UPS could sense me today. I was sending out the vibes. "Hey, mister... you have my MAC Surf, Baby! that I paid out the rear to have overnighted... get here!" Usually he doesn't arrive until between 10:30am and 11am... he got here at 10:01am! YAY!
I didn't get the whole collection, I wish I could have, but I did pick up some of the more popular pieces as well as the items I was lemming or curious about. A few items I picked up I wouldn't have bought if I wasn't planning to blog about the collection, but I am SO glad I did. Those two items ended up being my favorites from the whole haul!!
One of those items is the MAC Surf, Baby! Cheek Powder in MyParadise.
Initially, My Paradise reminded me too much of Marine Life (which I totally could NOT pull off). If not for the blog, I would have passed. My Paradise is much less pink than Marine Life and a lot more wearable. Marine Life was HARSH for me (I'm NW25).
My Paradise is smooth and buildable, and the overspray didn't smush away as fast as the Marine Life seahorse. I really rubbed just the over spray part to get a swatch and it barely budged, but I got a ton of color. I think you can use this sparingly (because, really, who wants THAT much glitter on their face anyway?!) and keep it around for awhile. The peachy-orange color is gorgeous, though, in it's own right.
Here is a pic of My Paradise from after I did my swatches. You can click to enlarge to see it better. You can hardly even tell that I swatched the flower part, but I did on the top most petal.
I'm super glad I didn't pass on this. It sold out VERY quickly on the MACcosmetics.com website, but the Surf, Baby! Collection has launched today on department store websites, so I suggest if you missed out on anything from the MAC site you get to the other store sites ASAP!
MAC Surf, Baby! Cheek Powder in My Paradise retails for $28 and can be found anywhere that sells MAC, as long as the stock is there. Call around... see if they'll hold one, and get your booty to the store!
