In the interest of keeping with my “green theme” of today (well, maybe not so much as a theme since technically I only did 2 posts that were green) I decided to bust out the Laura Mercier Emerald Trio Petite Baked Eye Colour Bonbons from Holiday 2013 that I ordered because of a post I saw on Prime Beauty and also because of my love for the Bronze Trio.
The packaging is a rather petite, plastic mirrored compact that is extremely portable and easy to store.
The Emerald trio contains Aqua (a light mint shimmer with silver sparkle), Malachite (a duochrome teal) and Emerald (a deep forest green with shimmer). Very gorgeously St. Patty’s or Emerald City!
Clearly these shadows are much more intense when used wet, but I was still impressed with the pigment when I used them dry. The shades were all smooth and easy to blend. I did have a slight amount of fall-out with the deepest shade, so be aware of that and maybe do your eye makeup before you start with your face. When used over an eyeshadow primer, this trio lasted the day on my lids without fading or creasing.
These trios retailed for $25.00 each and while they’re no longer available something similar tends to come out every year.
Did you pick up any goodies from Laura Mercier holiday?
The PANTONE Color of the Year is Radiant Orchid. But you knew that. What may be a bit confusing are all of the “variations” of Radiant Orchid. PANTONE lists the color as “a captivating harmony of fuchsia, purple and pink undertones”. So, while the swatch in the link may look rather mid-tone lilac to you (confession, it does to me) that doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to stick 100% to the picture. As some brands have shown, the Radiant Orchid color is loosely interpreted. Which brings me to today’s post – Top 10 Ways to Get Radiant With Orchid.
Now, normally I’m a little too gung-ho with the limited edition high-end products, so for this post I made sure to incorporate very affordable slash accessible but accurate ways to get that Radiant Orchid look.
In no particular order:
Wet N Wild. For a long time WnW has proven they’re in it to win it in a big way. While still remaining extremely affordable the quality has skyrocketed making them a major leader in the land of drugstore makeup. Some of my picks for the Radiant Orchid Category are the Petal Pusher Eyeshadow Palette and V.I.Pink Perfect Pout Lip Color.
CoverGirl. I got to try out the Flamed Out Shadow Pots while I was #NAILGATING and I loved the formula! Of course for the Radiant Orchid post I needed to get my hands on 340 Blazing Purple, which, IMO, is dead on for the actual shade of RO.
Beauty Addicts. This brand was a hidden gem for me. I got a few products sent over recently and thought they were absolutely perfect for the Radiant Orchid post. SolutionEYES in Motivate Eyeshadow Quad and Lip Addiction in Tease & Fierce are now some of my favorite shades of purples, and will be even beyond 2014!
Eddie Funkhouser. Two of my recently reviewed items from Eddie are totally applicable to this Radiant Orchid trend. Be sure to click the link to see how to get the look using Bedroom Eyes Hyperreal Eye Color Palette & Peep Show Ultra Intensity Cheek Color.
Pop Beauty. Peony Petal may be a bit deeper than what you’d think of for Radiant Orchid, but I totally think it belongs within the category. It’s got that purpley pink mix to it, and a wide variety of people can pull it off!
Laura Mercier. Pink Prism probably looks super bold in the tube, BUT on the lips it’s subtle and shiny with a hint of the beauty of Radiant Orchid.
China Glaze. Of course, every brand will have at the very least one shade (likely many shades) that will be able to be placed in the Radiant Orchid category. China Glaze came to mind because I just swatched The Sea Goddess Collection and Wish on a Starfish and Tail Me Something could easily fall into this line up.
Marc Jacobs. The Tease 202 Style Eye-Con No.7 – Plush Shadow immediately came to mind (it’s not pictured, I’m in the middle of moving into an in home office space and a lot of palettes are piled up in a cabinet). As you can tell, if you clicked the link, this is full of variations of Radiant Orchid.
If all else fails, Number 10, head over to Sephora where, as usual, they’ve partnered up with PANTONE UNIVERSE to provide you with the mecca of all things “Color of the Year”. I’m kind of wanting that liquid eyeliner…
What’s nice about the 2014 Color of the Year is that the variations make it possible for everyone to find a flattering shade. Warm and Cool Toned alike, you can all wear Radiant Orchid.
What is your favorite “Radiant Orchid” Beauty Product?
The Laura MercierRenaissance Collection for Spring 2014 boasts some seriously beautiful products. I’m not crazy, I know LM always has beautiful products… but two in particular have just really wowed me this time around – the Creme Eye Liner in Graphite and the Metallic Creme Eye Colour.
Now, the Metallic Creme Eye Colour is shown in this post in Copper Sunrise, but there are several available (including a Rose Gold!) and I’m definitely going to be picking up more – so stay tuned for those as well as a look at the palette!
Copper Sunrise Metallic Creme Eye Colour is a lovely warm copper, that when sheered out isn’t too metallic but still provides a nice color and sheen. It can be layered for more pigment and shine. I used this as my only base on my eyelid and am happy to report I had no issues with fading or creasing on it alone or with shadows.
Graphite Creme Eye Liner is a little bit of a trickster. When I hear “graphite” I think of a deep grey shade. This one pulls way more green than grey, but both are apparent. I took a pic in natural sunlight that I shared on my Instagram and it looked teal! Formula wise I’m falling all over the floor like a dramatic nut-job types of impressed. Laura Mercier Creme Eye Liners are consistently so rich and creamy, they don’t budge and apply like silk.
How crazy beautiful are these colors?! My son even complimented me on the eye look below.
For the EOTD I simply applied Copper Sunrise Metallic Creme Eye Colour all over the lid, blending up to the brow. Graphite Creme Eye Liner is applied in a thick line on the top lid.
Rose Gold was a big hit for 2013, and it’ll definitely be carrying over into the New Year. For this edition of Top 10 Tuesday we’re featuring out Top 10 Rose Gold Products. I chose to focus on beauty, but I definitely could’ve gone the way of jewelry at this point!
Urban Decay Naked 3 Palette – The latest to the UD Nakeds, of course this palette makes the list! Out of all of the Naked palettes this one is my fave and I feel it’s the most widely wearable. Must have!
MAC RiRi Hearts M·A·C Holiday Cosmetic Bag – Not really so much a beauty “product” but it holds lots of beauty products! I ordered this sight unseen, unsure of how good the quality would be or if I’d even like it. I love it! The quilted fabric feels plush and it’s a definitely win. Review to come!

What Neiman Marcus says about the Laura Mercier Mini Lip Glacé Set:
Fresh. Bare. Natural. Lips long for color coordinated sparkle and shine. Laura Mercier has picked these fun, mini glosses to go anywhere, anytime. The Bare Nudes Collection features five fabulous shades from blush to pink. Wear them alone for a glossy hit of colour or layer them over your favorite lip color. Either way, they create the perfect pout.
Using the wand applicator, glide Lip Glace all over lips. Apply a light layer for sheer coverage or layer for more intensity.
(L-R: Pout, Bare Peach, Bare Blush, Bare Baby and Gilded Rose.)
These glosses are the perfect size to keep in your makeup bag or clutch for quick and on-the-go touch ups. Nude glosses are my thing to wear alone or over top any lipstick shade to refresh my lip look or add moisture.
Bare Nudes includes a variety of shades from pinks to peaches, some with understated shimmers (Bare Blush is the only one without shimmer). The formula isn’t thin, but it’s not thick and definitely not sticky. These will add a ton of shine to your lips and make them appear a little fuller. For those that like their lips to stand out a little bit more there is also a set available in Bold Brights.
