau Cheap).
  3. L’Oreal Project Runway Electric Fantasie Collection.  Any and all of it.  We’ve been ripe with sickness here so I haven’t really been out and about to get any pieces =( See photos at Musings of a Muse.
  4. Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips.  I always see these and always want to try them out.  The colors just look so pretty sitting by each other.  The set shown above is in Nude.  Photo courtesy of

Physicians Formula pH Matchmaker LIGHT PINK pH Powered Lip Gloss Swatches & Review

How many times have you thought to yourself… “hmmm I really needs me a lip gloss that will react to my pH for the most customized lip color ever.  And, BONUS if it has a light and mirror”.  That exact sentence probably hasn’t crossed your mind all that much, because what are the odds anyone would create anything so handy, yet affordable?

The odds, they are good.

Back in April when I was in Florida and met up with the Central Florida Blogging Beauties, Brittany from Clumps of Mascara busted out the coolest lip gloss ever (if you click the link above you can actually see her using the gloss in the post… if you’re into that ;) ).  The Physicians Formula pH Matchmaker pH Powered Lip Gloss complete with flashlight and mirror!

This product is available in two shades – Pink and Light Pink.  I am reviewing the Light Pink because I didn’t want anything screaming out my pH all that much.

The Light Pink when swatched is a very pale pink with slight shimmer.  On the lips it amps up the pigment and makes for a natural, nourished, and healthy looking pucker.  The shade will react slightly differently to everyone and the website suggests waiting 60 seconds for the full adjustment process to take effect.

The gloss goes on thickly, but you won’t feel grit from the shimmer.  It’s said that these will give 10 hours worth of wear (with an Astrix that says under controlled conditions lol), but if you’re eating or drinking that’s not going to happen.  I mean, it’s all you if you don’t want to eat or drink for 10 hours.  You’re on your own there, though.

Anyways, bottom line, this is a pretty bad “A” product.  I loves.  Also, I got mine at Ulta during a buy one get one half off deal, so you can get two PF items and save.  The second one will be in an upcoming giveaway ;)

What do you think of this product?  Do you have?  Do you want?  Speak it!

Physicians Formula pH Matchmaker pH Powered Lip Gloss retails for $9.99 and is available at your local drugstore and at Ulta.
ETA - My DH just grabbed this gloss off of me to play with the light, shouting “This SH!+ is SICK” – LMFAO

Physicians Formula I HEART ROSE and I HEART NUDE Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Lipsticks Swatches and Review – Spring 2012

How cute are these?!  Physicians Formula is good at the charming products and packaging to draw you in, but does the product live up to the claim of Glow & Mood Boosting?

Previously, I’ve reviewed the Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Blush in Natural and in Rose.  These blushes with their whimsical little heart shapes were all the rage in the makeup world, and seemingly hard to find.  They are still around today (though I’m not sure if they are still available in these particular shades) and some are featured on the display with the Glow & Mood Boosting Lipsticks.

 I Heart Rose

I Heart Nude

(I Heart Rose, I Heart Nude)

I Heart Rose

I Heart Rose is a bright and rosy, cool pink.  The perfect pink pucker for Valentine’s Day!!

I Heart Nude

I Heart Nude is a beautiful peachy shade (it makes me think of candy, for some reason) but looks nothing like you think it would by the name.  For nude, you think tan colored, light, mocha… not peach.  But it’s a nice alternative for the warm toned who can’t pull off I Heart Rose.

These shades both went on smoothly, though the tube is big, so you need to be aware of placement so as not to go over your lip line.  The formula is light and not sticky.  If you don’t want it, you won’t need a lip gloss over top.

Overall, even if you’re not a fan of Valentine’s Day, these lipsticks are something to check out.  They are WAY cute.  While I’m pretty positive that these lipsticks won’t chemically raise your mood, it sure does make me happy and fluttery to look at the little hearts on top of the lippies.

PSA – don’t JUST buy them for that little heart.  The I Heart Nude one disappeared almost completely after 2 uses and the I Heart Rose is fading fast after 2.  Apparently they don’t go all the way down.  ALSO.  Pay attention to how you cap the lipstick.  I all but destroyed I Heart Nude because I put it on a little backwards.

Physicians Formula Happy Glow & Mood Boosting Lipsticks retail for $8.99 each, but when I bought mine at Ulta they were buy one get one half off =D I’ve seen these at every local drug store around here, so if you haven’t spotted them yet, don’t fear!  They’ll be there soon!

Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Blush in Natural

Physicians Formula Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Blush in Natural is my second Physicians Formula purchase. I was so impressed with the blush in Rose that when I saw that my local Rite-Aid had FINALLY gotten them (yes, seriously, just last week!) I had to buy it.

I almost passed, as they were over $13 (whutttt) at Rite-Aid, but I caught a peek of the little $3 off coupon attached so the splurge happened.

The color has a really nice glow to it, it’s actually more “me” than the Rose is. It’s in the same family as the majority of my blushes, none of which have little hearts. I really need to stop buying things for the designs and packaging lol My wallet doesn’t like it! $10 isn’t a bad price, though, and it’s easy to justify.

I’m happy to report that this one wasn’t attached to the packaging as much as the Rose blush was, so none of the pink prettiness on the back ripped off. However, the blush pan itself isn’t in there very good. Wonder if these would fit in a MAC Blush Pro Pan palette? Anyone know?

These are actually available at for $11.99 each (plus Ulta now boasts $3.50 off of any $10 purchase and free shipping when you spend $50). Retail on them varies…I paid $10 something plus tax for Rose at my local WalMart, but the Natural was a lot higher at Rite-Aid. Keep your eye out for the happy little coupon attached for $3 off. They are small and pink colored, so they’re easy to miss.
