I've never been to Hawaii. It's on the list, of course. The Spring 2015OPI Hawaii Nail Polish Collection at least gets me a little closer mentally. The vibrant beautiful colors and whimsical names take me to all of the islands without the extensive travel time. Obviously, that's the silver lining to not actually being in Hawaii.
All of the swatches are done below using Cult Nails Get it On Perfecting Base Coat and Megan Miller Rock Solid Top Coat. The photos are taken indoors under daylight bulbs with no flash. Of all of the photos I take I choose the ones that are the most clear and closest to the nail polish color in real life.
Do You Take Lei Away? Almost opaque in one coat, perfect in two. I love this cool beige cream shade... I just want to paint a neon flower right smack in the center of it!
Suzi Shops & Island Hops. A beautiful cotton candy pink cream. The formula was a little thin so it needed three coats for full and even opacity.
That's Hula-rious! This is a mint cream aka the quintessential Spring shade! Three coats were required for full opacity.
Is Mai Tai Crooked? This apricot colored cream nail polish actually reminds me of a Mai Tai! Two coats were almost perfect but I added a third because I didn't feel like it was quite opaque enough.
Aloha From OPI. This is the hot shade you get when you mix a lot of red in with a little bit of pink and orange and call it a cream. The perfect Summer toe shade! One coat was almost fully opaque but it definitely needed a second, thin coat to even it all out.
Just Lanai-ing Around. An orchid-mauve shadewith fine silver shimmer. One coat was fully opaque but for the pics I added a second thin coat.
Hello Hawaii Ya?A light purple cream, two coats.
Lost My Bikini in Molokini. This is a deep, vibrant purple cream... i almost called it neon! One coat is all that was needed for full, even opacity.
Go With the Lava Flow. The first coat was even but left some sheerness but two left it all perfectly opaque.
My Gecko Does Tricks. This is a lime green frost with a super thin formula. I used three coats and still didn't achieve full opacity. Even though it's on the sheer side I'm liking the color more than I thought!
This Color's Making Waves. A frosty blue-green base festooned with copper flecks? Freaking GORGEOUS. Two coats was almost okay and in a hurry it'll do, but below I did three coats to make it better ;)
Pineapples Have Peelings Too! This has a frosty canary yellow base with rainbow colored medium sized hex glitter and mini rainbow glitters. When I first looked at this polish my feelings went bipolar. I thought it was different, interesting, rainbows are pretty, dang that's ugly, omg it looks so cool. At the end I found it to be pretty and would make a fun accent to a mani. Two coats.
My top faves from this collection are Aloha From OPI, Just Lanai-ing Around, Go With the Lava Flow, This Color's Making Waves and Pineapples Have Peelings Too! What are yours?
