Hard Candy Spring 2014 Makeup is Here!

There is a lot of fun-ness happening in the Hard Candy Spring 2014 Collection! What I have to show you is just a smidgen of the new makeup they have out there, so I hope you enjoy the photos and also share with me what you picked up for yourself!

Hard Candy Spring 2014 Swatches ReviewSheer Envy Color Correcting Primer ($6.00) Don’t be scared that it’s green (it neutralizes redness)! Now that we have that out of the way let’s get to my thoughts. It does neutralize redness if it’s not anything more than minor discoloration… Like if you’re lightly pinked, this will be fine. If you need some heavy duty help in the redness department you’ll want something a little stronger. As far as a primer for makeup it was okay. Not my fave, not the worst. For $6.00 it’s definitely decent!

Hard Candy Spring 2014 Single & Loving It Eyeshadow ReviewSingle & Loving It Eyeshadow ($3.00) The shades I got to play with are Sweet Sorbet & World Peace. It’s got this graffiti splatter pattern that I’m loving, though you can’t really use the shades separately and then once you swirl them they get a little smooshed. The end color is still pretty but the pattern will eventually be POOF. I’d really be enamored if they made these bigger for individual use.

Hard Candy Spring 2014 Take Me Out Glitter Eyeliner Pencil ReviewTake Me Out Glitter Eyeliner Pencil ($5.00) The shades I got to play with are Hot Coals & Nugget. I saw these were on the glittery side, so I was worried for the formula. I was pleasantly surprised that these were easy to apply and also wear. Because of the glitter I can’t recommend waterlining (which saddens me because I love me some waterlining) unless you know that the glitter particles won’t bother you. These are great if you want to add some random pizzazz to your eye look but don’t want to spend an arm and a leg on a glitter liner that you won’t use much. Bonus, each comes with a sharpener on the end!

Hard Candy Mad for Mod Collection Swatches & Review – Fall 2013

Press Sample

The Hard Candy Mad for Mod Collection for Fall 2013 offers up a lovely selection of color for the crisp weather!  Below are just a few selections from the new line.

Hard Candy Mad for Mod Fall 2013Pink Interlude Mod Quad Eye Shadow Palette ($6.00) – These baked shadows are said to be able to be applied wet or dry, but I get almost no pigment from this particular quad in dry form, but when used wet they shine with metallic pigment.

Hard Candy Pink Interlude Mod Quad Eye Shadow Palette swatchesHard Candy & Mistress Plumping Serum ($6.00) Hard Candy is a sheer, bright pink while Mistress is a sheer candy apple red.  You’ll feel an immediate yet slight tingle to the lips and then it’s gone, replaced by a cooling sensation.  I’m not sure if these definitely “plump” but the sheer gloss does give off a plumping effect.  On the sticky scale they’re about at a 4.

Violets & Roses Poppin’ Pigments Loose Eyeshadow ($6.00) These can be used wet or dry, below they are swatched dry over no primer.  There is a small sifter at the top which makes getting product a little messy.  Violets & Roses will be particularly lovely on cool toned beauties.

Innocent Shadow Dancers Liquid to Powder Eyeshadow ($6.00) This is an icy duo of a frosty pink and white.  A small dab will do ya and they set quickly, so make sure you smooth out asap.

Hard Candy STEPPING STONES All Lid Up Créme Eye Shadow Swatches & Review

Hard Candy All Lid Up Créme Eye Shadow ($6.00) is new for Spring 2013 and comes available in 10 shades.  The focus of this post will be on Stepping Stones, which is a versatile shade that can be used with many looks from day to night.

IMG_5476IMG_5633IMG_6115(swatched above with no primer, one finger swipe of color)

Stepping Stones might look like your average metallic grey in the pot… but sweet heaven there’s gold in them there shadows, giving this shade a slightly khaki vibe!  Are you as shocked as I am over how this shade swatches?!  Wooooo!

With this product, finger application is easiest for quick blending.  Stepping Stones goes on creamy and sets quickly.  This wore well and all day without creasing when blended out and also when I put shadows over-top.  If you just pack them on or don’t set with a shadow they’ll crease more quickly.

Hard Candy Madison Ave 595 Lip Def Lip Lacquer Swatches & Review

Press Sample

Recently landing at Walmart and ready to make your pout appear plump?  Hard Candy Lip Def Lip Lacquer!  Available in 10 shades at $6.00 each, this post will focus on 595 Madison Ave.

IMG_9406IMG_0168 IMG_4987 IMG_4994Madison Ave is a golden bronze shimmer gloss that applies a lot more sheerly on the lips than it looks in the tube or the arm swatch (so be not afraid!).

I was actually pleasantly surprised with the formula.  It had an excellent sheen, didn’t feel gritty and also wasn’t very sticky.  The slight golden shimmer gave just a touch of color to my lips and also made them appear a little more full.

Hard Candy Thunder & Lightning Poppin’ Pigments Loose Eye Shadow Swatches & Review

Press Sample

New for Spring 2013, Hard Candy introduces Poppin’ Pigments ($6 per set) in a variety of shades (8 duos to be exact).  Today I have #600 Thunder & Lightning to share with you.

IMG_9414 IMG_9415 IMG_9416IMG_9865 IMG_9870Thunder & Lightning are a duo of icy white and greyish blue pigments and are very finely milled (yay for no chunks!) and shimmery.  The formula was smooth and the product easy to blend and work with.

The vials are rather small, but the sifter opening makes the spill factor almost non-existant (though hard to get a good amount of product out for application).   Rather than a vial, I think I’d want to see a small pot with a wider area to stick your brush on the sifter.  I want to get at the super pretty colors as easily as possible, so, for the future working with the packaging would certainly be helpful. ;)

The Hard Candy collection is exclusively available at Walmart and on walmart.com.
