Lancome Blush in Love – Pommettes d’Amour, Peache Joue-Joue Blush Swatches & Review – Spring 2013

Lancome consistently impresses me with their face products.  I’m a huge fan of their powders and blushes and am a long-time user of both!  New for Spring 2013, Lancome is featuring a duo of Blush in LovePommettes d’Amour and Peache Joue-Joue Blush.

IMG_6399What the Nordstrom website says about Lancome Blush in Love:

A fresh, glowing blush to sculpt and brighten the complexion. Designed to suit every skin tone and available in two different harmonies.

IMG_6373

IMG_6378 IMG_6382 IMG_6395Pommettes d’Amour swatches a pinked peach and a candy colored pink for a more pigmented pop of color than Peache Joue-Joue.  Luckily, the color is buildable so it’s wearable for a wide range of skin tones.

IMG_7341Peache Joue-Joue is the less pigmented of the two, but my favorite.  It’s a simple peach sheen that will be perfect for fairer skin tones.  I layer the color a bit to get it to show up more on my own skin, but it just looks very soft and natural.  Perfect to reach for every day.

IMG_7003The blushes were both lovely and soft.  The iridescence on the roses is just an over-spray, so that’s gone after one use.  For the price the compacts are kind of chintzy with the pink cardboard… but the mirror is removable so you can keep it after the blush is finished.

Both blushes are limited edition to the Lancome in Love Collection.

Lancome Blush in Love retails for $49.00 and is available at Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Macy’s, Bloomingdale’s and on the Lancome website.

Lancome 24 KARAT Reflets Or Hypnose Mascara Top Coat – Holiday 2012

Lancome has the perfect way to dress up your eye balls for the Holidays straight into the New Year.  By taking their Hypnose Mascara and formulating a golden top coat, they created the 24 Karat Reflets Or Hypnose Mascara Top Coat.

004What the Nordstrom website has to say about Lancôme Hypnôse 24-Karat Top Coat Mascara:

Dress lashes with a hint of sparkle. Hypnôse 24-Karat Top Coat makes lashes appear luscious and fuller as the smudge- and clump-resistant formula keeps lashes soft and supple throughout the day. Wear alone or over your favorite mascara.

001 002 003 005If you’re a fan of Lancome Hypnose Mascara, you’re going to love their 24 Karat Top Coat.  When worn alone (shown above), it added a nice amount of gold, but didn’t really seem to make my lashes long, full and popped out.  I recommend wearing it over your favorite mascara, but be aware that the golden shade will make your black mascara appear brown.

There was quite a bit of fall-out from the wand when I applied this mascara, so be sure to do your eye makeup before you do your powders and foundations.  I also recommend that you only apply this to your top lashes, as it irritated my eyes (I wear contacts) a bit when I put it on the bottom.

Lancôme Hypnôse 24-Karat Top Coat Mascara retails for $26.00 and is available for purchase at Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and wherever Lancome cosmetics are sold.  This item is limited edition.

Lancome GOLD PASSION Artliner Waterproof Eye Liner – Pink Safari Collection Summer 2012

And the award for biggest blogger slacker is going to ME.  LOL I have had the Lancome Gold Passion 103 Artliner Waterproof Eye Liner basically since I said I needed to get it.  I had the pics and everything and just now realized the post never went up.  I’m sorryyyy!

But, the good news is, it’s still available!

What the Nordstrom website has to say about Lancome Artliner Waterproof Eye Liner:

Emphasize your eyes with this easy-to-handle, liquid pen featuring a uniquely shaped foam tip that lets you line, shape and define eyes to create any look you like. Rich, deep, luminous pigments offer the most intense, dramatic color. Glides on smoothly without scratching, tugging or skipping and lasts all day.

Gold Passion is (click photo to enlarge!) an aged golden brass sparkle.  I love these artliners.  The sponge applicator makes it easy to apply a straight and pigmented line of color.

The staying power is insane.  It’s been on my eye ball all day with no primer or shadow… nothing …and it hasn’t faded, cracked, moved… it stayed where I put it without fuss.  My kids could learn a thing or two!

Other shades released with this collection were Bronze Desire and Pink Luxe (which I swatched but seemed to be rather sheer and not very “luxe” like so I passed).

Lancome Artliner Waterproof Eye Liner retails for $29.50.  As of this blog post you can still purchase online at Nordstrom.

Makeup Wars – My Most Expensive Face

All of these Makeup Wars Battles have been fun.  But this one… this one is my baby.  My Most Expensive Face.  I’m not sure if I even want to go there.  It’s likely I’m not the highest here, as budget restrictions prevent me from getting the skin care that I really want, but I think it’s a lot higher than my DH or mother could ever imagine. We’re going to start off with my current skin care.  Skincare is something that changes quite a bit for me.  Right now I’m testing the new stuff from NARS.

I don’t use a ton of skin care, and there is probably more I could and should incorporate into my daily routine.  For right now, every day, I’m using NARSskin Aqua Gel Luminous Oil-Free Moisturizer ($58) and Total Replenishing Eye Cream ($55) as well as DERMAdoctor Ain’t Misbehavin’ Medicated Acne Control Serum ($45) on my chin and jaw areas.  I also use Murad Clarifying Cleanser ($26), the Clarisonic Mia2 ($149), Bobbi Brown Soothing Cleansing Oil ($42) and MAC Gently Off Eye and Lip Makeup Remover ($20).  This brings my skincare total to $395.00.

As for face makeup I currently start off (and finish) with Skindinavia No More Shine Makeup Finish ($19).  Next I apply concealer where I need it.  For this I use Le Metier de Beaute Peau Vierge Correcteur Concealer in Medium ($95).  For foundation 9 times out of 10 I reach for 3LAB Perfect BB Cream in shade #02 ($95) because it has excellent coverage.  As for my powder I have a tried and true HG that I’ve used since I was a teenager!  Lancome Dual Finish Powder ($36.50 ) shade varies based on the time of year.  For my cheeks I love to use Le Metier de Beaute Blush Kaleidoscope ($95) and Chanel Lucky Stripes ($95) to highlight.  This brings my face total to $435.50.

Moving on to eye makeup I have been starting off with Make Up For Ever Eye Prime ($22).  For eye makeup, on this particular look (because obviously it varies every day), I started off using Giorgio Armani 20 Obsidian Black Seaweed Eyes to Kill Eye Shadow ($32) in conjunction with the Le Metier de Beaute Penelope Eye Kaleidoscope ($95) and the LMdB True Colour Eye Shadow in Naked to highlight ($30).  For a liner, the one I always use with Penelope is Chanel Black Jade Le Crayon Kohl ($28).  The mascara I’ve been reaching for non-stop lately is the Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill ($30).  For the eyebrows I start off with the Dior DiorShow Brow Styler ($36) and then go over that with the Anastasia Beauty Express for Brows and Eyes in Brunette ($39.50) and top it off with Anastasia Tinted Brow Gel in Caramel ($21).  This brings my eye total to $333.50.

For the lips I like to line with MAC Subculture Lip Pencil ($15).  For lipstick, for this look, I will use Tom Ford Sable Smoke ($48) and for lip gloss Le Metier de Beaute Two Lips Lip Creme ($36).  This brings my lip total to $99.00.

For tools, I use Tweezerman Tweezers ($22), Le Metier de Beaute Eye Lash Curler ($18), and for brushes the MAC 168 ($35), MAC 239 ($25), MAC 219 ($25), MAC 226 ($24.50), and MAC 272 ($21.50).  The tools total is $171.00.

This brings my grand total to $1434.00 (with tax it’s $1534.38), and here is the end result:

It’s important that I note that a lot of these items were received as press samples (all are marked as such on their individual links).  And, obviously, you come to learn over time what works for you and what doesn’t.  The 3LAB BB Cream, for example, IS expensive and was a press sample, but I will be buying it when I run out because it’s AMAZE.  Nothing works as well as that stuff does (for me).

Was mine the highest?  NO.  But you’ll have to scroll through the other submissions to see which one was ;)

Okay.  Take a deep breath.  To stave off panic attacks quickly go here and see my $20 face.  It’ll help.

Lancome PINK SAFARI Sensational Effects Eye Shadow Palette Swatches, Review, and EOTD – Pink Safari Collection Summer 2012

Are you ready to peep one of the most gorgeous eye shadow palettes of Summer 2012?  I thought so.

Introducing the Lancome Sensational Effects Eye Shadow Palette in Pink Safari!

What the Nordstrom website has to say about the Lancome Sensational Effects Eye Shadow Palette:

Infinitely luminous. Sensationally smooth. Sensational Effects by Lancôme is an all-in-one six shadow palette to brighten the eyes. Indulge in a limited edition compact with shades of golden pinks mixed with orange, copper and brown. Inspired by the desert sun and exotic mirages, it is a versatile, convenient palette to create a complete eye look for day or night. Limited edition.

Pink Safari contains six nicely pigmented shades of superior quality and even blendability.  From left to right – a semi satiny pale pinky cream shimmer, a cotton candy pink frost with hints of gold, a soft golden peach frost, the perfect inner corner white gold frost, a warm copper toned bronze pearl, and a deeply pigmented dark chocolate with golden shimmer.

All of these shades applied like silk.  The only shade I had noticeable fall out issues with was the dark chocolate, and it was just around the outer edge.  If you were going for a really smoked out eye you could probably just take that fall out and smudge it under the eye for a sultry Summer rocker eye.

This is literally the only shadow you need to take on your 3-day weekend beach trip.

For this EOTD, I started off using UDPP as a base.  For shadow, I started off putting the coral shade on the middle part of the lid with the MAC 239.  In the outer V I added the copper bronze shade with the same 239.  I placed the dark chocolate shimmer in the crease and blended up using the MAC 266.  In the inner corners I used the MAC 219 and added a bit of the shimmery white gold.  The cream shade was used for a highlight.

The eye liner used for this look was the Lancome Artliner Waterproof Eye Liner in Bronze Desire on the top and Lancome Le Stylo Waterproof in Bronze Riche (to be reviewed) on the bottom.  The mascara is Too Faced Better Than False Lashes system.

Lancome Sensational Effects Eye Shadow Palette retails for $49.50 and is available at your local Lancome counter at department stores such as Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, and Macy’s.

Lancome BRONZE DESIRE Artliner Waterproof Eye Liner – Pink Safari Collection Summer 2012

I love Lancome.  Their powder has been an HG of mine since I was 15 years old, lasting longer than most relationships in Hollywood.  Their Summer 2012 Pink Safari Collection has been one of my favorites since I can remember.  At the counter, I literally wanted it ALL.

I picked up my top items and am happy to start the sharing process with Bronze Desire Artliner Waterproof Eye Liner.

I haven’t yet tried this particular product line from Lancome, but the applicator is the type I like (tapered and spongy) so we basically can’t go wrong.

What the Macy’s website has to say about Lancome Artliner Waterproof Eye Liner:

Emphasize your eyes with this easy-to-handle, liquid pen featuring a uniquely shaped foam tip that lets you line, shape and define eyes to create any look you like. Rich, deep, luminous pigments offer the most intense, dramatic color. Glides on smoothly without scratching, tugging or skipping and lasts all day. Use 103 Gold Passion or 104 Bronze Desire for a rich, metallic gold or bronze effect. For a different, bright look, use 200 Pink Luxe alone or with a nude eyeshadow for soft effect. Trace the upper lash line to add pop to the eye and “break-up” the darkness of the smoky eye or a bright color for a daytime look. Summer 2012 collection.

Bronze Desire is bronze but with a copper tone.  I would describe it as a bronzed copper metallic with golden and olive shimmer.

The staying power is insane.  It’s been on my eye ball all day with no primer or shadow… nothing …and it hasn’t faded, cracked, moved… it stayed where I put it without fuss.  My kids could learn a thing or two!

Other shades released with this collection were Gold Passion (which I’d love to get my hands on) and Pink Luxe (which I swatched but seemed to be rather sheer and not very “luxe” like so I passed).

Lancome Artliner Waterproof Eye Liner retails for $29.50.  My counter had to order one and have it sent to me, so it seems the shade Bronze Desire is selling quickly.  As of this blog post you can still purchase online at Neiman Marcus.

Lancome GREEN PETAL Le Stylo Waterproof Long Lasting Eyeliner Swatches and Review – Spring 2012

I have never used an eye liner from Lancome.  Not because I’ve heard anything bad about them, but simply because I have my faves and just haven’t been drawn in to the brand by way of liner.  That all changed with the launch of their Spring 2012 Collection and the appearance of Green Petal.

What the Nordstrom Website has to say about Lancôme ‘Le Stylo Waterproof – Spring 2012′ Long Lasting EyeLiner:

Formulated for an intense eye look to withstand everything from tears to inclement weather, this waterproof eyeliner has a unique twist tip that never needs sharpening. Won’t skip, smudge or streak. The easy-glide, creamy texture helps you create any look you like.

Use 502 Green Petal for a frosty mint green accent, or 600 Blanc, a pure white, to brighten eyes. Limited edition.

  • Shades featured in the Lingerie Collection include Blanc & Petal Green.

Green Petal is a frosty mint liner, meant to highlight the inner corner and accent the eye.  This would also be an excellent base for your shadows.  This liner does apply smoothly and is very soft.

There isn’t a lot of pigment, so as a liner on it’s own, it probably wouldn’t be good unless you lined with it and then put a shadow over top.  Be careful of how hard you’re pressing (I learned the hard way and broke mine) and don’t twist it up TOO high because it won’t go back down (not mine, anyway).

Lancôme ‘Le Stylo Waterproof – Spring 2012′ Long Lasting EyeLiner retails for $25.50.  Green Petal 502 is Limited Edition to the Lingerie Collection.  You can find this at your local Lancome cosmetics counter.  I’m not sure if every counter has this just yet, so call to check on availability.

Lancome HYPNOSE DOLL LASHES Mascara in SO BLACK! Swatches, Review, Photos and FOTD

I’ve been anxious to share Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes Mascara with you ever since I ordered it well over a week ago. The pics and FOTD are actually from Saturday evening. I didn’t have time to post then because I did a Creative Memories party and then yesterday was an entire day of travel and food! I hope you’ll enjoy what I’m about to share with you now ;)

From the Nordstrom Website:

The secret behind doll lashes, finally revealed! Lancôme’s most flirtatious lash look. A volumized, extended and full lash fringe for a wide-eyed look.

The secret behind this amazing result? A new, unique, cone-shaped brush with nylon bristles provides an extremely smooth and clean application, precisely defining even your hard-to-reach corner and lower lashes. Combined with the exclusively developed FiberShine™ formula, it sculpts, curls and loads each lash for the ultimate shiny lash fringe. Lift and thicken every single lash without weighing it down. Push up your lashes for your most flirty, wide-open eye look with a clump-free finish. 0.22 oz.

I really liked Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes Mascara. The brush is amazing and does everything it says it will do. It didn’t clump, lengthened, curled and separated nicely. It’s up there with some of my fave mascaras from MAC, Plushlash and False Lashes, though it is a bit more expensive.

I am insane for the design on the packaging. I’ve said before how much of a sucker I am for pretty packaging. The girlier the BETTER. This has a beautiful floral design swirled on the outer tube. All of the packaging from the products in the Doll Lashes launch does. It makes me want to buy a palette even tho I don’t REALLY need one lol

I did a FOTD with this mascara, so you can check out the pics below. I only used TWO coats of mascara to get this effect. Imagine how huge and nice your lashes would look if you used an eye lash curler and a few more coats! (Note to self, try that).

For this look I used:
~ MAC Studio Sculpt Concealer NW25
~ Lancome Dual Finish Powder Matte Bisque II
~ Dior Hydra Life Pro-Youth Skin Tint SPF 20 – 1 Cream
~ Dior DiorShow Brow Styler
~ MAC Brow Set – Clear
~ Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes Mascara in SO BLACK!
~ Urban Decay Primer Potion
~ Lancome Emerald Boudoir Color Design Shadow & Liner Palette
~ MAC Orpheus Eye Kohl
~ MAC Stunner Powder Blush
~ Le Metier de Beaute Papaye Lip Creme

Happy Labor Day to those celebrating! I hope your plans weren’t ruined by rain. We did all of our partying yesterday (which is why I was completely absent) and had the off and on rain…ugly humidity… we did hours of traveling and hit 3 parties. Both kids were actually pretty good. I was VERY impressed!

Any big plans today? Or did you have any this past weekend?

Lancome Hypnose Doll Lashes Mascara retails for $25.00 and is available at Sephora, Nordstrom, Macy’s, and Neiman Marcus.
