L’Oréal Paris has an extensive grouping of must-have makeup items that have released recently and ever since I saw the first review on them I had quite the “must-have” list going. Before I could shop L’Oreal sent over the mother of all goodie boxes in the form of a train case stuffed with most of the items I’d been lemming! I’ve been showing a lot of sneak peeks on Snapchat and other social media, but this is the review. The mother of all L’Oréal Paris blog posts. Talk is Chic. Let’s do this.
L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Monos Eye Shadow ($5.99 // ULTA Beauty). 15 of the most beautifulllll eyeshadows everrrrrrrr. Can you freaking tell about how much I love these? Can you? That list I was talking about in the opening paragraph… every one of these was on there. Even the blue shades that I likely won’t use in every day life. Because BEAUTIFUL.
First up – the texture. It’s different. At first try you’re going to have a wtf moment. Do not back away! It’s a powder but it feels cool to the touch and almost like it’s wet because of the gel-to-powder formula. There are 6 matte shades and 9 shimmer shades – all fab. That black, though. You guys, come on. I’m dying.
Application is smooth and pigmented. I found that for the lid I get the best results with a flat paddle brush (like the MAC 239) and applying with a pressing then slight push motion. That’s not to say you can’t use a fluffy brush with these. I used blending brushes of all kinds (from tapered to fluffy) to do crease work and blending and they worked well. I like a lot of color on the lid so the 239 was best for that since the fluffy brushes will sheer the color out on the eye.
Wear time was all day. I had no creasing when wearing these shades over a primer and the color and intensity lasted all day long. It’s actually impossible to chose a fave so buy them all. As of this blog post ULTA has a Buy One Get One Half Off going on for L’Oreal so it’s a good time to stock up. Check your local paper for coupons and don’t forget the ULTA website has a $3.50 off $10.00 coupon you can use. You can score the whole set on the cheap if you look around!
(L-R: 200 Paris Beach, 201 Little Beige Dress, 202 Sunset Seine, 203 Cafe au Lait, 204 Quartz Fume)
(L-R: 205 Petite Perle, 206 Mademoiselle Pink, 207 Pain au Chocolat, 208 Violet Beaute, 209 Noir C’est Noir)
(L-R: 210 Argentic, 211 Grand Bleu, 212 Green Promenade, 213 Teal Couture, 214 Meet Me in Paris)
L’Oréal Paris Infallible Matte-Matic Mechanical Eyeliner ($8.99 // ULTA Beauty). Four shades of Matte-Matic are available and all of them are shown here! You get all of the basic liner colors (black, grey, navy, brown) in a matte formula. I found them to be easy to apply, have nice pigment and last all day. They even did exceptionally well in my waterline area. I’m not 100% but I think these are the only drugstore liners to last in my waterline for more than a couple of hours.
L’Oréal Paris Infallible Black Velvet Liquid Eyeliner ($9.99 // ULTA Beauty). I’ve been freaking out all over social media about this liner. If you have issues applying liquid eye liner it’s going to be your new best friend.
Black Velvet features a rounded, spongy tip which looks more intimidating than friendly, but it’s truly perfect for getting the straightest, most even line on your lids and at the optimal thickness. It’s not super thin, but it’s not thick. It lasts ALL DAY and doesn’t budge until you make it. It’s basically one of those items in my life that if it ever gets discontinued I’ll cry and rage. It just won’t be pretty soooo hopefully it sticks around forever!
(L-R: Infallible Matte-Matic in Deep Brown, Navy Matte, Taupe Grey, Ultra Black; Infallible Black Velvet in Black Noir)
L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Superstar Red Carpet Mascara ($10.99 // ULTA Beauty). There are two sides to this “flash-reflecting” mascara – side one is the primer, which is volumizing and thickening; side two is the mascara, which is lengthening and infused with light-reflecting pearls. I found this mascara worked well for me in terms of giving nice thickening and a bit of volume. The lift lasted all day long until I removed the product at night.
L’Oréal Paris Brow Stylist Prep and Shape Pro Kit ($14.99 // ULTA Beauty). This brow kit comes in two shades: Light to Medium and Medium to Dark. I was sent two of the Light to Medium (which I didn’t realize until after I photographed). This is the best match for me but generally brow powders don’t work well since I need to draw in quite a bit of my brow area.
What I do like to do with brow powders is use them as neutral shadows or fill in the hairier areas of my brows to try and keep them as natural as possible. As a teen of the late 90’s & 2000’s pluck happy is putting it mildly and also baby having hormones. Soooo… brows weak over here. These powder sets are excellent to keep in your purse in case you need a quick fix and whipping out a pencil isn’t in the cards.
L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro-Contour ($12.99 // ULTA Beauty). I love when the highlight and contour come together. It takes the guess-work out of pairing. It’s not like it’s time-consuming to choose what you need, but sometimes you just don’t want to. The Infallible Pro-Contour is available in three shade duos and I have two of them swatched below in Light and Medium.
My light shade broke in transit (which was odd because it was packed REALLY well) but it ended up the Medium worked a lot better for my skin tone. I did use and swatch both shades and found them to be really easy to apply and blend. Both lasted all day long on me. Another major thing I love about duos like this is that they can also be used on the eyes for a quick, get-your-booty-out-the-door shadow look.
There is a brush included meant to give you an easy one-swipe highlight and contour but my cheekbone area isn’t as sharp or angled as this brush would require so it wasn’t a good fit for my face shape.
L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro Matte Gloss ($9.99 // ULTA Beauty). 10 shades are available in this formula and I have five of the bolder ones to show you!
These glosses are hardly a gloss (IMO) because that pigment is SO WOW! It’s more like a “whipped” liquid lipstick. The applicator is sponge-tipped, angled for easy application and tapered at the tip. There’s a small well at the center which holds just enough product to coat your lips entirely with one dip into the tube.
The Pro Matte Glosses are super-saturated and even though they’re touted as “matte” they have a really nice shine to them and aren’t drying at all. I got a good wear time out of them – 4-5 hours if I didn’t eat or drink but because the five I tried are dark/bold they left a nice stain behind.
(L-R: 302 Fuchsia Amnesia, 304 Rebel Rose, 310 Forbidden Kiss, 312 Rouge Envy, 308 Shanghai Scarlet)
You’ll have to go ahead and forgive the FOTD pics below… IDK why but I took them with two different cameras so even though they were done in the same room the coloring is different. I couldn’t decide which one I liked more, since these are two of my favorite eye looks using these shadows, plus the one look has that gorgeous Pro Matte Gloss… ugh. Decisions are hard.
Look One: L’Oreal products used – Colour Riche Eye Shadow in 200, 201, 202, 207 and 208; Black Noir Infallible Black Velvet Liquid Eyeliner; Ultra Black Matte-Matic Mechanical Eyeliner; Voluminous Superstar Mascara; Infallible Pro-Contour in Medium.
************ LOOK AT THAT LINER! Black Velvet for the freaking WIN. I did that in about 2 seconds. YAAAASSSS! ************
Look Two: L’Oreal products used – Colour Riche Eye Shadow in 204, 205, 200, 207 and 201; Deep Brown Matte-Matic Mechanical Eyeliner; Voluminous Superstar Mascara; Infallible Pro-Contour in Medium and 312 Rouge Envy Pro Matte Gloss.
SO MANY awesome new products!!! I loved a lot of L’Oréal before but I think it’s safe to say that now, I’m obsessed. I’m definitely picking up more of the Pro Matte Gloss shades! Are there any new items from them you want me to pick up and try/review? What’s the latest L’Oréal beauty product on your wishlist?
Find all of the products mentioned in this post and more at your local drugstore or ULTA Beauty.
