This month Birchbox did what I thought was the impossible - it beat out ipsy. I must say, between this month and last I’m pretty impressed. I don't know if they heard our cries or if it's just a coincidence, but I hope it keeps up! The theme for the May 2014 Birchbox is Freewheeling, which stands for being free of restraints or rules.

As you open the box the card resting on top gives you a little explanation and greeting on one side and a run down of what is in your box on the other side.

May 2014 Birchbox Freewheeling

Let’s see what’s going on for May!

Birchbox May 2014

From COOLA, Environmental Repair Plus™ Radical Recovery™ After-Sun Lotion. So you stayed out in the sun too long with enough (or any) SPF? This lotion is said to soothe all of the bad that follows with agave. This lotion smells amazing and feels cooling even if you aren't keeping it in the fridge. I only got a small sample and tried some on my hand, but based off of the reviews on Birchbox and the way it smells and feels I definitely want a full size. Of course it's sold out on Birchbox =( I will find you!

From Marcelle, New·Age 8 in 1 Power Serum. This gel is packed with peptides for anti-aging. After one week of use, once a day, you're supposed to see results. I love that this isn't a runny consistency (like more serums) but still feels like a serum when you smooth it on. It's got a hair gel like smell to it at first but that fades to nothing once it dries. My face felt smooth after application. I don't think I'll get a full week out of the sample provided, but I'll definitely use it up.

From Nexxus, Color Assure Pre-Wash Primer, Shampoo & Conditioner. Who would've thought we'd hit a time where we had primers for our hair? In any event, this 3-step system is fantastic! The products smelled great and my hair looked and felt wonderful. I'll definitely purchase the full-sizes and hope that I'm just as impressed with the long-term effects.

From Pixi, Shea Butter Lip Balm. I got the shade Coral Crush and was so excited. I actually purchased a few of these to review and haven't gotten a chance to get to them yet. This balm is so much more pigmented than I thought and it feels amazing. I'm now making it a priority to get the ones I bought up ASAP.

As a Lifestyle Extra,Harney & Sons Wrapped Tea Sachets. I got two packets in Pomegranate Oolong and Caribe Tea. These flavors smell great and I love to get different teas in my samples boxes to try out. These two are at the top of my pile for the next cool evening (for some reason I can't bring myself to drink hot tea when it's muggy and 90 degrees).

I was happy with this months shipment. If Birchboxkeeps it up I might just fall back in love! I do believe it was worth $10 and it was a nice mix of makeup, hair, drink and skin care. I’m definitely looking forward to next months shipment!
