NYC New York Color NUDE NEW YORK Liquid Lipshine Swatches and Review

New York Color (NYC) Liquid Lip Shine in Nude New York is pretty and appears that it would be flattering on anyone.  It swatches as a peachy nude but it almost sheer on the lips.  It wasn’t that sticky and I’m loving the 3-D effect!  It lasts as long as any gloss, a few hours sans eating and drinking, but the doe foot applicator makes reapplying a breeze.

I realize I swatched and review this product in my post on my Holiday Voxbox, but part of the Influenster Program is unlocking badges and in order to unlock the NYC badge this needed to be a separate post.  The product is a good one, so I don’t feel bad making you look again ;)

This product was provided for testing purposes by Influenster as part of their VoxBox program.  Influenster is a site that gives people the opportunity to join, earn badges, and have a chance to review products.  Check out the site for a look at the member benefits.

I signed up for Influenster back in October but this Holiday 2011 VoxBox marks my first shipment from them.  I’m excited to share with you what is inside!!

The Holiday 2011 VoxBox

The Breakdown

This Coconut Scrub from Softsoap smells amazing and feels really great.  I’m glad it was in this shipment to introduce me, since normally I have to stay away from putting fragranced lotions and soaps directly on my skin.  (Usually I use Safeguard for soap and Aveeno for lotion).

imPRESS Press-On Manicure by Broadway Nails are beautifully festive and perfect for the holiday!  I haven’t tried these out yet (since I’ve been reviewing quite a few polishes lately I can’t tie my nails up!) but I’m  thinking of doing this for New Years Eve.  If I do, I’ll be sure to do a separate post and review.  I’m down to try anything that doesn’t use glue, doesn’t destroy nails, and peels right off!

Mentos Pure Fresh Gum.  Now who wouldn’t want “The Fresh Maker” in gum form?  These taste AMAZING and stay fresh for quite awhile as you chew.  Only downside?  I had to use a weapon to open them.  I’m not kidding, I busted out a medium sized, rather sharp knife to break the seal.  You have to be He-Man (or in this case, She-Ra) to open otherwise.

Montagne Jeunesse Face Mask.  Full disclosure… I’ve tried something similar to this before.  I’m not sure if it was this kind from this brand, but I got it at Wal-Mart and a friend of mine got one for his mom also… I could NOT get the thing off.  It took hours to peel it.  When I called my friend to whine he said his mom was having the same issue with hers.  Needless to say, I haven’t tried  this sample yet because I’m a bit scared.  Well, that and I’m currently in the middle of a skin care trial lol I will try it though, I could use a good and affordable face mask!

New York Color (NYC) Liquid Lip Shine.  No idea what the color is, but it’s pretty and appears that it would be flattering on anyone.  It swatches as a peachy nude but it almost sheer on the lips.  It wasn’t that sticky and I’m loving the 3-D effect!

There was also a Larabar in Cashew Cookie with this shipment, but before I thought to take photos I opened it, took a bite, and spit it out.  I think the concept of these bars is awesome, and am sad I didn’t like it.  I think it was the flavor that did it, I’m not a Cashew girl.  They have a ton of other flavors including Apple Pie and Cookie Dough, which probably would have fared much better in this house.

I thought this VoxBox was SO fun.  It was full of items that I was actually really excited to see, and all of which were interesting. You should definitely check out Influenster if you like to sample and review products, especially since it’s a free service… what can it hurt? ;)

NYC PERSISTENT PINK & CHAMPAGNE STAIN Smooch Proof 16hr Lip Stain Swatches & Review

I’ve kind of gotten away from reviewing drugstore products. I was getting into a certain brand (*cough*NYX*cough*) and actually have a TON of stuff here to review… but in light of what happened and how it was handled I just really don’t feel like doing it right now. That may change in the future, but as for now… they remain in my “need to swatch/review” box.

Luckily I was sent these NYC Smooch Proof 16hr Lip Stains, and they’re actually pretty sweet.

(Persistent Pink, Champagne Stain)

From the Press Release:

This lightweight, transfer-proof stain delivers irresistibly smooth, vivid lip color all day long. With its precise felt tipped pen applicator system, lining lips and filling them in requires one easy step.

(Champagne Stain)

I completely loved Persistent Pink. The color was amazing, it applied like a dream…it now resides in my HG drawer. I loved Champagne Stain as well, and it looked good, but I found it hard to apply evenly. These are pigmented and I felt like I couldn’t get it to look exactly right.

The applicator made it pretty easy to apply and maneuver around my lip line. I didn’t find that these lasted the fully claimed 16 hours, especially when I ate and drank. The color dulled quite a bit (especially with Champagne Stain), though when I added a clear balm it did revive it a tinge. I think if you do purchase this you should still keep it in your makeup bag for touch ups.

I was sent over nine of these Lip Stains for consideration. I chose 2 (a lighter shade and a darker shade) to swatch and review, and the rest (aka the BNIP unused ones) will be included with the 1000 follower giveaway. That is SEVEN lip stains, all for the lucky winner!! You know the drill.. once we hit 1000 followers the giveaway goes live ;)

NYC Smooch Proof 16hr Lip Stains retail for $4.99 and are available at chain drugstores and mass merchandisers worldwide. Visit www.newyorkcolor.com for more information!
