Tarte Cosmetics has quite a product in the Amazonian Clay Waterproof Cream Eyeshadow. It spreads on easily and holds on tight. Basically everything you want when you go into a relationship expecting long term.

Five shades round out the line - Seashell Pink, Plum Smoke, Shimmering Bronze, Shimmering Moss, and today's post of Slate.

What the Sephora website has to say about Amazonian Clay Waterproof Cream Eyeshadow:

What it is:
A waterproof cream eye shadow powered by skintuituve™ Amazonian clay.

What it does:
Ideal for creating a soft or smoky look, micronized Amazonian clay intensifies color pigments while working to nourish lids, reduce surface oil, and improve overall texture. Natural carnauba wax acts as a built-in shadow primer to ensure smooth application by softening the skin and increasing hydration.

What it is formulated WITHOUT:
- Parabens
- Sulfates
- Synthetic Fragrances
- Petrochemicals
- Phthalates
- GMOs
- Triclosan

What else you need to know:
Amazonian clay is a nutrient-rich, multitasking, and total-skin-balancing clay that reduces dryness and flakiness, improves skin clarity, elasticity, firmness, and texture while removing oil from the skin's surface for smooth application and wear .

Slate is described as shimmering silver, though you can obviously see from the swatches that it's a greyed taupe.

I'm happy to report that this Slate is not only full of taupey goodness, but it also does what it says it's going to do. You can wear this alone on your lid without the aid of a primer and not worry about it going back on it's word. The shade may look like it is sheer when blended out, but you can layer it on for a heavier pigment.

When I use this shadow, I like to use a brush rather than my finger (like I do with most other cream shadows). Not only will this product apply better with a firm brush, but it's awkward to get your finger in there and get a good amount of product.

I'd really love to see more shades in this line, especially some that are more on the matte side to use as a more versatile base for eye looks.

For this EOTD I applied Slate all over the lid as a base using a firm shadow brush. I added Le Metier de Beaute Crystal Ball (from the Splendid Frost Kaleidoscope Kit) on the outer V and Le Metier de Beaute Corinthian to the crease. For a highlight, I used Le Metier de Beaute Naked. The top liner is the Eyeko Skinny Liquid Eyeliner that I received in my June 2012 Birchbox, and the bottom liner is Urban Decay Stray Dog 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil. The mascara used is Giorgio Armani Eyes to Kill.

It's basically the taupe-est eye ball you'll ever meet. (I totally did need to put the black on the top lid, though... it was bordering on cray-cray... if taupe colors could ever be cray-cray...)

Tarte Amazonian Clay Waterproof Cream Eyeshadow retails for $19.00 and you can pick it up at Sephora, Ulta, and on the Tarte website.
