Thank the heavens that Birchbox is starting to get better again. November had me concerned and while December was better, it was still like "huh"?!

As you open the box there is a card resting on top of the tissue paper that tells you about the theme of the January Box (which is Best Year Ever) and on the back tells you what is inside.

Under the tissue paper are this month’s goodies!

First off, from Harvey Prince, a fragrance sample in the scent Skinny Chic. This scent is said to boost energy and curb cravings. I don't know about all that, but the smell is yummy once it settles in.

Second, from LASHEM, the Measurable Difference Lash Gel Serum. When used once a day this is to give you longer, thicker lashes. It's a small size, but I don't mind trying it out to see, since it is derm-approved.

Third, from Number 4, Clarifying Shampoo. I love to get shampoo samples. When they arrive with a coordinating conditioner. However, this one also states it can be used as an all over body wash. Okay. Two-in-one is fine, and though a fruity scent, my hubby will appreciate this. My hair needs a cage and a whip to stay sane.

Next, from the Balm, an adorable mini-size of their ever-popular two-in-one blush and highlight Hot Mama (which I've swatched and reviewed here).

Finally, as a Beauty Extra, 2 sample packets of the Fresh Lotus Youth Preserve Face Cream. I'm not crazy about getting skin care in sample packets. It's impossible to actually tell if it'll work or if you'll like it for the long-term. As a beauty extra it's technically not a part of the overall value of the box... but ugh I hate skincare samples.
