Just in case you wanted some more Rihanna - it's your lucky year. Rihanna has partnered with MAC to be their 2014 Viva Glam spokesperson. Of course this calls for more signature red shades, which are available in a Lipstick and Lipglass.
My favorite thing about the Viva Glam products is that every penny made from purchases goes towards the MAC AIDS Fund, which helps women, men and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
What Nordstrom says about MAC Viva Glam Rihanna:
Rihanna and M·A·C come together for the Viva Glam Rihanna collection, which features two products both boasting a bold blue-red with frost finish wrapped up limited-edition packaging. Every cent of its selling price goes toward helping women, men and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS.
The packaging for Viva Glam Rihanna is shaped the same as your standard MAC Lipglass and Lipstick, but instead of black it's a deep matte red and adorned with Rihanna's signature. Beautiful!
(L-R: Lipstick, Lipglass, layered)
Viva Glam Rihanna Lipstick($16.00) is a neutral red with a frost finish. Lately when I see that something has a frost finish I've been staying away, but I couldn't resist picking this one up! Luckily, it's not really very frosty and it was easy to achieve full opacity. It wasn't drying and lasted around 4 hours on me.
Viva Glam Rihanna Lipglass ($15.00) is a sheer strawberry red loaded up with the shimmer. I actually love how juicy this looks on it's own. However, it settled a bit into the lip lines and it was noticeable. If you smush your lips together after applying it'll help to smooth it out a bit. This lasted about 3 hours on me and has the usual MAC Lipglass semi-sticky feeling to it.
I feel that the lipstick and lipglass work best together. The sheerness and sparkle of the lipglass tones down the frosty effect of the lipstick, making it the perfect red.
I think the combination of the lipstick and lipglass is absolutely stunning. In the photo below I layered the lipglass over the lipstick - it's one of my new fave combos!
