China Glaze has really delivered with their Halloween 2014 Collection entitled Apocalypse of Colour. Featuring five nail polish shades and one glow-in-the-dark top coat this collection will make it easy for you to decorate your nails with colors inspired by Halloween, with names inspired by the undead.
Rest in Pieces(A sheer base with random sized hex and bar glitters in gold, silver holo and black). I'm going to go all "hometown football girl" on you and say that besides this being a fun Halloween glitter this is a great football season glitter for Pittsburgh Steelers fans ;) I found I had to work to get the black glitter to go on the brush and then maneuver the placement on all the glitters a bit, but in the end it looks like quite the nail party. Below is three coats over a bare nail.
Don't Let the Dead Bite(A milky, pale sheer base with red hex and bar glitters saturated throughout). This one was perhaps the most interesting to me in the bottle. I wasn't sure I'd like it, but the sheer base color ended up working well with it and the different sized glitters settle at different densities, which is pretty cool. Below is three coats.
I Love Your Guts (A flat, blood red - almost raspberry shade with black speckled glitter. Textured, matte finish). The formula on this was perfection! One coat coated each nail completely and I love the dried down finish!
Getting to Gnaw You(A black base with copious amounts of copper orange glitter). The formula was a little thick so on the first coat I was a little worried... but after the second coat it ended up settling down and looking flawless. Love this one!
But of Corpse(A flat, apple green with black speckled glitter. Textured, matte finish). The formula on this one was a little thinner than I Love Your Guts so two coats was absolutely necessary. Depending on how thick you paint, you may even need three.
...and, of course, what China Glaze Halloween celebration is complete without Ghoulish Glow (which is a glow in the dark top coat)? It was insanely hard to get a decent pic of it glowing clearly, so apologies for the blur. I just have it painted on bare nail but you get the idea ;)
As much as I'm not a fan of Zombie type movies I'm obsessed with this Zombie-esque collection! My faves are I Love Your Guts, Don't Let the Dead Bite and Getting to Gnaw You. What are yours?
China Glaze Apocalypse of Colour is available for a limited time at beauty supply stores, Sally Beauty Supply and Ulta for approx. $7.50 MSRP (give or take depending on locations, sales and discounts).
