Allure Beauty Blogger of the Year – Challenge 5, Reminder to VOTE and REVLON SWATCHES & EOTD! – Super PIC Heavy!

Hello, everyone!  It’s time for the fifth and FINAL challenge in the Allure Beauty Blogger of the Year Competition!  This has been such an honor!!  Don’t forget to vote, vote, vote!!!

Three steps to voting!  Go to THIS LINK.  Gaze up to the upper right hand area and click LIKE and TWEET.  Then go focus on my face ;) and Click the big red vote for me button!  Simple!  After you vote you’ll be entered to win one of two pairs of Monster Headphones and also the grand prize of a trip to Miami Beach and $1,000 in Revlon products!

In honor of Challenge 5, I decided to go on a Revlon Swatch-A-Thon!

For this competition, we were sent quite a few Revlon products in order to do the final challenge.  I was so excited for the product, that I wanted to do a blog post and share with you all that was sent.

Another reason for this post, is to feature the products used in the video a little more.  The tutorial part of the video was a little dark (more so on some computers than others), and I feel it’s important to check out the final look because it was a really unique combination of color, and possibly something you might not have thought of doing!

First, if you haven’t already, check out the video HERE and VOTE!

Now look at the photos of Julie’s face and eye look (this is the look I did in the video):

Can you even believe that she has no face powder on in those photos?  The foundation is insane!  So fabulous!  Because the eye look is so dramatic it’s best to keep the lip and cheek makeup to a more natural minimum.

Here are the Revlon products that I used on Julie for the tutorial.

Starting with the Face:

(L-R: Revlon Photoready Color Correcting Primer, Revlon Photoready Eye Primer + Brightener, Revlon Photoready Concealer in Light, and Revlon Photoready Airbrush Mousse Makeup in 040 Natural Beige)

Now the Eyes:

(L-R: Revlon Grow Luscious Lashliner in Onyx, Revlon Grow Luscious Lashliner in Emerald, Revlon Colorstay 16hr Eyeshadow in Inspired, and Revlon Photoready 3D Volume Mascara in Black)

and finally the Cheek and Lip products:

(L-R: Revlon Photoready Sculpting Blush Palette in Peach, Revlon Lip Butter in Creme Brulee, Revlon Colorburst Lip Gloss in Gold Dust)

The eye concept was taken from the back of the Revlon Inspired Shadow casing.

I did decide to dress it up a bit more for a more glam look by using the Emerald Lashliner as a base for the robin’s egg blue shade (aka shade 2).  This REALLY made the lid pop.  If you check out the photo below, you’ll see the left eye is with the Emerald base, and the right side is without:

Now on to the goods!

Here I am going to break down all of the products sent!  I tried them ALL so I could do a full post of everything.

Let’s start with the Priming products:

Perfecting Primer, Color Correcting Primer, and Eye Primer + Brightener

(L-R: Revlon Photoready Perfecting Primer, Revlon Photoready Color Correcting Primer, and Revlon Photoready Eye Primer + Brightener)

The Revlon PhotoReady Perfecting Primer and Color Correcting Primer are excellent to put on the face before applying the Mousse Makeup.  It helps create a better canvas for your makeup and reduces the appearance of lines and discoloration.

The Revlon PhotoReady Eye Primer + Brightener can be used as a base for your shadows or (how I like to use it) to blend out the Concealer under the eye or on trouble spots.  However, you can use this anywhere on your face that you want or need to.

Now for the Face products:

Revlon PhotoReady Airbrush Mousse Makeup

(L-R: 010 Vanilla, 020 Shell, 030 Nude, and 040 Natural Beige)

(L-R: 050 Medium Beige, 060 Golden Beige, 070 Rich Ginger, and 080 Caramel)

The Revlon PhotoReady Mousse Makeup sprays out generously as a foam.  You only need one spray to get the right amount of product for your whole face.  This product spreads evenly and easily for a full coverage, matte look.

Revlon PhotoReady Concealer

(L-R: 001 Fair, 002 Light, 003 Light Medium, 004 Medium, 005 Medium Deep, and 006 Deep)

The Revlon PhotoReady Concealer is a nice, thick concealer, but not so thick that it’s going to accentuate the lines of your face.  Like with the Mousse Makeup, you need very little product for application, and this blends in well with the Eye Primer + Brightener.

Revlon PhotoReady Sculpting Blush Palette

Pink

Peach

Neutral

Berry

The Revlon PhotoReady Sculpting Blush Palette contains three shades meant to illuminate, sculpt and color your cheek into ultimate perfection.  I found these shades to apply very lightly, but a good trick to get a heavier amount of color (like in the swatch photos) is to scratch out a bit of the powder to loosen it and then pick it up with your brush to apply.

The contour and illuminating areas of the palette are on the small side, so you’ll want to use the included brush for those.  The color is twice the size, so you can continue to use the included brush, or your own blush brush for that step.

On to the Eye products!

This is going to be a lot of pics, because I did swatches AND an eye look for each palette.  The eye looks were done as instructed by the back of each compact.  On with the show!

Starting off with the Mascara and Liners:

I was pleasantly surprised that I loved the Revlon PhotoReady 3D Volume Mascara.  I’m super picky about mascaras to love, and this one is at the top of the pack.  I recently forgot mascara during my recent trip to Disney World, and I ran right to Walgreens and purchased this one!  Now I have two!

The Revlon Grow Luscious Lash Liner is a super pigmented and soft liner.  Emerald is the stand out shade of the four, but all of them apply seamlessly and look great.

The Revlon ColorStay Creme Gel Eye Liner are mini-pots of creamy color goodness.  I love how nicely they glide on.  The included brush fits nicely into the pot.  I’ve found with this type of brush, it’s best to dot the color on and then glide them into a line.

Next we’ll do the eye looks.  Each look was made using ALL Revlon products.  The Mascara was the PhotoReady 3D Volume and I also used the liners shown above:

Addictive

Adventurous

Attitude

Bombshell

Brazen

Decadent

Delightful

Enchanted

Goddess

Inspired

Luscious

Moonlit

Precocious

Seductive

Serene

Siren

The Eyeshadows all really surprised me in terms of quality and durability.  Goddess was a surprise favorite as well as Bombshell and Enchanted.  I did all of the eye looks based off of the diagrams on the back of the palette.  You don’t HAVE to use this diagram, but it’s definitely an easy way to wear.  If you find the colors aren’t as vibrant as you would like, add a coat of the pencil or cream liner as a base before you apply (like I did with Julie!).

Finally… the lips (you didn’t think we were DONE did you?!)  You’re going to be so sick of my pucker by the end of this lol but it’s worth it!

I want to start off with one of my favorite products, the Revlon Lip Butters! (I know you’ve heard of these, everyone loves them as being the drugstore dupes of the “designer” lip balms!).

(L-R: Creme Brulee, Brown Sugar, Peach Parfait, Fig Jam)

(L-R: Creme Brulee, Brown Sugar, Peach Parfait, Fig Jam)

(L-R: Strawberry Shortcake, Sweet Tart, Lollipop, Sugar Plum, Cherry Tart)

(L-R: Strawberry Shortcake, Sweet Tart, Lollipop, Sugar Plum, Cherry Tart)

Now for the Revlon Colorburst Lipgloss!  These are great glosses with minimal stick.  They range from creamy to shimmery, sheer to pigmented.  They actually remind me of Glossimers!

(L-R: Pink Ice, Crystal Lilac, Orchid, Rosepearl, Hot Pink Rose)

(L-R: Pink Ice, Crystal Lilac, Orchid, Rosepearl, Hot Pink Rose)

(L-R: Rose Gold, Sunset Peach, Peony, Papaya, Strawberry)

ALLURE Magazine Beauty Blogger of the Year Awards – Official Announcement!!!!!!!

I’m sure all of you are familiar with Allure Magazine.  Awhile back I entered myself and my blog into a contest that a fellow blogger shared in a group I belong to, The Beauty Blog Coalition.  The first-ever ALLURE Beauty Blogger Awards.

I’m SO excited to officially announce that I am one of the final 15!

In what I’m sure were countless entries, Allure chose 15 finalists to compete for the ultimate reward – The Allure Beauty Blogger of the Year.  Prizes include being featured in the October 2012 issue of Allure Magazine and having the Allure Beauty Blogger of the Year seal to post on your website.  The winner will also have a chance to submit their work to be considered for use in Allure and on allure.com.  Not to mention a trip to New York City to go backstage at a Fashion Show AND attend the Allure Best of Beauty party.  From that the winner will take home a suitcase stuffed with the winning products.  During the trip the winner will also receive a tour of Revlon headquarters.

I can’t even tell you what it means to me that I was chosen to be a part of this competition.  It’s beyond words.  To win would be an even greater honor.

Throughout the challenges, I’m going to need your support.  Each week, when the challenges are posted, I’ll be doing a blog post letting you know where and how to vote.  Reader votes COUNT, so you are all a very important part to this process!

Here are some ways you can help out!
