This week for Makeup Wars we’re talking about our favorite new brands. Every brand that popped into my head wasn’t really new, though some were new to me. One in particular definitely isn’t new, but it has been newly re-branded… which is why I chose PÜR Cosmetics.
If you’ve never heard of PÜR Cosmetics maybe you’ve heard of PÜR Minerals, which is the name the brand previously went by. Regardless of the moniker PÜR is known as the “complexion authority” and holds exclusivity on several revolutionary formulas, most notably Ceretin Complex which contains age-defying Retinol with super-hydrating Ceramides. In addition each product formula is loaded with antioxidants, vitamins and minerals for skin nourishment.
Basically, this is your makeup and skincare in ONE. Their price point may seem high to some, but because of the skincare involved within the formula it’s priced much lower than many other brands that claim their products do the same thing – and, IMO, gives a better performance and has better results.
Below are some of their more recent releases, though there are many more to choose from. Keep reading below to see why I’m loving them and, as usual, why you need them!
PÜR Cosmetics HydraFluid Water Serum Foundation ($39.00 // ULTA Beauty). I didn’t expect to like this foundation. From the way the description was worded and based off of other bloggers reviews I assumed this would only work for those with normal-to-dry skin. Basically I hear “hydrating” and “radiance” and think it’ll go the way of every other foundation of it’s kind and just slide right off of my face. In the case of the HydraFluid – not true.
This foundation contains Encapsulated Water Complex which utilizes phospholipids (a major component of skin cell membranes) to deliver the purest water sourced from the Swiss Alps deep into the skin for long-lasting hydration as well as the brands infamous Ceretin Complex. The applicator is a clear dropper and allows the perfect amount to dispense for each dot on your brush.
For application PÜR recommends placing 2 to 3 dots of the product on their Liquid Chisel Brush and buff onto the face in a circular motion. I tried a few different methods and I have to agree that this one is the way to go for the most even and flawless look. I do not recommend adding any more product in order to build coverage. The second layer just sat on my face and somehow really emphasized my pores. That being said, even with my oily skin and need for a medium-full coverage one pass with three dots was enough coverage while still feeling lightweight.
This foundation is available in five shades – Light, Medium, Tan, Dark and Deep – all swatched below.
PÜR Cosmetics Love Your Selfie Palette ($39.00 // ULTA Beauty). This palette is so fabulously full of beautiful things. It contains 8 limited edition eye shadows, Chateau Kisses Lip Gloss in Exposed, Big Look Mascara, Mineral Glow Bronzer, Chateau Cheeks Blush In Savvy, and Afterglow illuminating Powder.
The 8 eye shadows are Exposure (vanilla matte), Fade (sandy peachy brown matte), Filter (rose gold shimmer), Photobomb (dark plum shimmer with black flecks), Flash (champagne shimmer), Capture (taupe matte), Sepia (milk chocolate matte) and Closeup (muted black matte).
The only shadow I’m not a fan of is Photobomb. I found it to be very dry with little pigment. But alllll that and more is made up for with the saturation of Closeup (which is so rare for a black matte) and Filter. Filter is such a chameleon because it has a purple cast to it on the swatch, but is most certainly a rose gold. All of the powder products kick up some dust because they’re so soft, so I do recommend applying your eye look before your face makeup or applying the shadows carefully. Exposed Lip Gloss carries a nice pigment and is the perfect nude. I’m not the biggest fan of Big Look Mascara (I find it to be very wet and it tends to get everywhere when I apply) but it does give a nice lift and darkening to the lashes.
In the look below I’m wearing MAC Utterly Becoming Pro Longwear Paint Pot on my lids as a base and then for the shadows I used Filter on the lid, Capture in the crease and blending up, Flash at the inner corner and above the crease and Exposure to highlight. I did use Big Look Mascara (even though it’s not my fave) and all three of the cheek colors. Exposed Lip Gloss is on my lips and HydraFluid Foundation in Light is on my face under IT Cosmetics Celebration Foundation.
I’m also loving their new Fully Charged Magnetic Mascara <—- click for the full review.
