MAC Ablaze Lipstick Swatches & Review – Fashion Sets

Affiliate Links

IMG_4712Fashion Sets must be becoming some type of annual thing, because one year ago MAC released Fashion Sets for the first time, albeit a little different, but Fashion Sets none-the-less.

Where the Fashion Sets of 2012 brought about wearable shades (such as neutrals Myth and Spice), the Fashion Sets of 2013 brings us neons and brights, for the more confident makeup enthusiast (and also added in extra products like liners and shadows).

In addition to those extras come the usual lipsticks and lipglasses, including today’s post of Ablaze Lipstick.

IMG_4708 IMG_4709 IMG_5886 IMG_5891Ablaze (bright apricot cream, matte) is a pigmented and vivid salmon color.  This shade is intense even after one pass on the lips and as a matte isn’t horribly drying.  As this fades out this will leave a very slight staining, and makes an excellent shade for Summer.

For more information on this collection, please see the Official Press Release.

MAC Fashion Sets Lipstick retails for $15.00 and are available at your local MAC counter (try Nordstrom, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s) or store, as well as online at maccosmetics.com.

MAC Shape the Future Extra Dimension Skinfinish Swatches & Review – In Extra Dimension 2013

Affiliate Links

Previously I reviewed the MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Definitely Defined, which made for a decent highlighter, but I was looking for more of a blush.  Luckily MAC released two more of the Skinfinish within this collection and I found a gem in Shape the Future!

IMG_3595What the MAC website says about Extra Dimension Skinfinish:

A liquid-powder highlighter with prismatic reflections that sculpts, highlights and models the face. The cool, creamy near-fluid formula creates a luminous, well-defined finish. Wears 10 hours.

9 g / 0.31 US oz

IMG_3568 IMG_3575 IMG_3576 IMG_3585 IMG_3592 IMG_3693Shape the Future (pastel pink with iridescence/soft brick with light shimmer) is exactly what I was looking for.  The pastel pink takes just enough of an edge off of the brick shade to make it wearable for my particular skin tone (NW20-25), though it’s important to remember with this blush that a little goes a long way and less is more.

It’s not too shimmery on the face and gives off a nice, pigmented sheen of color.  Not too frosty and easy to blend.

For more information on this collection, please see the Official Press Release.

MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish retails for $30.00 and is available at MAC counters (try Nordstrom, Macy’s, Bloomingdales), MAC stores, as well as online at maccosmetics.com.

MAC Hi-Def Cyan Chromagraphic Pencil & Farasha, Gameela Eye Shadow Swatches & Review – Art of the Eye

Press Sample

The latest MAC collection to release is Art of the Eye, which has a bit of everything to reach out to everyone – bright and neutral lovers alike!  It also brings about the re-release of Parrot Eye Shadow, which is a huge favorite of all (and if you’re all like “no, I don’t even know what that is” then look it up, trust me, you love it).

The collection is a decent size concentrated towards the eyes with two quads and several liners, shadows and the like.  Today I have three pieces that were sent to me to share with you – Hi-Def Cyan Chromagraphic Pencil as well as Farasha and Gameela Eye Shadow .

IMG_5080 IMG_5090 IMG_5095The Chromagraphic Pencils ($16.00 each) are no stranger to the PRO line, but it’s always exciting to see PRO products pop up for the regular makeup consumer to purchase.  Three of the Chromagraphic Pencils are released in this collection in Process Magenta, Landscape Green and today’s post of Hi-Def Cyan.

If you enjoy color popping off of your eye, the Chromagraphic Pencils are definitely the way to go.  They are intensely pigmented and glide on like butter.  These are meant for lining and defining, and stay on really well – they actually slightly stain a bit.

The Eye Shadows ($15.00 each) aren’t as bold as the Chromagraphic Pencils, but they certainly hold their own in the vivid category.  Of the five shades released in this collection I have two to show you in Farasha (bright deep orange, matte) and Gameela (deep pink magenta, veluxe).

Farasha had a nice pigment to it and is buildable to make it full coverage and less patchy. Gameela is drier than Farasha, but is also buildable to hide any patchiness on the lid.

The shadows are swatched heavily below and work best on the eye when used with a firm brush.  If you have any issues with the matte or veluxe formulas (which tend to be dry) a trick I usually like to use is to put them with a shimmery or frosty shade to blend, such as Parrot or Banafsaji from this same collection.  I suggest firm brushes when using these types of formulas for the easiest application and best color payoff.

The MAC Art of the Eye Collection is available for a limited time beginning May 2, 2013 at all M·A·C locations, 1.800.588.0070 and www.maccosmetics.com.

MAC RiRi Woo Retro Matte Lipstick Swatches & Review

Woo Woo Woo, RIRI WOO!  I waited an HOUR for this lippie.  No kidding.  I sat here like a complete weirdo and stared at the MAC website for an HOUR to get this lippie into my cart while a screen flashed “Do not refresh or leave this page because your lippie is being added to your cart” or something like that.  Basically, you’re in line, don’t move or you lose out on your RiRi Woo.

Luckily, I scored a MAC RiRi Woo Lipstick just in the nick of time, as they sold out in around 4 hours!

10 11 12IMG_5041IMG_5004RiRi Woo is described as a cool red retro matte.  It’s definitely drier to apply than a matte, but isn’t uncomfortable to wear.  In fact, I quite like it.  It’s super pigmented and insanely opaque.  I lined out my lips with the tip of this lippie before I filled them in and didn’t have any trouble, though you DO have to be careful with application and for Pete’s sake exfoliate before you wear it.

Is it like Ruby Woo (of which it was inspired)?  Yep.  I don’t have Ruby Woo here to swatch them side by side, but based off of swatches I’m seeing online they are almost twinsies.

The packaging is your usual MAC black bullet but you have a signature ala Rihanna etched on the actual lipstick inside.  This is totally her lip, btw.  I put it on and was all diva superstar like.  For real.

MAC RiRi Woo Lipstick retails for $15.00 and will be available again with the Rihanna Loves MAC collection, which as of this post is slated to release in June 2013.

MAC Sheer Seduction, Caliente Dazzle Lipstick Swatches & Review – Temperature Rising

Press Sample/Affiliate Links

The anticipation is high for the MAC Temperature Rising Collection.  And I’m not talking about just for me.  Though, the wish list… it is long.  This collection is full of all things golden, purple and bronzy… so perfect for summer!

Within this collection we get two creamy lipsticks in Feel My Pulse, Altered Beige and today’s post of the two Dazzle Lipsticks in Sheer Seduction and Caliente.

1 2 3 4 5Sheer Seduction (super dazzle bronze) is a peachy bronze shade with golden and fuchsia shimmer.

6 7Caliente (super dazzle violet) is more of a bordeaux with violet shimmer.

8 9The Dazzle Lipstick formula may appear gritty and frosty, but it’s actually not too bad.  Dare I say almost moisturizing. Not creamy, but really not all that bad.

Close up you can see that even when layered and worn heavily they aren’t 100% opaque, but when worn on your face you will obviously not have someone that close up and when it’s not that close you really can’t tell.

Again, I love the matte bronze packaging of this collection.  It’s just so chic-ly summer!

For more information on this collection, please see the Official Press Release.

MAC Temperature Lipsticks retail for $16.50 and are slated to be available beginning May 23, 2013 at all MAC locations (freestanding stores as well as counters at Macy’s, Nordstrom, Bloomingdales) as well as online at maccosmetics.com.

MAC Bare My Soul Eye Shadow x 4 Swatches, Review & EOTD – Temperature Rising

Press Sample/Affiliate Links

The anticipation is high for the MAC Temperature Rising Collection.  And I’m not talking about just for me.  Though, the wish list… it is long.  This collection is full of all things golden, purple and bronzy… so perfect for summer!

Within this collection we get two amazing Eye Shadow x 4 in Temperature Rising and today’s post of Bare My Soul.

IMG_4775

IMG_4787 IMG_4797IMG_4780 IMG_4786IMG_4776IMG_4840Bare My Soul has four shades – Bare My Soul frosted gold (lustre) When in Rio deep green with copper pearl (frost) Friendly deep bronze chocolate (veluxe pearl) Romantico light taupe bronze (veluxe pearl).

This quad is quite literally amazing.  Every single color is gorgeous, smooth and easy to work with.  Even Bare My Soul, which is the dreaded lustre formula.  When in Rio gave me very slight fall-out but I worked with it and blended it a bit under the eye to complete the look below.

The packaging is beautiful.  It’s probably my favorite that MAC has released with a limited edition collection.  It’s the regular shapes but coated with a matte bronze tone – very summer chic.

For this EOTD I began by applying a thin layer of UDPP all over the lid.  Romantico is all over the lid and through the crease, Friendly in the crease and blended up, Bare My Soul at the inner corners and also used to fade out the crease color, When in Rio is in the outer V and also a bit under the lower lash line.  The eye liner is MAC Mystery Kohl Power and the mascara is MAC Extended Play Gigablack Lash.

MAC Sweet Tooth Mineralize Tinted Lip Balm Swatches & Review – Baking Beauties

Press SampleAffiliate Links

We first saw the MAC Mineralize Tinted Lip Balm back in January with the Apres Chic Collection.  Personally, I am a huge fan of the formula and can’t get enough of them!  So, I’m really excited to see that they’ve released four more new (and limited edition) shades within the Baking Beauties Collection – Baking Beauty, Cheery Cheery, Glace and today’s post of Sweet Tooth.

IMG_2137What the MAC site says about Mineralize Tinted Lip Balm:

A liquid lip balm that adds moisture while providing the right pop of color and mirror-like shine. Enriched with a special, nourishing 77 Mineral-Rich Complex. Can be worn alone or over other Lip products.

10 ml / .33 US fl oz

IMG_2131IMG_3600IMG_3605 IMG_3607Sweet Tooth (creamy lilac) applies easily, almost feeling as if it would be sticky but once it’s on there isn’t any tackiness.  The shade is completely sheer, but the formula moisturizing and comfortable with a lot of slip.

For more information on this collection, please see the Official Press Release.

MAC Mineralize Tinted Lip Balm retails for $20.00 and is available at your local MAC counter (try Nordstrom, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s) or store as well as online at maccosmetics.com.

MAC Dimensional Blue Extra Dimension Eye Shadow Swatches, Review & EOTD – In Extra Dimension 2013

Press SampleAffiliate Links

For Summer 2013 MAC has released another round of Extra Dimension products, including six new Extra Dimension Eye Shadows – Opalesse, Triple Impact, Extra Silver, Zestful, Smoky Mauve and today’s post of Dimensional Blue.

IMG_2162What the MAC website says about Extra Dimension Eye Shadows:

A liquid-powder Eye Shadow with prismatic reflections in ten shimmering tints. Impact ranges from sheer crystallized light to a highly polished metallic effect. Lasts up to 6 hours.

2 g / 0.07 US oz

IMG_2176IMG_2170IMG_2575(swatched dry, swatched wet)

Dimensional Blue (frosty blue) is a very icy light blue.  These shadows run very frosty and I rarely wear them alone, and this girl is not scared of the frost ;)   The formula of the Extra Dimension Eye Shadows are nicely pigmented and easy to work with, no matter if you’re using them dry or wet.

For this EOTD I started off by blending MAC Eclair Pro Longwear Paint Pot all over the lid and through the crease.  I began by applying Dimensional Blue at the inner corners and working my way out, so that the majority of the product remained at the inner part of the eye and faded as it went out.  MAC Grain Eye Shadow was used as a highlight shade.  The eye liner is CoverGirl Perfect Point Plus Eyeliner in Espresso and the mascara is CoverGirl Lash Blast Volume.

MAC Extra Dimension Eye Shadow retails for $21.00 and is available at MAC counters (try Nordstrom, Macy’s, Bloomingdales), MAC stores, as well as online at maccosmetics.com.

MAC Éclair Pro Longwear Paint Pot Swatches & Review – Baking Beauties

Press SampleAffiliate Links

MAC has a sweet collection that recently launched, so adorable your teeth might hurt from all of the sugar ;) okay that’s enough.

Baking Beauties is a huge collection and contains five shades from the new Pro Longwear Paint Pot Formula – Dangerous Cuvée, Mooncake, Let’s Skate, Fancy Frosting and today’s post of Éclair.

IMG_2201 IMG_2206What the MAC website says about Pro Longwear Paint Pots:

A highly pigmented eye colour that goes on creamy but dries to an intense, vibrant finish. Long-wearing, colourfast. Creates seamless coverage without weight or caking. Blends smoothly over the lids. Cream-based, can be mixed with M·A·C shadows and liners.

5 g / 0.17 US oz

IMG_2209 IMG_2218 IMG_2583Éclair (light chocolate with gold pearl) is a warm chocolate brown with subtle golden shimmers.  At first touch this formula felt dry to me, but as the top layer blended away the product felt creamy.  It applied well with both the finger and a brush and held my eye look throughout the entire day with no creasing.

The original Paint Pot formula was nice, but I could never wear it on its own.  I always needed a secondary primer.  It’s so awesome that this formula works well, and I hope they release a few of my fave colors (Nubile, Groundwork) in the Pro Longwear line.

IMG_2228(one coat of Éclair blended out on the eye for a base)

For more information on this collection, please see the Official Press Release.

MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pots retail for $18.50 and are available at your local MAC counter (try Nordstrom, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s) or store as well as online at maccosmetics.com.
