Of the two Dior 5-Couleurs Eye Shadow Palettes that came out with the Summer 2015 Collection746Ambre Nuit($62.00 // Sephora) wasn't one that I had my eye on. On my list was Contraste Horizon (to be reviewed) because it was a little more sultry looking and has those "Summer" shades to it. I didn't fall in love when I photographed... I didn't fall in love when I swatched... head over heels love happened the minute I applied the very first shade. I'm obsessed with the final eye look (shown at the bottom of this post) and want to wear it every single day.
Packaging wise you'll notice it's housed in the same deep navy casing and velveteen pouch that Dior 5-Couleurs come in.
When you open the compact the five eye shadow shades are covered with plastic and sided with two double-ended makeup applicators. On the opposite side of the shadows is a full mirror.
The five eye shadow shades in Ambre Nuit are an iridescent peach, a light chocolate bronze metallic, a satin tan, a dark chocolate w/ golden shimmer and a frosty white. Very neutral but with a Summery kick. The shades have a wonderful pigment and blend together well. Application was easy and the color lasted all day without fading or creasing when worn over an eye shadow primer. One of the best eye palettes I've ever tried from Dior. You guys remember how much I loved the Eye Reviver Palette? I love Ambre Nuit more.
The swatches below are done dry, on bare skin with no primer underneath.
In the eye look below I began by using MAC Utterly Becoming Pro Longwear Paint Pot for a base. First I applied the iridescent peach shade (top left) to the inner corners of the eye and blended it inward. Next I took the satin tan shade (bottom right) and worked it at the top of the crease, blending upward. Next I applied the light chocolate bronze metallic shade (top right) all over the lid minus the inner corner area and into the crease. To deepen the outer V I applied the dark chocolate w/ golden shimmer (bottom left) and blended it into the outer crease area as well. The frosty white shade (middle) was used to highlight under the brow and blended down toward the other shades to make it all seamless. A bit of the light chocolate bronze shade is also smudged under the lower lash line. The eye liner is butter London Union Jack Black Wink Eye Pencil and the mascara is butter London Iconoclast Mega Volume Lacquer Mascara.
Now that I've tried Ambre Nuit I can't imagine ever being without it. How would you wear Dior Ambre Nuit?
