Guerlain PRALINE BLOP 401 Maxi Shine Gloss d’Enfer Lip Gloss Swatches & Review

Guerlain’s new gloss formula, Maxi Shine Gloss d’Enfer Lip Gloss, promises to deliver radiance, shimmer and volume (read: plump) to your lips.

20 shades are available (yes, they’re permanent) so I picked up Praline Blop, since it’s a shade I’ll wear frequently.

Praline Blop is a sheer peachy nude. Certainly not the most pigmented, only offering a hint of color on the lips, but the shine is tremendous and does give my lips the appearance of being fuller.

The gloss lays comfortably on with no stick or tackiness. For such a sheer (though lovely) gloss the price tag is definitely high. Personally, I chose this shade because I knew I’d use it a lot and for the money I want to get my use.

Guerlain Cils d’Enfer Maxi Lash Mascara Swatches & Review

So, this is just a mascara sample, but I’ve had a couple of people ask my opinion on this mascara and I wanted to get some photos and my initial opinion out there on the new Guerlain Cils d’Enfer Maxi Lash Mascara.

- First: Wraps the lashes in extremely adherent oils to thicken.
- Second: Made with supple waxes, it acts as a conditioner, softening the lashes so you can sculpt them into just the right shape and style.
- Third: Acts as a finishing touch to set the amazing curve.

0.28 oz.

This mascara provides an excellent lift, lengthening and curl to the lashes, even after one coat. Be careful if you’re going to two or more coats, as it will start to clump a bit. I had no issues with migration while I tested this mascara.

While I wouldn’t call it my number one favorite, it is a lovely mascara and one to check out if you’re still in search of your HG.

Guerlain 502 COUP DE FOUDRE Écrin 4 Couleurs Swatches, Review and EOTD – Spring 2013

Tempting us for Spring 2013 Guerlain has launched two limited edition vibrant and amazing Écrin 4 Couleurs eye shadow palettes – 501 Attrape-Coeur and today’s post of 502 Coup de Foudre.

Coup de Foudre is a quad of greens and a pop of apricot. You can use the shades separately for a lovely and refined look, or amp it up by using two or more to smoke out your eye.

I love how when you look at this palette you’d never imagine that the apricot shade would even mesh well with these greens. In fact, it’s actually just what this palette ordered! These shadows applied wonderfully and were easy to work with. I experienced no fall out with any of the shades, however the deepest khaki shade on the far right was a bit patchy to apply when used dry. This one would make an excellent liner when used wet.

In this EOTD I started off using UDPP as a base. First taking the apricot shade I applied it to just the middle of the lid and the frosty apple green shade at the inner part of the lid. The outer part of the lid was the deepest khaki shade on the right side of the palette and the golden khaki shade on the left of the palette was applied to the crease and blended up. The eye liner is Make Up For Ever 5L Aqua Eyes and the mascara is Estee Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara.

Guerlain 500 Les Ombres Turandot Écrin 4 Couleurs Eye Shadow Palette Swatches, Review & EOTD – Holiday 2012

In terms of color, the Guerlain 500 Les Ombres Turandot Écrin 4 Couleurs Eye Shadow Palette is quite different from it’s limited edition sister, LIU, but shines just as bright with beauty.

This precious quartet showcases a subtle monochrome palette for vibrant and refined eyes. The interplay of textures and colors effortlessly takes your look from morning to night.

Two matte and two iridescent textures are combined to perfection. Refined down to the slightest detail, the elegant golden case travels in a black suedette pouch with red topstitching.

The four shades can be worn all together (as shown in my eye look) or in different combinations. All of them have a great pigment and this has been one of my favorite Guerlain quads to use and blend. The shades are refined, vibrant and should compliment all eye looks, though this quad does lean warm.

On the eye, the two burgundy toned shades look extremely similar. You almost can’t see the difference between the crease color and the lid color. I have the golden shade at the inner corners and above the crease and the brown shade on the outer V. The eye liner is Chanel Brun Le Crayon Yeux and the mascara is MAC Plush Lash.

Guerlain Liu Eye & Lip Calligraphy Palette Swatches, Review & EOTD – Holiday 2012

For Holiday 2012 Guerlain really knocked it out of the park in terms of eye palettes. I walked home from Nordstrom (figuratively) with both. *sigh*. The one I’m featuring for today is the limited edition Liu Eye & Lip Calligraphy Palette.

Normally I’m not a fan of palettes that contain lip products, let alone a palette that mixes both lip and eye products. But… LOOK AT IT. How could I not buy this? These are my favorite holiday shades, and I’m SUCH a sucker for packaging. It’s so sleek looking and radiates elegance!

What the Nordstrom website has to say about the Guerlain Liu Eye & Lip Calligraphy Palette:

A collector’s palette draws inspiration from the art of calligraphy and Asian beauty rituals. With two dramatic shades for the lips combined with three iridescent eyeshadows, the ingeniously designed palette provides all makeup essentials in one place.

Features and benefits:
- A matte black powder liner that can be used wet or dry to create an unforgettable gaze.
- The extra-flat black Chinese lacquer-style case features a large panoramic mirror.
- Two brushes deliver high-precision application just like calligraphy instruments. The first has a double foam tip for the eyes, one rounded for eyeshadow and the other pointed for liner. The second is a lip brush with silky bristles.

The eye shades are a trio of shimmering ivory, a shimmering brass, and a shimmering grey taupe. The taupe is the most interesting because when it applied to the eye it gave off almost a pyrite look and coordinated better than you would think with the brass shade.

All of the shadows were nicely pigmented and easy to blend and worth with.

As for the black shade, it’s noted that it is a liner and it works well for that. I also used it in the very outer V area for the eye look. The swatches above are done dry, without primer.

Out of the two lip shades in this palette the one that drew me in the most was the red. Isn’t it just phenomenal? Such a holiday lip. The usual red with a hint of orange. The pink is vibrant and fun, and is a shade I’m usually drawn to for New Years Eve. Both the pink and the red shade stain the lip for a lasting bite of color throughout the evening.

For this EOTD I didn’t get super crazy on the liner… I didn’t go all Calligraphy style on you but I wanted to showcase all of the colors being used on the eye. The mascara is MAC Plushlash.

Guerlain 14 LES FAUVES L’Ecrin 4 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette Swatches, Review & EOTD – Fall 2012

Guerlain launched some seriously saucy items for Fall 2012, and I’m totally late on getting to the goods! One of the more beautiful items out of a sea of gorgeousness is the new L’Ecrin 4 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette in 14 Les Fauves.

Les Fauves is a quartet of shades that might not scream “Fall” to you. Personally, this is an eye look I’d more likely gravitate to in the Summer months. I tend to like a darker and more saturated eye in the colder months.

That being said, the texture of the shadows is lovely. The coral shade was slightly chalky but still didn’t give me any issues. I didn’t have any fall out on my cheeks while applying but for some reason I noticed some shadow shakin’s on my hand, so you may want to be careful. Everything blended well, applied well, lasted the day… Packaging is heavy and luxe, as is usual with Guerlain. 5 stars all around!

This palette leans VERY warm, so if you pull to that side it’s definitely a must have.

For this EOTD, I began with a thin layer of UDPP. I used the frosty tan shade (right) for the inner third of the eye and the coral shade (bottom) on the rest of the lid. The warm brown shade (top) is in the crease and blended up, while the dark brown shade (left) is in the outer V and blended into the crease color. I used a bit more of the tan shade (right) to blend above the crease. Benefit Watt’s Up was used to highlight and the mascara is Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill.

Guerlain AVARICE, LUXURE Rouge G de Guerlain L’Extrait Swatches and Review

Let me just preface this entire post by saying that I expected nothing less than perfection from this new gloss formula from Guerlain, the Rouge G de Guerlain L’Extrait, but they are seriously THAT amazing that I’m knocked out with a feather. And it’s made EVEN BETTER by the fact that the 7 shades are named after the 7 cardinal sins.

You guys… you know how I loved the YSL Glossy Stains… the Guerlain is on a whole other level than the whole other level that the YSL was on. As much as I wanted all seven of these shades, I chose two – Avarice (aka greed) and Luxure (aka Lust).

What the Neiman Marcus website has to say about Guerlain Rouge G de Guerlain L’Extrait:

Liquid, creamy, consistent, ultra-pigmented and velvety, Rouge G L’Extrait exceptional lip color is the perfect combination of a lipstick and a gloss and will ensure an incredibly sophisticated look.

The liquid texture glides gently over the lip and within a few moments, the silky color becomes matte. This non-sticky, non-drying and non-feathering texture leaves your lips looking flawless for hours.

Avarice

Avarice is the perfect rosy nude. A shade that can be worn ANY time.

Luxure

Luxure is described as brown. I have no idea why. It’s clearly a red. It’s the shade I salivate over for everything… lips, clothes, cars… you name it. No exceptions here. Warning, not for the faint of heart.

Formula wise, the Guerlain L’Extrait is much more matte (though not as flat as you’d expect) than the YSL Glossy Stain (justifies owning both, just saying) and a lot thicker. L’Extrait will hug your lips in a cloud of pigment and stain, making your pucker perfectly pouty for the duration of whatever event you’re wearing this to (it really should be any event you don’t feel like reapplying your lip at). Thankfully, they do not feel uncomfortably sticky AT ALL. A bit so, but not even as much as the YSL (which weren’t that bad themselves).

Some tips. It’s matte. It really shouldn’t even need to be said that you should exfoliate before applying ANY matte lip product. You’ll be fine throughout the evening after, but it takes like 30 seconds, and it’s worth it. Also, it’s a stain. That being said, watch the h-e-double-hockey-sticks out of your lip line. The doe foot applicator makes for a more precise application, and thank the heavens it comes with that mirror. If you’re worried, treat yourself to a clear lip liner. I line the outer part of my lip line to prevent bleeding, staining, etc.

Another FINE point of this lipstick, that I’m sure moms around the world can appreciate, the tube has that slide release and twist feature. MY DAUGHTER CAN’T OPEN IT. Buwhahahhahahha! YES!

I will own all seven. It’s a matter of budgeting. I can do this *eyes dart nervously around the room*. Next on the list is definitely Envie (aka Envy) and Colère (aka wrath).
