NYX Cosmetics Revenge Is Infinite Makeup Collection Swatches, Review & FOTD

I may or may not be (okay I am) one of the most extreme Revenge fans ever. Not Revenge as in evil, but as in the hit show on ABC. Because of this, when I heard NYX Cosmetics was coming out with the Revenge Is Infinite Makeup Collection I lost my mind, drove to two separate Ulta locations – one of which had no clue what I was talking about – then finally just went off and ordered online. Luckily, online shipping is FAST and it arrived within a few days!

NYX Cosmetics Revenge Is Infinite Makeup Collection Review Get the Look SwatchesWhat Ulta says about the NYX Cosmetics Revenge Is Infinite Makeup Collection:

Inspired by the ABC hit series Revenge, NYX has created this limited edition palette to capture the beauty of the lead characters Emily and Victoria.

This makeup collection includes:

  • 10 Eyeshadows in Shimmer, Pearly and Matte shades

  • 6 Lip Creams including Bright Red and Deep Nude

  • 3 Blush and Bronzers to create the perfect contour and highlight

It’s made to look like the antique distressed wood with the double infinity of the real box, but on a sturdy coated cardboard.

NYX Cosmetics Revenge Is Infinite Makeup Collection Emily's boxAs you open the box the top part has a small mirror centered between two get the look cards – one for Emily Thorne and one for Victoria Grayson.

The makeup product level is easily removable so that you can keep the box after you’re finished using up the goods or if you just want to hide something private or special underneath.

NYX Cosmetics Revenge Is Infinite Makeup Collection ReviewAll of the shadows ended up working very well on the eye. I was a little concerned with the matte shades when they swatched because they felt dry, but when I used a flat shadow brush (MAC 239) they applied well and worked like a charm!

NYX Cosmetics Revenge Is Infinite Makeup Collection Eye Shadow Swatches 1 NYX Cosmetics Revenge Is Infinite Makeup Collection Eye Shadow Swatches 2The blushes are a perfect trio to get a natural look or a more glamorous one. Secrets was the only one that I just did not like at all. It’s a flat shade and I could barely get any color from it. As you can see in the swatch photo it’s hardly noticeable.

NYX Cosmetics Revenge Is Infinite Makeup Collection Blush SwatchesThe lip shades are exquisite. I love each of them, but I’m especially into Love and Envy. I am no fan of lip shades being in the same palette area as shadows or blushes, but the spacing between them is decent and so far it hasn’t been an issue.

NYX Cosmetics Revenge Is Infinite Makeup Collection Lip SwatchesUsually I’d gravitate toward Emily’s look, since it’s much more natural and what I’d generally wear on my day-to-day. Because of that I thought it’d be more fun to do the Victoria Grayson Get the Look:

NYX Cosmetics Revenge Is Infinite Makeup Collection Victoria Grayson Get the LookTo get this look I used UDPP as a base and followed the step-by-step instruction on the Get the Look card for Victoria. For the eyes I began with Charade at the inner corners, Vendetta on the lid, Duplicity at the outer V and crease blending up and Truth to highlight. The liner is Urban Decay Perversion 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil Smudged at the top and bottom. The mascara is a triple threat of IT Cosmetics Tightline, Too Faced Better Than Sex and Clinique Bottom Lash.

NYX Cosmetics Revenge Is Infinite Makeup Collection Get the Look Victoria Grayson FOTD 2For blush I used Illusion mostly in the hollows of the cheeks but I did blend up towards the apples since it’s a super pigmented shade. On the lips I just dabbed Envy on for a slight berry look.

NYX Cosmetics Revenge Is Infinite Makeup Collection FOTD EOTD Victoria GraysonNYX Cosmetics Revenge Is Infinite Makeup Collection Victoria Grayson EOTDWould you follow the Get the Look cards or would you put your own twist on looking like the ladies of the Hamptons?

NYX Cosmetics Revenge Is Infinite Makeup Collection Get the Look Victoria Grayson FOTDThe NYX Cosmetics Revenge Is Infinite Makeup Collection retails for $24.99 and is available at Ulta and the NYX website. For a limited time (until 5/3/2014 or while supplied last) you will also receive a full size NYX Cosmetics Le Frou Frou Boudoir Mascara with your online purchase of the Revenge Is Infinite Makeup Collection (this offer is only available through Ulta).

8 Holiday Gift Ideas for the Nail Polish Lover

Press Sample

Gift Ideas for the Nail Polish LoverNail polish by the singles and by the sets are really some of the easiest things to pick up for stocking stuffers or small gifts.  Below are a few ideas for the nail polish lover in your life.  Some of these are a little lesser known, but still fabulous and unlikely to already be in your recipient’s collection.

8 Holiday Gift Ideas for the Nail Polish Lover

  1. OPI.  Every year, all year OPI makes beautiful gift sets.  This year for holiday they have a Take 10 set ($24.95) filled with 10 minis of some of their most popular shades.  Another fave set of mine is Top This! ($27.00).  Which is a full sized trio of top coats – regular, matte and the sparkly Snowflakes in the Air – which is exclusive to this kit.
  2. NYXPrecious Pearls are so cool and popular as an accent nail or as an all over mani.  These kits are affordable ($9.99 each) and easy to use.  It even includes a funnel to return the escaped, unused pearls back to the bottle!  Three shades are available in Black, White and Opal.
  3. Incoco.  These nail polish applique’s are high quality, easy to apply and available in a multitude of shades and designs.  At only $7.99-$8.99 they’re budget friendly for stocking stuffers or even to add into a holiday card.
  4. Salma Hayek.  Beautiful shades of polish ranging from pearls to shimmers to creams.  There is a wide selection of colors and all of the ones shown below were opaque in one to two coats.  This line is available only at CVS and each one retails for $5.99.
  5. Nailtini.  Who doesn’t want to mix their own polishes at home?  Nailtini offers sets of “You Call It” so you can mix and layer your own shades!  $24.00 each and endless possibilities!
  6. Sally Hansen.  This line is certainly popular in drugstores, but these holiday lacquers from “Bling in the New Year” are so sparkly and beautiful!  You absolutely must gift them to your friends.  Four shades are available for $7.99 each.
  7. Jamberry.  This is a DIY nail application with an insane amount of design and color options.  They’re more expensive than others ($15.00 each) but there are a lot of designs to choose from.  Place an order, host a party or join the team!
  8. Megan Miller.  ($12.00 each) I love the look of these bottles, with the cork toppers.  It’s different and makes me think of wine, which is always a happy time.  And, that rhymed… I swear I’m not on wine….

December 2013 ipsy Glam BagFrom Andrea, Strip Lash False Lashes.  While I don’t wear false lashes regularly, it’s nice to have some on hand for special events or pictures.  These particular lashes are perfect for your holiday party or New Years celebration!

December 2013 ipsy Glam Bag contentsFrom POP Beauty, the Bright Up Your Life Eye Shadow Trio.  The trio I got was in Smoking Hot but a neutral trio was also sent out in Naturally Bare.  This smokey set of shadows is a little chalky, but overall work well and are usually my go-to look for holiday!

From Be a Bombshell, The One Stick in Flustered.  Flustered is a deep, rosy pink all-in-one stick, said to work well on eyes, cheeks and lips.  The texture was creamy and the color was lovely for the lips and when used very lightly on the cheeks. Two other shades were also handed out in Girl Crush and Sunset.

From NYX, the Extra Creamy Round Lipstick.  Subscribers received one of 15 shades, mine was B52.  I love this mauve type shade in the colder months, so this was perfect.  Mauve is my cold weather neutral and I’m always happy to collect more!  The formula is moisturizing and silky with a slight shine.

From Jesse’s Girl, JulieG Holiday Frosted Gum Drops Nail PolishSugar Plum Fairy was the only shade given out in this months bag and it’s a gorgeous, textured deep grape shade with silver shimmer.  Below is two coats, but it can also be opaque in one thick coat.

Jesses Girl Julie G Sugar Plum Fairy Nail Polish swatchDefinitely worth the $10 and then some.  I am absolutely in for January since the value from ipsy remains fabulous and keeps getting better and better!

November 2013 ipsy Glam Bag Review & Swatches

It’s got to be so repetitive hearing me go on about how amazing the ipsy Glam Bag is every single month.  The value in each bag is always around 5-7 times what you pay plus more.  For yet another month, I continue to be not just impressed, but completely blown away.

The theme for the November 2013 ipsy Glam Bag is Glam It Up.

November 2013 ipsy Glam BagWhat you see above is a gold metallic faux croc bag with a pink zipper.  This bag is so perfect because it can be your makeup bag but can also double as your wristlet.

The card is basically there to give you the run down of the discounts you can get by visiting the Glam Room on ipsy.com.  As usual, there are a ton of deals, specifically 30% off EM Michelle Phan!

From GLAMGLOW, the YOUTHMUD™ Tinglexfoliate Treatment.  I’ve totally heard of it, but never remember to buy it.  I actually made a squeal noise when I saw it in this months bag lol I put it on but took it off after about a minute or two.  It tingled but wasn’t painful.  It says to leave on 10 minutes but I definitely don’t think my skin could handle it.  I was left with soft skin that appeared to be brighter.  I don’t know if it’ll replace my ExfoliKate, but I’m definitely happy to try it out before I go off and buy one.

From Nailtini, the Straight Up Color Nail Lacquer in Caviar Cocktail.  Normally I’m a fan of this brand, but I thought this particular shade applied oddly and dried heavy on the streaks.  However, only one coat of polish was needed for full opacity.  The other shade given out was Champagne, which likely would have been more to my taste.

Nailtini Caviar Cocktail swatchesFrom em michelle phan, the Lash Gallery Dramatic Volume Waterproof Mascara in Black.  I’m not a huge fan of waterproof, but every gal needs one on hand, right?  This is a full sized product in this months bag, and I’m over the moon to try it!  I thought it lengthened well… but drama? No.  Volume?  No.  (scroll down to the pics below to see my FOTD & the NYX palette to see this mascara in action).  Happy to try it, but won’t be purchasing it later on.  However, I did already use the 30% off code and bought a few items from the website that I’ve heard wonderful things about!

From Be a Bombshell, the Lip Crayon in Hot Damn.  This was actually very moisturizing and I loved that it had a moderate amount of pigment at first swipe but was buildable to a very bold shade.  Another shade was available in Shameless, which people are saying is a wine color.  That’s probably more of my go-to shade than a bright pink, but I’ll definitely still use this since the formula was lovely.  I’m also wearing Hot Damn in the FOTD look below.

Be a Bombshell Hot Damn Lip Crayon swatchesFrom Starlooks, the Gem Eye Pencil in Amethyst.  This is definitely not me at all.  At first I thought it was a pretty, silvery lilac, but it wears much more metallic purple rave girl… which I feel like I’m way too old for on a normal basis.  There was also a Topaz shade that members could have received instead of this one.

From Pixi Beauty, the Bronzer in Subtly Suntouched.  This is just gorgeous, though way too light for me to consider for a bronzer (see fotd below).  The powder was soft and easy to blend and it’s definitely glowy so it will make an excellent highlight shade to use with a bronzer.  Other members also could have received Summertime.

November 2013 ipsy Glam Bag FOTDDefinitely worth the $10 and then some.  I am absolutely in for December since the value from ipsy remains fabulous and keeps getting better and better!

NYX The Parallel Worlds Box Collection Swatches, Review & FOTD

Press Sample/Affiliate Links

I know nothing about the Mortal Instruments series that this set is inspired by. Now that we have that confession out of the way, here is a better one… because of The Parallel Worlds Box ($25.00) from NYX I totally want to learn more about the series – both the books and the film!

IMG_5737IMG_5742What NYX Cosmetics says about The Parallel Worlds Box:

The NYX Parallel Worlds Box is Dark, Mysterious, and Dangerous. Venture into this new collection inspired by The Mortal Instruments. Includes a 6 color smokey palette, the perfect pink blush, a neutral pink matte lip cream, black liquid liner, a vibrant jumbo eye pencil, and volumizing mascara. Everything you need to create an innocent day look inspired by Clary or a sultry night look inspired by Isabel.

As you unwrap the outer cover the interior will show you everything that is inside the box as well as give you the ingredients of each item.

IMG_5747 IMG_5750After you lift the lid there is a small booklet that offers a few examples of looks.

IMG_5752 IMG_5755Now to the goodies!  A black drawstring pouch rests inside, filled with everything you’ll need to create your Parallel Worlds look.

IMG_5757IMG_5762Included in this collection are:

  • The Smokey Shadow Palette – which pretty much speaks for itself, though I was impressed I was able to use this more naturally, with the option to really deepen and smoke it out as the day turned into evening.  The first four shades swatch a little chalky, but are improved by leaps and bounds when paired with the included Jumbo Eye Pencil.
  • Soft Matte Lip Cream in Istanbul – love this product, hate the color.  It’s totally not me… a playboy type of pink.  I didn’t think it matched well with the set either… I’d have went more nude… but what do I know, I’ve never seen the movie lol. Formula wise it had a nice pigment and was opaque.  A little drying but not unbearable.
  • Boudoir Mascara Collection – Le Frou Frou – a decent mascara for length but not as much drama as I’d have expected.  No clumping, though, which is a major plus in my book.
  • Powder Blush in Pinched – this blush is crazy pigmented!  I used it lightly and still had to brush some powder over-top so that I wouldn’t get public stare-downs.  A beautiful flush of color when used correctly and it didn’t fade all day.
  • Studio Liquid Liner in Extreme Black – a totally deep black, completely opaque in one swipe.  The brush is a little long so it’s harder to control (I prefer that pointed sponge tip applicator) but it lasted all day.
  • Jumbo Eye Pencil in Cashmere – this is gorgeous and really made the Smokey Shadow Palette come alive.  When used alone I did get some creasing after a few hours, so I recommend a secondary primer.

IMG_6743 IMG_6757(L-R: Smokey Shadow Palette (swatched dry with no primer), Pinched Powder Blush, Istanbul Soft Matte Lip Creme, Cashmere Jumbo Eye Pencil and Extreme Black Studio Liquid Liner)

For the FOTD below I used  all of the products in the NYX The Parallel Worlds Box.  Other than the lip, I loved how the look came together!
