With Earth Day just passing on April 22, 2013, it reminds us to be active in conserving our environment.  And, not just on ONE day.  What you do every day, even the tiniest things, make a huge difference!

You may think you don’t have time to turn the compost around into planting flowers or fresh veggies, but even the little things that are easy to turn into every day habits can make a difference!  Such as:

  • Turning off the lights or tv when you leave the room, or unplugging appliances (or your chargers for cell phones, game systems, iPads… etc) when they aren’t in use.
  • Turning off the water while you scrub at those dishes or while you brush your teeth.
  • Stock up on reusable bags, which are simple to fold up and keep in your car and keep you from having to use paper or plastic ones at the grocery store or mall.
  • Participate in your community’s recycling program by tossing bottles, aluminum, paper and other recyclables into separate bins.  They’ll be picked up curbside and the only effort on your part is taking the bin(s) to the curb once a week (or, every other week, as my community does).

Every little bit MATTERS. You can even teach your kids about reusing recycled items for crafts.  I’m not horribly creative myself, but Pinterest (I simply search recycled crafts) is your best friend, and you can use it to find some really cool activities that you’ll all enjoy and that are virtually mess free.

I seriously feel like Spring is NEVER going to get here. It’s April and we’re still getting snow flurries here in PA. Once the warmer weather DOES decide to grace us with her presence I will at least be ready.

As you may or may not remember I shared my bad tanning experience with you. Since that post I’ve been using the new Jergen’s Natural Glow Moisturizers line pretty regularly. I figure it’s not only a way to be ready to party when the warm weather finally hits, but also thumb my nose up to the dull and dreary cold we’re dealing with now.

What outfit am I dying to drag out of the depths of my closet once I can finally wear it without getting the weird looks? My animal print maxi dress, of course! Below I have it paired with a light sweater (I’m not a fan of my arms) but I’m hoping this self-tan from Jergen’s is the confidence booster I need to ditch the extra layer!

Pond’s Luminous Clean Skincare Line Photos, Review & GIVEAWAY!

What makes me feel luminous is a good nights sleep.  That is totally something you take for granted before you have kids.  Once in a blue moon my kids will stay over night at their grandparents and the type of sleep I get is on a whole other level.  It’s an actual deep sleep.  On a more material note, shopping in general also makes me feel luminous.  Nothing can lift the spirits and make you glow more than finding an awesome handbag on sale or finding your perfect red lip.

Pond’s has this new line of skincare to aid in luminosity, aptly named Pond’s Luminous Clean.

POND’S® Luminous Line keeps skin looking bright and luminous all day. The line includes a Wet Cleansing Towelette, moisturizer and collection of cleansers that brighten dull skin. The Towelettes are enriched with moisturizing ingredients and soft white Kaolin clay known to act like a magnet, to gently draw out dirt, makeup and deep-dwelling impurities leaving skin bright and luminous. The latest addition to the POND’S® Luminous Line, POND’S® Luminous Moisture™ Day Lotion with SPF 15 is enriched with illuminating minerals. The weightless SPF 15 formula contains UVA and UVB sun protection against skin-damaging rays. The complete Luminous Line is available at mass retailers, select drugstores and supermarkets nationwide for a suggested retail price of $4.99 – $5.79.

The Pond’s Luminous Moisture Day Lotion contains SPF 15 but it’s not greasy at all, a very little will go a long way.  It has a lovely rose scent that isn’t over-powering and didn’t make my sensitive skin react.

IMG_7738The Pond’s Luminous Clean Cream Cleanser is gentle enough for daily use to purify the skin of dirt and any makeup.  This product also helped in brightening my dull skin that I seem to be plagued with in the winter months!

IMG_7735I love that this line includes not only a regular cleanser, but also an exfoliating cleanser.  My skin is rather sensitive, so I couldn’t use an exfoliating cleanser everyday.  However, I think it’s absolutely necessary one or two times a week, depending on what your skin can handle.  The Pond’s Luminous Clean Exfoliating Cleanser is just gentle enough that I can actually use it every day if I wanted, which is helpful in renewing skin radiance.  I err on the side of caution, though, so I used it every other day for the purposes of review.

IMG_7728My absolute favorite product from this line is the Pond’s Luminous Clean Wet Cleansing Towelettes.  These are so perfect for when you’re feeling over-tired, ridiculously lazy or less than luminous.  The towels are textured, but still soft.  They are nice and thick so you don’t have to worry about them tearing while you’re wiping your makeup off.  30 come in a pack.

Jergen’s Keeps Self-Tanning On the Level

I don’t think there is one person out there who can honestly say that they haven’t had a tanning mishap or five. One of my more embarrassing stories lives and thankfully remains back in 2002 when I was a spray tan aficionado! Or so I thought.

My friend and I would go tanning in a bed AND spray tan. We’re talking double-duty tanning. We couldn’t get dark enough. Now, I don’t know how familiar you all are with spray-tanning, but the place we went to had different levels and we always did level one. So, level two clearly means you get darker, right? Wrong.

After we both came out of the booth laden with streaks, the employee informed us that level two was for someone bigger, such as a man or someone who would weigh more than we each did. Now you tell us?! He did try to help smooth it out with some ridiculous potion that hardly worked. We basically had to live with the streaks until they faded.

Since that time I did still continue to spray tan (at level one) for about another year, but it’s put me in fear of self-tanning. I know there are good ones out there, I’ve even found a few, but I’m still in the market for an every day, natural type of glow… just a little something to keep me away from Casper type territory.

For the next three months I’ll be slowly guiding my skin out of the depths of paleness with the new Jergen’s Natural Glow Moisturizers line, which promises head-to-toe glow. I’ll keep you posted on the progress, and hopefully this will be one check in the “win” column!
