Just like Ciao Bella, Bellini Kiss comes to us from the set of NYX Love in Florence Eye Shadow Palettes (aka, beautiful combinations of five complimenting shades of shadow).

This compact palette comes with a dual ended applicator so you can carry the kit and spread the love everywhere you go. Available in 10 different complementary collections.

IMG_1633 IMG_1759Bellini Kiss is a warm combo of yellow gold, pink, browns and coppers all kissed with a light golden shimmer.  The shades of this palette were all nicely pigmented and buttery.  Application and blending were extremely smooth and the eye look featured below lasted all day without fading or creasing.

As for the packaging the black palette is sleek with a window on top so you can check out the colors.  No mirror, but that is okay since the closure is an adorable bow shape!

For this EOTD, I started off with a thin layer of UDPP.  The right gold shade was used at the inner corners of the eye, the right brown shade is on the lid and the chocolate brown shade is in the outer V and under the outer third of the lower lashline.  The copper shade is blended in and above the crease and the middle pink shade was used to highlight..  The look was finished up with Neutrogena Spiced Chocolate Nourishing Eye Liner and Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara.

In addition to the 9-pan Love in Paris Palettes like Je Ne Sais Quois, NYX also released some gorgeous combos of 5 shades entitled Love in Florence.  For this post, I’m focusing on Ciao Bella!

Live, explore and discover Love in Florence through the lush 5 color eye shadow palettes available in rich hues catering to all eye colors and looks! This compact palette comes with a dual ended applicator so you can carry the kit and spread the love everywhere you go. Available in 10 different complementary collections.

IMG_0135 IMG_0136Ciao Bella is a lovely array of pink, blue, coral and taupe pale shades and one deep black shade.  I found all of the shades in this palette to be rather light, with the taupe coming off as just a sheer glitter.  The applied nicely, just with not so much pigment, even when using a firm brush.  I imagine you could make it more vivid if you use them wet.  That being said, the eye look did last the entire day with no fading or creasing.

As for the packaging the black palette is sleek with a window on top so you can check out the colors.  No mirror, but that is okay since the closure is an adorable bow shape!

For this EOTD, I started off with a thin layer of UDPP.  The top middle ivory shade was on the inner third of the eye and to highlight, the grey-blue shade is on the lid and the black shade is in the outer V.  The coral shade is blended in and above the crease and the taupe shade was placed under the outer third of the lower lashline.  The look was finished up with Neutrogena Twilight Blue Nourishing Eye Liner and Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara.

NYX Je Ne Sais Quoi Love in Paris Eye Shadow Palette Swatches, Review & EOTD

Press SampleAffiliate Links

To start off 2013, NYX has launched some lovely new eye shadow palettes… 12 to be exact, under Love in Paris.  Of these 12 I have a rather neutral one to share with you entitled Je Ne Sais Quoi.

IMG_9423 IMG_9425What the NYX website says about the Love in Paris Eye Shadow Palette:

Fall in Love in Paris with our brilliant 9 color palette that complements all eye colors and fashion ensembles. Use this adorable travel friendly kit with the included applicator through every voyage and adventure for creating captivating looks and touch ups. Attract the Love in Paris with your eyes! Available in 12 color selections.

IMG_9431IMG_0087IMG_9938IMG_9884Je Ne Sais Quoi is loaded up with an assortment of neutral browns, cream, silver and plum… letting you transform your look easily from every-day to only-at-night.  For the most part, seven of the nine shades have a nice texture, applying easily and blending well.  My only complaints would be the black shade is a little chalky and the icy white on the bottom left it slightly patchy, but works great for that inner corner pop.

As for the packaging the black palette is sleek with a window on top so you can check out the color.  No mirror, but that is okay since the closure is an adorable bow shape!

For this EOTD I started off with a thin layer of UDPP.  I applied the middle tan shade all over the lid and put the top middle dark grey-brown shade at the outer V.  The middle left  medium brown shade is in the crease and blended up with the top left white-gold shade used to blend out the crease color more and to highlight.  The middle right white shade was used at the inner corners.  The eye liner is Pixi Copper Glow Endless Silky Eye Pen and Pixi Extra Eye Bright Liner on the lower waterline.  The mascara is MAC Plushlash.

NYX Medium, Dark Wonder Pencil Swatches & Review

Press SampleAffiliate Links

NYX has a new pencil that they’ve deemed the Wonder Pencil, because it’s works wonders on all areas of the face – whether you’re looking to brighten (eyes), enhance (lips) or conceal (blemishes).

This pencil is available in three shades – Light, Medium and Dark.  I have the Medium and Dark shades swatched below for you to check out!

IMG_9274What the NYX website says about Wonder Pencils:

• What it is: Multi-functional Wonder Pencil that conceals, brightens and lines.
• What it does: This product has the ability to hide blemishes, acts as a lip liner to prevent your favorite lip color from bleeding and is an eyeliner that brightens your eyes once you apply it on the water line.
• Why we love it: It’s the pencil that we can’t live without! It saves us from imperfections, feathering lip color and livens up our eyes!
• How to use: Use the Wonder Pencil as a concealer, simply apply the pencil onto your imperfections and blend with a brush or clean fingers. To use it as a lip liner, line the outside of your lips and then fill in with the Wonder Pencil to make your lip color pop. Lastly, to brighten your eyes, line the water line and illuminate your look.

IMG_9268 IMG_9272 IMG_9347The shades swatched above are in Medium and Dark.  For me, personally, the Medium shade works the best.  It wears on the eye naturally so it just makes you appear more awake, rather than making it look like you’ve waterlined with a nude kohl pencil.  It makes just that much of a difference so you get more of a wide eyed look.

This pencil can also be used as a lip liner (to make lipstick colors pop) or a quick concealer.  It does it all, making it a makeup bag essential!

NYX Wonder Pencils retail for $4.50 each and are available on the website and at Ulta.

Lucy Liu on the Red Carpet of the 2013 Golden Globes

The Beauty Buzz
From the Red Carpet of the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards
Sunday, January 13, 2013
Featuring: Lucy Liu (Actress)

image004Lucy Liu, Actress and Star of the hit show Elementary, stepped onto the red carpet of the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards showcasing a soft and natural look created by Celebrity Makeup Artist Kristofer Buckle using NYX Cosmetics. Wearing a beautiful, structured floral dress by Carolina Herrera, Buckle wanted to keep her makeup look innocent and fresh. “I wanted to create a pristine and classic look without forgetting about the Hollywood glam factor of the Golden Globes!” said Buckle.

Complexion:
To ensure the durability of Lucy’s makeup, Buckle started the look with NYX HD Studio Photogenic Primer. He paired the primer with the NYX HD Studio Photogenic Foundation in Soft Beige for full coverage without weight to bring out Lucy’s beautiful skin and natural complexion. Buckle then touched up Lucy’s look with NYX Concealer Wand in Medium where needed and then set the foundation with NYX HD Studio Photogenic Finishing Powder.

Cheeks:
To create the perfect red-carpet glow, Buckle did light contouring on the sides of Lucy’s cheekbones and down her nose with the NYX Matte Bronzer in Medium. For a touch of color, he applied NYX Powder Blush in Rose Garden on the apples of Lucy’s cheeks. Buckle then swept the NYX Illuminator in Chaotic high on her cheeks to maintain the soft and fresh look that would reflect perfectly off the bright lights of the cameras.

Eyes:
To amplify Lucy’s beautiful eyes, Buckle applied the new NYX Natural Shadow Palette in various shades of white, cream, and brown. He then swept the NYX Single Eye Shadow in Black on the outsides of her eyes to give them more dimension and definition. Buckle then added a few NYX Fabulous Lashes in Flare Lash Medium to create fullness and length, and then used the NYX Doll Eye Mascara heavily on her top lashes. To complete the look, Buckle filled in Lucy’s top lash line with NYX The Curve.

Lips:
To not take away from the intensity of Lucy’s beautiful Carolina Herrera gown, Buckle finished her look with a soft pink lip color using NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in Candy Land.

NYX Wicked Dreams Collection Swatches & Review

The NYX Wicked Dreams Collection features 24 shadows to create a multitude of looks that can range from neutral and every day to smoky and evening only.

I found all of the shadows to be of good quality, which is true to what we normally see with NYX products.  My least favorite of the group is the blue (first shadow, second row) and the green (eighth shadow, first row)… I thought the pigment was lacking a bit for how saturated the shades looked and they were chalky (if you use them wet this will make them easier to use).  The ones I was most surprised and impressed with were the black (second shadow, second row) and the teal (seventh shadow, third row) because I didn’t expect them to give me much, but they were extremely pigmented and soft.

All in all, as usual, for the affordable price of this eye shadow palette and the great quality of 90% of the shadows I have to recommend this to makeup lovers as well as people who are just getting into makeup.  There is no better way to learn to wear color than getting a collection of shades that are mostly neutral, but with a few jewel tones to amp it up.

001What the NYX website has to say about the Wicked Dreams Collection:

Don’t sleep through your Wicked Dreams! Dive into the charm of 24 eye shadows ranging from alluring natural and jewel toned hues. Make your dream a reality and enrich your look with the inspiration of your imagination! Carry your Wicked Dreams with you as you travel through your day and night excursions.

NYX The Crimson Amulet Collection Swatches & Review – Inspired by the Movie Dark Shadows

Well, I know this is probably not an available product anymore, but I did get it late and thought it was worth reviewing because I do love it and maybe you’ll want to see my swatches if you’re swapping for it ;)

NYX has developed an absolutely stunning palette inspired by the Tim Burton movie Dark Shadows called The Crimson Amulet Collection.

The whole collection comes in this book/clutch type palette and contains 24 Eye Shadows, an Eye Shadow Base, a Liner, 4 Lip Gloss, One Illuminator, and 5 blushers.

The outer box packaging:

The exterior of the palette:

As you open up the palette the first items you will see are the 24 eye shadows & sponge-tipped applicators on the left side, then a nice big mirror on the right:

The top 12 shadows are your more playful, vampy, sultry shades:

While the bottom 12 shadows are more neutral and wearable:

As you open up the other side of the palette, you get the see the rest of the collection which includes an eye primer, a black liquid liner, a highlighter, 5 cheek colors and four lip colors:

If you fancy looking like some of the ladies from Dark Shadows, the left side of the palette offers some looks for you to try your hand at in Josette, Dr. Hoffmann and Angelique.

The only item this collection doesn’t include is a mascara.  But, I’m sure you’ll have that covered. ;)

NYX The Crimson Amulet Collection retails for $25.00.  NYX products are sold at Ulta as well as online at NYXcosmetics.com.

NYX Stockholm Soft Matte Lip Cream Swatches and Review

NYX is a quite frequently raved about drugstore brand, especially for shadows and bases.  I’ve enjoyed their lipsticks before and am excited to give their Soft Matte Lip Cream a go!  For this particular post, I have the shade Stockholm to share with you.

What the NYX website has to say about Soft Matte Lip Cream:

Neither lipstick nor lip gloss—this is matte lip cream. A new kind of pout paint that goes on silky smooth and sets to a matte finish. Soft Matte Lip Cream is surprisingly durable and, unlike some matte lipstick formulas, also moisturizing. Available in 11 lip colors.

Stockholm was a bit less peach on the lips than in the tube.  It’s definitely more of a nude shade. The shade is perfect and is what I’m looking for as an everyday neutral.

Some cons…. This cream clings to every imperfection on your lips.  I exfoliated right before this and you can still notice some cracks.  It’s rather drying, and this is not a product you could wear alone without something on top if dryness bothers you (like it does me).  The wear wasn’t all that great, either.  That point disappointed me the most, because I love when the mattes are long-wearing.  I generally use a bold matte shade when I have some sort of function.

To combat the dryness you COULD put a balm on underneath, but that will effect the wear.  A gloss on top defeats the purpose of a matte.

Overall, the product is ok for the $$ but I’d rather spend more and get something that I love that does what I need and expect it to.

NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream retails for $6.00 and can be found at Ulta, or NYXcosmetics.com.  I also noticed a huge display of these at my grocery store, which is a Giant Eagle.  I live in western PA near Pittsburgh, so I’m not sure how widespread Giant Eagle is… but you might want to look in the makeup section next time you go shopping for food!
