Essie has some great shades out for Fall 2013, but the one that may have captured your attention the most is For the Twill Of It. While all six of the shades from the For the Twill of It collection are certainly beautiful, none will catch your eye like the collections namesake.

For the Twill Of It is a really cool and complex multi-chrome metallic shade with hits of green, purple and silver. The shimmer is intense and it’s fun to angle your hands around in the light and also in the shade to see what shade will appear next.
The formula was really great and easy to work with, becoming fully opaque in two coats. Brush strokes are more apparent in the photo than in real life, but not as ghastly as you might imagine from a metallic.
Essie Nail Polishes retail for $8.00 each and are available at drugstores as well as at Nordstrom.
For this Makeup Wars we’re exploring our favorite Summer Mani’s. For me, I like to change it up, sometimes add some sparkle… definitely be fun. Essie’sSummer 2013 Naughty NauticalCollection ($8.00 each or $17.00 for the cube) is pretty much the epitome of the core colors I go for in the Summer.
While at Ulta, I picked up three shades out of the six from this collection, the hues that called to me the most were Rock the Boat, Sunday Funday and The Girls are Out – mostly because of their subtle yet striking shimmer.
Rock the Boatis a lovely baby blue shade with the subtle silver mini-glitters. I go for light & colorful shades like this when I need something more subtle, but not so neutral. The formula runs a little thin on this one, so I needed three coats for full coverage.
Sunday Funday is a juicy melon shade with the subtle silver mini-glitters. This is probably what most would gravitate towards for their Summer color. I love shades like this for my toes, classy but fun! Two coats of polish were used in the swatch photo.
The Girls are Out is a I whine a lot about hating fuchsia, but this shade has just enough purple in it to be a little different and a lot more acceptable to me. Plus the name sends my immature mind racing and makes me smile every time I look at my nails. Two coats of polish were used in the swatch photo.

As I’m sure you’re aware, May is a special month for Mom’s! Mother’s Day is tomorrow and GlossyBox has a special edition box that is especially for pampering Mom’s (or yourself, even if you’re not a mom… cause everyone deserves to relax)!
Keep in mind, there is still time to subscribe for the May Box, aka the Celebration Box, which is promised to be AMAZING since it’s the 1 year anniversary of GlossyBox in the US!
Currently available in 19 countries, GlossyBox has become known for their high quality samples and prestigious brands such as NARS, Lancome, Laura Mercier, and more.
So, what is in the Mother’s Day 2013 GLOSSYBOX? Let’s check it out!
First up is an Essie Nail Polish in Geranium. This polish is a bold and beautiful shade right on trend for the season. The formula is fabulous and also perfect in one coat!
Next is the Estee LauderSumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Volume Mascara. I reviewed this a few months ago and loved it. It gives awesome curl and volume in just one coat!
From Biolage the ExquisiteOil Replenishing Treatment. This Deluxe Size is exclusive to GlossyBox. This oil smells yummy and works to restore your hair and give shine. A little goes a long way! I only use products such as this at the ends of my hair.
Next, from ModelCo the Cheek + Lip Tint in Rosy Red. This stain gives a long-lasting tinted look to your lips and cheeks that, when worn correctly, gives that just pinched look. Use sparingly, this isn’t easy to get off so you’ll have a better time just adding as needed.
From ColorProof Evolved Color Care the CrazySmooth Anti-Frizz Shampoo & Conditioner. These products (and yay for getting both a shampoo and condioner!) tamed my frizz well and my hair looked shiny. Definitely a love!!
Finally, from ByTerry, the Creme de Rose. This is meant to firm, moisturize and plump the skin. The size is too small to accurately review on those terms, but I found that a little but had my skin feeling soft and the light rose scent isn’t overpowering.
With GlossyBox you get a bit of everything, makeup, skin care, nails, fragrance… I love that this subscription box is sure to cover all of the bases, every single month.
With the exception of the LMdB sample, the brands for Mother’s Day are all new brands to my stash! Clearly, you’re getting your money’s worth, and useable items to boot!!!
GLOSSYBOX is a subscription service. You sign up on the website and then from there you can order your subscription based on one month, six months, or a year. You’ll answer a series of questions and based off of that, you will receive a customized box. This is all pretty standard for a beauty subscription service.
The price is a bit higher than that of other services you may have heard of or belong to. At $21 I would expect double the awesomeness of what I’d receive from, say, Birchbox.
GLOSSYBOX will always offer a MINIMUM of five products. After receiving your box, you can fill out more surveys in order to rate the products you received so they can better tailor your next package. So, basically, after a few months of the service, your packages should be PERFECT.
Again: May is their 1 year anniversary so good things… hint hint….
**TIP – Make sure you review the products received in your GLOSSYBOX to receive 20 GLOSSYDots per review. You can use these toward your own free box!**
